Yes. I use to hitchhike during my college day in the early 70s.

No. I only picked up hitch hikers once too because I usually don't as a woman usually traveling alone. But this one time I was up in the mountains in winter where I had just come from a woman's retreat there. I don't know what made me stop because I didn't want to. Two men, two women, and a girl. It was so strange that it seemed beyond me to stop. I was sure all the way down the mountain they were going to pull a gun on me. But the kept saying I was their angel and kept them from freezing to death. I only saw one other car on that road. They had recently moved here from another country and didn't know the roads. Their car broke down. I dropped them off at their apartment and never saw them again. The only thing I can think of is that God had me save them even though I was scared to death. Still won't pick up hitchhiker sunless God takes over again lol.

Yes. In France 1988. My friend and I naively thought if we took the train to the nearest train station to the beach at St. Tropez we could walk to the beach. Not so much! A man from Switzerland was killing time and offered to get us to the beach by way of hitchhiking. We just rolled with it. (Repeat: naive.) It was so funny because the only English he knew was "I love you." So we heard "I love you" a hundred times that afternoon. Anyway we road to the St. Tropez in the back of a farmer's pickup truck; it was at least 20-30 minutes. We hitchhiked back to the train station. What a memory!

QUESTION: Have you ever…hitchhiked?

No, I have not.

Overall it was a good weekend. Date night was fun. While we really didn’t do anything besides have dinner, just getting away just us was fun. I got to have my steak, baked potato, salad and all. I tracked everything. Although I was feeling a little lost Saturday while I was home alone and I wound up going a bit overboard with the food. I tracked it, I’m moving on. I wanted to make sure that I didn’t lose my tracking streak. Foodwise, Sunday wasn’t too bad. I got caught up watching the Gillmore Girls on Saturday. I haven’t made it through season 1 yet, but my cousin mentioned that the relationship between Lorelai and Rory reminded her of my Mom and I and the relationship that we had. After watching the part of Season 1 that I finished yesterday, I do understand why she would say that. I watched for awhile and cried for awhile. I think I just needed that time to grieve. The church service on Sunday was good as well. I feel like I’ve missed more than I would like this year. After church, we came home and enjoyed some time together. I wrote out some recipes from one of the books I checked out from the library. I still have a few more to write out, but my hand and back got tired, so I decided to stop for the day.

Take Care and God bless,

Tracey W.
