Hey all. Just stopping by. I have my sister-in-law and her hubby coming to sample my hubby's menudo he made last night (I AM NOT A FAN) and to meet Max for the first time. I have studying to do but I'm just not really focusing at all. I think part of it is due to an email I just got from Kat who is really suffering emotionally with the situations with both of my uncles. She is so far away and while there are family and friends around her they are not the ones she WANTS to be around (ie - US) so she is really having a hard time with things. As much as I'm not thrilled with the fact that they are allowing her to date her boyfriend is the only one she says who is really trying to give her any comfort. So for that I am eternally grateful to that young man. (Whom, btw, I do like as a person just not happy with her dating.)

So I am sitting here avoiding studying and trying to find a way to just wrap my head around my family situation right now. Hope all have a good Sunday. Talk to you later.

glad to see you on this board too Susan!!!

My husband went to the clinic today because he wasn't feeling good and sure enough they put him on z pack. It's beautiful outside and he wanted to take a family walk but just didn't feel up to it! He's lying down right now. My friend is coming over for dinner tonight. Ribs and baked sweet potatoes!!

Hi all. Just got on the computer for the first time all day. I got up, took Max outside to go potty, got dressed, and went to pick up my mom to run errands. I have a test to study for so I am trying to get all of my computer stuff out of the way right now. I also have to do laundry as I'm out of 'comfy' panties and have no more jeans to wear to school this week that are clean! That is a bad situation to be in. *snicker* However, now I've got a Max out cold on my lap and I don't want to disturb him until I am ready to kick him off to start making my note cards!

Hope everyone has a great day. Welcome Esprith. Talk to you lovely Texans later!

Good Morning. We don't have insurance at work. One of the ladies, that is about 57, went to the Dr about pain. The Dr said she had a hernia and she needed to go to the country hospital to see a surgeon. The Dr at the county hospital said it wasn't life threatening so gave her a date 3 months from now. Her Dr said it WAS life threatening. She had a family history of osteopreoses and he was treating it with weights and she couldn't do weights now. She had high blood pressure and he was treating that with exercise and since she couldn't take her dance classes or go dancing on weekends, her weight and blood pressure were up.

Mutt and I walked last night. I had dressed for the temp, 51, which was fine except every so ofen the wind would about blow us off the road and that wind was cold. This morning the wind was howling, so I dressed for the wind. That was fine except when I got to where the trees blocked the wind, then I was HOT.

emoticon espirth, what would you like us to call you?

Good morning, It was 51 at walking time this morning, no frost on the car. It is overcast and yucky now. Tomorrow will be a busy day. I drop Mutt at the groomers at 7, get to work at 8, pick Mutt up at 12 and have my message at 3. That last part is me time. DH got me a once a month thing for my shoulder. It helps.

Good morning. Up and about to get ready to go to class today. It is prep for organic test day. LOTS of studying to do for me. I've been bad this semester about keeping up with things so I'm going to have throw myself back into it. Hope you all have a great day. I've got to start getting ready.

Glad Mutt is okay now! Max made it most of the day probably before having to go poop. I was gone from 9:45 until just about 6. Only one little poop and nothing else. Good boy!

Please if you would, pray for my Uncle George who is definitely dying. He has made his peace with everyone and everything and is just waiting now. His family is seeking that same peace. I went to see him today and it was very hard for me because he was not 'my' Uncle George. The cancer and shingles as well as the aggressive chemo have really destroyed him. Thanks all!

Good morning. When I went for my walk this morning Mutt started limping about 3/4 a mile from the house. I couldn't find anything wrong, but took his backpack off him and carried it myself. Mutt would like us to either walk 6 miles before breakfast or run the 3 miles. The Dr says no running and I don't have time for 6 miles, so he wares a backpack with 2 lbs of beans in it so he feels like he went 6 miles. When we got home he was walking fine and played tag with Freyja, so I'm guessing he stepped on a rock wrong.

When I get back from my walk, I run my hand over the car to see if I'm going to need to leave early to get the frost off the car. This morning there was no frost. I came out after breakfast and had to scrape the frost off the car before I could go.

I prefer fresh fruit, but like to keep dried fruit beside my desk for snacks. I userly eat something high in protein, like soynuts or almond butter on a rice cake, but sometimes I want something different.

