I do that too. The maximum is only 1000 points a month for steps and I think you get 20 points a day all month for wearing it.

You can also link the fitbit to Walgreens.com and get rewarded for steps.

I got a Fit Bit One for Christmas and I have had all kinds of problems with it. I am returning it and wondering what kind of Fit Bit seems to be the best and sync with SP properly. There are several new ones outs. Which one would you get?

Does anyone know if there is a fix yet for the bluetooth issues. My phone will find my my flex but times out or something when connecting. It would be very convenient to have it connected to my phone. You should not have to have a 300+ $ phone to use your Fb and phone together. Any ideas would be wonderful. Thanks

Yes, your FB calculates floors by elevation. It counts every ten feet up as one floor.

Have a question?? I went for a walk today and there is a pretty steep hill, it said I walked up 11 stairs!! I asked my DH he had no idea, I said maybe my fitbit took into consideration the elevation I walked??

Anyone else notice this!!

Is your sync dongle plugged in? Or switch the place it's plugged into. if you email the company they are very good about replying with the answer. The data stays in the fitbit for days so you won't lose your data if you sink cays later. Good Luck!

Sometimes I within the distance I should be to sync with the computer but the computer doesn't read my Fitbit. Like today. I'm almost up to 5 flashing lights, but neither the Fitbit web site not Sparkpeople shows any activity. What's going on?

Hi,

I am receiving challenges from my friends on Fitbit. But I don't have a smartphone. I link through my laptop. How can I answer these challenges? There's no place to type anything so I've just been deleting them, but that seems rude. What are the different challenges on Fitbit?

The Flex doesn't count stairs climbed. For that you need a one or a charge (Charge HR and Surge coming soon)

Thanks Rockman.

Here's another question.
Fitbit counts flights of stairs, right?

Is that a manually entered thing, or can it tell if you're climbing stairs? If so, does it only count a full flight, or parts of flights?

@ PATLOW

The FLEX does not automatically go into sleep mode. I believe you have to tap a section a few times to get it to enter SLEEP MODE. Here is a link that provides the steps to do so:

help.fitbit.com/articles/en_US/Help_
ar
ticle/How-do-I-track-my-sleep/?l=en_R>US&c=Topics%3ASleep&p=flex&fs=Search&pn=1

With regards to entering additional activities on your SP page, yes you will be increasing the calories burned if you enter any activity. You have two options, either create a group activity that describes your exercise and assign it 0 (zero) time and calories OR list the activity in your DAILY NOTE section.

I got a new Flex last week after not having one for about 6 months.
I 've noticed that sometimes it goes in to sleep mode without me actively doing it.
Is this b/c I'm not moving--I'm sitting in a chair reading, etc.
How long must I be immobile to cause this to happen? Pretty annoying. How can I prevent it?

Another question--I'm linked to Sparkpeople. Under my activity on the start page it shows my "all day activity". Now if I log an activity-say bike riding- it adds more calories burned. What should I do? Not log the additional activity?

Thanks for any help.

I was wondering if anyone else is having this problem. I got my first flex in march and it died in October and they replaced it. I have had it about a month and the bracelet is slate blue, but now it has dark lines on all the edges that don't wash out, looks scuzzy. I even tried alcohol wipes but they don't go away. My first flex didn't look like that after 8 months of wearing it in all kinds of situations. This bracelet is also much stiffer, I thought it would soften up some with ware like the old one did after about a month.

Lolajo did you try plugging your fitbit charger into a different usb port on your computer. Sometimes those things quit working. I have one that everything plugs into really easily but nothing works when you use it. Good luck.

I love my flex, but if I ate all of the calories SP says I should after calculating my activity from fitbit I would be gaining at a steady rate! I wish I could eat 2300-2700 calories and lose weight! What I do is ignore what SP adds from fitbit, and just try stick to 1300-1500 per day. Now that I think about it, why do I have them synced? Haha.
So for anyone out there who uses both, be careful about eating what SP says you should after syncing with FB.

