WOW!!! The activity on the board is just AWESOME!!!!

I didnt even turn on my laptop this weekend, we went to a family reunion on Saturday, that didnt help my diet at all. Then yesterday we tried to build some more fence, yet the weather didnt hold out for us. Hopefully we will get it done next weekend! Heck, we have to, I have two mares that are foaling!

I weighed in this morning, and Im actually up a pound! I know its because of my poor choices last week, Im not even going to try and make excuses. This week will be better!

Glad to see everyone is doing good, yall have a great day!

I am about to crawl into bed--after I squeeze out a few more SparkPoints emoticon .

Yep, tomorrow is weigh in and I am hoping to see at least a 1 pound loss. I was showing 1 pound down this morning and I have stuck to my calorie goals and also exercised today.

Hoping for a good report tomorrow,

Val

Hello Everyone! I've missed a couple of days checking in. I just couldn't help it yesterday. The weather was too nice to be inside all day except for doing my housework. I've enjoyed another day of great weather and doing just what I've wanted to do. I got in a couple of long walks also.

Beulah: Hope you're feeling better...those chest colds can be so miserable. How's the puppy doing?

Val: Glad you made it through the challenging day and remained on track and focused. That is a great accomplishment.

Deb: Hope you are feeling better also. Bummer you had to go in to work sick. Take care of yourself.

April: How was the championship game? Hope you were able to get out and enjoy some of the beautiful weather.

Boopster: Congrats on the 1/2 marathon. Your bootcamp and hike sound like alot of fun!

Effdot: Good to see you. Life does get in the way sometimes, doesn't it? You betchya housework counts!!

FoxxyRoxxyD: my thoughts exactly...2 days of not checking in and I feel so behind. I am so glad to see so many people getting and staying active on the thread. Glad your back is better and you are back to running.

Debbie: Hope you can get things settled with insurance...they don't always make life easy, do they? Glad you got to get out and enjoy the day with your granddaughter!

Patty: Our rain is supposed to start Mon or Tues. I wish it would just stay like this weekend (60 and sunny) for a little longer. We certainly haven't had drought conditions here though...lots of snow has kept us hydrated. lol

I haven't weighed yet, so not sure how it's going to be next week, but I've been doing pretty good on my food and getting in exercise...so hopefully, I will have lost at least a pound when I weigh in!

Hope everyone has a great week. I will try to check in more often...last week was crazy busy. Maybe the coming week will be a little quieter.

Everyone, take care! Stay focused and keep up with all your good work!!

Anything that you do can be considered exercise as you are putting out some kind of effort.

Just a dreary, cold and rainy day. After an 18 month drought we are happy to get ANY rain.

Hey there EFFDOT! Housework is exercise - look in the SPARK fitness - really, it is there!
Hope everyone is having a wonderful day! Met my friends for a morning walk (in the fog) and then to brunch. Had them drop me about a mile from home so I could walk a bit of the brunch off!
The sun finally started to burn through as I got home!
Have a wonderful day! emoticon

Haven't really done any traditional exercise this weekend. I've been doing some heavy duty spring cleaning so it's required lots of moving things in and out, lifting heavy things so I consider that to be exercise enough. I'm going to do some Tae-Bo tonight to feel as though I've really done some cardio.

Get it right, get it tight.

Hi all....Busy with hubby's doctor appointments, arguments with insurance companies that are getting nowhere and moving the rest of our belongings here to my daughter's.

Spent today though outdoors with my 3 year old granddaughter! Included me walking a 5 mile round trip to the park and back pushing her up and down hills

PHEW...we both played fast and hard at the park but JADEN got to sleep in the stroller on the 2 mile trip back home while Nannie pushed up and down the hills which didn't 'disappear' while we were busy playing.....not fair!!!! LOL .....

BUT I just logged the 2 hours walk/jog time plus 30 minutes play time which was more climbing chasing and hiking the trails near the falls .... Over 1000 calories burned!!!

Used the MapMyRun feature to map out the route to the park... I'm going to map out some of the alternate routes we walk around the neighborhood as well!!!

Had baked chicken, brown rice, and green beans for dinner!!!!

Have a great evening all.....

EFFDOD I hope things get easier at work and with school.
ROXXY Good luck on the C25K. You will do fine.

Today I did not go work out. It seems that my allergies have turned into a chest cold so I had to be a good girl and take care of my self. I am bumming.

Oh my goodness - so many messages - I'd better not skip two days checking in anymore!

