Carol, years ago, I had constant sinus infections, the doctor put me on a maintenance dosage of antibiotics to get rid of all the infection. I believe it was for like 6 weeks. But I did finally have to go to ENT who did sinus surgery because my sinuses weren’t draining properly; they made what they called windows to drain them, that did end the constant infection.

Starr and Krys, your pups and their outfits are too cute! I have a little coat for my pup, but he’s very hot blooded, and never minds the cold unless it’s in the teens or below.

Sorry that photo of Tater is lop sided. I didn't realize that it was till I'd already pasted it onto SP.

I hope that you'll fell much better soon Carol. I speak from lots of experience when I say that sinus infections are not fun at all. The make you feel horrible. I hope that the specialist will be able to help you, as in working something out so that you won't get them as much!

I put up my Christmas tree this afternoon. No decorations yet, but that will come soon. For me, it is a big accomplishment just to get the tree put together and into an upright position. emoticon

My eldest DD had wrist surgery Wednesday and is in a partial hard cast. So was going stir crazy (having been in the house 4 days) and asked me I'd come get her and bring her to my house so that we could watch a TV program that I'd recorded (Good Doctor) and a Christmas movie that I'd recorded. So that is what I did this afternoon. The Christmas movie was not as good as I thought that it would be, but the Good Doctor was a good episode. I have not seen any episode of that which was not good.

My youngest DD is spending the night with my eldest DD, so I have the house to myself this evening/night. Just me, my 2 dogs & 2 cats.

I hope that you all have a great remained of the weekend.

Hugs to all,

Starr

Such cute photos of your dogs. I sure miss having a dog, but someday I may have one again. Still dealing with sinus issues. I made an appointment in Jan. to see a specialist. I have had so many incidents of sinusitis. It knocks me for a loop. Unfortunately, I have taken antibiotics so much in the past a lot of them no longer will work for me. Enjoy your weekend. I do not have much going on this weekend. I may be watching my grandson tomorrow while my son goes for his PET scan tomorrow. It will depend on how my grandson is feeling since he is recovering from pink eye and ear infections also.

Kry, I love his pretty little blue sweater. He's so cute. That is how my 3 legged Chihuahua is, with little hair. Although she has even less hair then your little one does. On some parts of her body, she doesn't have any hair at all. So she wears a sweater/coat almost all winter. And even sometimes during the summer I will see her trembling, so I will put a tee-shirt. Then she quite trembling, relaxes and lays down for a nap.

Sue, I will if you don’t have stairs, lol. Don’t work too hard on your wreaths.

Krys, Yoda is a cutie! Makes me want to get another one.

Still doing odds and ends, just haven’t felt quite up to par. I’m putting it on too much rich food at Thanksgiving, not used to eating like that anymore.

Finished decorating tonight, I’m beat. I’ve cut way back, but it still seems to take a long time & all the trips up and downstairs. My knees are hurting pretty bad.

KAY - thanks, we enjoyed him even though the visit was short.

CAROL - sorry about the pie!

Starr - My daughter works for Microsoft and Windows 7 (only) will lose all its security support, so it is hazardous to have it connected to the internet after January.

Starr,
Maybe it was a sign I shouldn't have pumpkin pie lol.
I was thinking when you mentioned about both your credit cards having insufficient funds. Did you check your account to make sure that someone didn't get into it. There are so many scammers out there that steal from people like that. Years ago someone got on the computer and had a grand old time going out to eat, buying shoes etc. Luckily, I did not have to pay for it. I have had friends that it has happened to as well.

My day has been busy. I cleaned the bathrooms which is a real feat for me since I am disabled. I washed also. I am just now finishing up my dinner. I made butternut squash & chicken. The squash was quite time consuming since I cut it in cubes, sprinkled it with a butter, salt, pepper, brown sugar mixture and cooked it in the oven.

Both of my kids are fighting illnesses. My grand daughter is sick now also. My son called me today and asked me if I'd take him to the hospital since his Dr. thought he was in a-fib. Turns out after speaking with a cardiologist it was not the case. It does concern me since I'm sure his pulse is elevated since he is fighting an infection. He battled cancer last year and also had pneumonia last year. My daughter has a respiratory infection, started on anti-biotics, but still is fighting it. It will be a miracle if I do not become ill. I think I will go to the store and try to find something to build up my immune system.

I hope that all of you had a wonderful & blessed Thanksgiving.

Carol, I am sorry that your pumpkin pie got messed up. That is my favorite pie. Yummy.

Been busy today. Went to the bank 1st thing this morning. Came home to do housework, laundry, paid bills, made several business phone calls and practiced piano several times. Now getting ready to make dinner, as Tammy will be home in about an hour.

