I stayed up until midnight but napped earlier in the day. We also celebrated New Year's Day with black eyed peas and cabbage.

No. We put the kids to bed at 8:30 as usual, and then I went to bed at 10:30 because I was wiped out (hubby stayed up watching TV but not NYE programming). I was woken up at midnight, though, because someone in the neighborhood decided they wanted to set off fireworks - no clue who, but it sounded like it was maybe 2 doors down or so. Thankfully, the noise was drowned out by the earplugs I put in, because hubby said they were setting them off for at least 30 minutes.

No, not this year!

We had driven home from Rockport, and were exhausted...in bed by 10PM!

I did see the ball drop this year on tv for the first time in years. Thought I would be asleep but ended up awake. It's not really much of a deal to me anymore but by chance I did see it.

QUOTE: “Each day that we live, we’re taking in new information, ideas, concepts, experiences, and sensations. We need to consciously stand guard at the doors of our minds to make sure that whatever we’re allowing to enter will cause our lives to be enriched, that the experiences we pursue will add to our stockpile of possibility.” ~ Anthony Robbins, Awaken the Giant Within

QUESTION: Did you...see the ball drop/stay up until midnight or later on New Year’s Eve?

I did not. I dozed in a chair until right before midnight and then I got up and went to bed. My DH came in a few minutes later at midnight and kissed me.

I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend and a great New Year’s Eve/New Year’s day. We celebrated our New Year’s day with ham, black eyed peas and cabbage. That is definitely one tradition from my Mom that I could not let slide by without doing it. Yesterday we had parent teacher conferences (they referred to it as “speed dating format”) and we liked it much better than an “open house”. It is easier to talk to the teachers. We honestly couldn’t remember who all sent us a request, so we just tried to see everyone. A lot of the information we heard was what we expected, but we did get some information we did not expect. Things have slipped through the cracks, I think last year with everything we were handling, but we are now aware and will be on the lookout for things to change/be different. This weekend did not seem to go as planned, but I’m just going to roll with it. I have some food that I prepared last week like the chicken that we can use tonight and hamburger meat/bison that needs to be cooked, so we’ll use those for dinner the next night or two and I’ll make a trip to the grocery store for meat/fruits and veggies for the rest of the week. We have postponed our trip to Costco, but on a positive note, it gives me more time to look up batch cooking/freezing cooking ideas so that I can make more than one meal at a time. I am determined to make this work. It will take me some time, I’m sure, but I am a woman determined. This will also give me time to de-clutter the house and get things in order. DH and I talked and decided that now that we have room, we are going to bring the elliptical that I still have at Mom’s back here. Not sure when that will happen yet, but soon I hope. It will enable me to get a bit of a workout in. I can’t just look at it and not use it, especially if it’s in the living room. I better get moving! Happy Tuesday!

Take Care and God bless,

Tracey W.
