Can't promise Christine but I'll try.

The weather here is awful. As we say here, like a greetin' wean, (small child), wet and windy.

I'll try to do some, I have trouble with getting freggies in though. Later I'll do the squats.

What is the weather in Scotland? Kind of on the rainy side here in Florida. I didn't go out so had a day to stay home, come to think of it, I didn't go out yesterday either!

We have 3 challenges on the go just now -
- A Tour of Scotland's Castles
- A to Z of Giving Thanks
- Advent Countdown of daily mini challenges.

Please feel free to join in, either from where we are, or go back and catch up some of the days. It's very lonely on my own :(

The weather has actually been quite reasonable for the last week or so. Drier than it has been all summer. Almost forgot what the sun looked like!

It's not very pleasant having a fall whether someone sees or not. I hope you didn't hurt yourself too much. And a broken fingernail, what can I say! How awful! LOL

Hi, hope you are all having a good week. DH and I went out for our 24th anniversary. Did nothing special but being together shopping and ate out. I did fall and scraped my elbow and knee. Looked around and luckily no one was looking. Whew! emoticon and..... I broke a fingernail. That was my day.

How's the weather in Scotland?

Thanks Sally - the wedding's on Friday. Younger son came down from Aberdeen today, so there's been a load of chat!
Hopefully we'll get a dry spell for the ceremony - it's in Chatelherault Park, near Hamilton.

Getting excited!

Every one must be out enjoying the summer somewhere.

It's been very wet and miserable here today. I hope your son's wedding has not been blighted by the weather Christine and if it's not happened yet that it goes really well.

Hi Court - thank you for asking.

I was having a better week of it last week, till the past couple of days.
I had to go out yesterday, despite not really feeling up to it.
Today i have coughed and sneezed, ached, shivered and sweated.

Heading for bed very soon - hopefully i'll get to bible study/pdiscussion tomorrow afternoon (probably miss the services in the morning).

I have hubby at home just now - has been for about 3 weeks. His Mum hasn't had any more appointments for just now. So they'll probably all start up again in a few weeks.

Looking forward to older son's wedding at the end of August - a good chance to catch up with family as well as seeing the happy couple spliced :)

OOooo, that soft mallow with a raspberry jam center and covered in chocolate sounds really good. You're right, not good for diets.

I don't actually know if there is a site but I would suggest trying the SWRI. They are the women's institute and if they have a web site that would be your best chance. I don't think there are any specific Scottish biscuits, as we call them, recipes. Fruit cakes are often used but again none that I know of especially except black bun. That is a really heavy fruit loaf encased in thin pastry. Traditional at New Year with the shortbread.

We buy lots of Tunnocks tea cakes and caramel wafers. Soft mallow with a raspberry jam centre and covered in chocolate! Actually not too fattening either. Caramel wafers are just what they sound like but you can get them covered in chocolate too. Not good for dieting.

Good luck with the search. Hope the wrist improves soon.

I'm surprised you have to use the exercise ball. i had mine in plaster as my doctor said it was caused by too much writing! It was coming up to exam time so it definitely seemed possible! Anyway, do your exercises and hopefully you'll be back to normal soon.

It'll be easier to tell if there is a crack once the swelling goes down. I hope it gets better soon as it's not very nice having something that's painful all the time.

i've gotten tendonitis quite a few times, from computer work at the office and when i had my mom. had to help raise her out of bed every morning and she weighed about 200 pounds.

i'm going to ask doctor about the swelling hiding a crack. i heard that happens. tendonitis is painful but this was beyond pain i've had with tendonitis before. i was having some other pain that is consistent with tendonitis so i'm wearing my brace a doctor gave me when i had tend. before.
i got fb just to see how much mail, but did little on there. i rarely get on.

Ooooh painful. I had tendonitis when I was a teenager. Too much writing for my O levels apparently. It was in plaster for weeks so that I couldn't use it. Luckily I can write with either hand but definitely not so quickly. In those days we had to write everything down. No computers, mobiles or calculators permitted. LOL. I don't do FB so I didn't see any notes, sorry.