DD & I went out to eat lunch yesterday. I gave the cashier my debit card to pay. She said that her "machine" said that there were insufficient funds, even though I have $2000.00 in my account. I gave her Tammy's debit card and the machine said the same thing. I told her that there was something wrong with her machine. She said no, that there is not. I didn't have any cash on me, so I gave her my only credit card....which I normally use for only emergencies. She said that the machine declined the credit card too. Even though I am no where near my credit limit on it. So I told her that I didn't know how I was going to pay the bill, since her machine claims that I don't have any money on any of my cards. I didn't have any cash on me. I was very surprised when she told me that I could pay it the next time I come in. I am not sure that I want to go back, with her stupid machine not working properly!!

Last night a football legend (as far as the residents of the state of Oklahoma feel) passed away from complication of ALS….just like my precious Alan did. He had been the coach for a local high school football team for more than 30 years. To him it was not just a job, it was a calling. He loved all of his football players thru all of the years that he coached. He had taken the team to the championships (or whatever the highest thing that you can achieve in football is) more than 20 times in 30 years. He is such a legend that the city of the high school where he coached, when they found out that he had ALS, renamed the football field of the high school where he worked, Alan Tremble stadium. And the city had one of the streets named Alan Tremble Way. Even after being diagnosed and him being disabled and in pain (he had to get around via a golf cart), he still continued to coach for another year. When I heard the announcement of his death on the news this morning, it had just been announced to the public a couple of hours before that newscast. But there were already hundreds of bouquets of flowers, handmade signs in honor of him & stuffed animals lying at and attached to the fence of the football field. I am willing to bet that there are going to be hundreds of people at his funeral. Even all of the kids who did not play football were in love with him. I’ve been praying for his family ever since it was announced that he had ALS. I know firsthand what they have been going thru, with trying to battle & care for someone with ALS.

Someone told me a couple months ago that as of January 1st 2020, any computer that is connected to Windows in any way will be rendered unusable. I do not know if that is true, or even who I would call to find out. Have either of you heard anything like that and/or know how you would find out if it is true?

At church on Sunday there were 2 men in the pew in front of me who talked constantly thru the entire service. The 2 Sundays prior to that, there were 2 other men in the pew behind me who talked the entire time. In the past few months, I have moved 3 times to different parts of the sanctuary to get away from people who think it is acceptable to talk thru a church service. Not only is it very rude & disrespectful, but for people who already have a hard time hearing (me) it is really annoying!! Half why thru the service yesterday, because I was able to hear only a few words here and there, I left. It didn’t even matter that at one point I gave the men the “shush” sign—putting my finger over my lips and saying shush.

Ok that’s it for me for today.

Hugs to you both,
Starr

Starr, you’ve really had some good eating this Thanksgiving! I’ve never heard of a spinach enchilada but I know I’d like it. I love Mexican food.

Trying to get house ready for Christmas decorations, took down Thanksgiving today.

Krys, hope you had a good visit with your grandson.

Hay there you all.

Well, Thanksgiving is over for another year. I went to my neighbor's "friendsgiving" on Thursday, which turned out very good. Not only were 4 of our neighbor's there, but the hosts brother & SIL too. We had turkey, mashed potato & gravy, broccoli & rice casserole, sunshine salad& rolls. For desert we had pumpkin spice cookies, pumpkin pie, lemon cream pie & banana cream pie.

Then yesterday my family had Thanksgiving dinner. There was a lot more food there then there was at my neighbors. Ham, green bean casserole, sweet potato casserole, homemade poppy seed bread, cranberry sauce, tuna casserole, pumpkin pie & pecan pie. After eating, all of us played card games for 2 & 1/2 hours.

Driving home was a bit on the difficult side for me. I don't see all that great at night, and it had been raining. So the roads were very wet and the road lights were shinning off of the pavement, making it very difficult for me to see. It took me almost twice as long as usual, but I made it home safe & sound.

Today me and both my DD's went to my husband's cemetery (2 & 1/2 hours round trip) to decorate his grave for Christmas. On our way back home, we stopped at a Mexican food restaurant for a late lunch. I had a spinach enchilada, refried beans & Mexican rice. It was yummy; I’d not had Mexican food in awhile. The high was 64 degrees today, which was beautiful to be going to the cemetery. But the winds were traveling at 50 to 60 miles an hour. Even though I don’t have a “high profile” vehicle, the high rate of wind makes it hard to keep the vehicle on the road.

OK all, I am going to go warm up some Thanksgiving left over’s for dinner.

Hugs to you all.

Starr, that sounds lovely. She was very generous to do that and what a wonderful way to get to know each other. Wonderful! Have fun preparing and going to your next one at your DD’s!

