NEVER dwell in the past - it's over. Think about today and your future.
Find determination and support with Sparkpeople and maybe a support group or DR as suggested for your sadness. YOU CAN DO THIS.

first: you are beautiful and your own person. Comparing ourselves to others just makes us feel bad. One good thing my mother told me was there was always going to be someone skinnier, prettier had more money, etc. than you. get over it and learn to love what you do have. You deserve to lvoe yourself. you deserve this journey to health and wellness. find one thing that you like aobut yourself today and focus on that. Every time you start to think negatively, focus on that one positive. We can rerecord our negative thoughts into more positive thoughts. good lu8ck.

What do you do well? What do you like about yourself? Those are just a couple of things that I'd focus on if I were you. I know there are things to put on those lists!

I'm book marking this discussion. The advice here is so lovingly stated and so relevant to everyone. We all have our moments.

I have trouble at times believing I am pretty too, but I am going for healthy so pretty doesn't matter. Without question even with my trials and tribulations I am healthier than when I started here. I know that this will be a healthy place for you as you hang in there.

Review the advice below. This is sooo good I am bookmarking it.

emoticon to the team. Many of us have issues that we are working through. With most of us, it seems we stuff down our feelings with food. Of course, we won't find any peace by doing this. God loves all his children irregardless of their size.
You have taken a huge step. I won't tell you t will be fast and easy - it won't. But it will be worthwhile. Start slow by drinking your water and logging in all your calories. Begin an exercise program. Try a 10 min walk 3-6 times a day.
Come here and chat when you feel down. You are accepted here never judged.

Welcome to the team! emoticon You have taken some huge first steps, first in joining Spark and then in joining this team! You will find a lot of support and advice here and I encourage you to check in often. Now, I know how hard it is to accept yourself and stop beating yourself up for past mistakes, but you need to realize that you are an amazing person who has much to offer. Start telling yourself all the good things about you and stop talking about the bad! Someone mentioned in a posting about making a list of 50 things about yourself you are proud of. I'm still working on my list (on my page), I'm only about halfway done, but I know that I'll finish it. You might want to try it...

On your Sparkpage, you said you have a big heart. Sweetie, open up your big heart and treat yourself as gently and as kindly as you'd treat your best friend who needs your support. Leave the past in the past. You can not drive a car looking in the rear view mirror. You need to start looking forward, use whatever abilities you have & start working on improving your life little by little--the fact you exist means you have value--you are here for a reason. By giving kind words on a site like this--you will change people's lives(no one can have too much encouragement)& you will find that you will start to see the wonderful girl you are. You've already shown your self that you are a success by the weight loss you've already done--do positive things for you & others everyday & make small daily actions & you will be amazed at how you will see yourself in the future. You can do this & you are so worth it---don't look at other people & compare yourself to them, or you will never be happy, trust me--been there. I'm glad you're here.

i was an expert at blaming others for my unhappiness but it was me who made things better, finally.

That's very well said that if we could fix the past, that's all we'd be doing and that is something that I really need to remember from time to time.

Each day is a new beginning and we CAN change.

I've lost 50 lbs since August 2007. I state this fact often in my posts because I need to remember that. I'm not anywhere near a perfect weight but I've accomplished something.

You can do it too.

Be kind to yourself because the rest of the world is only too happy to kick you around.

Take care.

Pick yourself up, dust yourself off and get back in the game.

I think you have found the right place. You are not alone by any means. Here is my advice:

1.You cannot go back and change yesterday... if we could, we would spend all our tomorrows fixing them. At least I would.

2.You can't compare yourself to someone else because you are you. There are no other you's in the world. You are unique... you have to define who you are... I know you have gifts too.

3. Positive self talk is a start. Don't tear yourself down to make others feel better. When they hurt you, tell them. Often times I numb out with food. Its not about what I am eating...its about what is eating me.

4. Do something for yourself that you have always wanted to do. Go back to school, learn to paint, write a book, plant a garden...do something that will visually let you see the fruit of your labor...do something on top of weight loss. Expand your horizons...make it more about the dreams you are fulfilling and you will find you will be fulfilled.

You are not alone. We go there every now and then. Visiting the abyss once in a while is okay... staying there is not.

I'm in the same boat as you are.
Only that I'm older.
My first suggestion is drink water then drink some more water. Eat fresh veggies and when you want to snack, have some fresh veggies or maybe some fruit. I'm like you, beginning my journey. If you are too sad, you should seek medical help, nothing wrong with that, and much better than the alternative. Normally, I'm a big cut up, but this is serious!

I know others here will help you with more suggestions.

I'm certainly NO DOCTOR.

Today I wrote in my journal today I started to think about my life. I find myself feeling sad. I started to remember when I was in middle school. I was always a chunky child and I had low self esteem. I was picked on and put down. I fell unworthy and ugly. I'm mad at myself for getting over 400 lbs. That's part of the reason I eat all the time. My family says that I'm pretty but I don't feel that way. I keep thinking about how I wish I was like my sister. My sister is smart and talented. I feel like I should be like her. I don't know how to love myself. Could someone give me some suggestions please. Thanks!
