GREAT question ! ! ! I wanted to start a topic Based on the holidays and the stress /temtations/ and time restraints that it brings !! !! But I want it to be ALL inclusive , so that PPl can share a stumbling block , just as easy as a recipe ... May be it sould be more than one "sticky" ! What would y'all like to see ??

As far as a "plan" I want to make sure I am SUPER DEDICATED ( makes you woder why dedicated isnt enough..Haha !! ) to the workout part and make sure tht I ENJOY mysekf , in MODERATION .
emoticon Here is your Blue Ribon for being such a good cook ! ! ! ! Hahaha!!!!
My issue is that I LOVE to cook AND have GOOD COOKS as neighbors ! ! ! ! So , Im up a creek !! !!! emoticon
WE CAN DO IT !! !! !!

Good morning and God bless. Hope you are having a super weekend so far. So far so good. I went straight from the bed to the computer. Hard to mess that up. emoticon

At one point I'm going to be visiting my daughter and making turkey and dressing. It is going to be HARD to not dive into the dressing. It is familiar, comforting and just taste darn good. Blasted, that's what I get for being a good cook. emoticon Seriously though it is one of those foods that washes me in memories good and bad of holidays past. A reminder of the holidays yet ahead. Am I ready to face them mountain of temptations and emotions coming my way.

Do ya'll have a plan in place?

The bad news: (Almost) all men are crazy, and want that one thing.
The good news: Some are less crazy than others. But they still want that one thing. (see: my recent rantin' and ravin' blog post) emoticon
I guess they can't help it....it's the way they're made.

I met my husband at work. 16 years now. WooHoo!
And what is there really to say? You know that saying about kissing alot of frogs? It's all true. There are good men. Just have to sift through all the surplus to find 'em. I understand your frustration!
Good luck...keep lookin' and don't settle! emoticon

Hi ladies,

I'm new around here, and I would like to run something by y'all. It seems like many of you are either married, or in long term relationships. I'm more of what you would call a serial dater, but not by choice.

One of the things I want most is to find the right guy and settle down. I'm an independent, fairly intelligent woman. I live alone and support myself 100%, and would love to have someone to care for. But it seems like all I attract are either A) crazy men, or B) men who only want one thing.

It's really quite strange the amount of effort they put into pursuing me, and then it turns out they weren't really interested in ME at all. ?????

I always used to think that I couldn't get a quality man b/c of my weight issues. But right now, I'm sitting right around a (fairly healthy) 155lbs. Not ideal, but not bad. So what am I doing wrong??

Can you ladies tell me how you snagged that special someone and held onto them? What did you do to let them know you were interested, without scaring them off?

Every day is another chance to turn it all around.

I was just burning lunch in the kitchen ( HAHAHAHAHAHA ! ! ! ! !- My family knows dinner is ready when the smoke alarms go off !!! HEHEHEE !!! ) emoticon and for the first time in months I was able to open windows without feeling like I was opening an oven door ! ! ! emoticon We have a hill in the back yard and I cant wait to start walking it AGAIN !! I have a LOVE/HATE relationhip with that hill !!!!! LOL emoticon
WOW!! BRACES ?! ! I need to BRACE myself for that !!!!! The child in our family that needs braces is still too young for them ( according to our dentist ) but I think we are hadded there ! We have GREAT insurace .... But I think braces are concidered cosmetic ??? I HOPE NOT !!!

I am getting vaneers ( I grew up in Mexico and ate limes like ppl eat apples , which ruined the enamel on my teeth ; now they chip off - so it isnt JUST a cosmetic thing ) , hopefully this yr or the beginning of 2012 as a part of my "BELATED -Turning 30 makeover " , YES , loosing 100 lbs is part of that as well ! But for some reason getting my teeth covered with plastic sounds easer!!! HAHAHAHAHAHAHA ! ! ! !!.....Well..That was TMI and a long answer to :YES ! the weather IS cooler ! ! ! ! ! emoticon

I hope the braces appointment goes equally smooth. My little girl was thrilled to get hers on, but this joy was followed by six weeks of sneaking crunchy food and not cleaning properly. Her orthodontist was very firm with her about these problems, I suspect it's pretty common.

Fall is really here. The fair parade was in Amarillo yesterday, and the temperatures are nowhere near triple digit.

Thanks !!! The last root canal I went to , they forgot to tell me how much I would have to pay AFTER INS. She waited until I was FULLY anesthetized.....I WALKED OUT ! emoticon
Wat else could I do f I couldent afford it ?! It was VERY frustrating ! ! ! That was the same day that I learned that 60% of the pain of a root canal comes from the deep injections from the pain killers !!!!
So , YES ! No drama ! ! !
BTW ,It s not 60 degees today ......This is not a " sit outside and breathe " Day ! ! ! ! ! ! HAHAHAHAH !!!!!!