We had 26 for dinner, very lively bunch, kinda crowded but we made it. It was a good time and things went smoothly.

Well DD & I are back from the “friendsgiving” at our neighbor’s house—she lives 4 houses down from us on the other side of the street. She invited 4 of us, (all neighbors on this block) but only 2 of us came. And her brother & sister-in-law texted her last night telling her that since all of their family was having the thanksgiving get-together on the weekend, they had nothing to do today. My neighbor told them that they did have something to do…..they would come to her house and celebrate with her and a few of her neighbors. So there were 7 of us in all, plus a dog & cat who were demanding attention from everyone. (Both of them got lots of petting & attention). We had turkey, mashed potatoes & gravy, cranberry sauce, the sunshine salad that I brought, homemade rolls, dressing, pumpkin pie, lemon cream pie & banana cream pie. We stayed just over 2 hours, and I was quite ready to come home when we did. It was a nice time.

I hope that you all had a nice & blessed Thanksgiving.

Well guys, I need to get into the kitchen and start preparing stuff to take over to my DD’s tomorrow for our family thanksgiving. So off I go……

Hugs, Starr

Starr,
Yes, I am still planning on going. My son told me they are going to his wife's Uncle's house. I look forward to seeing my son and his family. It is always a joy seeing my grand kids. I hope my son will be feeling better. He had a cold the other day. I guess I'll need to increase my vitamins because I just got over having a sinus infection for 3 weeks.

Getting ready to head to my volunteering at a hospital gift shop. I enjoy it even though right now it is quite busy. I am quite tired today since my daughter's cat woke me up at 6 a,m. today. I usually do not go to sleep until around midnight. My daughter sleeps so soundly she does not wake up easily to feed him. The kitty knows I am a light sleeper. If I try to ignore him, he starts to claw the carpet. Little stinker! Have a good day!

Starr, that’s nice of her to invite her neighbors, and it keeps her from being alone too. Hope you have goo weather for your grave visits.

Carol, I can sympathize because I don’t like crowds of people especially if I don’t know them all. Sometimes my family can be a bit overwhelming too. Lol But you might enjoy it, I usually do, if I make myself go.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Happy Monday everyone.

Krys, on Thanksgiving my neighbor has invited me to her house, where she will have 3 other of our neighbor’s. The neighbors who live on either side of her house. And the one who lives across the street from me. We all live in the same block. She is divorcing her husband, so it is just her and her elementary school age son. The son is going to be spending the day with his dad. So she decided to have a “Friendsgiving” for a few of her lady neighbors. Then the day after Thanksgiving my DD, her husband, his brother, his grown son & my GD will be at my house for “pot-luck—Thanksgiving dinner. DD & SIL will cook & bring the turkey; everyone else will provide the side dishes & drinks. On Thanksgiving DD, SIL & GD will be going to his family’s home. There are more than 30 people crammed into one house, and I feel really uncomfortable in a situation like that, so I stay home.
Sometime this week I am going to go buy Christmas wreathes for my DH’s & all the pets that I have lost graves. Will probably go next weekend to place those on their graves. DH’s cemetery is just over an hour East of where I live, and my pets cemetery is just under an hour North West of where I live. Last year I split it up into 2 weekends so that I didn’t have to spend so much time on the road in one day. I might do that again this year. I am going to watch the weather closely these next 2 weeks. Going to try to go when the wind is not strong and it has not been raining recently. Last year the wind almost knocked us over, and my pets cemetery was soggy from all the rain that we’d had.

Kay, I am so glad to hear that your brother is doing well after the heart surgery. That’s very good news.

Carol, are you going to go to your sons family’s home for Thanksgiving? You said that he had invited you, but didn’t say that you were going to go. I understand you being nervous about meeting the new people. I feel that way about my DD’s in-laws. There are SO many in the house and it is very loud, can’t understand what anyone is saying because of all of the constant noise. I am really shy, so the two times that I did go right they got married, I just kind of stayed in the corner and wished that I was home. None of them are all that friendly, even when you go into their different “groups” and try to join in the conversation.

Happy Thanksgiving Eureka. emoticon emoticon emoticon

emoticon to all,
Starr

Kaye,
I'm glad your brother is doing well after his heart surgery. It sounds like you are going to have a house full.

I had no plans for Thanksgiving, my mom, sister , niece and nephew are going out to eat. I did not want to go due to my IBS and the cost. My son invited me to join his family in their celebrations. They are planning on going to her Uncles's house. I am a bit nervous about meeting all the new people.

