SLDJUST4ME Try this. It's the help I got from someone else on this team.

1. Roll your mouse over My Trackers in the top left corner of the screen.
2. Click on My Fitness".
3. Youï'll now see your Fitness Tracker page.
4. Scroll to the bottom of your Fitness Tracker page and click on "Connect Devices/Apps", which is located under Tools & Settings.
5. Click the Reauthorize button listed next to Fitbit.
6. Fill in the login information for your device/app.
7. Click the button to login/sign in.
8. Be sure to accept/allow the permissions we need to get your data from Fitbit. You can just accept them all; but, if you don't want to do that, be sure at a minimum to accept any for account profile, settings, device, activity.
9. Your device/app should now start syncing automatically.

My fitbit info hasn't updated on sparkpeople since 8/28. It's synching with other apps so I'm at a loss as to what the issue could be. I also requested a sync in hopes that it will fix it.

SparkPeople hasn't synced by actual Fitbit Steps in days. It synced steps on Sep 7-8, 2017. It didn't sync all my steps on those days either. On 9/7 it synced 3,508; On 9/8 it synced 99 steps. Syncing of everything else is hit/miss as well...

So far, SP says I've only walked 3,607 steps for the month of September.
So far, FB says I've walked 116,206 steps for the month of September.

That's a huge difference. :/ Anyway to manually sync, hoping they all show up that way.

Not sure, but since the last fitbit update my tracker isn't tracking all my steps. It has 769 steps for today and I mowed the lawn, walked to our mail box (at least 300 steps one way). So I'm not sure what's going on now!

My fit bit steps aren't syncing with SP either. It hasn't for the past 3 days. Any suggestions? I've totally logged out and back into to both accounts. Reauthorized the sync. Nothing still. Any advice? Am I doing something wrong?

I'm confused. Can someone help me?

Should I be loggin exercise on my fitbit or spark people?

For example, if I did 45 min of kettlecise this morning, I log this on spark people it estimates 900 calorie burn - but this doesnt seem to show in my fit bit stats?

Or do I log it in my fit bit under kettles which shows 450 calories burn - and will this sync to spark people?

Thanks in advance if anyone can clear this up:)

Here’s what I do: I just import the Fitbit info to SparkPeople, and then go by the calories/food in SP. SP will get all the activity stuff from Fitbit so I still don’t have to enter any activity, which is fantastic. My food actually does show up in Fitbit, but something weird happens, which is that when I delete stuff on SP, it does not delete out of Fitbit, which means that some days I have that I consumed 4000 calories when I definitely did not!

Fitbit says that they “know” your gait based on your height. Here’s how to change it: https://help.fitbit.com/customer/portal/ar

I've got my new FitBit, I've linked it with SP but the food I enter in SP does not show up in FB. Very frustrating. I'm thinking of taking back FB and going back to my simple pedometer. I could be out walking but instead I'm sitting at a computer trying to get the thing to sync. I've tried disconnecting and relinking. I understand FB syncs activity to SP but not the other way around. I understand SP syncs food to FB but not the other way around. But nothing is syncing. With my pedometer I have to figure out my gait, how does FB know what my gait is. Very frustrating.

Chaquita - thanks for your reply below. Although not to me, I did a search for my question on the site and you have answered it perfectly. I just bought my FB Flex today and am already in LOVE! I was confused as to why when I entered my nutrition info into FB, it didn't automatically come over to SP just like my Activity.

Thanks again!

To fix steps not syncing from FB to SP, in SP: unlink from FB and relink. That fixed it for me.

Food entered into SP syncs automatically to FB but doesn't go the other way.

The opposite is true for fitness, steps/activity in FB syncs automatically to SP but doesn't go the other way.

The sync between FB and SP isn't really a sync...I think of it as a push. Food data pushes from SP to FB and activity data pushes from FB to SP.

Hope this helps!

I am new (today) to fitbit. It was super easy to sync with the fitness tracker, but I don't see anywhere to sync to the nutrition tracker. I logged my meals in to the fitbit, but it did not communicate the data to SP, but my fitness stuff did. Is that how it works? I have to log my food at SP?
Thanks in advance for any explanations/help.

@LILY_SPARK--I linked SP and FB the first day it was possible. Everything worked beautifully for a few weeks until mid-Nov, I think, when both sites said they were connected, but they were not sync'g.

