In Nov 2004 my husband and I went hiking in the "Big Trees" area of the Sierras. I had trouble climbing the slope, but thought nothing of it since I was overweight and out of shape. A week and a half later, after lunch I was feeling tired. We had a cot in one of the restrooms, so I went there to take a 10 minute nap. When I laid down I couldn't get comfortable, but when I sat up I felt better. There had been several PSAs about heart attack warnings on the TV at that time and it just seemed to add up. I told my supervisor I wasn't feeling well and wanted someone to take me to the hospital. The intake nurse took one look at me and put me in bed. I didn't leave the hospital until a week later, but with two stents.
I've been symptom free ever since.

A couple of years ago my pulmonary doctor heard a heart murmur that he had not heard before so he referred me to a cardiologist. She ordered an Echo and found I had mild aorta stenosis but decided to just watch it for awhile which we did with Echos every 6 months. Then in March of this year I made a trip to the ER with chest pains and shortness of breath. They kept me overnight and did another Echo and discovered that the stenosis had advanced rapidly and recommended surgery. During a heart cath procedure they discovered two blockages and inserted stents which put the Tavar surgery off for a couple of weeks. Finally had the surgery in April and am now going to cardio rehab for 36 weeks. This past Friday, I finished session #17 of Rehab and am doing great, but need to focus on doing what is necessary to be more healthy and lose my excessive weight.

I first had a heart blockage in 2017 and had a stent put in. Everything was good till I changed drs. He wanted an ekg for a baseline . After the girl was done giving me the ekg, my new dr ran in and said You're in bigeminy! He sent me to the ER immediately and their was a cardiologist there. I was having a mild heart attack. Weird thing is, I felt great! So now I am in cardio rehab with a therapist for 36 weeks.

IN March 2016 I had some heart palpitations and also quick heart beats and irregular beats, etc.
The dr put me on a Heart Monitor to wear for 30 days for 24/7 and I had it on for a month. Only took it off to shower. Each time I had different symptoms I scrolled down on this monitor and pushed the button, there were about 7 different types of heart palpitations. I also had to push the button for what activity I was doing each time it happened. It also happened when I was sleeping so did not get much sleep for that month. After the month was up the cardiologist had reviewed the results and I had a appointment with him. Before I arrived the pcp dr said it was
possible that I had AFIB......when I saw the cardiologist he said I did not have a heart attack. My pcp dr put me on a Baby Aspirin right away for the rest of my life. They diagnosed me with PVC's....which are Premature Ventricular Contractions. So now that I am aware I need to be careful and watch for signs. Hopefully they will not get worse. So I am watching my BP and making sure to exercise and eat healthy I did this before but this makes it more important to me.
Thanks for sharing .

Wnen we moved from NY state to Wilmington NC in the 80's I applied for a job in a local Hospital in the Data Processing Dept. The ER did the physical and discovered I had a
leaking Aortic Valve that would need replacing in a couple of years. I wasn't replaced until 1998 a human valve.14 yrs later This was after my husband then dad died.

in 1999 I decided to move to Fl and my other valves gradually got worse. The replacement is the best of the lot after all these years. In 2009 they discovered I had 99% blockage in the
main artery (widow maker) I had double bypass. The bypasses blue out in 2013 and I refused
a third open heart surgery and they did manage to do stents.. Good decision. I am fortunate to be here even with all the valves and heart problems. I really think SP has helped me to stay active and if not healthy, here and able to do quite a bit. emoticon

Well I've started us out so let's hear from the rest of you.

Please share your cardiac events with us. I discovered heart disease in 2009 with a mild heart attack.