Had a nice Thanksgiving with some of DH’s side today. My side will be Thursday at our place; I think around 24 of us. It will be a busy week. Expecting my brother to come in tomorrow. He’s recovering from heart surgery that he had at Cleveland Clinic. He’s doing really well.

Sue, so sorry about your cat. It’s so hard to lose our fur babies because they’re a member of our family. I’m glad your horse is doing better and you have your new pup to help you through the sad times. I wondered if you were still making your wreaths so I imagine you’re very busy.

We’re having a beautiful snow which is more in keeping with Christmas, but I love to see it.

Sorry to hear about the pets that had to be put to sleep. Always a hard thing, they are family and the loss is deep.

Panda, I am SO, SO sorry that you had to put your baby to sleep today. I know exactly how horrible that is. The year before last my 17 year old cat had cancer and the vet did surgery. He was able to get all of the cancer, which was wound up like a tennis ball and sticking on the end of his tail bone. Dr. said that it came off easily, like plucking an orange from a tree. The doctor had him stay overnight for observation. He passed away in the middle of the night. The vet was almost in tears when he called me to say that he had passed. He said that Mischief was doing fine when the vet office closed at 8 the night before. And he said that he did so well during and post surgery. Said that he did NOT expect Mischief to have any problems. But that he threw a blood clot which evidently went to his brain. Vet said that he passed instantly. Then a year ago this past July I lost my precious little Chihuahua Magic. Had she lived for another week, she would have been 12 years old. She had lung cancer. She had a horrible time with breathing (literally gasping for air) and was just getting worse, so I let her go and she peacefully went to sleep in my arms. My sweet cat, Tulsa, will be 14 years old in May. Thankfully, she is in good health (at least as far as I know she is). I hope that I will have her, at least, as long as I did Mischief. As long as she stays healthy and has good quality of life.

yes, Tawni, my puppy is very busy.
Montana, my horse is getting better finally. Montana has foot problems and vet has been slow to react to things. Tues. i think we are now on the right track with the lymes and the foot problems brought on due to the lymes.
today i had to have my 16 and 1/2 tear old cat euthanized. he has had health problems and honestly should have been done sooner, but hubby thought he knew better, well, i really had to point out to hubby this morning how D.J. was acting and not really eating and he finally agreed.
D.J. was a rescue from a local humane society 16 yrs ago.
this week has been a cry week for me due to other situations.
it's late and i need some sleep as we have started making wreaths and next week is coming way to fast.

Have a good Friday.

Sue, a new pup can keep can keep you busy. Is your horse not doing well; I remember you said it had Lyme disease? Sorry that you have that worry.

It was a rainy windy day, that I disliked having to go out to a meeting. I went on from meeting to the fitness center, because there was no chance of doing anything outside today.

Your church Thanksgiving luncheon sounds great. I always overeat at those things because I want to try a little of everything. Doctors don’t have the the last word, do they? God does. That’s was a heart warming story about the baby. As far as the credit score, the ones that I’ve been on have a way to look at the details of what they have listed for you. Some of them allow you to correct any info that is error under your name.

emoticon Sorry I’ve not been on here the past couple of days.

Sunday my church had their Thanksgiving lunch. It was really good, and a lot of food. The church provided the turkey & ham, corn, green beans, sweet potatoes, white potatoes, white & brown gravy, cranberry sauce & rolls. Everyone was supposed to bring a dessert. So when I say there was a LOT of food, I mean it. I made a cherry dump cake, and I was very surprised when I left to find entire baking dish empty! That was with about 30 other kinds of desserts on that table. So the next time that the church asks for desserts, I think I will bring that again. You can make different flavors of dump cake. Pumpkin, blueberry, strawberry, peach, apple, mincemeat, blackberry. Basically any kind of pie/cobbler that you can think of can be made into a dump cake. And it is really easy to make too. It takes longer to bake then it does to assemble & get ready to go into the oven.

Hay do any of you ladies know anything about your credit scores? I monitor mine and have found that every 4 months the score has decreased. I am NOT happy about this and cannot figure out why it is happening. I always pay my bills on time; have only 1 credit card—which I pay off every month. So I have no outstanding bills. Mine & my DH’s credit score was always in the mid to high 800’s. But now it is down in the high 600’s. I am not planning on buying anything on credit/time, but you never know what may happen and it will be necessary to do so. But even aside from that, it makes me feel (I don’t know; stupid or not worthy) for my credit score to be so low. Does that make any sense? I called the credit bureaus, but they charge more than $50.00 just to look at your history to find out why your credit score is reducing.

Today I had my piano lesson, after that I went & picked up my groceries from wal-mart. On the way home we picked up some lunch from Taco Bell. The high today was 70 degrees, but didn’t feel that warm because of a cold wind……a lot of folks would be complaining about it being to “cold”, but not me. I LIKE cool weather.

