I buy cheap pinwheels at the dollar store and 'plant' them in my garden.

Another suggestion, taken from my camping days - penny cans. Place some pennies in soda cans and tape the cans shut. Tie the cans to string around the garden.

You could also try tying mylar strips to the plants themselves, but isn't mylar forever?

Finally, some garden and feed stores sell urine (fox urine, bobcat urine?) but I've heard that human pee works just as well to keep animals away. Mark your territory. If you have boy children they will cheerfully do this for you.

we had big gray country squirrels ... tried repellents (organic ones), chicken wire (they got in anyway), even had to shoot one (yes, i know...) who was soooo aggressive he was up on our picnic table with my 2 year old sitting there -

solution? got some outdoor cats, & we keep 'em hungry...

Have you tried that plastic small-gauge "deer mesh"? I used that for years over my entire garden and never lost a single fruit or veggie to pests. I bought mine in the garden section of home depot and then just fastened it with metal clips into the ground.

Good luck!

Does anyone have any advice for how to keep the chipmunks out of my cherry tomatoes? I tried building cages around the plants but the darn chippies still got through. They have gotten more selective as the season as gone on. They used to steal my green tomatoes but now they wait until they are almost ripe and take those :(