I unlinked/relinked them from the SP site and the only glitch I've noticed is right before Christmas my steps were not sync'g correctly to SP (about 90% of my FB steps showed up in SP each day). I did nothing about it (other than manually force a sync from FB to SP for steps) and it seems to have corrected itself.

For the last month or so, all has been functioning correctly. I suspect since they are two independently maintained websites, as they each do system updates/upgrades there will be glitches.

Good luck!

aha!

My fitbit *was* connected to SP, then it disconnected itself and I tried many times (this is a while back, maybe couple of months?). I contacted F and they were no help.

I tried again today...guess what? Went through fine. We'll see it is sticks!

I have a feeling it won't. It got un-stuck to MFP, too, and a friend says hers does every now and then.

The "little black plastic thing" allows you to slip the FitBit Ultra (I'm assuming that's what you got, but maybe the other FitBit types have that as well?) into, and holds it if you are wearing thicker clothing. Otherwise you risk splitting the FB open.. Some claim it made FB more secure, but I tried it last night on my arm band and my FB slipped out of the little black plastic (holder) thing. Had to bring my phone back to full brightness and use it like a flash light to find my FB lost under the covers!!!

@CHAQUITA73 I don't know about the charge. Haven't done it yet. Figure I will do it tonight. Right now, I am doing both the pedometer and the FitBit lol.

It is correct that when you track your food on SP, it automatically shows up on FB. Sweet! emoticon

I think that the FB activity time syncs to SP to get your total calorie burn per SP higher (more accurate with your actual activity level)...not to really show exercise time.

But, I feel that between the data per FB and data per SP, I'm figuring out on my own what my calorie range needs to be and I am disregarding the warning message on the fitness page that I'm not eating enough.

@ LASARRE-do you have an Ultra FB? If so, the plastic thing is for holding the FB if you are trying to wear it on something thick like a belt so the FB doesn't crack from being over extended. Doesn't it seem like it takes FOREVER to do the first charge!!! :-)

I think we decided below that the best way to circumvent this (until the SP linking gives you more options) is just to let it count the steps, and then delete the "FitBit entry" for exercise and log your other exercise as normal.

It's counting my steps that are fairly active and very active as exercise minutes. Earlier yesterday, I was out running errands and doing a lot of fast walking, which SP counted as exercise. Great that they want to count that towards exercise, but for me, walking fast and doing errands is "normal" so I don't want it counted as exercise. If my normal moving about was truly exercise, then I wouldn't need to lose weight.

The other reason I don't want to fairly active portion counted as exercise is that now my fitness tracker is saying I need to adjust my nutrition counter as it's saying that I'm burning too many calories through exercise. But I know that if I do that, it will give me a higher calorie range and based on past experience, that higher calorie range with my current activity level and exercise would not allow me to lose any weight.

I thought that SP would take whatever time I had the counter running as my exercise minutes.

Hmmm, I was just looking again and realized the amount of time that I was fairly active or very active equals 111 minutes. Problem with that is that I can be a fast walker sometimes and if I'm doing errands or something, I might walk fast for quite some time and my FB logs it as being fairly active. But I don't count that as exercise at all. But now SP is tracking it as such. Any suggestions, other than to slow down?

Hey all! I'm so excited too about SP and FB syncing up. But I noticed an issue tonight. After getting back from my walk, which I ran the timer on the FitBit for the time I was walking. Then I checked FB tracker online and to see that my steps for the day were correct. Then I went to SP and sync my fitness for today and it showed up as 110 minutes of fitness for today, but I only walked and ran the timer for 51 minutes. I went back to FB and checked the activity log and it shows only 51 minutes of activity that I then logged as walking. Went back to SP and re-synced my data and it changed my activity minutes to 111! Not sure where it's getting 111 activity minutes. That's close to 2 hours yet I only did 51 minutes of exercise.

Ok, I asked Sparkpeople Customer service about this and here is what they replied:

Thanks for linking your SparkPeople and Fitbit accounts! I'm sorry; but, there is no bulk import option available. You need to do the sync individually for each day you want. I know it's not the answer you were hoping for; but, at least you know. Have a good day! SparkPeople Support

It didn't take all that long to sync manually back to the first of the month. That's all I did. I'm just thankful they finally linked the 2.

Thanks for the info. Yes, it get's tiring to do a daily sync of previous. I wish it would upload them all!

Yes, it is a bike. My Yamaha Vstar 650. I love riding!

@NWCountryDancer-- I had to initiate the first sync manually (yesterday), but it seems to be automatic today. And, it is only sync'g the current day. I started manually sync'g the last week, day by day and stopped after a week. If you find a way to do one sync for all history, please share!!

