DarK orange, check with your pharmacist before crushing any pills some are deadly taken that way... Oxy anything should not be crushes. Long acting anything should not be crushed. If you let your pharmacist know (and he's a good one) he might be able to help with liquids instead. a vitamix is awesome at pulverizing food and cracking ice. It's a lousy choice for crushing pills. (Let the pharmacist do it for you. )

No one mentioned yogurt. Excellent ideas though.

wired shut-yikes. I'll have to check out the vitamix. I have a hard time swallowing pills unless they are minitabs plus i get reflux easily, I bet a powder form wouldn't behave the same way. neat.

My therapist told me the way to achieve true inner peace is to finish what I start. So far Iíve finished two bags of M&Ms and a chocolate cake. I feel better already. - Dave Barry

A friend of mine years ago, had a broken jaw from a car accident, they wired her jaws shut for the healing and see did lose a bit of weight. I leant her my vitamix and she had steak soup one night. (Steak Potato gravy and a bit of beef stock. run through the vitamix and there you have it) She was well relieved when she drank that. 2 months later the wires came off and my wayward Vitamix came back home to stay.

I haven't been able to chew for a week (wisdom teeth came out). Soft friendly foods:
baby food (there are many great options)
mashed foods: potatoes, risotto, green beans with cream of rice
anything with gravy, sauce, broth
soups (veggies + water/broth + seasoning) - blend
ex. fav cauliflower with better than beef boullion
whole wheat cous cous (was really good with beef gravy)
parmesean cheese sprinkles flavored tomato sauce well
blueberry applesauce (no sugar added)
very soft breads (indian typically that can be warmed with butter)
smoothies
scrambled soft tofu with olive oil

Sometimes looking at what could be made into baby food can stoke ideas - i was really suprised!

Quiche is like dinner but it's really an omelet with a crust. In case dignity is an issue. One I was a Mom Sitter and I had to feed her baby food because she was combative and if she'd had her teeth she'd've bit me. But even in that state she knew it was baby food she was eating and she felt bad about it.

Of course I told her that she'd taken care of plenty of babies in her time and now it was our turn to care for her. She bought that whole.

My father loves it when Helen or I bring him something homemade and sweet (not even picky any longer about whether it has SUGAR or sweetener). Soups, puddings, canned fruits, bananas, jello, and so forth are things he really enjoys (some days the only things he eats off his tray if they give those to him). He does like the soup HOT though and so we have to ask them to heat it up in the microwave.

My mother in law drank some Ensure drinks which are full of nutrients, when she was sick.

Egg salad is a very good idea. Lots of protein and tasty. You could also do tuna or chicken salad too. How about mashed potatoes or even mashed sweet potatoes. An Omelette or scrambled eggs would be good with a bit of cheese and soft cooked mushrooms added. Overcooked pasta, like penne or ravioli could work too. How about a stew with veggies, egg noodles and meat. If you cook the meat until it's very tender and cook the veggies until they are softer that would be tasty. Hopefully this helps a bit... it sure did make me hungry! :)

It all comes to this: the simplest way to be happy is to do good.

If God brings you to it - He will bring you through it.

The struggle is part of the story.

That's good. What about banana pudding? Or jello salad? My Grandma loved both of those.
