This week was meat from the farmers market. Ground pork, sausage and ribs for the freezer. Still some nice heirloom tomatoes around too. One of the local farmers has organized an indoor farmers market in the green house at the local Agway. We will be able to get local meats and greenhouse grown produce all winter....Even though we live in New England. There will be coffee and crafts and homemade lunches too. A fun way to chat with neighbors on a Saturday morning. Does anyone else have an indoor farmers market in the winter?

A whole tree full of apples, wow--a true windfall!

Today I picked the first two bell peppers from my garden. A couple more zucchini are coming along, and FINALLY, a pattypan squash that looks like a survivor. This hot, dry weather suits them.

scallions, peppers, cucumbers, cherry tomatoes, corn, peaches, apples. I just got a whole heirloom variety organic apple tree full of apples!!! It is on a barren, piece of land that just grows every year by itself and the owner is letting me harvest the whole tree!!!

Week-old chicks! My hen is a loving, attentive mother to her three adopted babies, and they adore her--so sweet to watch them together. At the feed store where I got the chicks, I also picked up farm-fresh yellow, pink and red tomatoes, okra, and white pattypan squash.

emoticon

PS, sorry to hear about the weasel getting some chickens. Almost everyone I know around here has lost one or more to snakes, possums, raccoon, hawks or dogs.

TESLASILK Check with your State extension service. There may be a season on them. I have fence to put part way under my run and top. For raccoons and skunks, which will rise havoc also.

Fish, celery, lettuce, chard, homemade pickles, peaches, apricots, plums came from the farmers market. We also ate locally raised sausage and corn left over from last weeks shopping. Tomatoes came from a plant on our front porch. Eggs came from chickens, which are bizarrely housed in our basement because a weasel got into their coop and killed some and I can't quite figure out how fix it so he can't come back. Any ideas?

Missed Farmers market last week camping.
We (husband, dog[rocky] and I) went to a mountain river to camp for 2 days, then to the ocean but the wind was too cold so we camped just in land, for 3 days.
I Saw where the farmers market would be but not there that day. I have an eye for that we passed two.

so cool to be able to give to your food pantry. They'll be able to do so much with it if they are making a group dish or just to give out to the needy. I love bok choy. one of my fav. veggies.

Because of all the rain/floods, some of our tomato plants (all are in containers of some kind to "catch" the sun) are through for the season. The hanging ones seem to be going strong. Ought I to do that with all of them next year? We'll see emoticon emoticon

Duck eggs are good! Thanks for the heads up about broccoli leaves. Have used pea leaves in salads, too. We have peas, cherry tomatoes (the yellow and orange ones being the sweetest), and arugula at this point.