PS-are you leaning on a bike in your pic??? I am a former Harley Chick. I sold my Softtail the week my first kid was born. My kids are my world, but I do miss my bike.

It's working now and I LOVEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE it! Haven't been on SP as much in the past month due to a change in our family routine but this syncing between the two sites has lured me back in for sure!!!!!!!

So I linked my accounts (got the 500 points! Woo! hoo!) but it seems for it to really update previous days, I have to go in Sparkpeople daily acitivity and update it day by day. Does anyone else have this issue or is there a simpler way and I am just missing it? I really don't want to have to go back to when I bought it almost a year ago and update...

I just bought my FitBit Ultra at the end of August. I had been looking at that and the BodyBugg all summer. Two weeks after I got the FB, the announcement came out about the new FBs. I was lucky enough with timing that I will be within the return window to take the Ultra back as soon as I get the One in a few weeks.

I am naked without my FB!! I really think it makes a difference with my activity level. I find myself walking to pick up lunch during the workday, parking in the back of parking lots...just to get to 10K steps. I don't make it every day, but I am working to get my daily average up this week better than last week.

So, it was $100 very well spent!!! :-)

Yep! I got the 500 points too - or maybe had them all along but wasn't looking in the right column!! It still says "connect" on the far right column, but in the next column to the left, it says "awarded 10/15/2012" or some such. So it worked even with the FitBit Ultra, contrary to what I was being advised by some others. (It's all kinda confusing.).

But.... now I'm contemplating buying one of the Zips for my husband. Blue or Black?? haha. He might be more willing to be on his SparkPeople account if the tracking was done automatically (or at least more automatically than it would if he had to hand-enter it.). He does have a birthday coming up next month.... hmmm (and it wouldn't matter about the sleep thing, because his CPAP machine already has a smartcard that registers those details...).

Not sure which app you are looking for in App Gallery - and whether you are using Android or iPhone?

I downloaded an app for iPhone from FitBit and it does a sort of toy sync with my FitBit, if I turn the BlueTooth on my iPhone . Don't worry that FitBit doesn't show up on the list of BT detected - evidently just having the BlueTooth turned on so it's detecting is enough. Then I open up the FitBit App and hit the little rounded 2 arrows sync symbol on the upper right hand corner of the app page (if it doesn't beat me to the punch and start syncing on it's own). It will show me details about the steps walked but doesn't seem to show the info on how much I slept the night before. That's evidently something that gets synced onto your PC when you put the FitBit on the dock for charging/syncing.

In other news....

Okay I finally see "the big announcement" from Spark Guy -
http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public
_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5100045

And we get 500 points (one time!) for connecting to FitBit.

I'd already done the connection earlier today, as did many of you. On Sparkguy's page, I just followed the link as if I was going to do it again. I had to log back into my SparkPeople account. Clicked on everything like I did earlier today, and doublechecked that I had my subscription set to yes, and I also clicked on the "challenge" (although that's a laugh, because already FitBit tells me I've been sitting on my arse some 9 hours + today, "sedentary" so that's a bit blunt. But true!!

Soooo - I have done all these steps, but .... when I do it again, and then refresh/recycle my SparkPoints page, it still says "connect" on the listing for the 500 points - usually those one-time-only deals will state "awarded mm/dd/yy" etc, and it's clear that the points have been awarded.

Not sure what's happening with that, unless the system for awarding FitBit points is overloaded? Or it's only awarding the 500 points for those who actually buy the FitBit Zip and not us suckers who bought earlier versions (Ultra etc.)? Yet....FitBit page is still allowing the connections to come through on SparkPeople and vice-versa.

Hmmm WHAT'D I DO WRONG??

And SparkPeople shows me as having some FitBit exercise minutes and points awarded for those minutes/calories burned. Hmmm

Puzzled....

Julia

I came home after the gym and noticed that it automatically updated the fitbit info. I linked it this morning and it showed activity, but didn't check it again until several hours later.

@OPALMOMMYFIRST-- yes, food logged in SP show up the same in FB with cal/fat/carb/etc showing up in FB too. I can see my FB steps on my SP fitness page.

I don't think the sync is automatic. There is a new button at the bottom of the nutrition page and top of the fitness page that says "sync fitbit". Once I pressed that, it synced for me.

