Sorry you didn't see any loss this week; maybe next week! Your theory about the bootcamp sounds good; however, I'm afraid it would take a lot more time and exercise than what we're doing in the bootcamp to build up muscle(LOL). With that said, the (Sweatpants to Swimsuit) bootcamp is great; I wish I could convince everyone to participate. I must also add, I do expect to see a difference in both weight and inches by the end of the bootcamp (another three weeks).

I'm blaming it on the bootcamp workout and muscles weighing more than fat! emoticon

WooHoo! Congrats on busting through that plateau and losing 4.5 pounds; that's fantastic! Way to stick to the plan, working out, and gulping that water; it sure did pay off!

ROSMORALES:
Way to take of 5.5 pounds for your first weigh-in!!!! That's a great loss for two weeks!

JAZTEC:
Congrats on losing 1.8 pounds and a total of eight pounds during your three weeks with SP!

PATTIETOA:
Sorry you had to report a two pound gain; boy, the food at wedding receptions certainly is a big temptation. Glad to read you're getting back on track with the meal plan and exercise; don't forget to add drinking water and sleep. Getting right back on track will hopefully allow you to report some weight loss on your next weigh-in.

GIGIGLASSTIGER:
Way to go!!!!! Congratulations on being down two pounds!!!!

I lost 1.5 lbs. It felt wonderful yesterday when the scale show 179.8. First time in a year below 180. This is going to be a hard week. My b'day party is tonight and my son and his girlfriend are coming to spend 4 days with me. I will try to be good. Also yesterday I went out and bought some new clothes. Some were large, not extra large anymore. Hurray!!! emoticon

Diane (DIANNIEJ):
Congrats on taking off another pound!!!!! Since you mention it "going to be" in the 90's today, I assume you must have gone for your walk earlier in the day; as the weather changes to "hot," it's probably wise to do early morning or late evening walks. No matter what, take your water bottle with you!

BESEENU52:
WooHoo! Congratulations on taking off two pounds!!!!! I'd be feeling pretty good too!

DESERTDREAMERS:
Yup, it looks like you might be definitely plateauing; but, like you said, you didn't lose, but you also didn't gain. Stick with it, this too shall pass.

CORKEY58:
Wow! Congratulations on losing eight pounds since 03/17/09!!!! By all means logging everything you eat, tracking goals, and reading articles is very motivational!

Peggy (MADOUGL):
Sorry, you had a weight gain of three pounds. Isn't it unbelievable how hard it is to take it off, but how easy it is to put it back on?!?!?!?! I've been there (where I ate everything that didn't eat me first); try to journal what you did that lead to that "falling off the wagon" so that you can do better the next time--and, there will be a next time, so be prepared! Now that it's over, don't give up; get back on track. The sooner you get back into a good routine, the better--and, the easier it will be to take off those pounds!

PATTIETOA:
Congratulations on losing four pounds!!!!! Wow, that's a great lose in eight days! Just don't expect that kind of results every week. If you lose too much too fast, you'll be more likely to put it back on. Be sure you're working on changing your habits and not just "dieting." Absolutely, the nutrition tracker, walking, and meal planning are great tools and by all means, the "one day at a time" attitude is a good way to look at the journey! Hey, don't forget to post your weigh-in on the Start Page (and don't forget to save it); this will automatically change your weight ticker. (Your ticker currently shows at starting weight of 192, with the current weight of 191.5; if you lost four pounds, it should show 188.)

IMADAREDEVIL:
WooHoo to another two pounds. Taking off fourteen pounds in eight weeks is great!!!!! Please, don't forget to tally your loss each time. (I went back to my 04/17/09 comment to pick up your loss since your last report--on 04/08, you reported that you'd lost twelve pounds in six weeks.)

JAZTEC:
Congratulations on losing 6.2 pounds!!!!! Weighing in on Mondays to help stay on track on the weekends is a good idea!!!!! Many SP members have changed their weigh-in days to Mondays for the same reason. Thanks for mentioning it; ideas like this are extremely useful to new members and repeating helpful ideas are good for all of us to hear periodically!

BUTTERFLY1252:
With going to Weight Watchers on Monday night, it looks like you'd already picked up on that thought.

Okay ladies, I've picked up the tally from DESERTDREAMERS and added/subtracted from there; please someone check my figures for accuracy.