Two weeks ago a church members DIL was pregnant and put in the hospital (for the 2nd time) with high blood pressure. The doctor told her that they were going to have to take the baby by cesarean section right then. Because the continued high blood pressure could kill the baby. The baby was not due till the end of January, so it was delivered almost 13 weeks early. When the doctor delivered the baby, he found that the placenta had been dead for more than a month. In case you all didn’t know, the placenta is what feeds the baby. The doctor said that the baby SHOULD HAVE been stillborn. Said that there is no medical reason why the baby should have been alive. Anyone who would not admit that God was right in the middle of that, to me, is stupid!! The baby was only 2 pounds when it was delivered, but it is very healthy. All organs are fully developed and the baby is breathing on its own, eating, pooping & peeing with no help. The only reason why the little one is still in the hospital is because of its weight. The grandmother says that the doctor’s expect she will be home with her family by Christmas. Talk about a miracle and just in time for Christmas—no less.

OK girls, You all have a happy & blessed day.

My cat would pester me endlessly for food if she slept inside. Fortunately, she always wants to sleep in the garage. The only time I make her sleep in the house is in extremely hot or cold temps. But even then I have tp close her in downstairs, because she’s quite the nag. No matter what time you feed her, the next day, she wants it earlier. Lol she loves to eat! I have learned how to ignore her during the day, but that would be harder if she was in at night.

Starr,
Enjoy your Thanksgiving dinner at your church. I had one a few days ago, but did not attend. Unfortunately, my IBS doesn't seem to like a lot of the Thanksgiving foods.
That sounds like quite a day when you attended the funeral. At least you were able to get a break to take care of the doggies. I see what you mean about the animals and their internal clocks. Last night I fed him at 8:00 and this morning he wanted to eat at 7:15 which is when he usually eats in the morning. I've been trying to get my daughter to do free feed, but she does not want her cat to get fat. He is in perfect shape according to the vet. It can be quite tiring, especially since I had trouble sleeping last night and did not fall asleep until 2 a.m. I am pretty sure the lack of sleep is due to my living circumstances. I just moved into my condo in August. I now have a large crack on my wall. My family thinks it is originating from the roof having a leak. If it is a leak it is covered by homeowners association, but being Winter I do not know how they can take care of it. It obviously has me quite concerned. I will be contacting them shortly to find out what to do.

Starr, that sounds like a very long day. That’s quite a long service too, and all the travel; no wonder everyone was tired. Enjoy your Thanksgiving lunch tomorrow, your cake sounds good. My family always tease me because I try stuff especially new recipes before I bring them to our gatherings.

emoticon you all,

Kay, I am glad that DH’s surgery went well. Hate it that the pain medication didn’t help at all and even made his sick. And then to add insult to injury, your insurance making you pay full price for that 2nd medication. It’s certainly NOT your husband’s fault that he could not handle that 1st medication. I am that way with medication, especially pain medication. All of the opioids make me majorly dizzy & sick to my stomach. I’m very glad that the new medication is helping with the pain and not making him sick.

Carol, we use to also have a dog that was super hyper and active. He was (I should say is as he now lives out in the country with my eldest DD) a Louisiana Catahoula Leopard herding dog. If he is not kept “busy” he will get into “trouble”. But he is very affectionate, gentle & attentive. And VERY protective of his family. I miss having him here at my house, but know that he is much happier living out in the country. I understand what you mean about your cat waking you up before the sun gets up. My cat does the same thing. She starts loudly meowing and jumping on my head about 6:15. She use to not do that till about 7:30…….but her internal “clock” tells her that it is time to eat, no matter what my clock says. LOL.

Pandabear, I hope that you, your precious fur-babies & family will have a wonderful weekend.

Thank you for the condolences for my DD with the loss of her MIL. I know that a lot of people are so busy now days with jobs & such. But her family didn’t even take 30 minutes, or so, to come to visit her every once in awhile…….or even just call her once or twice a week. How much time does it take to pick up the phone, dial a number & talk for 10 minutes? And to you own mother, of all people, you would think that people would care enough to at least call their parents every so often.

The day before yesterday was DD’s MIL’s funeral. It was a long day. The church where the funeral was held made the entire family an early lunch. Then we had the funeral, which was almost 2 hours long. She was buried in a city 45 minutes from where they had her funeral, with her husband who passed away 12 years ago. Then we were at the cemetery for another hour. From the cemetery DD & SIL had to go to another place so I stopped at their house on my way home to let their 3 dogs out to go pee/poop & get some exercise & fresh air. Played with them for a bit before I went home to let my babies out and plop with them for a bit. As soon as I sat down both my doggie fur babies were on my lap, and just a few minutes after that my cat, Tulsa came out of my bedroom and hopped on my shoulder. Tammy seemed to be as exhausted as I was, so we went to bed a lot earlier than usual. She was out like a light within 15 minutes of her head hitting the pillow.

