If I've been exercising anything lately it's been my mind...LOL, I've been thinking a lot about what I need to do in the last quarter of this year. As I review my strengths and weaknesses I know that strength training and my post run/walk stretching and deep massage need to be in my goal list. Yesterday I ran the workout generator and chose the standing full body workout without equipment as a starting point...chosen because I should be able to do it while on vacation coming up soon. Well, it's a start anyway and I'm still thinking about the rest of these goals.

I feel a bit as though I've been coasting. I'm highly motivated and in some ways more active than ever but I think I need to find a new challenge. I'm going to use this month to think about this and set something that will really be riveting for my in the last quarter of this year.

Well, here we are, ready to start another August. When you came here 3 years ago, could you imagine what these years would bring? Did you meet any or all of your goals? Or...did your goals evolve into perhaps more appropriate goals or goals now more suited to the new you? I bet, as the old television show said....there are a million stories here. Or at least over 20,000 LOL.

When I started SP, I wanted to stop the regaining of wt that I was doing after successfully losing on WW but obviously I hadn't learned to live differently as related to my relationship with food and exercise. Of course I didn't just want to stop the gaining, I wanted to lose. As I started to lose here, I learned that what I really needed to lose was some negative thought patterns and some unhealthy habits in my eating. So the goals shifted toward becoming healthier in my body and mind. I've done well...still have work to do of course, I'm a work in progress after all. So I've been maintaining my wt. loss and I've maintained a level of fitness I didn't have before. I am still trying to lose a little bit more and that is happening ever so slowly which is fine because my goals aren't first and foremost about wt. The reason I'm still here is that I have discovered that my healthy mindset needs a daily boost and Sparkpeople provides that.

Spark on friends!

I am sorry team, that this team has been more of a what would you say, clearing house? holding zone? At any rate after the initial start of this team, and it had and still has a very large number of members, most of us are settled into different teams where we spend more of our time and of course in some cases, maybe our success stories have even become less sparky once they met their goals. I check in intermittently and see that a lot of us are still here though, huddling, writing blogs, and being active on our other teams.

Why am I thinking about all this? Well, I looked at the calendar and see that we're a month away from the week when this team was initiated. That has me thinking about how everyone is doing...what we've been doing etc. I hope more of us will check in soon to leave an update. If you do, why not share what team or teams have become your go to teams for ongoing inspiration?

For me, lately I have been getting my biggest boost from my fitbit and the friends I have been "competing and encouraging" with. I also have a regional team that I am active with every day...it's been so good to have a team that has a lot of the common issues like the same weather that hinders us at times like our current heat and humidity. Since that group is regional, some of us have also been able to get together which has been a special bond.

Well, team, as always, I wish you well. Spark On!

Summer so far is a mix of motivation both good and bad....the heat and humidity are working to try to hold me back...I am motivated to get out and run but it is harder. Setting an alarm clock in order to run in slightly cooler temps? seems like not such a great idea! LOL On the other hand the same weather is helping me to choose foods that are fresh and naturally low calorie. Hope you all are finding ways to maximize the positives this summer!

Loving the fitbit! I am pushing myself to get more steps, it's always there reminding me of what I need/want to do. Great tool hope you've found what works for you too.

Well, yesterday my fitbit flex arrived and it was easy to set up though I discovered that my stride is longer than what it had estimated at first so my first walk with it didn't correlate...it did correct as soon as I put in the actual stride length number. Today I have a run scheduled and we'll see how it correlates for that.

That is fantastic! You are still working at project you with the challenges of moving and not being able to use this site as a crutch LOL so Yay you times two!

I really think the scale is over rated. You know that how we feel and that tape measure are far better gauges of our success. So, although it would be nice if we could connect more often, just knowing you're doing so well is really something we need to celebrate. emoticon

I know it's been a while since I've been on.. I just wanted to tell you that I've moved and I don't have internet access except on the rare occasion I can get to the library and get on a computer. I've stalled for a year but managed not to gain any weight.. sometimes just maintaining is a blessing.

I've gotten a new job and with it I've joined a gym and started up again. I've doing well but haven't really weighed myself to see how I'm doing. I'm feeling a lot better and that at the moment is enough for me. I have my boyfriend's mom as my partner in crime. She measures me monthly.. I've lost an inch off my belly! Yay me! So, I hope you are all doing well and I want you to know that I miss you guys!

I've signed up for a 5k and training to do that.. I'm still plugging away!

Looks like it's almost 2 weeks since I stopped in here and my news isn't great since I am having some knee pain which has once again side lined me from my running. Well, a good reminder I guess that the stretching, foam rolling and paying attention to ALL the details cannot be allowed to be MIA. This too shall pass and I will...hopefully...be running smarter. LOL

Plodding along with no change....well guess that's the way it should be in maintenance but that wish to lose just a tish more is always there....but...the real goal is health and fitness and that is my status quo. How bout the rest of you? Are you heading in the direction you desire?

