I've been watching mostly on this team (and others) and trying to figure out where to be able to participate consistently regarding the main issues of emotional eating and our lives, which are so connected. Personally, I think it is a mistake to have so many members start new threads all the time, esp. when they have comments that are quite appropriate for general discussion. I think it would create more solidarity around the reasons we are here. So many new threads end up disappearing and the group involves dissipates to some degree.

I'm sorry if I seem out of line for saying this. I do see that many members welcome newcomers, so I know they are out there, but it seems like hit or miss to actually be able to communicate with those others consistently. If I am wrong and there is a thread where that is happening more, please guide me to it.

After I said all that, I am going to start a thread inviting those who feel they are being successful for a period of time to post on what they are doing and what they think helps them to stay free or relatively free from emotional eating. I know I was and am inspired on another team by a thread on which just a few people were successful and shared often. The emotional eating issue is so crucial that I would like to see something like that here.

Once again, hope I'm not stepping on toes. If I'm out of line, or just in the dark, I think I can take it. emoticon

Gail, I'm still here, just been "hiding". I finally went to the doctor and he couldn't believe how much wt I've gained. Yes, GAINED. They took a blood test so I'll get results next week. He might think its the depression again; I say hypthyroid - I have some of the symptoms. Getting bored with the exercises; eating ok. Went for a bike ride and knees were killing me. When I got off the bike, my legs were wobbling like JELL-O! I hope everyone is doing fine. Supposed to be nice the rest of the week. Maybe I'll get my you-know-what outside & start walking.

Good Morning:

Hope some of you are out there. It's been soo quiet here. Now that Naomi's computer is on the fritz it seems it's just Nancy and I. I've been wondering if we should continue this thread. I'm not even a team leader.

Good Evening:

I'm reading another Martha Grimes book, THE ANODYNE NECKLACE. Not bad. I discovered her by accident and it took, so now I"m reading her books in the order of publication. They are a series and it's best to read them in order to see the development of the characters that show up again and again.

Hope all is well with all of you. Nan, Naomi and everyone else, I miss you.

Good Afternoon:

I took Vic in for his chemo today and then made a brief stop to the supermarket. Now that summer is here and the garden is producing I'm spending less at the grocery....much less.

It's gray here today and perhaps that's the reason I'm so tired. I took a long nap earlier because I was falling asleep reading. Do you ever get very tired or have a day when you "can't seem to get with the program?"

Hope you are all staying cool and hydrated.

Gail

Nancy: Sounds like you've got a boatload of company. How much fun it will be spending time surrounded by so many loving relatives.

Hi!! We have been busy trying to get things ready for our nephew's visit. Tim and his wife will be in KY for a week. They are staying with her family, but we will be seeing them off and on. He is going with David to pick out a stone for David's mom/stepdad's grave. So we went out to the cemetery to see what they allowed. While we were there, we visited our BIL's grave...he is in the mausoleum. David 's mom had all theirs pre-paid and pre-arranged. It was such a blessing at a difficult time. We are planning to do the same thing so that Bill doesn't have to make those difficult decisions. Monday we have an appointment to get our place in the mausoleum there. Later we will see about the rest of the arrangements.

Tuesday we are going to GA for a few days. We will be having dinner with our dinner group Wednesday night. We are also going to close out our old checking account there. We don't put anything in it now.

Just found out another nephew and his new wife and stepson will be in town the 16th for one night. We will be meeting her and Ezra for the first time...mom met her at Christmas. We are all getting together for dinner. Chris is a helicopter pilot in the Marines and is stationed in NC. We haven't seen in several years, so we are looking forward to seeing him.

Hope everyone is having a good weekend and a good start to the new week.

Nancy

Good Afternoon:

Taking a friend to dinner at her favorite restaurant this evening and am looking forward to it.

I'm really up tight and I know I shouldn't be but.... A couple of weeks ago I felt something scratching my finger only to realize I had lost the baguette in my ring. I immediately called the insurance company and, at their advice, went to a local jeweler to have him fax over the particulars. Well, a couple of weeks went by and I heard nothing from the jeweler so I called on Thursday. Actually, I called three times before I got to speak to him. He made some lame excuse and said he'd fax me what he would fax to the insurance company by the end of business Thursday. Well, by Friday noon I still hadn't heard so I emailed the store and told them I would have another store replace it. This really got my nerves on edge. I just called another store and made arrangements to bring the ring in tomorrow. I hope this is the last of the aggravation. I'm really bummed out on the loss of the stone, even though the ring is fully insured.

