On Oprah's tv station OWN, she is going to have a program about 'food addictions'. It should be interesting and enlightning.

I woke up from a beautiful dream and found out I was NOT Oprah!! I had to clean (no maid) AND cook (no chef)!!! Life can be a bummer!! LOL I think they call it exercise!!!

Hello Jendana, the first thing I wanted to say is Happy Birthday.
One of the truths I try to remind myself as I step forward on my road to a healthier fitter me is that it did not happen over night getting to the place where I am now and it will not happen over night to loose the weight I need to shed for health.
Your journey is also a process and in the days to come ,not only will you learn more about how to eat healthier, but you will also learn about yourself .
I t is said that it takes 21 days to change a habit and many of the ways we have learned to eat are habits.
For myself I tend to turn to food when I am sad, frustrated or bored. My biggest enemy is allowing myself to put in the cart foods I know I will have trouble with .
I have learned that if I do not make provision for my flesh I will not eat the "No, No Foods," as I call them.
I also know that with time you will see the changes you long to see. Always remember, it is one day at a time.
Relisa

I shall take this mountain

There is a gal on the 300+ team, Indygirl. She has a saying that totally changed my thinking about the "all or nothing" attitude you describe. And believe me, I've been there, done that...numerous times!! She says, ""If you got a traffic ticket would you break every traffic law the rest of the day? Then why toss the whole day over a slice of pizza?"

It's basically, one day, one meal, even one bite at a time. Don't beat yourself up and don't let one little moment of being human overwhelm you and allow you to get so completely off track that it seems impossible to find your way again. Remember that the next meal, next day, is new and a chance for you to redeem yourself TO yourself.

You can do it!!

Grace and Peace,
Lisa

Jen, I agree with Christiana and Cam, one day at a time and get right back on the road again. I remind myself of the times that I quit and a month or two later, after I've gained back my weight, I look back and wish I had stuck with it because instead of having to do it all over again I would be down a bit more rather than at the starting place all over again. Also remember you are making life changes, and one meal or even one day of eating something that isn't in the plan isn't that much compared to a lifetime of healthy eating. There are going to be those days - count on it - get up and get going again. One thing I love about SP, is that they encourage you to not cut out the things that you enjoy eating, but to enjoy them in moderation. Don't make changing your lifestyle a drudge, you'll quit for sure, find a way to make it a joy.

Christina was right on in talking about planning ahead, it helps immensely! Track your food - when you know you have to put it in the tracker, it sometimes deters you from eating or encourages you to take a smaller portion - at least it did for me!

You can do this! Just yesterday I said, "Well, I've blown it this much, I might as well blow it the rest of the way!" and my wonderful hubby said, "NO!" So I chose a healthy snack. He was right, One indulgance is easier to come back from than blowing a whole day!

We love ya and are here for you - thanks for coming to us for help! Kim

God bless, Kim

There is nothing more important in your life than your relationship with Christ.

Something is wrong when focus is, "how sin does not separate us from God," rather than, "how God separates us from sin."

Live today with all you've got for Jesus. Never give in and Never give up.

I know how you feel, been there done that. I agree get back on track as soon as possible. You also may find out you didn't gain anything for going off track, you may not have lost, but in losing weight it's a positive to not gain weight. That's the only way I have made it this far, is to not let myself get down about not losing, I tell myself I didn't gain which is a plus. This last week has been an off week for me also, I just don't feel like eating the right things. But I'm starting right again today. I also believe at our age, it's so much harder to lose, hang in there you can do it.

Matthew 6:34 Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about its own things. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble. (One Day at a Time)

"If U can't fly then run, if U can't run then walk, if U can't walk then crawl, but whatever U do U have 2 keep moving forward." And remember "Pain is temporary. Quitting lasts forever."

Hello Jendana,

I completely understand how you feel. For me, I know that when I messed up there was something in me that said, 'oh well, you might as well eat some more and start this weight loss journey over again next week.'

My advice is to restart right away. Don't plan to have a good week, plan to have a good day. Plan your meals in advance. Know what your eating for the day. I find that my eyes wonder onto things that I should not be eating when I'm hungry and have no idea what to eat.

If you know what your going to eat in advance, you can make sure that it is ready before you get too hungry. Plan your snacks too. So that when the munchies hit, your ready!!!

You can do it! It took me a while to break the cycle, but you I know you can do it too!

God bless,

"I can do ALL things through Christ which strengthens me!" Phil 4:13

Christina