Maryalice, I know what you mean about talking to yourself! hee hee. I am not a dried fruit fan, but my daughter loves it better than fresh fruit so that is one way we are trying to get her to eat more fruit! I prefer fresh fruit!

Kenyaann, I don't recommend 2 workouts to make up for binging; maybe 1 1/2 today and tomorrow. If you overdo the exercise, you'll be extra hungry, and more likely to take in even more calories tonight.

Anyway, it's unusual for me to be online during the week, but it's been an unusual week. Yesterday school let out at Noon due to the snow and the plummeting temps (well, it got below freezing in the afternoon, anyway). This morning we started 2 hrs. late. And then my son got a fever, so I'm home again with him.

On the bright side, he had me pushing him in his little toy truck for about 10 min., and I'm making sure to get up from the computer every 15 min. I even have a timer going! That way I get other stuff done, my eyes don't get so tired, and I actually get moving a bit.

My hubby surprised me the other day by noticing that my belly was toning up. After having the baby, the skin was so stretched that it hung in thin rolls. (TMI? Sorry!) Now I just look pudgy with stretch marks. Hooray for looking better! That's one of my motivations I have posted. :)

I binged last night! I don't know if it was because I did so good with my weigh in and I thought I could get away with it or what! Now I feel bloated and yucky this morning. Oh well, you live you learn. I'm going to try and fit two workouts in today to make up for it!

HEY! I'm here too! ;)

I just found out that there is a job/internship fair this afternoon at school so I am getting ready to do a resume update. I also need to decide what top I'm going to wear. I've got the bottom half dealt with. *snicker* I just don't know what top to wear. Most of these fairs I've been to have been during the warm months so I've got a ton of cute button down short sleeved tops but really not much in the way of NICE (still) long sleeved ones. Mostly because they have been worn to death this past holiday season at work and have been washed on a weekly basis. They are now faded and have those little pills on them...you know the little fuzz balls? I don't have a nice sweater to wear either really. *sigh* I do wish that Kat were a little 'bigger' in the boob department for this one reason...I could borrow something like that from her closet. I can borrow t-shirts and stretchy tops but not sweaters (well she doesn't have any right now anyway) or button down tops. I'll figure it out by 1:30 when it starts.

Hope everyone had a good day yesterday. I'm off to deal with resume stuff now.

Good morning. I went by Whole foods and they had my seaweed. I love the seaweed snack packs and they are only 25 calories. The thing is they don't always have them. I also like dried fruit, but for some reason the powers that be think dried fruit needs to be sugar coated, so I don't get it very often. This time I saw the had a dieters dried fruit mix, no sugar added.

The last week in February and we are still on January chat. I don't guess it matters, it looks like I'm talking to myself.

Good morning all. Just here in between classes. I may be driving up to Mason tomorrow with my mom because my Uncle George is really sliding downhill fast. His cancer is worse and the aggressive chemo they are giving him is making him too weak to eat or drink most days. We feel we need to see him now while we can because it may be just days or weeks before he passes. I can't promise I'll be around tomorrow at all.

Saturday and yesterday I recruited a total of 4 more members for my Walk MS team, none of them have gone online to register yet but they are coming. That means I need to get 4 more t-shirts so I can start working on them. I have only a few more days to actually get them done and ready for the team to have them. I am thinking if I do the black drawing on them FIRST and then tie-dye them it should be okay. I just know I'm running out of time and the drawing really does take the longest. I have 4 to draw and tie-dye already here in my possession. We'll see how doing taxes goes on Wednesday and Thursday if I am gone tomorrow. Then since I will have to study all day Sunday for my organic test on Monday I will only have a while on Saturday to do the drawing. I'll have to get the rest of the t-shirts purchased in the next 2 days as well. :( I'm debating charging like $5 a shirt for them since I didn't charge team members last year. This year money is WAY tight for me since I've not been called in to work in over a month. *sigh* I just don't know! I'll talk it over with my mom and hubby today at some point.

Well, I have to get ready to head out the door again to go to biochemistry class now. Talk to you lovely Texans later!

Yes, love this Texas weather! No sarcasm here after having lived in Illinois and Michigan though. I can handle the cold or even snow in short bursts, it was just the daily grind when I lived up north that about did me in. Snow is not pretty when it turns gray and to slush on the driveway and roads.

I can't find my ice scraper though. Have a faint memory of tossing it one day when cleaning my car, and we've really needed it this winter!

Have a great week!