Hope you all enjoy the weekend.

I know what you mean. We moved away from KY in 1978 and missed out on a lot of the family gatherings. Weddings and funerals were when we would all be together. It was really bad when we lived in Texas. I think that's why I am enjoying these times so much.

Nancy: So good to see you post. Good luck with the office. I'm confident in the end it will be just right. Things will work out.

Nice to have Mom and Sister for dinner. Treasure these times and let them be the basis of wonderful future memories. Since I married I have lived in Wisconsin, while the rest of my family was on the east coast. We rarely all got together....usually for a funeral or wedding.

Sorry I have been on lately. Things have been busy lately. We have been trying to organize our home office. It was in great shape before the move, but now we have less space and it is taking some organizing. It is coming along, but i think it is going to take awhile.

Saturday night we had mom and my sister for dinner. We called them to see what they were doing and both had been busy. They appreciated the invite because neither felt like cooking. We had a good time. Sunday we went to my niece's house. We ordered pizza and we all brought side dishes...they asked me to bring the salad this time. We try to get together as a family at least once a month and sometimes even twice. I think it really keeps us connected.

Our grandsons will be spending a weekend with us later this month. Bill can't make our great niece's 3rd birthday party and so he and his ex are letting us come get them and bring them here. David and I are really looking forward to that. We still have a great relationship with her and her parents. It really allows us to all be together for the boys.

I'm actually doing better with my weight. I've a few pounds and I can tell the difference. I'm probably still not getting as much exercise as I should but I know I am eating better. I usually do better in the summer and I think it's because of the great produce you get at this time. David is talking about putting a small garden in next year.

Hope everyone is having a good start to the new month.

Good Morning:

The cilantro (coriander) was all sold out at the farmers' market and there was precious little to begin with. Have any of you grown cilantro? Any tips for success?

I picked a bit at the garden yesterday and saw that someone had taken some tomatoes and green peppers that I was about to pick. I hope they really needed the food but wish they would have asked me.

It's hot again today and is supposed to get up to 91 with the possibility of showers. I'm going to stay in and read.

Wishing you all a happy Sunday,

Thinking of going to the farmers' market. I don't need anything but my PT tells me I should walk around for about 10 minutes each day. The muscle spasm is still there but it is improving slowly.

Yesterday I got one HUGE ripe tomato. It's Amish Paste and though it can be used in salads it's especially good for making sauce. Since I have so few tomatoes coming right now I'll use it for salad. Can't wait to taste it. One of the varieties I'm growing is Rose Berne. They are heirloom and about the size of a small peach. OMG are they sweet. I've never had such a tasty tomato. Any of you ever try one of that variety?

Take care and stay cool.

Good Evening:

It's a good thing I went with Vic to the hospital this morning for his weekly blood test. When he is feeling well he goes himself, but with his numbers so low I thought it best to got with him. As it turned out he needed a transfusion. We were there about six and a half hours.

The Japanese beetles have invaded my garden, though not nearly as bad, so far, as they have in years past. UGH. I hate those buggers. After the hospital I stopped at the garden to pick some chard and a few beans, and water the plants. Some of them really needed watering.

Well, enough for today. It's my PT exercises and relaxation.

Wishing you all a lovely evening.

I made a conscious decision to eat emotionally today. If I hadn't been mostly on track for a year and a half, I might call this kidding myself, but I've actually never said I never want to use food again. My eating has been a lot worse in the past, and I find myself looking forward to the good feelings that will return when I have recovered from this short bout of overeating. In other words, I don't feel like a failure, and am confident that this is just a blip. emoticon

It rained here also and the sun finally decided to come around 5 PM. So all weekend, I didn't do much. Tomorrow is another day.

Good luck with the dr appts tomorrow, Gail. I'll be thinking of you. Good for you on your garden. My husband's is doing ok but not as good as he wanted it to be. Hopefully with all this rain it will get better.

I hope everyone had a nice weekend.

