I agree. I expected Bonnie to cry and whine to stay, but, she did the opposite. Really proud of her and so happy Becky gets to stay. This is getting good!

Well, Bonnie redeemed herself. I thought she'd give some whiney story about how she just wasn't ready to go home, but she didn't. Good for her.

And did I miss the preview?? What's next week?

Loved the stats. I had to go figure out who could lose 50%.

I am 99% sure that John will lose 50%. He is down 126 lbs. already, and only needs to lose 97 more to get to 222. Barring a meltdown, he should beat that. So if 50% is the target, who can get there?

Becky or Bonnie has the least chance. Becky would have to weigh 119, losing another 94. Bonnie would have have to weigh 127, losing 86 more. I think Sunny has the best chance of the women. She can hit 50% at 138,losing just 78 more. That is entirely possible.

That leaves 4 guys.... Antone,John,Ramon, and Vinny.. I think Ramon has the least chance of the guys.. he would have to drop to 177( 103 to lose ), and I just dont think that is likely, considering he is a former football player, and probably caries some muscle weight. Second, in my opinion is Antone , who has to get to 223 ( 125 to lose ).. I think he will be like Rulon.. 223 is not even an idea he could think of .. he is 6'5" also. I think he will bottom out around 250. Vinny has the 2nd best chance to win in my opinion. He has dropped 12, and 10 in the last 2 weeks becoming consistent, and still weighs 345. Only Antone is currently heavier. He need to drop 132 to get to 213( 50 % ). The reason I think he will make the final is his recent consistency. If he sticks with it, he has a good shot. Not sure if he could lose 132 lbs though.

That leaves just John, who has no muscular foundation, loses weight like mad. and has lost 9 lbs once. Every other week has been double digits. He misses one week, they should, and will, vote him off, but I wouldn't bet on him stumbling.

It is going to be fun to see how this plays out, Some of these big guys stumble, and get voted off for game play, and the ladies might be laughing at the finale. These guys might have the odds, but they also have huge targets on them.

I would like to see Sunny, and John at the finale.. the rest don't matter to me.

Lynda, loved the information. Thanks so much for posting it.

Finally got to watch last weeks episode last night. Is it just me or does the show seem to be running out of steam? I did like that the trainers participated in the challenge, but I don't know... there is something about this season that is making me think *yawn*...

I've been so impressed with the fact that I have lost nearly 60 pounds in 1 1/2 years. I love The Biggest Looser and it makes great television but the fact that I have made life long changes and it wasn't over night is more meaningful to me than those "loose ....lbs in five weeks" (add condescending tone here)programs. I just saw one of those advertisements as I made my last post and was a little annoyed to see it on spark. I know this thread is about our thoughts on the show but it seemed the most appropriate place to share my thoughts.

First, thank you for starting a new thread. I hate sifting through posts just to get to last weeks comments. Also, I was really enjoying this thread until y'all got all mathy on me emoticon

For weeks I liked Ramon and even thought his relationship with Jess was cute. I did want to shout at the TV last week "grow up dude! it's a game! It's a game!" Now I think I'm leaning towards Becky. she is level headed, hard working and someone to look up to as a mother and grandmother.

Barbara, I have all the stats from previous seasons [sorry, I'm just a geek at heart!]

The most lost by a man was Season 8's Danny Cahill who lost 239lbs, 55.58%
The most lost by a woman was Season 7's Helen Phillips who lost140 lbs, 54.47%

Mike Ventrella, Season 9's winner, lost 264 lbs, but that was 'only' 50.19% of his original weight [can't believe I said 'only' - ha!]

In case anybody cares to keep reading stats, Season 3's Erik Chopin is the 3rd highest loser for lbs at 214lbs and 52.58% but as we all know, he gained much of it back and then lost a lot again and I've lost track of where he is now on his weight. Anybody know?

Two at-home winners have also lost more than 200 lbs - Koli Palu from Season 9 at 215 lbs, 53.35% and Mark Pinkhasovich from Season 9 who lost 213lbs, 50.59% - they are two of the four at-home winners who lost a higher percentage than the Biggest Loser - of the other two, one was Jim in Season 4 whose brother Bill was the Biggest Loser and the other was Heba, who was voted off by America's vote, which allowed Michelle Aguilar to win.

In looking over the stats, I was once again reminded how much things have changed - the first year's Biggest Loser was Ryan Benson who 'only' lost 122 lbs and 37.00% and that year's at-home winner was Dave Fioravanti, whose 71 lbs and 28.00% would have us calling him a 'slacker' now, haha!

