Well, bummer. I forgot to put on my fb before I left the house this morning. That is the first time I forgot.I did go to water aerobics though so that will count for something.

Congratulations to all of you who have had such great numbers.

SWEDE_SU, from your description. I am sure your airport, ikea and dog walking added up to something. I think the main thing to look at is that sometimes people do gain steps, floors and false activity driving depending on the car and route. This is more likely the longer the drive. So I guess I would look on the graph on your fitbit dash during the time you were driving (if you know). You can see how much you were credited for, one graph is calories burned per five minutes and it includes colored spikes according to the activity level at that time. I would check that it is the gray sedentary level. There is also a steps graph and floors graph that shows when you were credited with steps and floors and you can see how many it credited you for. You can get rid of them on your fitness minutes, calorie burn, and daily graph by logging that time as driving or riding in a car using the option under transportation in the fitbit activity log. Sometimes logging driving increases calorie burn if it didn't actually credit you with extra activity though.

I did sign up for the EarnIt website but I'm too involved with websites and don't have to time to track everything. I just clip my fitbit on in the morning and during these winter months try to make at least 5000 steps a day. All the tracking can get a bit overwhelming.

What does the number for Fitbit entry mean? Is it exercises that you do not enter such as aerobics, heavy cleaning, etc.
I track my stretches/strength, but now am not adding them into exercises. Fitbit seems to be adding those and my miles/steps.

It seems to be working as far as activity goes. There are days that I was sitting in meetings or not feeling well. I didn't have a high number at all.

we are just back from a short trip in which two days were spent in the car. i wore the fitbit throughout the day, and i'm a bit uncertain about how "accurate" the fitness minutes are. yesterday we took a short walk with the dog before driving, then spent some time walking at the airport to meet my dad and brother, then walked at ikea, then drove home (5 hours) with one stop for gas during which i took the dogs for a quick walk, then home during which i walked up and down stairs a lot, finding bedding on the top floor and getting rooms ready on the main floor and basement. took a very short walk with DH and dogs.

total steps 9354
active score 909 (seems high for 11 sedentary hours!)
fairly active 1 hr 49 min
very active 27 min
miles 3.82

sp gave me 136 fitness minutes and 3.82 miles.
there are a couple of periods in the day where i am not sure that any walking was actually done - but we never sat in traffic, the car was moving the entire time.

just feeling a bit guilty about getting "credit" for all those fitness minutes when the time spent on "getting exercise" felt like considerably less...

You can also purchase a USB charger that plugs into an electrical outlet. Then just take your dongle with you and plug it into this charger and you can keep your FB charged.

Not quite sure what you are asking....your FB will keep information up to thirty days (as long as you keep it charged). And it will hold its charge for 5-6 days.

I agree that is a drawback to the nutrition sync aspect of this whole thing. The only way to correct your FB entry is to delete that line and then add a new line with the corrected amount. As I had been logging my food on both sites for years this is relatively easy for me to do. The FB food database is good just not as good as SPs. BTW, I found the MFP's method of syncing to be even more frustrating. The food entries you make on the MFP site show up on one catch-all line on the FB site. I definitely did not like this. But that is just MO.

Good luck!

I think there is somewhere on your Fitbit profile you can tell it how many days you want it to synch :) I seem to have set mine for 30 days or so.

I started inputting my food here instead of on My Fitness Pal because I liked the way it tracked the steps and exercise better here, but I definitely don't like the way it synchs the nutrition. I may have to go back to to MFP :(

It is definitely linked to Fitbit as what I enter here on Sparks automatically gets transferred to Fitbit, but once it is transferred I cannot make any changes except to delete it. If I make changes on Sparks, it does not change it in Fitbit.

Is there a way that when you make changes to your nutrition journal here on SP that it changes it on Fitbit? When I make changes, it does not change it on my Fitbit site and I can't change them manually either :( Am I missing something?????

All of the sudden - my Fitbit steps were not pulling over to the Spark site? I just went in and manually synched as much data as I could - one day at a time. Spark would not let me pull over data from Dec 1 & 2 though the www.fitbit.com shows that I have data for both of those days. Anyone know what is going on here?

I received the FitBit One yesterday and so far I am loving it! I linked my accounts and sync via my phone. I was worried about the info showing on SP the first time, but lo and behold it did! I go to Weight Watchers and don't count calories eaten or burned but I do like to keep up with my activity and I avidly count steps! This is the best Christmas present I've ever given myself!!!

Yes, if you dongle is not connected via the a USB port on your computer then you won't be able to sync on the FB site. You don't have to be so close but you should leave it connected to your computer and it will sync with your device whenever you are close by (I believe within 10'-15' of the dongle. You can also connect your Zip to your mobile device but that is another issue.

Make sure that your Zip is within a few inches of the wireless USB dongle plugged into your computer when you want to sync.