Good Morning:

We got some more rain very early this morning and I'm so grateful for that. It's a good day to stay in and I'm hoping I finally finish the mystery I am reading. Somehow I seem to get sidetracked every day. This one is by Martha Grimes: THE MAN WITH A LOAD OF MISCHIEF.

Vic has his weekly blood test tomorrow, and I have a rheumatology appointment Tuesday and a PT appointment Wednesday. These medical appointments knock me out so I'm going to rest up today.
Seems like I've been doing a lot of resting, especially since I threw my back out.

Stay cool and be well.

Good Morning;

We've got rain in the forecast for the next couple of days. Good...then I don't need to water the garden.

I'm so happy I picked my first little tomato yesterday. I was a bit overenthusiastic because it's not quite ripe enough, so it will sit on the counter for a couple of days. I'm making a Chinese stew today using broccoli, snow peas from the garden.

Had a good food day yesterday and am so thankful for that. I've gained and am approaching my highest weight. I'm trying to get a handle on things. The fact that I can barely move, let alone exercise, isn't helping.

Stay well and do good things,

Gail

I was reviewing some of the information from the 4-day Win by Martha Beck. I've been told this before but was reminded and started thinking more about some new but cheap and accessible pleasures to replace food. I think that's why so many of us struggle. We need to replace at least some of the pleasure of food. Sometimes just paying more attention to what we DO do helps. I find that giving more attention to the results of cleaning or gardening, even if I don't actually DO more of it feels pleasurable. And showering, or applying lotion, etc. sometimes, I put perfume on in the evening just to have the fragrance for myself! emoticon

Good Morning:

It rained here this morning and I'm so glad; that means I won't have to water. A garden neighbor gave me a kohlrabi, plus I got my first 2 cukes, some green beans and some snow peas. The cuke I had last night was very good, but the skin was bitter. These were not pickling cukes and I had never had this variety before. The exciting news was that some of my tomatoes are starting to ripen. WOO HOO! I usually have to wait till the first or second week of August. It's the smaller varieties that are coming in.

I'm still limping but am walking better than yesterday and am very much more comfortable. It's 78 and partly cloudy now but will clear up this afternoon. The temperatures are supposed to get up to the high 80s low 90's. I'm planning to stay in and read.

Stay cool and drink lots of water,

Gail

Gail, that's why your back/butt is killing you, it's all that gardening! Either that, someone kicked you in the butt! heehee...Sounds like your garden is doing well. My husband's is doing so-so. He is starting to get tomatoes, lettuce, and swiss chard. We have a black raspberry bush, we have so many of them now, that I decided to freeze them. But they are good! Just take it easy and put the pillow under your knees while lying down.

I'm surviving the heatwave! It's better than snow and sub-zero temps. Went out walking yesterday for 30 min. Today, I decided to do the treadmill down in the cool basement.

Hope everyone is doing well.

NOMIS1 - isn't strange to be without a computer now? Before we didn't have one, now we need it! I hope it gets fixed soon.

Good Morning:

It came to me last night that I have a severe muscle cramp in my left buttock and it still hasn't gone away. I think it was brought on by staying in one position for a long period of time. Last night I put on a back brace. If I'm not better in an hour or two I'm calling the doctor. maybe something like Valium will help. UGH...I hate taking medications, but this pain MUST go.

Stay cool and hydrated.

Good Afternoon:

I spent about an hour and a quarter picking and watering my garden. A garden neighbor grew turnips and beets and she doesn't use the greens so she gave them to me. I brought them home along with today's batch of beans, a few snow peas and a zucchini. I ran an errand ant then got busy cleaning, steaming and freezing the veggies. I also cooked up 2 lbs of bacon and froze that. What a job! I started at 8:15 and finished at 2pm with just a breather for lunch.

My back is still killing me, but it is a wee bit better. I rested, napped a bit with my feet up, and just got out of the shower. Time to settle down with a book for a while.

Please stay hydrated and keep cool.

Gail

Nancy: So glad your eye appointment went well. As for David's shoulder, I can relate. A couple of weeks ago I started PT and must do two exercises every day. The shoulder doesn't hurt since I got the cortisone shot, and my range of motion has improved a bit with the exercises. I go back to PT the end of the month.

Gail You need to be careful in this heat. Make sure you do stay hydrated.

This afternoon I had my annual eye appointment. Everything went well. I did get a new prescription...I need them a little stronger for reading. I also have early signs of cataracts, but he doesn't want to do anything about that at this time.