I am so excited about this change. Does that mean if we log our food here that our calories will show up on FitBit info? Also, where will our steps show up...in the Steps section under fitness? I linked acounts and it said "Subscribed" but I am not seeing any relationship between the 2 sites yet...

I believe that it will. This is from SP when I linked my accounts:

Each time you upload data from your Fitbit device to your computer (manually or wirelessly), your SparkPeople account will automatically update. Your Fitbit fitness data will appear on your SparkPeople Fitness Tracker; your Fitbit Aria data will show up on your Weigh-In page.

I have been using three sites for support. I use the My Fitness Plan to track food ( I think it has a data base equal to Sparkpeople and it synchs with fit bit, I use the fitbit site to keep track of activity, and I use Sparkpeople for information and inspiration. I with one site could cover all three.

I too would LOVE to be able to sync my Fitbit with SparkPeople. I hope the developers of Spark are monitoring this thread. Not sure how to let them know otherwise. Would be a great merge especially since MyFitnessPal is already working together with Fitbit.

I got my regular fitbit over a year ago for Christmas and spend time on both sites. It would be great to be able to sync them especially with recipes with nutirion that the Sparks site offers. I belive that it would a triple win for each web application and the individual users. Lets encourage fitbit to sync / and maybe advertise on the Spark! emoticon

Great Idea Fitliterate!

I've only been tracking food at SP since the FB site's food library is woefully lacking!! I will have to do what you are doing so that I can get more graphs on my Dashboard to stare at!! And yes, I too wish the two sites could be linked!

I would love for them to integrate the sites, but until then -

I created a food on the fitbit site called "Sparkpeople" and it has 10 calories per serving. I track my food over here and just track calories from my food over there. So if I eat a meal with 280 calories I just add 28 servings of "Sparkpeople" to my fitbit food log.

I have a FitBit and would love to link it up to SparkPeople.
At the moment I have it linked up to LoseIt.com

I had the FitBit, 4 months in, it cracked on the inside of the loop. Not sure how I managed to do that. Luckily I got the $14 product protection plan at Best Buy. I took my FitBit in and walked out 10 minutes later with the FitBit Ultra.

I add my steps manually. It would be great to have the sites linked! I have had my fitbit a couple of years and love it. If you have any issues contact customer service/ support. In my experience they have been very helpful and even replaced my unit after a year.

I got it shortly after it came out. I think I've had it over a year. I think. It's working, but the joint at the top is loose. It wiggles a bit, which makes it fall off more. I actually lost mine from the very same thing - -fell off my waist band at the hair dresser - - and my husband gave me his. They were bought at the same time.

I think it lasted itself ok. I need to start wearing it on my bra, and I think it will fall off less.

I just started reading about the Jawbone Up. My fitbit is nearly dead, starting to break apart. I might switch to the Up. Looking online it:
1) records activity
2) records sleep
3) lets you record foods with a photo (like Meal Snap on iPhone - which is brillant)

I haven't seen the food log yet. The ability to track customer measures and WW points is important to me.

And it's missing the community zest I get from SP. That would be the final sell for me.

I've only done it one day, but it worked I logged on sparkpeople, then on fitbit I typed the date and meal (10-29 breakfast) then clicked add food, and then added the calories I ate that meal. I logged the steps on spark.

Hello all.

Since there is no link yet, how are you using the two sites?

Actually, I am using three as I am weaning myself away from WW. No time for all this!

Clearly fitbit is a champion when it comes to activity, and it is easy to manually import steps for the day into sparkpeople. I get my cardio time and distance travelled from my treadmill and input weights manually on sparkpeople.

Also clearly, sparkpeople is a winner when it comes to food logging. Don't know about your experiences, but I find the fitbit food logging wonky, visually jerky, and often missing featues such as delete, add to favories, and change portion.

So what do you do?

I would love to see this linked also. I have been trying different sites to see which one I like better...I like Fitbit site for the exercise...but I like all the info on Sparkpeople. I see the advertising for Fitbit and it would only make sense to combine them both since alot of people are here on Sparkpeople. I have been trying different sites because I am getting a new phone next month and with all the apps out there I want to see which one works best for logging everything.

None yet. I, too, have hopes that something will take place in the future given the heavy advertising that FitBit is making on the SparkPeople site. We will keep our eyes open and our ears to the ground.

Sorry if this has been asked so forgive the noob. Are there any update on linking FitBit with SparkPeople especially since it is being advertised on the banner so heavily? I just got mine but when I go to the FitBit site I found out that they are already linking the Withings Scale and the FitBit to the Lose It! site.
