Wonderful! That's pretty fast. I guess your body was ready to let go.

I stayed home from work today because of my 5-day old cold. I probably should have stayed in bed more, but I'm still glad I took the day. I'm not cured yet, but will work tomorrow.

Sick days are considered free days. I nibbled a bit and feel fine about it. I"m feeling like I'm ready to take things more seriously in May.

Doing better. I make sure that my plates include something I really love for the calorie dense portion of my meal, and that I include plenty of produce to fill out the rest. I think it's important to enjoy while still getting some good nutrients in.

Doing well on No S. Have changed up the weekends a bit - no seconds or snacks on weekends, but whatever I want that fits on a plate. That seems to be working for me mentally as well - not focusing on food so much.

Happy May everyone!!!

I have a cold and picked at food after lunch and into the dinner hour. It probably didn't add up to a plate, but still not a satisfying experience. Oh, well.

Ahhhhhh, you are right, Oolala. Beating myself up is not productive. I'm glad it's Monday...another opportunity to do it right!

And compassion for yourself, Catservant!

I'm considering getting this series for myself, but for anger and feelings of incompetence at work. (It occurred to me recently that I feel a lot worse about those than I do about my eating, and I think making progress there would actually support better eating.) I read this woman's book and have heard her on a TED talk and a webinar. However, I'm in an online course now that meets for several more weeks and also involves some meditative practices. I don't want to overload myself and end up not really getting the benefit of either.

I've been doing poorly. So poorly, in fact, that I've considered just throwing in the towel. I just don't think there's another alternative that is more doable and livable than No S. I am the decision maker about what I put in my mouth...I just need to develop some backbone and determination and make this work!

Puppy, many people use one or two snacks plus their three meals as kind of training wheels. They often find that they can drop it after awhile.

The reason Reinhard recommends trying to wean oneself off even healthy snacks is because people end up feeling they've already had something healthy and tend to then fill the place that food would have taken on a meal plate with something less nutritious.

But all in due time.

I have been having a bad time, as some of you might know. Thankfully, I think the four years of success have kept it from getting ridiculous, although that is relevant. I have a cold which is making it a bit easier today, even though I could be silly about it, too. Also, having visited Nepal and several of yesterday's earthquake- destroyed cultural sites back in the late '70's not to mention the 2,500+ people dead leaves me feeling rather sobered up today. I really have to keep my stressors in perspective.

I totally agree with you Puppy. In the past, I was on or off, mostly off, which turned a bad meal into several bad days or more.

The No S is so easy. It's easy to fit into a general lifestyle, with cooking for family, occasionally eating out, and having a small social life.

I found out my husband is thinking about bariatric surgery, and it's been easier than ever to comply with the guidelines, because I never want to be in that position myself. I do think if he chooses to do that, my life will be a lot easier diet wise myself.

I started on No S on February 10. I haven't followed it perfectly, by any means, as I find no snacks to be the hardest rule to follow. I have decided to allow and limit myself to one piece of fruit between meals so that when that urge strikes me I can eat one healthy item and a glass of water and then wait until the next meal. Two weeks ago, I added the commitment of doing 30 minutes of exercise a day. This combination seems to be working for me and I'm happy to say that at this point (2.5 months) I have gone from 199 to 191.6! That's 7.5 pounds, so I'm excited!

In the past, being a detail person, I have always believed the only way I could lose weight was to count calories. But, in reality, that is very hard to do consistently, so I had an all ON or all OFF mentality, and most of the time, I was OFF. I'm finding No S is a plan I can LIVE with. I can do it any where and in any circumstance - it's "DO able" and I'm loving the simple guidelines, yet the freedom it gives me!

Gorged myself in rebellion these past two weeks. I was bitter over other things and decided that I could do what I wanted, when I wanted. Talk about a tantrum!

Now that the tantrum is over and I can think clearly again, I am recommitting to a day with lower food consumption. No sweets, No seconds, and No snacks - one day at a time!

I injured my knees, and that played into my mindset quite a bit. Now I'm finding new ways to move each day so that I let those overuse injuries heal. I'm just happy that it's not a major injury.

To me, even more wonderful is the delightful way you got there! I imagine you enjoying delicious meals and being very happy with most if not all your plates of food. The way it was meant to be.

BTW, are you by any chance using a graphic charting device other than Spark's to show your moving average?

Well I slid off the program at Easter... and it took me until Wednesday to get back on. Since then, I've done well. And I feel so much better and so much more in control.

I'm actually not too unhappy about this - the honeymoon phase lasted a really long time, and I wondered what would happen. To get back on the horse and continue going is a new thing for me. I still like the concept, and really feel good about myself when I do it!!

I've been having an awful time getting back in the swing of things since I got home from my three week holiday. Didn't do too badly while traveling, but just have been off track since I got back. It has gotten me down mentally, but I will pick myself up and get back on the horse one more time, or as many times as it takes!

Tornado, our rebellion/freedom desires can make us ponder and eventually recommit with even more acceptance if we see that the plan is just really about making life easier. Sure, we might be able to train ourselves to eat extras very lightly OR we might have a miracle happen in which the compulsive element disappears and we can eat totally on demand without ever eating too much, but these are the exceptions in the world of slim cultures. Their default is NOT deviating from meals. And they enjoy their eating life immensely! Only you can decide if it's worth the trade, but it's great to give yourself a solid experience for a long enough time to really compare. After all this dickering over food over the years, you deserve that! but only you can give it to you.

I'm on your side- the side of peace.

I allowed myself extra bits of food this past week, and even though it doesn't show on the scale, I can tell it's beginning to change my mindset. I'm becoming an habitual eater again instead of a mindful eater. Welcome new month and new weather! Time to reassess and tweak my habits.

Had a great S day. Even lost a little. Need to ramp up the exercise - this week was super busy, so next week looks like it'll be a little better schedule wise.

Tornado, sick days are considered to be like S days. Do whatever you feel you need to do to take care of yourself. Eventually, you get better at determining whether you are fooling yourself of not.

I've been continuing to have lots of little failures, and even a few big ones. Though weight is not the measure, all my pants still fit.

Wasn't so good on Monday but yesterday went better. Ended up eating a mini meal after work though because I had to eat dinner early before going in to work but No sweets ,seconds or snacks.