This morning I took David to the doctor to have his shoulder checked out. It has been sore and really painful to move it. His muscle has tightened up. They gave him a muscle relaxer and pain meds and he has some exercises to do. If it doesn't get any better in the next week, they may recommend physical therapy. We will see how he does.

After spending most of the day at doctors, I decided to take it easy. I finally finished the book i have been reading for almost a week. I have the Nook Color e-reader and I just bought the new Iris Johansen book "Eve". It's the first book in a trilogy. I have read several of her books and love them.

Nomi Glad the show and dinner were good.

Hope everyone is having a good start to the new week.

Good Afternoon:

We are having a heat wave which started yesterday. It went to the very high 90s yesterday afternoon but was a mere 81 in the morning. I went to pick from my veggie garden and thought there would be just a few things: NOT. I wound up with two large plastic grocery bags veggies. I was drenched after 45 minutes when I called it quits. When I got home I spent a few hours cleaning and processing the veggies so that I could freeze them. The worst part was picking beans and I suffered all afternoon, all night and today. Even 3 ibuprofen didn't help much. What back-breaking work! Next time I need to kneel, squat or sit when I pick. Bending over is just not the way to go.

This morning I took Vic to the hospital for his weekly blood test. Thankfully he did not need a transfusion. When we returned I got my hair cut and a pedicure at the local beauty school today. I had a card for a free cut, so the bill came to $10. Not to shabby and it was a nice treat.

I just awoke from a 3.5 hour nap and feel so much better. Sitting with my feet up is the best positition to relieve the pain, so I'll go back to my chair and foot stool.

Stay hydrated and cool.

Gail Glad you had a good time.

I've had a good weekend. My DB and SIL were in town for a few days. The family got together Friday night for dinner...We had the best time. As always we did a lot of laughing. They headed home to OK Saturday. This afternoon we went to my niece's house. She had everyone over for a cook out Whenever the family gets together, we all bring something. That way no one has to do all the work. Friday It was my turn to bring the salad. Today I brought the fruit...I brought a fruit bowl with pineapple, strawberries, blueberries, watermelon, cantaloupe, grapes and mint. We also celebrated my niece's husband 's birthday today.

Hope everyone else had a good weekend.

Glad you had a surprisingly good experience! I know what you mean, though. I attended a dance camp and found myself focusing on how frustrated I was with the teaching and the other people in my way rather than on just what I could accomplish in that moment. I had fun! emoticon

Good Morning:

Boy was I wrong yesterday. The Opera In The Park was the best ever and the weather really cooperated. Few bugs and it wasn't too hot. The singing was AMAZING. The mezzo was spectacular and the others were very good too. I'm so glad I went. Just goes to show you, don't pre-judge.

It's just after 8 and it's supposed to get up to 94 today. Think I'll go pick my veggies early.

Hugs for all.

Good Afternoon:

I finished SMOKIN' SEVENTEEN this afternoon. What a hoot! If you want to laugh pick it up.

Tonight we are going with friends to the OPERA IN THE PARK. We go every year. I don't know what it is with my but I'd just rather stay at home. These outdoor events with crowds and portopotties no longer beckon to me, even when the show is good. It seems like such a schlep. The bugs are out and it's usually hot. I sound like a real kvetch. Maybe I'll be more in the mood once I get there.

Hope you all enjoy the weekend.

I'm unexpectedly going to see a Broadway show tomorrow. A friend of my friend is sick and not able to go so I am going on her ticket. Pretty happy. The show is "Anything Goes" and I heard it is just wonderful.

Am sooo tired today. We went to see a play last night and got home late. This morning I had to get up at 6am....ugh.

I'm reading Janet Evanovich's latest book, SMOKIN' SEVENTEEN. Typical Stephanie Plum et al.

San Diego has an outdoor theater modeled on the Globe theater in England which often features Shakespeare plays. The seats are a little hard, and you need to dress warmly, but it's fun. emoticon

Going to a play tonight so I'm going to take it easy today. It's a 45 minute drive each way to the theater in the woods. Have any of you been to an outdoor theater? Tonight they are featuring THE CRITIC.

