All the Fitbits measure the shock that occurs on a footfall, that's why you can wear them anywhere on your body and they can still count steps. No arm swing is no problem with the Charge.

Had the One and absolutely loved it. I hike and want/need the flight counter/altimeter. Upgraded to the Charge (not HR) and the flight counter is glitchy. Hiked a pretty good little mountain with a 450' gain and it registered 3 floors (should have been around 45 floors)?????? Working with cust service on that issue (not getting any good answers yet). All other aspects of the Charge are great. Dont even know Im wearing the band anymore. Love some of the new features within Fitbit as well.

Had already ordered the Charge HR (when my hub bought me the Charge) but on backorder due to color and size. We'll see.

Just did a pushing-shopping-cart-thru-bumpy-parking-l
it test with my Surge. This had been an issue with my flex. The Surge tracked perfectly.

My Surge tracks without swinging my arms as on walk days I'll keep my hands in my pockets to stay warm. No problem tracking (I also didn't gave an issue with flex tracking with hands in pockets, but I walk quickly with long strides).

My first Fitbit just came yesterday. I got a Surge, because I wanted the option to select the type of workout, as well as the heart rate tracker and GPS for when hubby and I go hiking, or when I'm out walking in the neighborhood.

Sure, some may think it's a bit bulky, but even with my 6.5" wrist, I don't feel it's too big. The display is readable and easy to navigate. I slept with it on last night to test its ability to track that, and it wasn't uncomfortable during the night. I usually have a tendency to remove things that are cumbersome or restrictive while I'm asleep, but I didn't take it off. It may count extra steps here or there, or not enough other times, but I think it pretty much evens out over the course of a day, so I'm not worried about that. Besides, with the heart rate tracker, it can more accurately calculate my calorie expenditure that way. I think if you "bounce" enough while you carry baby, it would count your steps, though it may not be as accurate as if your hands were empty. This would go for any of the wrist-based trackers, though. I noticed that my Surge counted steps when I was shaking pillows into their cases last night before bed. I'll see how well it does with "jumpy" cardio and treadmill running with the HR thing this week.

EDIT: Oh! Big thing for you - the Surge is rechargeable; mine had a full charge after about half an hour plugged in (while I was running through setup stuff). I haven't had it long enough to test the battery life on it, but I think it's worth having a rechargeable unit so you're not having to regularly send off for batteries.

I love the idea of charging my unit while driving. Thank you!

I do want to thank this message board for the info re not being able to take the Fitbit unit out of the Charge. When I get ready to do some travelling, I'll get the One. I will be able to use my wrist wallet units with it.

The days my wrists are more ticked off, I put my Fitbit Flex unit in a few of the wrist wallet units that will go over my ankle.

I've had the flex since day one and love it!! I feel totally naked if I do not have it on my left wrist! I actually bring the USB charge port into my car and while I drive I charge it :o)
It is really accurate in terms of my steps and calorie burn and the only reason I would want to upgrade to the Charge is to have a digital readout of my steps instead of the dots but that is totally minor. Oh and I looove the sleep function too!

I have a new Charge HR and I love it! I upgraded from One, which I liked a lot. I feel like Chare HR is a lot more accurate with workouts (in general) without having to use another app to track.

I had the Ultra and when I ruined that by wearing it in the pool, I received the One for a Christmas gift. I love it. I have heard people returning the flex because it isn't accurate with the steps unless you swing your arms. You wear it on your wrist. My friend just purchase the HR monitor one and doesn't like it. It is not accurate with the steps, again because you wear it on your wrist. He mainly purchased it because the Dr. wants him to wear a HRM so he will keep it instead of wearing two devices but......... If I have to purchase another one for any reason it would be the One.

I upgraded from a FORCE to the SURGE but returned it (too bulky). I've since gotten the CHARGE HR, for me this does everything that I need. Some inaccuracy with heart monitoring while working out but this is not really a major issue for me. VERY happy.

I used to have a Zip, now I have a One. I love it. I also have a Vivosmart, but hate the app and website. I use them both and they are within a respectable difference in steps.

I've had the flex since summer 2013. Live it. It has been replaced twice when it stopped charging correctly or stopped syncing/counting correctly.

Husband has the One. He loves it. Lost 2 of them until Fitbit informed him it is not supposed to be worn on waist/pants. Since then, no issues losing it.

I just upgraded to the Surge. It was a gift. I'm a runner, and use a Garmin watch with HR chest strap to track distance, pace, HR, route, etc. I've been using the Surge and live it. It's a little harder for me to read at a glance than my Garmin, but still love it. I love the notifications so I can see who is calling/texting without taking out my phone (when I'm running it's not possible to easily get to my phone).

I like being able to see all my data on the screen. I no longer need to look at my phone at all except to check challenges.

It's big. It's not the most attractive. I had been waiting for the Appke watch to come out because I like the looks of those, but I haven't liked the Currect Apple step/health interface. I always wear a watch so this takes the place of my traditional watch.

I have the One. My husband and I got them for Christmas in 2012 and I still have my original unit. I like that it will track my floors and sleep as well as steps, and I get an instant read-out on my steps directly on the device. I didn't know until reading this thread that not all of them had that!

The only problem I've had with it is that the clip part of the case has come loose. They replaced the case for me 2-3 times over the first year I had it. I just had to send in a picture showing the issue.

Once in a while, if I am taking small steps, it won't register. That is pretty rare, though.

I have the Flex. Unfortunately, my android phone uses low energy Bluetooth. My Fitbit will not sync directly with the phone. If I sync with my computer, my phone will display the info in the app. The Flex does not give you an instant read out re steps.

I hope to do some traveling in the future, so would like a unit that would give me info on the unit. I like the concept of wearing on the wrist for most of the time. I buy the small plastic bands go over the clasp so I'm less worried re losing it than I would be with the one. In addition, I do have wrist issues so have picked up several "wrist wallets" that allow for more comfort than the bands. I have one wrist wallet that's big enough to wear on my ankle. I wore it that way today on a bike ride and it did log my steps.

I'm leaning towards the Charge. The band seems to be smaller than the other option. For some reason, the idea of something on my wrist constantly monitoring my heart rate makes me nervous.

What I end up getting will depend to a certain extent on how small the unit is out side of the normal case. I like my wrist wallets and want to make sure whatever I get will be comfortable in them.

I loved my One right up until I lost it. Right now I have the Flex and I'm wanting to upgrade to the Charge HR. I miss the stair counting ability of the One and I'm actually thinking that the HR is going to be a little better for me because of the heart rate monitor.

I'm definitely not a runner but I really do like my one. Some have complained of inaccuracy at times but I have not seen that. It does not measure heart rated which some of the others do. Good luck!

Everybody tells me that they would love to knit, but they don't have time. I look at people's lives and I can see opportunity and time for knitting all over the place. I have a zip. I'm frustrated with it, because I'm burning through batteries like crazy. I've spent far more on batteries than the device cost at this point and the WASTE! So, I am going to upgrade.

But, I'm a runner. I'm pretty active. And so I've been looking at upgrading to the Charge HR. But I am concerned because I have heard it counts arm swing and with kids, I'm often walking around with a baby in my arm and my arms aren't swinging.

For that reason, I'm considering getting a One.

What do you have? What do you like about it? What are the drawbacks?

Thanks!!
