Another trick I do when I'm bored and hungry is I drink herbal tea. In fact I'm having a cup right now. it's Celestial Seasonings "sugar plum spice" 100% natural herbal tea. The other one I have that I love is called "sugar cookie sleigh ride" I got them at xmas time. I like sweets so I sweeten them up with some splenda.

I am a boredom eater as well, but my problem is the opposite; I boredom eat at home not at work it's terrible! One thing I have found that helps me is crocheting, it keeps my hands busy so I can't eat, LOL. And like someone else said, gum is my new best friend! If I find I'm pacing around the kitchen or want to munch I grab a glass of water and down it.

Try getting a for Dummys book for whatever it would make sense to learn next. They are much less painful. Check with your superior about reading at work, what is allowable and not allowable, the tattle tale could be making up extra rules for you. It sounds like "Dealing with difficult people" might be appropriate reading material for dealing with your co-worker!

There are some great tips here! I have the SAME problem - I'm a PC Tech and all I do is flip CDs (put this CD in, click next, wait, take that CD out, put another one in, click next.... You get the idea). I can't chew gum - I have TMJ - and I can't do any CRAZY exercises since I share an office (plus it's FILLED with PCs! LOL) I feel like a smoker (I don't smoke though - never have) - I get the urge to put my hand down and return it to my mouth with something! I try to read articles here and do something else, but that just increases the urge! AND it's slow right now since our budget is slim to none with emphasis on the NONE! I can't read a book (I work with a tattler who says I can't read on the job unless it's job related - have you TRIED to read a PC manual - BORING!) I can't do a LOT of what is suggested. I do sometimes just walk out of the office and walk around the block (our blocks are about 1/10 mile on each side.... if that!), but I can't do that ALL the time.... Any suggestions are GREATLY appreciated :)

Eating when bored at work has been my biggest obstacle to overcome. I work 11 hr shifts and when there is nothing to do I read a book. Usually I work alone so there's not even someone to talk to. It's tough!!!!
I usually go through a whole pack of sugarless gum on the days I work.

Hm, some good suggestions here. I work in an office and cannot really sit and play games or read and have to be very careful about the websites I visit. I'll have to try the gum thing. It's not necessarily that I'm hungry, it's just that my mouth needs something to do!

Can you go talk to somebody? Check email? Do jumping jacks and pushups? Go up and down some stairs for 5-10 min?

Drink a lot of water, chew some gum...
Good luck!

Run, run, run... :)

I always carry a "just in case" snack. It prevents the over-indulgence.

I have found that if I keep dried cereal in a cute little bowl and snack on that it helps....like Cheerios, shredded wheat.....love the crunch with a few almonds thrown in!!!!!!

Can you do word searches at work? I do those when I'm watching scary movies (which makes me munch). It helps!

Hurry, go in and brush your teeth and drink water! Go into the bathroom and swim....yes, bend over at the waist and pretend you are swimming in the ocean. That motion massages every muscle in your back and will relieve the tension you are feeling. Hope this helps. Works for me most of the time. Xo Mary Ann

Today is a slow day at work, and I am really struggling with the munchies. I want to just gnaw on something - I feel like a hampster. Hand me a cardboard paper towel roll and just watch me go... Anyhow, what do you do about boredom eating? (besides do something un-boring, which is not an option because I'm at work, can't just leave). Help!