One of the lenses came out of Tammy’s glasses when she hugged someone after the funeral, (I suspect that one of the screws was already loose and that is why the frame came undone so easily) so she & I went to the optometrist to get another screw in her frame & glasses ready to wear again. Also went to the bank to get a cashier’s check for my youngest grandson’s 13th birthday the end of this month. They live in Virginia. I so wish that they lived much closer. In 3 years we have seen them (son & 3 grandson’s) once. That was early this past summer. I also stopped at my cell phone company to get a tiny issue taken care of. I have something (here at home) that I need to get returned to Amazon, but I forgot it when I was out earlier. And UPS is right out there where my cell phone company is. So, I need to get that taken to UPS tomorrow. I hate it when I forget things then have to make a trip to where I was just at that day or the day before.

Tomorrow my church is having Thanksgiving lunch after church. I am taking a cherry dump cake. I just finished cooking it, as I won’t have time to do so tomorrow before church. The last time I made a dump cake, it didn’t turn out so good. But this one smells delectable. After it finished cooking, I took a small sample from a corner. It was YUMMY!

Alright all, I am out of here for today. You all have a blessed weekend.

Today was a much better day for DH, low pain & he got his rest, so he's up and doing more. I think he'll be back on track in no time now.

Gloomy & cloudy day, I think it's supposed to snow a little, but I don't know, it's seems too warm.

PANDABEAR42, your new puppy is adorable. I had a rescued dog years ago. She also had a lot of energy. She was part shepherd and part husky. To cut down on the destructive behavior we exercised her a lot. She loved playing ball, so that what we usually did with her. She ended up being a wonderful dog.

Kaye, sorry to hear about your husband's surgery. I know it must have been a pain picking up the 2nd pain meds, but I get why they do that now with the Opioid crisis.

Morning comes quickly when my daughter's cat wakes me up at 6:30. Every since the time change he has been waking me up early. She is a deeper sleeper, so I guess I am it now for feeding him.

Kay, sorry your hubby was having problems with meds. to bad you had to make a trip to get the prescription and insurance won't pay for the prescription, but it was worth it that you mae the trip so your hubby could have some relief from pain. hopefully Friday will be a good day for you and your hubby.

Sue, surgery went well, but pain meds didn’t. He had a reaction to the one they gave him for home., so he was up all night sick to his stomach and in a lot of pain because it wasn’t helping that. I had to call doctor and make the hour drive back up there, because they can’t call in opioids anymore, Then insurance wouldn’t pay because he had the other one filled yesterday for same reason because it’s an opioid, so we had to pay out of pocket. At least this one is working, so he is able to sleep and pain level is much lower. Quite a day.

Weather here has warmed back up to the 30’s so it’s much better than single digits.

Kay glad to hear your hubby's surgery went well. did he come home or is he in rehab? i can understand your house not being accommodating to walkers. i think there are plenty of houses that way. i honestly think my place isn't either. i ha to think and it would be hard. try and do the best you can and it will work out.
take care of your hubby and yourself.
we have had the cold weather also. Thurs. is to be a little warmer. it is warmer this evening than last night.

Starr, sorry for your DD’s loss, although her MIL had a wonderfully long life, it doesn’t make it any easier, I’m sure.

Sue, she sounds like she’s a quick learner. I’m glad you have her; she sounds so sweet.

It’s finally getting warmer here after starting at 5 degrees this morning; we’ve broken two records with these temps. My hubby had his laser surgery on his torn meniscus in his knee. It went very well, but he’s not going to be mobile for several days. Our house is not very accommodating for people with walkers.

Starr...so sorry for your DD daughters loss. it's hard to loose a loved one no matter what.

it is cold here today, but not as cold as you are. had a light dusting of snow last night and just light flurries off and on. going to be really cold tonight and Wed.

Thank you so much for your kind words on Tawni. she is a very happy little girl and growing fast and gaining weight. oh, she gives me so much joy and laughter already. she already knows sit, down, stay and many other things. she learns quickly. she has me trained on when she needs to go out to potty. she will either look at me or run through the house squeaking a squeaky toy. she is actually starting to lick my hand and arm. if you knew the whole story on Tawni you would really know i was to have her.

stay warm and safe everyone with this weather and if you live in a warm place enjoy your weather.

Good (cold) morning Ladies.