I hope your haircut is nice!

Hi Court, nice to see you back again. I don't know if Betty Crocker bakes are available here or not. I don't often use mixes. If I make them I eat them! So I try to avoid buying them in the first place. You're weather sounds extremely hot. We had to put our heating on again last night as we were so cold. Almost freezing overnight. Hopefully it will warm up towards the end of the week. Send some of your hot weather this way!

Hi, been a little AWOL, sorry. It felt like in the 90s, but checking weather channel it says 88.
Very sunny out. I wish we had a pool.

I'm debating making a cookie mix. I would have yesterday, but didn't have the butter. Maybe DH will help. It takes two different mixes, but all in the same box.

Betty Crocker Create n bake cookie mix. I dona't know that they have it in Scotland.

Hubby is away back to Crail to spend the week with his Mum. There are a couple of appointments this week - household, not health. But he is hoping to be home again at the weekend.
So i have more flexibility, and have already started back with my 3-room sort out that got put on hold when he came home a couple of weeks ago!

Has everyone had a look at the 3 daily challenges in the Fitness and Fun forum?

I thought i'd post these, and leave the tour of Scotland until i have more consistent energy. Or 1 January. Whichever is sooner emoticon

Michele, how's things going?
I didn't do the clean eating project.

This has been a busy week. Thursday, I went with a friend to West. Palm Bch to pick up another friend from the airport. Her plane came in late and we got home around 10:00. We left around 4:30. Long day.

Today I had my lifegroup and tomorrow, DH is taking me out tomorrow to eat. Yay!

Thanks Sally. I just don't know much at all about the royals and how it works. *abdicate*, that was the word I didn't think of. She can't just retire I guess. haha

There was a program on tv on the life of Queen Elizabeth. She was only around 25 when she became queen! So young. They televised her, I think birthday celebration. So interesting to watch.

Our President serves 2 years then we vote again and he can be in another 2 years, but that is it.

Well, I have to google a recipe for clean eating for meat and one for meatless. I'm not making either, but need to post a recipe. If I like it, it may be something I'll consider. I'm so picky.

Whoa, that's a real mixed bag and not easy to answer in a post.

As far as the independence thing goes the referendum held last September had a really high turnout, 85% average, and the vote then was 54% No to I think 48 or 49% Yes, so its fifty fifty as far as the general population goes. This election was not about independence so a lot of people who voted No will have supported the SNP in the General Election but do not want to go the full independence route. I personally think to go independent there should be a big majority in favour of yes otherwise there would be an awful lot arguing and fighting about the result. It would have to be really clear cut for me to feel happy about it. As far as being able to be independent I think Scotland would manage fine but there's a long history of connection to the rest of the UK to just shut it all off.

If he lives long enough then I think Charles will be King. His grandmother lived to 102 or 103 so he could have a while to wait yet and Queen Elizabeth looks quite hail and hearty at present even if she is 88. She has said she will not abdicate and I think as long as she is fit and able to continue she will. I believe the royal protocol is she has to abdicate or else die for Charles to succeed and William can't become King while his father is alive so he and baby George will have to wait. As for Charles' popularity, the royals seem very popular generally and I think it is generally accepted now that Charles is heir to the throne. Again, personally, I don't like the amount of money that is spent on maintaining the royal household and I don't like all the rest of the hangers on that are attached to the royal family. I don't mind them being there I just object to the millions of pounds that are paid to them so they can live as they do. They're probably very pleasant people but why should I have to subsidise their lifestyle.

Likely a bit more than you expected Court but I'm getting old and cranky. LOL.

Wow, do you think it would have been better if Scotland had won it's independence? Or would that make a diff?

I'm bad when it comes to politics. I wait till last min to research our Presidential candidates. That won't be until next year.