Good morning. yesterday I went for my walk in a tee shirt. Tomorrow there will be snow. Welcome to Texas. I saw robins yesterday so spring can't be far off.

Thursday night when I went for my walk I met some lose dogs that I didn't feel were safe for the children that lived next door. I called the police and my concerns were noted, what ever that means. Friday, after school a 10 year old was running to play with a friend when the dogs went for him. I'm glad to say the friends made enough noise to send the dogs running and the boy is ok. The police found the parents a little harder to deal with made worse by the fact they knew I had told the police about the dogs. The police came out, the dogs didn't like the police investigation and the police pulled his gun in self defence. I'll let you finish the story.

I told DD about how the older son took care of his brother. She said he is good that way, but don't count on him. Every once in a while he reminds people he is just 12 by taking off on his bike without telling anyone or any thought about what he needs to do.

Sounds like a nice day indeed Mary Alice! :)

Today I'm off to help at the Daughters of Italy lasagne dinner. My mom is in charge of the dinner itself so OF COURSE I'm going to go support her. I didn't put in my exercise yesterday because I really didn't know how to add it. I walked all over the hall yesterday, carrying pans of lasagne as we finished with them, they had to each weigh about 15-20 lbs because believe me when I say we make them FULL AND STUFFED! Then I also helped carry all sorts of stuff around, ran up and down the stairs to the 2nd floor, basically did a lot of physical activity from just after 10 in the morning until just after 4 in the afternoon. I wasn't completely nonstop but I was going about 89% of the time I was there. My arms hurt a bit today as I was putting trays of lasagne in the fridge, up to the top shelf which is about 2 ft above MY head. ;)

Well, I don't have a LOT of time, I'm trying to get a little computer time in while Max is still soundly asleep so I can not have to worry about it later on today. Hope you all have a good day.

Good morning. Yesterday was Grandma's best day. At lunch time I went to Beka's soccer game and took her out to lunch. She wanted to go to an Asian place. Their food was a little pricey, but there was enough for 3 meals. Then last night DD brought the boys over to spend the night with me. I think I'm here to make sure everything goes the way it should. Big brother (12) says he can take care of his (7 month) brother and is doing a good job of it. I get to hold the baby while big brother fixes breakfast for us.

Great weather in the Houston area. We had a good market day, and are tired out. Glad to see some are finding solutions to losing weight again.

I am finally moving in the right direction also. Sure feels good.

Well, last night was the first time I'd turned on my computer all week, and I didn't even get online. Just played a game for a bit, then went to bed. So. I've been doing really good with breakfast: coffee (with a little Ovaltine) every day, then alternating between a poached egg (microwaved, no less) with one slice of toast (with one small serving of Smart Balance), or one slice of bread with Smart Balance peanut butter and a little homemade berry jam.

Then, 3 days a week I've been going out behind the school and walking for 15-25 min. I alternate walking with short bursts of running, and I go back to just walking when my knees start bothering me. (Arthritis.) In addition, I'm trying to live actively: taking the stairs, parking farther away, leg lifts while I'm sitting at the computer... Last week I lost 2 lbs. I'm hoping Mon. will show I've lost more.

Y'all have a wonderful & blessed week!
B.J.

Good morning. I just got back from my walk. I had a late start, so walked in the light. Total different place. It was quite and looked like rain. I hope the rain holds off. Beka has a game about noon and we planned on going.

If I exercise in the evening, I have to go for a walk to cool compleatly down, or I'm up most of the night.

OY! Just couldn't sleep again. So I'm up and messing around on the computer while my hubby and Max sleep soundly in the bedroom. This happened last night but about 6 I fell back asleep soundly until after 8:30. I'm going to be a busy beaver today...helping to get everything ready for the lasagne dinner tomorrow. It will be fun but sleep before it would have been nice! :p

Hope everyone has a great day today. I'm going to keep reading stuff on the computer. Talk to you later!

So far we've been doing good going for about 40 minutes for Max right now. He isn't used to it yet. I've got to get going!

Suzan, a dog helps allot. 120 min a day is walking or biking with a dog. Mutt has been to Capstan for flees. It is a pill they take once a month. I'm allergic to most types of insecticide and this works great. You get it from your vet.

Mary Alice you ROCK! I haven't been able to say I'm getting more than 40 minutes of exercise in regularly in a LONG while. I really need to in order to lose the little I put back on and keep it off forever! I'm walking in between school days again because I'm taking Max for walks but that still isn't enough. I need to be doing my strength training and I need to be getting on our trainer now that we have a bike computer on it that will tell me how I'm doing.