Pandabear, Tawni is so adorable. That is a sad story that she’s had so far. It is a miracle (I think) that she was rescued, both from the mine & the shelter. And it seems that you were meant to save her precious little life. I know that you have your arms full with her, but also know that she is going to make you very happy just like your Aussie does.

The day before yesterday, I was actually wearing a short sleeve shirt & shorts. Because the high temp was 78 degrees. Yesterday & today the high is below freezing. Last night it got down to only 8 degrees. There was freezing drizzle & light snow yesterday. I guess that winter has arrived.

The day before yesterday my eldlest DD’s mother in law passed away. She was 94 years old and had been in bad health for more then 10 years.

I have my piano lesson today, didn’t go last week as I had a migraine.

I hope that you all will have a good & warm day today.

Hugs,
Starr

Kay, Thank you. yes, Tawni keeps me busy as well as my 9 yr. old Aussie. she is a cutie though.

i don't think we will be getting much snow if any. the temps are going to be bitter cold for the next days. the weatherman says there could be some rain turning to ice on the roads in places by morning.

Sue, she's adorable!! That's wonderful that you were able to make a connection to adopt her. Her fur is a beautiful color. She will keep your on your toes, I bet!!

It's snowing here & getting colder! We'll probably have this now & not a flake at Christmas! lol

let me introduce you to my new rescue puppy "Tawni"
i have had her for 4 and 1/2 weeks now. she is 4 and 1/2 months old and scheduled to be spayed before Thanksgiving.

this is Tawni the evening we got home with her and she is on the porch.

this is Tawni and Panda my 9 year old Aussie on the porch after being introduced. (they are best friends)

Panda and Tawni sleeping together
Tawni's history is; she was abandoned in a mine in Kentucky, then taken to a shelter the kills them after a certain length of time if not adopted. i'm sure there are people canvasing these places for adoptable fur babies. Tawni and her 43 bothers were rescued and then flown to Pittsburgh Pa. then the 4 of them were give to a foster parent and she had them for 9 days and then i was a lucky one to be chosen to adopt her.
she is shy and needing lots or reassuring that she is ok. she spokes at everything even things on TV. i just reassure her and she settles down. this morning she showed me she knows how to sit. have been working on this and she will do things at her time.
what is going through my mind is if you saw the movie or read the book Marley and me. well, i think i have a Marley on my hands. she has so much energy and hard to wear down, into everything and chewing on everything and swollowing everything before i can get it out of her mouth. she is supposed to be Australian Shepherd and Lab mix.

this is her coloring of her fur and her fur is changing. this pic was taken probably 2-3 weeks ago.

That’s going to be a shock to the people down there. We’ve had a few cold days, but none as cold as these. Now they’ saying highs in the 20’s, now that’s way too cold for November. Fortunately, it’s only supposed to last a week.

Still tired today, but it was sunny even though it’s still very cool, so I decided to finish cleaning off flower beds. Next week it’s supposed to be worse with highs only in low 30’s. Brrr, that’s more like December weather for us.

Kay - you're right poor kitty! I had to laugh, though, with all these big guys that run for a living and a cat outdid them. Glad your supper went so well.

Starr, you’re a very busy woman! I saw that cat video, and I felt sorry for it, running like crazy and the closeup showed it was panting. Your daughter ‘s tongue incident sounds very painful. I can’t stand a little sore or anything on my tongue. Hope she feels better soon. Your food sounds yummy for both dinners.

We had a great turnout for our turkey supper, weather cooperated and things went well. The only thing we ran out of was stuffing. I am bone tired, but in a good way.

Well, yesterday’s humidity was at 97%. No wonder I was in extra pain & had a migraine. I ran into 3 other people yesterday who also had a migraine. And I’d had a migraine the day before as well.

I had to take my youngest DD to Urgent Care yesterday. The night before, at her monthly Dinner Club, she bit her tongue while she was eating. She actually BIT the end of it OFF. There are teeth marks on it!! Although it didn’t bleed at all, she said that it hurt. So off to Urgent Care we went, the next day, to the 1st appointment that they had…..which was at 8 AM. The doctor said that people biting a piece of their tongue off is actually more common then what a person might think. I guess that Urgent care is similar to the ER, where you see a lot more then what is in a normal doctor’s office. Anyway, the doctor gave us a script for an antibiotic and a mouthwash which has Lidocain (not the correct spelling-but it is a pain killer) in it. Evidently the mouthwash’s pain killer is very effective, as she said that the pain was gone right after she spit the mouthwash out. She stayed pain free for almost 3 hours. She can get it every 3 to 4 hours, so it lasted just long enough to get the next dose. By bedtime last night she said that it was not hurting at all, even though it was time for another dose. But the doctor said that she needed to take it every 3 to 4 waking hours because it promotes healing. She does not understand swishing & spitting out. So when I put the medicine in her mouth I tell her to NOT swallow it, and remind her, as she is swishing, to not swallow it….then to spit it out like she does her toothpaste. With reminders, she does well. So, that was all the drama that I needed for the day.