I finally got back on the running road and knocked out 2 runs - my back is much better! My daughter and I do our last run of the C25K program tomorrow! Yesterday we ran 2.25 miles in 30 minutes - our fastest time yet! The next two weeks is all about speed and mileage. Our goal is to RUN it in under 45 minutes so if we can keep that pace or better we shouldn't have a problem... right?:) I still have a hard time believing that I am doing this... who is this running woman anyway?

I replied to a couple of folks on their pages or in email on subjects that I thought I may be able to lend some help on.

To everyone else - I wish you a wonderful weekend, time to enjoy it and strength to stay focused on your goals.

Just wanted to drop in and say Hello to the team. I did post a weigh in today - I was out of town for the start of the challenge and yep, I gained a couple of pounds - just means I should be able to post a loss next week.
I had a great time in New Orleans doing the 1/2 Marathon. Check my blog Good Times and Spark Friends for comments and pictures. It was a great time.
Wednesday I went to a Fitness Boot Camp and worked my sore muscles. Thursday I went hiking with a meetup group I am part of. We went to Chief Mountain and it was beautiful. I will be posting pictures from that today.
And then today - I signed up for the Fit Boot Camp - going to go 2 times a week with several of my friends. That ought to get the scale moving in the downward position.
I will try to drop in more often. Love this group! emoticon

Beulah - Hope your allergies are better and have fun with that new puppy. Always a joy to melt into the household.
Charlie - Great job on your exercise. Boot Camp is not easy and one time per day might be plenty for you right now.
Val - AWESOME!! Might try epsom salt bath to help with the aches and pains.
LADYLUVSFALL - GOOD JOB!
Patty - you are welcome, I am glad I could help. Good luck to you I'm sure you will meet you goals in no time.
MYDELOO - congrats on 4 days and more importantly, having the courage to move in the right direction. Your plan sounds great and I'm certain that you will find improvement in all aspects of your life.
Deb - hope that your cold/allergy/sinuses are better
Tammy - Congrats on your walk and nice to see those tiny blooms to tell us Spring is almost here.
EVERYONE ELSE - hope this month is off to a great start for you.

WE are having some great weather (for a change). I plan to be outdoors as much as possible this weekend. Our girls play for the district championship tomorrow so I will be inside for part of the day watching the game. My eating hasn't been the greatest but I have been doing fairly well on my exercise.

Hope everyone has a great weekend emoticon

Oooh, it's 10:15 p.m. and I am barely getting on. It's been a good day in terms of the March Challenge but it was also a very busy, very personally challenging day. But I made it through it without giving up on my health goals!

Hello Team! Just a quick hello before I head off to bed. I got in a 60 minute walk OUTSIDE this afternoon. I went by myself, with my newly updated playlist...it was wonderful.

My Hyacinths (sp?) are popping up, my tulips are popping through....oh, spring is in the air!! I am so ready.

I will be back in the morning to catch up with everyone. I hope you all had a great day and are staying with your challenges and goals.

Hi everyone
Well I've been completely MIA. My eating well/working out has definately taken a back seat int he last couple of weeks. So as you all know I broke up with my boyfriend. I've also come to the realization that my drinking is a problem and so I went to an AA meeting and have now been alcohol free for 4 days. I came down with a cold and have just been wanting the extra sleep instead of going to the gym.

This weekend I am heading to VA to sell my condo. I lived there for five years, it was my first house and its a sort of bittersweet weekend. However, its also sort of a line in the sand. I'll have sold my condo, broke up with boyfriend, gotten rid of my furniture (I left my boyfriend keep it). I am on a plan to be debt free (CC debt at least) by the end of next year and am working to find a new, healthy relationship. I have given up alcohol and am planning on signing up to run a 5K in the spring. So its the start of a new era!

Sorry for being gone, I hope to be on here more starting next week.

Do or do not, there is no try.

Deb I hope that you feel better soon.

Patricia you do keep busy with all your jobs.

April thank you for going over what you do for Paula as I needed to hear the same information.

BJumpingforJoy I hope that you feel better.

Charlie sometimes you can not always do what you want to do. You will get there though.

Good luck to those who are getting ready to run.

Right now my biggest problem is the self sabotaging. Thanks for the suggestions that were made. I am planning to measure and weigh my food. I am putting notes around to help me remember. I am trying to ask more questions before I eat.

Day 3 of the Challenge went better for me. Walked 4 miles before work and kept within my calorie range today even though it was another crazy day at work. I'm traveling tomorrow which is always a challenge for exercise & food.

I have finished Day 3 of the Challenge strongly :) A long snowshoe hike this morning and I still stayed within my calorie range without eating any more. I do ache tonight though; I think an Advil will help.

Well, I hope the new addition settles in quickly & that you feel better soon.