Do you think Charles will ever be King or just skip on to William? I always wondered if Queen Elizabeth thought Charles not the best to rule and that is why she stays in office, maybe he doesn't want to. But, I don't know all about the royal affairs and protocol. What is the UK opinion on Charles as future king.

Well they do that here too, and some other terms of endearment but none that are specifically Scottish that I know of and some that aren't repeatable either! LOL

The election here was totally different to the rest of the UK. The SNP wiped the board getting 56 of 59 MPs and threw out all the Labour and Liberal MPs bar one from each. The Conservatives kept their MP and won the election in Britain and so form the next Government. Conservatives or Tories for short are similar politically to your Republicans and Labour/ Lib-Dem are similar to the Democrats. SNP are Scottish Nationalists but with a left wing political view point so England and the rest of the UK want to go to the right and Scotland wants to go more to the left. I think, lol.

How did the election go?

Funny how cultures differ. Here women call their husband's honey, sweetie, in English of course. I just figured they did that in all countries.

Stayed up all night watching the General Election results coming in. Going to bed early tonight!

There are flags on the start page to click onto to get daily points Court.

We've been putting them up further down the page.

I had a think about a particularly Scottish name for your SO. It's not used regularly that I know of but the only thing which came to mind was the Robert Burns song, about John Anderson, my jo. I think jo was a term of endearment but I'm not sure.

HI, I was doing some walking and posting. Haven't been doing a lot lately. I should post what I have done lately. Sorry.

When I click on the various teams I never know how many points they'll give to that team. I want the most to Scotland, but can't tell how they do it. I don't always remember either. My bad.

We shall keep trying Janet.

The weather here today has been lovely on the whole. It clouded over for a little while but really a nice day for our General Election. Maybe the TV will have something other than politics on after today!

Hope your weather is good too. Have a good day.

Every time I think I have Spark figured out, something changes! emoticon I HAD noticed "[Spark member name] likes something on your activity feed," and I never figured out until a few days ago where it showed up! I will have to keep that in mind. It can be rather overwhelming being on Spark and trying to maximize one's points. Sometimes I want to just quit everything but the food tracking, but I am still somewhat lured by the hope of big points. They only get you Spark goodies, but if I told myself they would be worth something real to me, as in money toward new clothes, I might be more likely to try to amass more. The team points are still woefully difficult to get, but I DID manage a 50 the other day, followed by 2 the next day. I want to try to keep up better with all of you, so perhaps with Christine back our team will liven up a bit. I have only pretty much recorded my team points from my daily spin. Weren't we walking around Scotland awhile ago?

I hope all of you are enjoying a lovely spring and are healthy enough to be out in the good weather! emoticon

Thanks. I just wondered if there was some Scottish word I could call him. I didn't think about the culture thing tha men don't like those kind of words. On the Irish team someone gave me stór, but I don't know how to pronounce it. DH's grandmother came from Ireland. I just thought I'd check for any Scottish words. I would only call him that at home, no one else around.

It is very interesting to learn about the difference in cultures from other countries. There one country where it is suppose to be an insult if you do the thumbs up, but I don't remember where or who told me that.

How's the weather in Ireland?

Thanks, Court.
I'll take baby steps, and try to stay with it!

Nothing much springs to mind - Scottish "working class" man would die of embarrassment!
"Pet", "Sweetheart", maybe even "Sweetie".
"Dearie" would normally be addressed only to women and children.
I checked the Scottish Dialect Dictionary that I inherited from my Mum - but fir it, you really need the Scottish words to start with, and it gives you meaning and sometimes suggests alternatives.

Thanks Christine. How's things going your way? Glad your'e back.

A bit rainy off and on here in my part of Florida and some kind of depression out in the ocean. Hurricane season starts next month, but no one can tell a hurricane when to form. Hopefully just nothing at all. Sept. is our peak season.

I need to find a Scottish word to call my DH. Something like honey or sweetie, but in Scottish.
Any ideas?