We had very heavy rain & lightening storms last night. While I was watching TV the electricity flickered, which made the TV go off. When the electricity goes off like that, it takes the cable companies equipment 10 or so minutes to get booted back up. Well, it was almost finished booting up when the electricity flickered again. So again the cable box went off and rebooted itself……another 10 minutes to wait. The TV had just come back on—after 20 minutes of waiting, and the electricity flickered again. Off the TV went and the cable box began to boot up. So I said the heck with it and went to bed. I read on my cell phone for about an hour before finally getting sleepy.

Yesterday I got my fixings for Thanksgiving dinner for, both, church and at my DD’s home. For the Thanksgiving banquet at church I am taking a cherry dump cake. For dinner at DD’s I am taking a sweet potato casserole & my mom’s recipe of Sunshine Salad. It is made with cottage cheese, cool whip, nuts, pineapple, marshmallows and dry orange jello. Evidently it is well liked, as I often get requests to bring it to dinners.

I don’t know what the deal is, but the past 2 nights I have been waking up between 12 & 12:30 AM. And not been able to get back to sleep; getting only 2 or so hours of sleep a night. So instead of being up for 12 to 14 hours, I am up for roughly 22 hours a day with only a couple hours of sleep. So by noon I am completely exhausted and very sleepy. I wonder if it has anything to do with the time change---but since our time has been altered only by 1 hour, I don’t understand why it is having me wake up at midnight when I go to bed at my normal time.

Have any of you seen the video of the black cat on the football field in the middle of the game? I bet that poor thing was scared, with all those people screaming & making loud noise, and all the football players running around; that poor baby. I bet that once he got off the field he thought to himself, boy I am never going to go there again!! I have not personally seen it, but someone told me that she’d seen the video on a few different sources.

I love the team page picture of the dog & cat dressed in Thanksgiving apparel. SO cute. emoticon emoticon emoticon

My pastor called everyone, by a group message, to say that there would be no Wednesday night service; because of the heavy rain-lightening-thunder storms. Which was fine with me, as I had a migraine anyway.

Kay, I can associate you thinking that you'll probably kill the plant that you got at the shower. I am the same way with plants. The only two house plants that I've managed to not kill is the two plants that I got from my DH's funeral. One is a peace lily, the other one looks like the peace lily, but it does not have flowers, just green leaves. Have had both for 5.5 years, and they seem to be thriving. I have had other plants since my husband's funeral, but all of them had died.

Had a good time at the baby shower; won a plant that I will probably kill. I’m not too good with indoor plants; going to have to look it up first, not quite sure what it is. Lol

Relaxing today, it’s going to be a busy week with church turkey supper and pie making.

Starr,
The Halloween at the zoo does sound rather frustrating. Where I live there are not trick or treaters. I do miss that. It was nice to see the grandchildren even though my grandson was not dressed up. My granddaughter was Rebel from Paw Patrol and my grand son was a snail which was perfect since he is crawling. I didn't see him in his costume since it did not work with the car seat. I did see pictures of them though. It was cute.
It must be rather frustrating with the piano lessons. Perhaps you can talk to the teacher and ask her to slow down. Explain to her you are having trouble keeping up with all the information. She should adapt to your way of learning. If not, maybe you'll need to find a teacher that is better for you.

I am watching the little dog again. He is a pretty good dog except he woke me up at 1:30 a.m. to go outside. At least he does not do it every night.

I think I am going to lay back down for a bit. I am totally not awake yet. I am recovering from a nasty sinus infection and still am not back to normal yet. I had to go through two rounds of antibiotics. Luckily, I finally improved.

Krys, Yes, a couple of them have trunk or treat here too.

Went to baby shower for my niece in law today, supposed to be a Christmas or New Year baby. It’ll be exciting to have a baby around at holidays again.

Kay - there weren't very many kids out last night that I could see through my window. So many churches have an event and it is safer than wondering the streets.

Starr - I imagine a lot of the piano students are young people?

Starr, that’s hard work on piano lessons, so I admire your effort. Not sure that I could do it at my age. The zoo in our nearby city does that too, last time we did that was about 27 odd years ago with our son. It was crowded even then. That’s too bad about your town not having a Silver Sneakers choice. We have two fitness centers run by hospital nearby and the YWCA about 20 miles away, and we are very rural.

Hope you all have a great weekend!