Good Afternoon:

I just awoke from a wonderful nap. Boy, did I ever need that. I was up at 3:30am with pain in my arthritic shoulder and decided it was time for ibuprofen. Sure enough that did the trick. But it took a bit for it to kick in and before I knew it I had to get up, so all in all I was short on sleep.

I went to the garden this morning to pick. I tell you to keep up with the green beans I've got to pick every day. I like them skinny and tender, so they cannot go long. I also got a heap of broccoli and an oriental eggplant. This last one was a big surprise. A friend dropped by for lunch and I was too tired to prepare anything so we had bagels with cream cheese and lox and a green bean salad I prepared yesterday. The lunch and the visit were perfect I I didn't need to overdo it.

Hope you are all staying safe and cool.

Dear Friends:

Thank you, thank you, thank you for your prayers and support. The doctor just called to let us know that results of Vic's recent bone marrow biopsy came through and the news is better than I ever expected. His cancer cells went from close to 30% in February to 9% last week. UNBELIEVABLE!

Please know how very grateful we are that you have continued to keep us in your prayers.

I did a laundry this morning and took advantage of the rainy weather to do not much of anything else...a little tv, a few computer games and the newspaper puzzles.

I'm so glad it rained; that means I don't need to water.

Nomi: You are always on the go. Do you spend much time at home? I love the peace and quiet of home and find it an effort most of the time to go out and do things.

Well, last night was certainly quite an experience. The play was well done and very enjoyable, but just before it started there was an announcement that there would be a delay. One of the patrons was in distress and they had to call an ambulance. Everything went well till the last act. Suddenly a man in the audience stands up and shouts, "EMERGENCY". The actors stop mid-sentence and 6-7 people (presumably doctors, nurses and EMTs rush to the spot. Another ambulance is called. This second patron, a woman who looked to be in her mid 50s to mid 60s eventually was walking, with help, to the ambulance. I suspect it was dehydration or the heat that got to her. After the ambulance left the play resumed. A few years ago we had a terrible heat wave in August. I recall someone saying that they had been to American Players Theater the previous week and people were dropping like flies. At a single performance they had to call an ambulance 4-5 times during the performance, It's so important to keep hydrated during a heat wave and to stay in if you cannot take the heat.

Hope you all enjoy the day.

Nancy: Ah, the joys of home ownership! You'll get everything fixed and then you can sit back and enjoy. The finished product is just around the corner. We don't need any repairs but we need a lot of updating. Our carpeting and linoleum floors are 30+ years old and the carpeting especially needs to be replaced. I can't do anything right now because Vic's blood counts are so low, so it will have to wait. At least everything is very clean, and that does make a big difference.

We could use rain and I'm hoping today is the day so I don't have to water. If something doesn't happen by 10am I'll water the veggie garden. BTW, I got a handful of green beans yesterday and am hoping to get another handful today.

Take care, be well and do good things.

Gail Those jokes were so cute, especially the one with the Rabbi.

Today was a crazy day for us. The glass in our back storm door got broken. So David took the frame to the glass shop. Because it is tempered glass, they have to order a replacement. We should have it back in a week. Our chimney leaks whenever it rains. So we finally found someone to fix it. They have been working on it for two days and should be done by the weekend. We are hoping to talk to the landscaper this week to start figuring out what we want to do with the back yard. David got the new ceiling fans installed...they definitely make a difference. It is starting to get hot here, so I guess summer has finally arrived.

hope you all are having a great week!!!

Good Afternoon:

I just got these jokes from a lovely lady. They are so cute I wanted to share:

BEING THANKFUL
A Rabbi said to a precocious six-year-old boy, "So your mother says your prayers for you each night? That's very commendable. What does she say?" The little boy replied,"Thank God he's in bed!"

----------------------------------------
--------------------------------------
---------------

SAY A PRAYER
Little Johnny and his family were having Sunday dinner at his Grandmother's house. Everyone was seated around the table as the food was being served. When Little Johnny received his plate, he started eating right away. "Johnny! Please wait until we say our prayer." said his mother. "I don't need to," the boy replied. "Of course, you do "his mother insisted. "We always say a prayer before eating at our house." "That's at our house." Johnny explained. "But this is Grandma's house and she knows how to cook."

----------------------------------------
--------------------------------------
--------------

Enjoy the day,

HI team,
First off I want to write a thank you. This team has welcomed me and is active!