My exercise challenge is going well. I've been going to boot camp & also started the 'Spark your way to 10k' program but I've been exercising once a day rather than the 2 times I was planning to, so there's room for improvement :)

Paula- try to fill your void with exercise, organizing or something that you have been meaning to do but just haven't had the time. Another thing that really works for me is to rid the house of everything that is unhealthy. When you think you want something to eat, make yourself drink a full glass of water, wait ten minutes and if you are still hungry, go for a healthy snack such as a piece of fruit or raw veggies. They will keep you satisfied longer than empty calories. You may want to invest in a scale so that you know your portions are accurate.

Tammy- I do the same thing you described - read from my last post up and jot down notes so that I can reply accurately.

I didn't get to work out today because I had Dr. appts. Tonight I am going to the District playoff game and then plan to workout at home before bed.

Hope that everyone else has a wonderful day!!!

Welcome to all newbies....and I hope that everyone is doing well.

I want to thank everyone for there encouragement. It lifts me up.

The most difficult thing that I find at the moment with trying to stay within my calorie range and well ummmmmmmmmmmm, not to pig out, is that I am bored and stressed all in one. I went from having 40 hrs a week in February down to 13, so now I am trying to figure out what it is that I can do that will help me not toss caution to the wind and eat. I'm an emotional eater, I know this but it seems to just kick in and take control of my brain. Any suggestions?

Im doing pretty good on the challenge . . . I havent had any fast food breakfast, actually had my Carnation Instant Breakfast the last three mornings, and it was good. I havent done any of my DVDs, I am going to try to work that in tonight, I may also try to get in a short walk with my lab. She needs it almost as much as I do.

Hows everyone else? Ya, be sure to go by Fauve and show her some support, she is going to need it!

Im off to the house to start my 2nd and 3rd jobs, LOL!!!

Hey everyone! Hope your week is going well and if it isn't hope it gets better real soon!

My March goals are all about running that 5K on the 20th and so far March is not going well. I tweaked my back last Thursday and haven't run since Friday and boy am I feeling it! Doing better today - going for a run in a little bit if the weather holds - may be a run walk but at least I will be back out there.

Ate horribly over the weekend on a visit to Savannah but walked about 16 miles sightseeing so the scale may not go down this week but it should at least stay the same - I can live with that!

Thank you to those who have stopped by my page to keep me on track. The last two days have been a little hectic but I will be checking in on folks as well!

Take care and here's to a Fabulous rest of the week!

Hello Everyone! Well, here we are...day 3! How's it going so far? So far so good..hopefully I will see the scale go down by next week!

Jen: The threads do get busy. What I do is scroll to my last post and then read upwards from there. This may sound a little compulsive, but I make notes so I can remember what I wanted to comment on. After reading several posts I get confused as to who was doing what. Good luck getting your calorie range adjusted...gotta find what works for you.

Patty: SP has some really good articles on portions. You might search for one and see if it helps. Do you use a food scale? I bought these super cool spoons from WW that measure an exact cup...I LOVE them!!

Diane: kudos on hitting the gym and staying with your exercise!!

Buelah: How are you adjusting to your newest addition? He sure is a cutie pie!

Paula: make sure your calorie range is right. I personally have to stay at the very low end (or below) what SP says I should have. We are all different. The amount of exercise you get makes a difference too. Good luck.

Anamia: Glad you are feeling better. Woohoo on being binge free for 9 days. That's GREAT!!

Deb: A crazy work schedule is my worst enemy. It totally throws off my routine. It causes me to exercise at an odd time (sometimes not at all) and I always seem to eat more when I am working odd hours.

Patricia: how are you doing with the challenge? Is your weather getting better?

April, Crystal, Mydeloo: how are you all doing?

I got an email from Fauve (I posted a thread to update everyone) and she may be away for a little while, she has had a family tragedy. It would probably mean alot to her if we let her know we are thinking of her.

I got in my walk/jog last night...not as long as I had hoped...it was colder than I thought. I am doing it again tonight though. I have a 5k coming up on March 13th...I know I can't jog it all, but I'll do what I can.

I better get back to work..hope everyone has a great day! Keep up the good work!!

HI paula..I think each person loses at their own rate. Some lose alot of weight some very little the first weeks.. I think sometimes it does take time for your body to readjust. It may take longer in your case, but it is still weight lost in the long run, and probably if it comes off slowly you'll be lest apt to gain it all back. Your body will adapt better to it..

Stay at it.. drink your water.. get some activity in.check your portions. Hopefully you will see changes.. soon..
I can honestly say I have not had very good luck since I started spark.. I've had to many starts, and stops.. let excuses stop me from reaching my goals.. So I'm back on the wagon.. and plan on succeeding this time! This is the place for great support and positive thinking..and so much information.. hugs Diane

Baby steps.. Will keep me going!

