Day 51, I lost 4.5 pounds, 3 inches at my waist and 1 at the hips. I am down one pant size. This is less weight loss than I thought, but I look slimmer and I am in top shape. I am happy.

The best has yet to come.

Yeah it can definitely be frustrating to not see some instant results. However monitor your progress by measurements & fit test results.

When I did my first round of Insanity, I only lost about 4 pounds, but I dropped an entire pant size with all the inches I lost (from a size 6 to a 4). At first it was discouraging, but I realized the gains I was making in my fitness abilities & inches lost were making up for the lack of scale movement. My "after" photos are the wedding ones on my Sparkpage if you wanted to check it out.

reeku731 - I feel exactly the same way. For the amount of work I put in to it, I've lost 6 pounds in 3 weeks, which is great but I have lots to lose too...Yesterday, I only lost 0.6 and that's where I got discouraged.
Tomorrow I restart the Insanity meal plan...hoping for better results. But I do feel it in my body...so something IS working.
Good luck and keep at it!

I am having the same problem. I just do not understand it. I should be dropping weight like mad. My diet is very healthy and these workouts are freakish!! How am I not dropping weight? It does not make sense to me that a person my size isn't dropping. I have a lot of weight to lose. I could see for some of you who are very small. It's really making me want to quit working out all together. Did anyone out there have this same problem and then have it turn around after a few weeks or even a month because I'll be quite honest- 5 pounds a month will not be ok for me. I understand I am losing inches but I have quite a bit further to go and feel that if I am working that hard, it better come off a lot faster than this.

I just finished week 3 and barely lost 2 pounds. But, here it is, but I lost 1.5 inch around my waist and 1 inch around my thighs. So, it is working, but not the scale way.

I feel you! I didn't gain weight during month one, but I just started month 2 this week and my weight went up 2 pounds. I'm just gonna stay off the scale for a few days. I'm pretty sure it's water from kicking up the workouts, but still, it does suck to see!

Progress pictures & measurements are a great way to track your progress. Since you had mentioned that your clothes were fitting tighter, I think this gain is associated to fluid retention from starting the new workout and not from muscle gains (yet). Keep up the awesome workouts and you will start seeing progress soon!

I did take some before pictures but I don't want to look at them until the end when I have my 30 and 60 day pictures too!

You will also want to compare body measurements too. I always recommend taking good comprehensive before and after pictures. Hide them so only you see them if you want but they will come in handy when you compare your progress from month to month.

Nope I understand. What I'd recommend is staying away from the scale completely until the day of your next fit test. This should allow your body enough time to adjust and recouperate so you can hopefully see some progress!

Thanks so much, I figured it was fairly normal but it's still never fun to see those numbers go up :)

This is completely normal as long as you're keeping your nutrition in line. When your muscles undergo stresses and fill with fluid to repair themselves - thus a temporary weight gain.

Here's a link to a blog that was written about it www.dailyspark.com/blog.asp?post=why

I think it varies for everyone but if the weight gain continues, I'd suggest you look at your nutrition. I didn't lose a lot until I really upped my calories. I went from eating 1500 to 1800 and its helped.

So I am on day 11 of Insanity and I have noticed that I gained 2 pounds since I started, I know that muscle weighs more than fat but I didn't expect a 2 pound gain already. Maybe it's just one of those days but my pants feel tighter! I'm hoping it's also water retention and that I'll lose it soon. What do you think?