I've been around SP for a few years under a different name. A few months ago I decided to create a new page with a new name. I consider myself an active person, one that is always on the go. I get up early and go to the Y for morning swims or group runs. I also bike and walk. My issue is that I am mindless eater and eat too much. My weight has gone up over 10 pounds since last fall when I increased my exercise training for Triathlon. I was hoping even back then to lose weight but instead gained! My family supports my exercising routine but not really the diet. I am going at it alone and its hard. I find myself giving in to temptations more and more.

Thanks again for the welcomes. I hope to get to know others as I sure use the support!

Good Evening:

Yesterday I picked lots of greens and lettuce. I kept some and gave the rest to my granddaughter and neighbor. Scherer's Fresh Produce....that's me. I've got lots of blossoms on my beans, squash and tomatoes and got my fingers crossed for a good crop. Do any of you have a vegetable garden?

It's been hot here and I've a tendency to stay indoors where it's so much more comfortable. For those of you who live in the south, I don't know how you manage the heat.

Sending you all love and hugs,

Penny Sorry to see you go. I hope you find something that works for you.

Nomi & Gail I have been here two years and like you I wish I had more to show for it. I feel that I have made a lot of friends who I can talk to about anything. They help me when I feel I can do better.

Today was a "quiet" day for us. Almost all the family is away on vacation...they have all gone to the beach for a week. They will get home some time on Sunday. I have heard from them and they are having a great time.

Hope every one had a good weekend.

Good morning:

July 4th. It's sunny, hot and folks are ready for the small town 4th celebrations here in Madison. Well, we're not too small. Every year we have Rhythm and Booms, a synchronized music/fireworks event. They had it Saturday night and it drew over 230,000 people from all over. Vic and I never go. The crowds, traffic and general mayhem are nothing I look forward to. Besides, PBS airs it on TV. So much nicer to watch it from the comfort of home if we want to.

Vic is visibly depressed though he tries to hide it. Yesterday Helena, DD, and Hannah, DGD, stopped by to visit. Vic played the piano for a long time and slowly got better the more he got into it. However, it still was a poor reflection of what he was able to do just a couple of weeks ago. It's heart-wrenching to see him go down hill.

Hoping today is better for all of us.

Gail

Good Morning

Nancy - it is hard for me that's why I gave myself a treat. I keep looking at my polished nails and think I did it. It didn't kill me. I can keep going while I have the momentum.

I'm a bit nervous about tomorrow. My brother, fiancee and another couple are coming up and we are going to a fair. All kinds of food. Of course, that's the first thing I think of when actually it is a craft fair and there are rides for kids. We may be going to Charlie Browns for dinner. I need a plan. My usual go to plan of drinking water doesn't work as well when there is no real restrooms. I cannot use those portapotties.

I'm on a Message Board of losing a lb. a week. Seeing exactly how I am doing in black and white like that helps a bit. I keep track at home, but posting for everyone one to see has given me an incentive.

Good Morning:

It's been thundering this morning and it just started to rain. Woo Hoo! I don't have to water the veggie garden.

Going for PT this afternoon, my first session. I'm hoping I can get more range of motion in my left arm. Since I had the cortisone shot three weeks ago I've had no pain.

Enjoy the day.

Deb Welcome!!!

Gail You should definitely try to find a time you and your daughter could do it. Some places are open until 9 pm. We all said it was nice to just be together. My niece and I may consider getting a manicure some time.

Nomi Congrats on the weight loss. That is great that you stayed down for 2 weigh-ins. I need to get to that point.

We have been trying to decide what we are going to do with the back yard. We have someone from the lawn service we use coming by next week to give us some ideas and an estimate. We still some more bushes to get cut down.

Hope you all have a great weekend.

Nancy

I'm happy to say I did well at dinner. Did not eat that delicious warm bread.

Gail - how is Vic doing?

Hi

Deb – glad you picked this team

Lost 3 lbs. this week. Pretty happy. I'm going to treat myself to a manicure as that is my reward to being under 175 lbs. for 2 weighins.

Went to a Silver Fitness class at the gym and will be meeting a friend for dinner.

Have a great day.

Deb: So good that you're standing with us.

Nomi: Great that the cardiologist appointment went well.

Nancy: What a wonderful idea. I 'd love to do this with my daughter. The only problem is she's lucky to get out by 8PM so it's hard.