Sooooo, the challenge is to just do the goals that we had placed on our spark page? Last week and so far this week I have stayed within my calorie goal, however, I haven't lost anything. Does it take some time for your body to realize there is a calorie deficit before lbs are lost? If so, my body is really really slow. Even when I was on a 10 wk plan at weight watchers, I didn't really lose and I was very diligent with what I was suppose to do. I feel like I'm doing all the right things but to no avail.

HI paula...You can do this, if you have any questions, feel free to ask. Sign up in the challenge tread and decide a goal of weight lost and post your weekly weigh in. I like this challenge because it is so personal.. each person picks the goals they want to work on to help reach that weigh lost goal.. I'm glad your here and have signed up.. emoticon

Day 2 is going great for me! I went to the gym did 30 minutes of aerobic and strength training as well.. I feel so good.. and looks like Ill be reaching my other goals today!

I hope everyone is doing well... Diane

Hi Everyone -
I joined the team last week, and SP the week before.
I think this is definitely the team for me - y'all are full of energy and encouragement. Just what I need!
I can see it may take me a bit to figure out how to read these threads (I'm better at email than bulletin boards) but it'll just take a few days.
I'm so glad to have found you!
I am thinking that this month may not be the best for me as I just "discovered" what I had long suspected, that I was not eating enough calories - so I am working on doing that - and until my body adjusts I may not loose...but in the long run it will be better for me, so it is the right thing to do.
emoticon
PS - Thanks TX.PATRICIA for finding me my first day on SP and inviting me to this great team.

April, good tips for eating out!! You are so right about the salads. When I was doing WW I would get 25 points each day. I went to Arbys and ordered a salad thinking it was safe and just a few points. When I got back to work and calculated my points that darn salad was 10 points. How crazy is that??

Debbie - Hills of GA sounds like a great workout. Hope the weather isn't too bad and that snow goes away soon.
Deb - sounds like you are a cleaning machine--like to come do my house?? HA HA
Val - when eating out it's always good to research the menu before arriving at the restaurant. If this is not possible, always go for "poached", "steamed" or "grilled". Stay away from heavy sauces and of course fried food. Salads can be deceiving. Always ask for your dressing on the side and watch out for high fat foods added to improve taste. If you can go without the dressing, you can save a lot of calories. If not, dip your fork slightly into the dressing before your salad so that you have the dressing taste with every bite in moderation. Hope this helps.
Diane - YEA!! Good for YOU!!!
Patty- welcome to the team
Tammy - hope you are doing well
FoxxyRoxxyd - hope you were able to get your walk in
JOHAL52 - way to get a handle on things. You will be successful.
ANAMIA8, Charlie, SKYLARK7 - welcome to all of you.
Patricia - hope that work is going well for you and you are able to ride some.
FAVUE - How have you been?
MYDELOO - How have you been?
Donna - How have you been?
I so hope that I haven't forgotten anyone and if I did PLEASE know that it wasn't on purpose.

Today marks the 7th (workday) in a row that I have worked out at lunch emoticon emoticon
I usually read while on the elliptical during lunch as I can't seem to find any other time. I am about 3/4 of the way through "The Spark" and hope to finish by the end of this week.
I hope that everyone is having a Terrific Tuesday!!

Hey Team! Well, checking in late is turning into a habit with me. Work has been so busy...yesterday I worked 12 hours 6 in the first part of the day, off for a couple and back to do 6 more. Now I'm tired today since I got home late. lol

Patty: Great job on getting in your cardio, strength training AND a walk! You are off to a fabulous start!!

Skylark: WOOHOO!! Great job! Doesn't it make your feel so good to meet all your goals?

Johal: 150 isn't too bad..you can work that out pretty easy. Eating out can be tough! Good for you having your protein up...I am consistently low on protein, but I'm working on it.

Deb: Cleaning and scrubbing is quite a workout. I think I need to start a spring cleaning workout myself. Do you use Leslie's Walk Away The Pounds? I LOVE her dvds...certainly no excuse when you have them!

Debbie: hills add alot of strength training to your cardio...especially those really long ones..you can feel them in your glutes and thighs by the time you get to the top. I bet the grandkids LOVED hip hopping with their very cool Grandma!!

Sandra: yay!! Is that the sweating to the oldies? His workouts look like alot of fun, I've never tried them though!

Where is the rest of the gang? Hope you are all doing good.

I am going for a run right after I get home today...no excuses, not starting anything else..going straight in, changing clothes and back out the door. I'm shooting for 4 miles, although I won't be able to run it all!

Gotta get back to work...have a great day everyone!!