I realized last night I'm highly allergic to the flea spray we used on Max. I never noticed the horrible reactions when we had Gus but he was notorious for rubbing it all off within hours of getting it on him to begin with. SO, Max has had his bath this morning, first thing. We got his papers the other night and it turns out he has been on the Advantage stuff that you take once a month so his next dose isn't until the middle of March, so we are good. :)

Well, I hope everyone has a great day, even if it is icky and overcast outside. I think I will get on the trainer in a while and go for a bit, if I can keep Max from sticking his nose between the spokes. *sigh* Take care!

Good Morning. My walk was anything but quite and peaceful this morning. It was overcast. I couldn't hardly see the stars. That's fine, but I think every dog was barking, there are 35 on my road alone, the donkeys were braying, the goats were bleating and the roosters were crowing. If the owls were hooting, it was so noisy I couldn't hear them. Now I'm use to the owls and roosters and look forward to them, but what was up with all the other noise.

I'm down another lb this week. I was at 170 so long, I didn't think I was going to move, now this makes 3 weeks in a row I've lost a lb. Except for TVP, I'm trying to stay away from processed foods and I've upped my exercise from 120 min most days and 150 min several days a week to 150 min most days and 180 min several days a week. Remember I have to do light cardo, so do it longer.

Most places call chili, chili. The only place I know that uses the old rules for chili cook off is San Antonio and the have both chili cook offs.

MaryAlice, you are totally correct about chili but around here we call all chili chili. *smirk* The three bean chili was a real hit. It was so good that we have barely a container full left (it is a cottage cheese container).

Jean congrats to your grandson! You have every right to be bursting your buttons!

I survived yesterday and have a pretty full day today ahead. I've got homework to do, which I will get to as soon as my hubby is off to work. Then Max and I have a walk planned at the university and go visit with some friends there. We also will be picking up some donations for the Walk MS. Then there is house cleaning and doggie bathing to do after that.

I went by the MS Society office yesterday and got to see the t-shirts with my design. They even put my name under the picture as a signature! *beam* I'm so excited! I picked up the official doggie t-shirt for Max. I also went and got the last of the t-shirts I needed to make for the team t-shirts.

Well, I need to grab some breakfast. I hope everyone has a great day today!

This grandma is busting her buttons once again for our grandson Aaron. He won the Gold at the SEC diving championship yesterday. DH and I will travel to Ohio the end of March to watch him compete in the NCAA finals. He has worked hard to reach for this level of performance, and we love watching him.

Good morning. Last night DH freaked out. He is the kind that worries about everything and always expects the worse. Freyja was missing. I said I was pretty sure she had gotten out and we would find her under the house or bike barn. DH was sure something had happened to her. I went for my walk and when I opened the door when I got home I was greeted by a terrible smell. 3 members of DH family have passed in recent years and we have gotten their pans. We have a pan closet for all the pans we don't use. DH had opened that closet to see if somehow Freyja had gotten in there. Something died in there. DH was sure it was Freyja. He went to take the trash out, so he would have an empty trash can and Freyja came running from under the house. There was a dead mouse in the back of the closet. The mouse is gone and DH will clean the closet good while I'm at work. I'm allergic to the disinfectant. Freyja's fine and non the worse for her adventure.

Suzan, if you think you want meat, get crumbles. I use the ones made by morning star. They are a meatless ground meat. In things like chili, that have lot of spice, you can't taste the meat and crumbles will give the texture you are looking for. FYI, the frist chili cook offs you where disqualified if you used meat. Chili is vegatarian. Chili con Carie (sp) has meat.

Good morning and blessed Ash Wednesday (for my Texas buddies who do commemorate Lent). I'm just here long enough to say hi before having to head out for my next class, Ash Wednesday services, and then off to run errands. Hope everyone is doing well. Made it 2.31 miles yesterday walking Max. Not going to be able to do the Max walk today...too many other things going on, but he will be active anyway I'm sure. Tonight, since today for me is a day of fasting and abstinence, will be a nice 3 bean chili that I am making. (Fasting throughout the day and then a meatless meal for dinner.) I'm hoping I love it as much as I love my chili with meat! *beam* Well, I have to run get to class so I will talk to you all later!