YAY my new fitbit came today!! Got it all logged in for replacement back on schedule for walking my 10,000 steps a day! So today I can start the Éowyn Challenge, which should be a fun motivation! The new band feels kind of stiff, maybe I will get the old one out for farm stuff where it gets banged up and wear the new one when I go to work and stuff.

I am all logged on as the replacement flex and now my dash board, under activities shows every activity for the last 8 months, instead of just todays, has anyone else had that happen?

I have the fitbit one, and very happy with it, counts stairs but not accurately, sometimes way under and sometimes, many more than I do, maybe something to do with walking on slopes, anyway, I have had mine for over a year, got it last July, and so happy with it

The flex doesn't count floors, the force did, not sure about the other fitbits. I saw the info for the new one it even has a heart rate.
I had ordered a new charger last week for my flex thinking it was the charger, it was supposed to be here Monday, and today I checked the mail and it was here. The bad news is that the flex is not charging in the new charger, I reset it several times, it fits in the charger better then the old one. Tried to charge on both the computer and the wall plug but nothing.

Edit note, today Fitbit wrote and are sending me a new fitbit, it is already shipped, Which is great, I feel so lost without it.

I put my flex thru my shoe laces when shopping or pushing a stroller, because at those times my arm isn't moving and thus no steps counted. Is the flex supposed to count floors?

My flex had to be charged about every 5-6 days, never had any other trouble with it other then now. I tried a pedometer yesterday but it looks very inaccurate. I put it on and ran around picking up and cleaning up around the house, downstairs to do laundry, back and forth through the bedroom to the bathroom for about 2 hours and it said I did 20 steps, it is more then 20 steps to the kitchen once never mind about 50 times. My flex was highly accurate in steps, I counted steps and checked and it was never off from my count more then 5 or 6 steps in 2000. Not sure what you mean about false numbers Shoreido, since the discussion was on charging not on the accuracy of steps but as I said once I set my stride it was highly accurate for me.

Didn't like the Flex either for that reason. False numbers are of no help to us,right?? : )

My flex has to be charged every 3rd day. Is that the same for anyone else?

I had the same problem after about 10 months with my FitBit. I called the company - it takes a while to get to a real live human. They sent me out an entire new FitBit in the box. I reregistered and all my info from the old one came back, so I did not lose my history. I am very happy with the company, but it is a common problem that the charging quits after a while.

I think it is a problem with the wire, it has been charging perfectly ok since I bought it until a couple of weeks ago, then it was positional. The battery fits tight in the holder, but for a few days if you held the charger up in a certain way it would charge, kind of tiring but worked, now it is completely dead no matter what I do. I did all the cleaning of the contacts but it really wasn't dirty and made no difference. It kind of screws up things not to have it, it was so easy to log exercise with it. Hopefully a new charger will fix it.

My flex does not reliably charge as designed. I found that I need to insert a small paperclip or a shim to press the flex backwards against the contacts so that it will reliably charge without my having to sit there and hold it in place.

What has been working best for me is the cheap shim shipped as a screwdriver to open an Omron pedometer that has since died; but I can make a paper clip work if it is thin enough.

If you have a Flex that isn't charging, I'd check to see if holding it more firmly against the contacts makes those charging lights show up. If that happens, look for something small to wedge between the Flex and the edge of the charging cradle to hold it in place while charging.

I expect this is due to a manufacturing variance in case size, as it happens with both the charger that came with the Flex and the old one my daughter gave me from her Flex that died.

I was already at that site, and did all that stuff, no lights appear on my flex at all and when that happens no charge at all. It is now dead, kind of disappointing, almost like you need a backup. I clipped on a pedometer that I had but there seems no way to enter steps in SP that I can see, so even though I did over 10 K steps I lost my sparkstreak that was going so good.

I am assuming that you have the Flex? I am not very familiar with device so I am unable to provide more assistance. On the One, when it is accepting a charge you will only see the charging battery icon when it is connected to the charger.

has anyone else had the charger fail? I cleaned the contacts on the charger and battery, reset it multiple times, tried several different USB ports on computers and wall units and nothing , it still has a little charge left but is noting low on the website. I have emailed them but no response so far except the automatic one