Root canal...yikes. Hope it all goes smoothly :-) As for jumping jacks while tom is visiting...yuck. Tom is currently visiting and I find it so uncomfortable to do anything high impact. I feel too bloated and heavy.

Good luck with root canal. I am just starting to get back to tracking my food. I had surgery almost a month ago and can't exercise for a couple of more weeks.. I have gained over 20 lbs after I stopped logging my food. I plan to regain momentum. This team seems pretty active.

At least alfalfa smells good! Sorry about the root canal though. We have homeschool pe today and Wed. Tomorrow I go talk about the results of the mri on my knee. Looks like I tore the miniscus on the inside and will need to go to an ortho and probably have surgery. (ARGH! There goes exercise.) Then I've also got to take my middle boy to the orthodontist. So it's going to be a long week of running around. Maybe I'd better start wearing my pedometer again and count steps instead of exercise minutes. Just thought of that, now lets see if I can find it.

Frustrated.

Those who need more take more. I also make sure there are a couple of veggie options like salad and grilled veggies or green beans as well as a starch (potato or grain). Because I usually need less I make skip the starch and just have meat and veggies, or skip the meat, it just depends on my day. As far as when I'm cooking, I always have either a glass of water, unsweetened ice tea, or hot tea (winter) to sip on while I'm cooking to prevent too much nibbling along the way. I'm not sure if this is what you're looking for or not.

Thanks. I hope all works out well too. This all happened in Feb, and I'm still with him. However, all these negative emotions and stress is affecting my weight loss efforts. I am a horrible stress eater, and I have gained about 15lbs since March!!

How do you all deal with stress and emotion driven eating?

Well, I've tried to get my SO to join Sparkpeople. I even went as far as to make him an account. That was last year, and I don't think he's ever gotten on it. As far as social networking sites, he has his friends list hidden, so I don't know how many chicks he has friended on Facebook. Considering how we met (through emails while he was living with his ex and THEIR child that he lied to be about for the entirety of our 6 year relationship) this makes me very, very uneasy. He never tells me when he friends anyone, and while his profile does say married, my profile isn't linked to it. emoticon . The only guy friend I have on Facebook is a close friend from high school who is gay.

He apparently has a lot to hide though. After an argument (started by the sheriff knocking on our door while I was studying for college finals, trying to serve my SO child support papers for 2 children, one conceived during the time we were exchanging emails), I decided to check his facebook app on his phone, and found messages to one of his high school buddies' older sister, telling her he was getting a divorce, something about how he hates cheaters and liars, that all he does is work and he comes home and everything is f***ed up, and asking her if she wanted to go out, have a drink and talk. Needless to say, I am none too excited by any of this.

As far as jumping jacks and periods... My pelvic floor muscles aren't what they used to be, having given birth to 2 full term babies in less than 18 months (which might explain the hidden friend list and messages to other women emoticon ) So I have to wear a panty liner when doing any type of jumping exercise, regardless of whose visiting. My periods are light due to my birth control, so I only have to wear a liner on the 2 or 3 days I have it. I don't have to change my protection down there, or rework my workout routine any.

Peace, Rachel

Jumping jacks and Tom: I have no idea what to say about that...I don't jumping jack because of my knees. But if I did, I probably wouldn't while Tom (or Aunt Flo either) was visiting, because that could just be a disaster.

Men: It hasn't really come up. Don't dudes have their own teams? LOL!! I maybe wouldn't "friend" one, because, as you say, I don't think I would love it if my dude were chatting up a bunch of chics. emoticon

My husband and I are both on Spark. I have very few male friends and I let my husband know when I do add them. I do not have private messages or conversations with my male friends but I do give and get positive feedback. My husband has woman as his friends, they were my friends first. emoticon

As for the jumping jack question it doesn't cause me any trouble. I do not do anything different.

I have mixed feelings on this. Most of my friends are guys and the person that I joined SP with was my husbands best friend who is a major support in me losing weight because he is going down the same path I am. We keep track of each other and help each other out with different food ideas and work out plans. My husband does not have the weight to lose, and has not had to struggle with it so he does not understand what it is like. I love him more then words can describe and would do anything for him. With that being said I dont know if I would be able to add men I dont know to my page and feelings and thoughts. Its a self image thing I think. Hmmm food for thought thats for sure. :)