Had to abandon my streak since my shoulder is/was hurting even when I turn a doorknob. Ok, sometimes we need to find another way.

Well, my adjustment in my streak is going ok, shoulder is still giving me some complaints but is not getting worse and on the days that I do the other shoulder work, it is great so it's about giving some time to the inflamed area isn't it?

Stay strong friends!

Stopping by today partly becuse I decided I had set a dumb goal for a streak and today I changed it...it reminded me that when we're here over time, we will often make and remake many goals...sometimes because we made a mistake in the goal setting process and sometimes because we ace one goal and it's time to move on.

I hope that many of you are still looking at this process and adjusting for your success.

Life is an ongoing thing...we can make our future one day at a time!

Here I am again stopping by to see if anyone else is checking in....I know that you're still out there and plugging away with your goals....Winter continues to drag on around here....it's depressing, whenever I start to feel as though the end is in sight, it snows again and worse the temp drops. LOL Thank goodness for the various different indoor exercise options I have but it's tiresome....Spring, please come NOW!!! LOL

Ooops....it's been awhile since I've stopped by this team....sorry bout that. It hasn't been that I've been inactive in general on sparkpeople. I decided to purchase a years worth of spark coach to help boost myself off a long plateau...now, I'm basically in maintenance but would like to lose a bit more so I guess in many ways my efforts haven't been 100% on the loss side since I'm holding at a pretty good weight. Anyway, the first bit of time on the coach, I actually got the scale to inch down a bit...now I'm following the keeping motivated program and that along with other teams and life in general, has kept me pretty busy. I won't get to my ultimate desired wt in this next week (March 10 was my goal date) but when that date comes around I'll just reset my goal and keep at it. LOL

How's everyone else doing? Spring will be here soon so let's make sure we're ready for it!!

This month is fast coming to a close and it seems winter will not give up it's hold on us....makes it so hard to continue to stay positive but we must! I keep telling myself that March will come with the opportunity to get more time outdoors and soon I will be able to run again.

Last day of January. How have I done? Actually lost a little wt...not much but that's ok, it's a loss. Really drinking a lot of water...more than I had been and it's pretty habitual. Eating my rainbow without fail and that and my better protein intake have helped me to have better nails...something I have never had my whole life. Hey, not a bad month!

Now,only 48 days till the official first day of spring. A good chunk of time to accomplish some great goals. Let's Go!

Well, I can't remember if I told you here, but I actually went ahead and bought the sparkcoach and am following the plateau buster program. I decided to give it more of a push to lose ten more pounds and whoopie! I can report that I actually have broken the plateau and have logged a tiny loss for two weeks in a row. so now I have only 8 more pounds to lose to meet my ultimate goal. I'm thinking this is really going to happen! LOL

Hope you all are having things to say woohoo about.

The thing I like about your post aside from the well wishes....thank you for that....

But, after reading what you said about the spread the spark button on the sparkpoints page, I had to go check it out to see what it did for me....when I clicked on it, it took me to my fitness page and I think had I had any fitness tracked for today yet, I would have had the little banner on the side to share it on facebook or twitter or pinterest or whatever....when there is an article or blog that you like that's the thing I see and you can then click on the little thing for facebook which will then give you a pop up to sign in and share that you like the article....so I think you've been doing it right already. Of course the other aspect of spreading the spark is to get friends or family to join like you have with your sister.

I enjoyed your story....I was on WW with success and like you when at goal had lost the interest and slid right back into old habits. The thing about maintenance, I think it is harder if the way that we lost the weight is more "diet like" in the first place. Here the whole philosophy is to learn lifelong healthy habits and relationships with food so by the time we get to goal, we know how to do what we do.

BTW...I am happy to hear about your survival after breast cancer....puts life, food and fitness into perspective doesn't it?