One last statistic comment for now - not counting the first season, out of the 20 Biggest Loser and At-Home Winners, 8 have lost more than 50% and 12 have lost between 45% and 50%, with the at-home and final winners just about even as to their ultimate success.

Hope this wasn't too boring or geeky to read!

Sorry everyone who read this in the other thread but I'm going to re-post my thoughts for Russell about the stats - if you already read this, just 'close your eyes' for a minute, haha!
emoticon

Here's my repost:
I don't think Bonnie can lose enough between now and the finale to win the whole thing - in past years, the winners have lost between 45% and 56% of their starting weight [not counting the first year which was only 37%]. According to the official stats, Bonnie has lost 41 lbs at Week 8 which is the lowest at 16.1%. John is the high loser at 126 lbs and 28.3% - Vinny is at 19% and the rest are sort-of tightly clustered in the middle at 21.1% to 22.1% - in other words, Bonnie is 5% to 6% below the middle and more than 12% below the top.

Assuming 'game play' kicks in, John will be probably be voted off at the first opportunity the others have to do it - Sunny and Becky are almost out of the obese category so their losses might slow down some - Antone & Ramon will be neck-and-neck to the finale and Vinny still has a chance to whoosh up from behind - he has the highest BMI so I think he is capable of doing what John and the others have done before IF he picks up the pace - now that he's working with Bob, I think he probably will because John's big losses were under Bob's coaching. The 'unknown' factor is whoever wins the marathon, which I think we are all predicting might be Jessica.but Patrick or even Mike are bound to give it a run for the money [pun intended].

The other players will probably not vote Bonnie off because she seems to be less of a threat but I think she actually is, in fact, less of a threat - in part because of her age but also because she's gotten such a slow start. Even if she picks up speed with her losses, she has a LOT of ground to make up. At this point, half-way through the season, she has lost 41 lbs and to take the whole thing, would probably need to lose at least another 75-80 lbs or so, which I don't think she can do! In other words, she's only about 1/3 of the way to where she would need to be to win while Becky and Sunny are already almost 1/2 way there - and John is MORE than half-way to the level of most past winners.

So I don't think Bonnie CAN win it - then again, I was wrong one other time and this might be a second time, haha!

Russell, this is the reason I would love to see a season of only men and a season of only women to kind of even up the score. I'm not saying that women can't win, because they can and have, but I think it would definitely level out the playing field.

I think it really is a matter of how long they have total to drop weight. The big guys could hit 50% lost easily.. still be over 200 lbs. Becky would have to weigh 119 to achieve 50%.Sunny at 277, could drop to 138, and hit 50%. I still think John will hit 50% easily, and if they don't vote him off the first time he has a bad week, they will never catch him. It won't even be close. He is at 28.3 % lost already.

If the show is shorter it may help the ladies. One of these years a guy is going to drop 60%, and that is just impossible for most women.. They hit GW before they drop that much. If John weighs 222, he will be over 50%. That isn't even that light. Of course he could get home, and mess it all up too..lol

Ramon is who I would like to see win it ! I just love this show!

I've been watching it every Tuesday (usually eating some horrible snack) and Bonnie really has been an inspiration! For so long I have been saying I just can't do it. I hate to work out. But, really if she can do it! I have no excuse!

So this weekend I am going to get off my butt and start doing it!

How old is Bonnie? I don't think she's ever mentioned her age. emoticon

I was impressed with her 8, but considering her low numbers and little effort up to this point, I'm not impressed with her as a person. Regardless of editing, her effort and numbers have sucked.

Ramone was really whiny this episode. I expected that to a degree.

I think Joe looks great. He's doing awesome at home.

Ahhh...Ramone! I agree that he was a little out of hand this week. I've really liked him throughout the season but was a little disappointed in his actions this past week. I'll give him some credit though, he seemed to settle down a bit so hopefully he will get him self back on track. The person I haven't seen talked about much is Becky...I think she is doing wonderful and I think that she is really going to do it. She seems to be the most well rounded contestant, meaning, she has her head in the right place as well as her workouts and eating habits that will carry her though after the show is over. Sure, she still has some issues, but she seems mentally strong enough to work through them. I'm thinking she has a real shot at winning this thing!

I definately can't wait for Bonnie to be gone! Though I'm not to fond of Anna she didn't even try with her. As for Ramone, I liked him but his pouting this week was a out of hand! I think he forgot this is a game after all. I really haven't decided on who I really like this season, even though I am enjoying it.

