Dear LAURENBNJ,

The 25k is too far from my present abilities and plans but here is the ''from 5k to 10k'' program. Now, I am finishing 2nd week.

Good luck to you too! But rather it is not a matter of luck but of determination!

End of week 1:
7 miles run and 3 miles walk.-

I would like to thank you all my Spark friends for your comments.

There is one more thing that I want to mention here: The effort and the training program was never easy, on the contrary, it was from difficult to hard or even to very hard sometimes. But it was never to the point of exhaustion.

This 5k training program is so cleverly sneaky! Every session ended just before the time that I could say ''I give up, I can do no more''. It builds up little by little and each time the session finished well before it got really hard.

Each time, the satisfaction that I had managed to run a little more, cleared all traces of tiredness.

I heartily advice you first to start a 5k walking program and after that a 5k running program.

Dear SEONAG,

Let me tell you some more about my exercising program.

I have been attending Pilates classes for 3 years now and I love it! I do not even dream of stopping Pilates. I do Pilates 3 times a week, 1 hour each class.

All this was fine with the exception that food became my disaster. We all know that only correct nutrition/diet can help us loose weight. Exercise helps us get strong and fit. I kept eating so much.

I had become so discouraged by the end of April but then, all by chance, I found the SparkPeople site and I was so motivated that all seemed so easy to achieve. I started dieting right away and I also started the 5k running program that I found in here.

For me this meant ''from couch to 5 kilometres'' because Pilates is not an aerobic exercise and I was not fit at all for running. I had never in my life tried running before but, as I've told you, this SP 5k program seemed so easy to start and so assuring that everybody could do it, that I decided to give it a try.

To my extreme surprise I succeeded according to plan! By the end of 8 weeks was able to run 5 kilometres nonstop!

This occupied 1 hour 3 times per week, so, along with Pilates, everyday I do 1 hour of intense physical activity.

I kept running after completing my goal. I got so enthusiastic over this, I got so motivated by my unexpected success that now, in September, I am starting a new running training program that I have also found in here ''from 5k to 10k in 12 weeks''. Yes, I am sure I will do this too! Before Christmas I will be able to run 10 kilometres (6.25 miles) nonstop, me, who less than a year ago could not run to the other corner of the street because I could not breath and because my legs just could not do it.

What's bigger motivation than personal success? Dreams come true, u know! One hour every day for this feeling and these results is the least I can pay. It's really nothing compared to what I have gained in self esteem and in physical condition.

Sorry if I have tired you with my long answer, but I really believe that this result is worth the 1 hour per day and I hope that you will be motivated and make the decision yourself!

How much time do you give to exercise? That sounds like a lot to me. Of course, if you're training for a marathon, it would have to be a lot. emoticon