Dear DD,
I do hope you are feeling better now because you stated that your bad cold of New Years is history. I don't know how, but I only saw your message of Dec. 28th now. I didn't look below that one but was seeing that one for the first time.
My Sister is enjoying being a part of SP too. She is working at generating motivation. I think it is beginning to happen.
I never had a weght problem until I was in my early 40s and had a hysterectomy. The weight hadn't went up too much but as time goes on and I wasn't doing anything to correct it, more weight came. The first time it was 19 pounds I wanted to lose, and actually that is exactly the weight I am at now of 115. I lost that weight with Form You 3, and through that whole period of losing the weight I was highly motivated. I exercised every day, and stuck with following their plan. Once I reached my goal I seemed to lose all my enthusiasm. I began putting the weight back on, lost interest in their program and eventually dropped my membership. I also did little if any of exercise after that. I was in TOPS 4 years & 4 months and I enjoyed the company of the people in it but really never got enthusuiastic about the program but had myself involved as the leader in our group after 9 months of being with the program. In November of that year 2008, I found out I had breast cancer, and that definitely changed things. I started off at 146 pounds when I joined TOPS, and when I left the group in Nov. 2011, I was 141 pounds. Just before I found out I had breast cancer, I was at 129.75 pounds, the lowest I reached in that program. I was already in the program 1 year 5 months then. With SP, I began this journey with 146 pounds, and with the help of GLITTERGIRL, who is the Leader from I Can't Do This On My Own, on February 4th of this year I began my journey again. I was enthusiastic from the start. She taught me on that day how to use the nutrition tracker (which I really like), and over a period of time taught me how to use a number of things on SP. I reached my goal of 119 pounds on October 23rd. Since that time I've lost 4 more pounds and actually would like to keep it at that. I was warned by people in TOPS and people on SP, that maintenance can be hard. I have not found it difficult. I will be entering my 12th week of being at goal this coming Tuesday. I think SP is the most wonderful program.
Dee, I have tried to "Spread the Spark", and every time I click on it with the spark points to see where it will take me, it doesn't tell me what to do. I want to shout out to everyone spreading the spark, as I have every good reason. SP, with it's many Leaders like you are what lead me to victory. I want to be able to let people know. I boast on FB how wonderful SP has been for me, because it has.
I hope you have a great weekend DD, and I hope your New Year is filled with God's many blessings.

Glad that you were able to have such a nice holiday and it sounds like you and your sister are using technology to it's best advantage!

I think maintenance would be harder than dieting...but what we've done here with sparkpeople is not a diet...it's a liveit! By learning how to eat and lead a fit life, tracking so we are aware of what we are doing....in maintenance we are just continuing to follow what has become habit.

And then of course we have all these friends with whom we share this lifestyle...well it's just self perpetuating!

I must say I had a wonderful & blessed Christmas Dee, and hope you and others on this team who celebrate Christmas had a wonderful day with family. Our family is small, and I only have one sibling, my Sister who lives in Texas. We are very close. We try to meet twice a week on our computers via webcam ( She's getting involved on SP as well). We also try to visit each other once a year.
My DH & I went to visit with one of his Sister's who lives near us to bring a gift and visit awhile.
The morning started off special with 8:00am Mass. I was honored to be the Lector yesterday.
I did not calculate my calories yesterday. I don't, for special days or special events we attend. I splurged! I'm back on track today. I just completed my 9th week of maintenance. I've been saying starting when I actually completed my 9th week. I'm so grateful for SP, and people like you who are a big support system. I still say if it had not been for a Team Leader who taught me on February 4th, 2012, on how to use the nutrition tracker and other tools on SP, I would not have lost these 30 pounds ( I've actually dropped 3 pounds below what I chose for my goal weight, and now that is truely where I'd like to keep it). Shelly spent alot of time with me. Spark People is the best Program I've ever done for losing weight. Maintenance has been easy for me so far. I was warned long ago, even when I was doing the TOPS program that maintenance was harder to do than dieting; I disagree. Using the nutrition tracker is a magnificent tool!
One of my main goals for 2013 is to work at being focused & organized. That is going to be very big for me.
I hope everything about your Christmas and New years is all you hoped it would be.
emoticon to you Dee, & to all, Janis emoticon

Did you all have a good month? If you celebrate Christmas, I hope it was a fine chance to be with those you love and/or to cherish the memories f those you can not be with.

Now we have the new year to think about. What will you be looking to accomplish this year? How will you make that happen?

Thanks, Janis! I appreciate your kind words and support. Sadly, now I am having major problems with my feet, and haven't been able to do my Outdoor Fitness, which I LOVE and MISS!!

Yes, DD, I agree with the planning aspect. I always bring yogurt (just recently discovered and fell in love with Greek yogurt) and fresh fruit to work, and have peanut butter, raisins and rice cakes in my office. I do my best to plan what I will have for lunch and dinner. No more "grazing"!!

Merry Christmas...Happy Holidays to all.

Well, we're all in the ame boat really...I have found that the biggst key is to plan..if I don't I slide so cookng with a mind toward having some quick and easy lefovers so I can grab some protein when I need it...you knowwhen I cook chicken breasts or fish filets, make extra hen I ca throw together a fish taco or something when I' to tired to even think about what I should eat.

Maintenance is a challenge but hey, we're up to it!!

Congratulations on your weight loss, DD! Any weight loss is better than none, when that is what you are striving for.

