i try to stay balanced, and my strength/aerobic conditioning is well balanced because I often do them together. Lately, I've been lacking in the flexibility, i used to do a lot of yoga, I should work on getting back on that again.

I need more aerobic. I do cardio the most and then strength.

Cardio's easy for me, but I need to focus on increase strength training, as well as flexibility.

I would say that I balance out strength, flexibility, and aerobics pretty well. My martial arts training definitely aids in the balance aspect of fitness. When I go to the gym, I usually do 30-45 minutes of cardio using the heavy (punching) bags to to punching and kicking drills, which is both anaerobic and great balance work. I then go upstairs to the cardio room and walk/jog 1 mile on the treadmill, then another mile on the track, and finish off with 5 miles on the stationary bike, and if I still have energy, I go a couple on the eliptical. And I also usually do 45-60 minutes of weight training at the YMCA at some point during my day. I take 2 rest days a week from weight training, but try to do cardio everyday.

I lean toward the aerobic side. I need to work on strength training.

I lean towards aerobic. I use the gazelle mostly and try to use my body weight for resistance which adds some strength training. Flexibility is not even on my radar.

Physical fitness has three components, like three sides of a triangle: strength, flexibility and aerobic conditioning. How are you doing at balancing all three? Do you lean more towards one factor than the others? Do you have a "favorite" side of the triangle? What do you need more of to become more balanced?

OK, that's four questions. Gives us something to think about.

Allie

Namaste!