Enjoy the day.

Well I took a good look at my teams & decided to only keep this one. I will take on one at a time since keeping up with more than that is to much for me right now.

Gail Glad Vic is doing better today.

Nomi It's good to hear the cardiologist appt went well.

This evening the girls in our family went for a pedicure. It was my mom, my 2 sisters, my 2 nieces and myself. We had the best time. We are thinking about making it a regular event every few months. We went out to dinner afterwards. It was ladies only. We had been talking about doing something together ever since we moved back. I never knew my feet could feel so good.

Hope everyone is having a good week.

Nancy

Gail, glad to hear Vic didn't need a transfusion. Nomi, I hope all went well at the cardiologist. I;m hanging in there. For some reason, my food choices are leaving me lacking in the fiber department. Usually, I get plenty. I think it's because I've been eating more fruit and less fresh veggies lately. It looks like a trip to the grocery store is in my very near future. I also usually eat more whole grains. Lately, it's just been protein and a veggie or fruit. My body can tell, too. emoticon

Blessings! Dee

Gail - thanks. Must be expensive if it has retinol in it. Glad to hear Vic did not need a transfusion.

Naomi, I am so glad that you enjoyed the show. It is good to hear that Daniel Radcliffe, aka. Harry Potter, is succeeding in doing something else.

Have a great day, everyone.

had a great time yesterday. Saw How to Succeed in Business without really trying with Daniel Radcliff and John Lourequette (have no idea how to spell the name - hope you know who I mean.). Daniel Radcliff was excellent. What a fun show.

Dee- it’s tough when you work so much. Good Luck.

Gail – glad to hear Vic is doing better. What is the name of the cream gorgeous.

I'm having so much trouble with my computer, I can just scream.

Have a good evenig.

Gail, I am so glad the Vic is doing better. You and he are in my thoughts and prayers.

I hope that everyone is doing well. The sun is shining here in beautiful Mystic, CT, but we have to have the A/C on for the second day. Most of the season we have been able to have the windows opened which is preferable.

I am going out this week to finally get a few annuals to add to my window boxes and pots. My large garden has lots of perennials which, thankfully, survived the winter and are flourishing.

Those who live in a part of the country with floods, fires and tornadoes are in my thoughts and prayers. Keep the faith.

Have a good one.

Hugs,

Good Morning:

I'm going to take it easy today. Gee, it seems like I say that every day. But emotional stress knocks the everything out of me. Vic is doing better and when he is better so am I. Thanks so much for the prayers.

I've got to share something with you. For my birthday one of my friends gave me a gift certificate to Target. I decided to get something for myself that I'd never get because it seemed frivolous. With the help of the pharmacist I got a tube of cream, over the counter, which is supposed to reduce wrinkles. I have used it every day since June 8th, and so help there is a DRAMATIC improvement. It makes me feel so much better to look better, so it's a real "pick me up". I figure it should last another couple of months, and at less than $20, it's not too costly.

Just before Vic went into the hospital last week I put our membership at the gym on hold. Now I have to find alternative ways to get exercise. I figure gardening will be good. Also, I hope to walk.

Enjoy the day everyone.

Gail

Good afternoon;

Vic is doing so much better. It's a beautiful day here and I got him to go out and have a little walk. He spends entirely too much time lying on the sofa. As long as he's better it's best to get him moving so his muscles don't atrophy.

Went to the garden to pick broccoli leaves (last year a friend told me that they are like collards or other greens...very healthy), and a quick trip to the market. This variety of broccoli greens is so tender and has a mild taste.

Wishing you all a happy, healthy evening.

Gail

Hey all. I haven't been on the pages lately. Work has been crazy. I came back from vacation with 2 people out and me having to fill in. This next 2 weeks won't be much better. I'm struggling, trying to fit in exercise, because my usual schedule has been messed up because of work. I was able to exercise before work on 3 days. Now I have to go in early and I've been working about 10 hours a day, plus Sat. the past 2 weekends. When I get home, I have dinner to make etc. By the time all that is done, it's after 8 and I usually go to bed around 930. Okay, I'm done whining. I have a 4 pound Curves hula hoop I've been doing. I did it for 15 minutes today. We'll see what else I can get into. emoticon

Blessings! Dee