Kat

Group Weight Tally: 3534.3 + 8.0 (CORKEY58) = 3542.3 - 3.0 (MADOUGL) = 3539.3 + 4.0 (PATTIETOA) = 3543.3 + 2.0 (IMADAREDEVIL) = 3545.3 + 6.2 (JAZTEC) = 3551.5 + 0.0 (BUTTERFLY1252) = 3551.5

Woohoo, I'm so excited! I just seriously started my Sparkpeople experience last Monday and today when I got on the scale (Tuesdays are my weigh-in days), I was down 4 pounds! I think it totally has to do with logging in my food on the Nutrition Tracker. I just put it all down there and somedays I went over (like Sunday) but most days I managed to stay at the high end of my allotment of calories without going over! And I've been using the recipes and ideas from the meal planners, too. I started walking again yesterday - 40 minutes after work, and I'm going to do that today, too. I believe in the one day at a time philosophy, so that's how I'm taking it - just one day at a time. I've got a wedding coming up this weekend so we'll see how I do next Tuesday! Thanks for listening! emoticon

I have been with Sparkpeople since 3/17/2009 and just found this forum. I have lost 8 pounds so far and I have at least 16 more to go!! This has been so helpful to me as I tried to loose weight for over 6 months without any success. Logging in and keeping track of my goals and reading the artcles is a great motivation for me. MIMORR and TX_LADY:

So happy that you want to join us on this thread. This thread has some great members who are there to support, encourage, make recommendations, and even give the sometimes needed "kick in the butt" to get you moving again. Basically, the group weight tally is done manually; adding weight losses and subtracting when there's a gain. If you catch an error in either one, please make the correction so we don't continue for several more posts before the mistake is realized. And, if the previous person didn't carry forth the tally, please pick it up. Stop by on more than just your weigh-in days and let us know how you're doing; also, this will give you not only the opportunity to encourage others, but it's a great way to get to know the members a little better.

MIMORR, check out the videos that are posted under the "Healthy Lifestyle." Though they are short (usually about ten minutes), you can repeat them.

Good morning. It was a good week. My goal was to be 177 by my birthday next week, (like I was last year), but I guess it won't happen. So my new short goal now is 170 by May 30. It will be hard. 2.28 per week, with a 3 days vacations, my birthday, and my son visiting for four days in the middle. Am I setting myself up for failure? Also back in 2001 I was exercising regular at a gym. There was a class called body pump. I loved it, but they discontinued because it was some kind of franchise and the gym decided not to renew their license and they stop offering the class. I loved the class. I got really thin. Since then I have been looking for a DVD or even a cd with instructions. No luck. Any suggestion from you guys? Have a wonderful week.

WooHoo!!!! Congrats on taking off another two pounds this week; glad you're still going strong as you enter your eighth week with SP.

DESERTDREAMERS:
Way to take that pound back off again!

BEENSEENU52:
Sorry you found that strayed pound! Make sure you stick to the plan; hopefully, you'll be like DESERTDREAMERS and take it back off next week! (And, by the way, I don't want it!)

JORJA51:
Welcome to SP and the 50+ Females! team; so glad to have you stop by this thread. And, do visit this thread frequently, not just on your weigh-in days. As information, report weight losses by adding to the last posted tally; if you happen to have a weight gain (sorry, but it does happen) then subtract from the tally. If you notice an error in the addition or subtraction, please correct it asap; don't worry about offending us by catching the error (I've probably made more than anyone else!). Since we also share a lot on this thread, please also report the latest group weight tally at the end of your message; this make it easier for the next person posting a loss or gain.

Kat

Well hello there. I haven't lost anything yet cause I just started but I wanted to say thank you for the e-mails inviting me in and the encouragement. Just found the e-mails today lol didn't realize I had e-mail. My name is Georgina, I'm 51, and about 25lbs over weight. My biggest problem is that I love to bake. And baking is a great stress reliever for me. And of course I love to eat the baking. I do believe it's going to be one of my biggest hurdles. Well here's to all of you and I'm jumping in with both feet!!

Peggy (MADOUGL):

Since I eat out quite a lot, I've learned to order certain foods (and, by all means, stay away from others), so that I can still eat healthy. Most restaurants will accommodate specials requests. In the future, order foods that keep the sugar, salt, carbs, and fat to a limit. Also, order sauces, dressings, and condiments "on the side."

Like you, I've noticed that if I have a lot of sugar and carbs at a meal, I feel tired and sluggish.

Diane (DIANNIEJ):
Wow, girl!!!!!! Congrats on taking off another two pounds this week! You've certainly had a couple of great two weeks that, by far, made up for that gain you had to report; way to stick with the plan!!!!!

Last week we went on vacation and I ate like my husband did.
I could sure tell the difference how I felt. Adding sugar, carbs, and the salt in the food you get out in the restaurants made me tired and bloated.

Anna (IMADAREDEVIL):

WooHoo to losing another two pounds (since your last report on 04/08/09) and a total of twelve pounds in six weeks!!!!!!

Hey, don't forget to add to the tally each time you report a loss; and, if by chance you have to report a gain, you'll need to subtract from the tally.

Congratulations on losing a pound;one pound at a time is okay!

As for changing your goal weight, go to your page and after clicking "Edit my page" (top right corner), about half way down the page, you'll see the weight ticker. After making the changes, don't forget to save it before you exit.