Not one contestant looked comfortable in the kitchen. Dolvett is the only reason his team didn't serve raw meat, but we are supposed to believe they made dishes that could be served at a fine diner?

Try the challenge at home. You'll see that it was faked. I would be surprised to learn that they even cook their own meals after seeing them in the kitchen. Someone who could cook THOSE dishes in 30 minutes.. was NOT on camera during this show.. trust me.

It's not that easy, especially the presentation.

I agree about the challenge--it was fun to see the trainers involved in it, and the angst they each went through trying to decide which person would be the one for the weigh in. I don't agree with you, Russell, about the recipes. I am sure that the computer printouts were prepared by production staff, not the individuals.

And we all agree--Bonnie's weight loss now shows how little she worked through the first part of the show. For that alone, she should be gone.

As most of you are I am also tired of Bonnie, the constant crying and screaming and grunting while working out. Really???

As for Ramon and Jess, these 2 need to get real. I'm in love and I'm going to spend the rest of my life with you after 6 weeks, come on!!! I think the producers should have left this love story on the cutting room floor. Let the relationship take it's course, then let the cat out of the bag after the finale as they have done in past seasons.

I disagree about the challenge, though, I liked that for the first time the trainers got to be involved. That was something new and fresh and I liked it.

Do you think Bonnie's being kept on to torture us?! So much whining!! And crying because she slid down the water slide last week? REALLY?!

I loved the recipes! Does anyone own the Biggest Loser Cookbook? I'm all about EASY! Would love to know what y'all think!

Ramone....c'mon Man!! Get over yourself! This is a GAME! It's all about getting healthy, but the prize at the end...the $$s and the opportunites. If they saw Jess as a threat, I think that's a completely valid reason to vote her off. And I do think she's a contender for the marathon win!

So excited to be a part of the team and have the ability to chat about my fave show!

Bonnie is doing great. But Ramone is being unreasonable. He has to learn to stand on his own two feet and stop thinking he cant do anything without Jess.
How is he going to feel if he goes home and finds that she is doing better than him, or vice versa, what if once they are outside of the ranch the feelings arent the same?
Is he going to sabatoge is success?

I can't agree with you both more! The way that Bonnie has changed overnight for Dulvett is as infuriating as her constant boohooing. I'm not an Anna fan, but this is a severe slap in the face to Anna. I hope that before it's over that Anna will tell her she COULD have been working so hard all along. To heck with the others talking about how "Bonnie has really stepped it up." Well, Bonnie SHOULD have stepped it up from the beginning. I'm so ready for her to go!

OMG about Bonnie! The most annoying thing about her was how awful she was w/ Anna but then she buttered up for Dolvet in no time. I think her time is up though she should be gone w/in the next couple weeks.

OMG I agree about Bonnie making the final three. Are you kidding me that she is still there? Any other contestant that would only loose a pound or two a week would have been gone a long time ago...it's time for her to NOT be the biggest looser! Don't get me wrong..loosing her 8 pounds this week was great and good for her but what about the last 7 weeks? I really don't know how she is still there...just my opinion.

I have trouble following 3 threads , so I figured we could just have 1 for this week.

I skipped through a lot of this week with FF. The first hour seemed like it was impossible for any contestant to finish a sentence without tears. I though Olivia looked phenomenal. Many former contestants are fit, but I think Ali , and Olivia are super-fit.

I thought the challenge was hilarious. The one team came up with No mess, Tex Mex. Really? In 30 mins they came up with that name, and then while struggling to make a meal in 30 minutes, wrote down the caloric values in a computer printout? How do they do it? lol

Obviously they were just making something out of the BL cookbook. It was pretty lame. I would like to see if they actually learned ANYTHING about making healthy meals on the ranch.I doubt that they will be eating meals with a kitchen that well stocked, and a BL cookbook to guide them. Let them make a real meal, and put THAT in the cookbook.

I was so worried that John was going home. I hope he wins. He never complains, just drops double digits every week. Sending Joe home was a good call. He was second in weight loss at 22%, and is down 34% at the time of the update at the end of the show. He is going to be a challenger for the overall. Anyone thinking Bonnie is gonna make the final because she was given a pass all those weeks she didn't lose much? John, Antone, and Vinny should be able to lose 50%, and whichever one doesn't get voted off should win.

I am excited about makeover week. Does anyone else think they should ban tuxedos as a makeover. The Ladies get all glammed up, and the guys put on a tux..lol. I don't get it. Do you ladies like the guys in tuxedos, or would you like to see some fashion for the guys?