Like you MAREANNIE, I'm in to my 7th week of maintenance. This is all new to me. When I did a diet back in the 90s, I quit exercising and did not maintain my weight, and day by day I lost interest in trying. It sure didn't take long to accumulatethe pounds.
Spark People has taught me many wonderful things. So far, I'm not finding maintenance difficult. I hope to continue enjoying this new found journey. I wish you much success in your continued journey, MAREANNIE! emoticon

Maintenance is tough!! For the most part I am staying on track...visiting SparkPeople as often as possible, weighing myself daily, logging my nutrition and fitness and making good food choices. For the past few weeks I have been working late, which means I get home late, start cooking and eat a late dinner; by the time I have dinner I am super hungry and tired and sometimes don't make good portion choices. That is to say...I eat healthful, fresh food but too much of it!! I try and remember to have a non-fat yogurt or fruit late in the afternoon.

Congrats on your 0.2 loss!! Heck, yeah!! It IS a loss! emoticon

A chilly morning here today and yesterday it was warm enough to grill our lunch! Oh well, the bright side is that it takes more calories burnt just to stay warm! LOL

Hi friends, not a hunter here! And yes, you're right I live in Northern Wisconsin. It's gotten very cold around here but I have kind of gotten past my reluctance to get out there in the cold...LOL

Hope you all are well and ready to work our way toward the next year.

I do hope you are having a great week DD. I want to think in another post you mentioned deer hunting season. It started here last Thursday. I'm thinking you're in the State of Wisconsin.
I do hope you have a Blessed & Happy Thanksgiving! emoticon Janis

P.S. It certainly isn't safe to walk during hunting season. emoticon Some hunters are likely to shoot at just about anything that moves! emoticon We're the ones that have to keep our eyes wide open.

Thanks Janis, I love your love of fitness and healthy eating...it's amazing how our whole outlook changes isn't it?

Well, it's hunting season here so I won't be doing any walks in the woods for at least a couple of weeks, I wear blaze orange even when I walk on the roads around here at this time of year...a good idea. I don't move like a deer but you never can be too careful! LOL

My Husband & I live out in the country, and actually live on the road where he grew up. It was a lovely place to walk. The last time I did my daily walking outside was when I was on a weight loss plan back in 1997 & '98. After that, the road got to be busier, and my walks were interrupted by too many people. After I reached my goal with "Form You 3", I started slacking in my healthy eating habits and my walking. I gradually put the weight back on. I would think after a couple of regained pounds, "This will be easy enough to lose." As time went on and I was not motivated at all, I had regained the weight back plus some.
I first heard about Spark People in August of 2010. I remember sometime after that you & I had posted to each other a couple of times. I did not know how to use the SP website that well back then. I had not had my computer for a year when I learned of SP. I was not motivated, but now I am. A Team Leader taught me how to use the Nutrition Tracker on February 4th of this year, and my motivation has been with me ever since. I've lost 28 pounds, and I feel so good. I want to continue to be feeling this way so for me , I have good daily habits. I don't like to take any time off from them. It's rare that I do take a day off from exercise unless I'm not feeling well, on vacation or have company. Those are times that exercise doesn't work well.
I really loved walking outside but now with too many coyotes in the area, I have a healthy fear of them! emoticon I think that's a healthy fear. emoticon I certainly know I wouldn't want to face one or have one behind me while I'm walking. I love Leslie Sansone walkaerobics. I have an abundance of her on VHS & on DVDs. I also use my stationary bike. I love exercise, and believe me this feeling is stronger than ever in my life. You are so right about deer are not threatening.
I wish you continued peaceful, serene & fun walks.
emoticon Janis

I was thinking about you on our walk the other day when we encountered a deer...she seemed to be very fcinated with our walking by and maybe since she hasn't been through a hunting season yet in her life, she wondered about my blaze orange jacket...LOL But an encounter with wildlife that isn't at all threatening. Hope you're well and being able to get the exercise inside while the weather and the wildlife aren't so hot.

Back in 1997 & '98,DD, I use to walk a mile and a half, I believe at least 3 or more days a week. I love being out in the fresh air, talking to God and feeling energized at the same time. I no longer feel safe doing that because of many coyotes in our area. I walked freely back in the 90s and I did it so also in the 80s. I'm intimidated by these animals now as their are many of them. Of course now with hunting season their are too many of them too! emoticon

I'm very serious about staying healthy and keeping with my newly attained goal. I do enjoy my walkaerobics and getting on my stationary bike, but there is nothing like feeing the beauty of God's makings, out in the country's fresh air. I feel so blest to have this connection with Spark People.
Happy walking to you, DD! emoticon Janis

You have found the magic key...constantly looking for some new tastes and experiences to keep on track. I know a lot of people who like the Leslie Sansone DVD's, I've never tried them but I find I do best if I get outside no matter what the weather it does my mood the most good!

"DD" It's not that I've made any new goals. I do look for new ideas on food a different walkaerobics video. This is how I got to my goal. Leslie Sansone is my favorite for exercise. She makes it fun and it's easy to follow her.
Thank you for all your encouragement!
