I do hope you stay. So you didn't do well today. Tomorrow is another day (Gone With The Wind). I do believe you have to have the right state of mind to lose weight and exercise. It sounds as if this is a very stressful time in your life. emoticon emoticon emoticon

What do you mean you failed? You ate a healthy breakfast and then you went to Sparkpeople for support, that's totally a success. I have a tendency to wander away from Sparkpeople when I'm not doing everything right, and believe me it doesn't help. Stay here, do the best you can, and take care of yourself.

Yes, stay here and post. Obviously you didn't totally give up or you wouldn't have walked that mile.

Sounds like you are clear that it is the emotional eating that is holding you back. So coming here and learning to observe yourself and gradually learning some other ways to cope is just the thing to do-- no matter how many times you get dissappointed that you still sometimes use food to deal with emotions.

Us adult emotional eaters have been doing this for a long time--- it's a process that can take a lot of time to really change.

Please do stay with us...just focus on changing one thing this week...maybe vow to drink all of your water every day this week. I know I first started by setting small goals...my first week, it was just to eat at least one fruit and one veggie each day...exercise just ten minutes a day...don't try to do so much when you first start that it overwhelms you. You can so do this!!

I read your other post and you are going through a lot right now. I wouldn't be so upset and think you are a failure. Still wanting to be on here and posting, it means you are still fighting. Don't give up on yourself. You cannot fail if you don't give up. Tomorrow is another day. Sometimes we can fake getting into this. You may not believe in yourself yet, but you can. Fake it. Tell yourself something positive every day no matter how small and focus on that every time you feel negative thoughts coming into your head. Re record the negative thoughts that come through your head. Eventually we start to believe it. Then we start to believe in ourselves and learn to love ourselve.s Fake it til you make it.

1 bite at a time = 1 choice at a time.
Choice is in our power; take the power and run.

Of course you should stay! We are here to support you.....just try to move a little more, think positive only thoughts....even talking to yourself out loud in positive ways can be helpful, because you are SO WORTH IT! NEVER FORGET THAT!!!!! Blessings on your marriage too!

I had a lot of "false starts" when I first tried to lose weight. I would have a healthy breakfast, pack my healthy lunch for the day and then throw away the healthy lunch and go get fast food.

Wow!! Thank you so much for the support and encouragement! Before reading all the replies, I went for a 1 mile walk this morning! Then I read the responses and am overwhelmed with good feelings and hope. I also think for myself I will try to focus on the exercise first, then the meals. Baby steps is a great idea ... 1 meal at a time. Thank you again everyone!!!

PS - Kinda want to sing the song from Hee Haw ... "if it weren't for bad luck I'd have no luck at all" ... but I won't. I injured my heel several weeks ago and hoped it was well enough for me to walk this morning, but it is telling me otherwise. Now I'm icing it down and need to let it heal before trying again. I believe it is plantar fasciitis.

Some days, most days I fail at my eating. I've learned not to be too hard on myself and that this is a process. My weight did not come on over two weeks and it won't come off in two weeks much as I would like it to! Keep trying daily and those small changes will start making a difference.
This is a great group/site. All the posts are so encouraging and motivating and supportive. I may not reply to all the posts, but I read many of them and am happy there are so many wonderful people out there!

No Excuses!!!

I know a lot of people on here who have said I can't do this right now, I ahve a husband to take care of my son just graduated My daughter is ahving a baby there is no time for me. that is jsut an excuse. Have that talk with yourself and come ehre for motivation and support and feed like a pro. You can do it. It take s small steps. My first goal was 8 cps of water. One thing, one day at a time.

We don't call our backsliding failures, thats a negative term. These are learning steps to a better healthier lifestyle change. You had a good breakfast, congratulations on that. Thats a first step. Do that for a week, heck with the other meals, do a healthy within calorie breakfast, then next week add a healthy choice for lunch too. Little baby steps gets us to our goal too. Not everyone does big man size steps. Your stress levels are very high now and you can't afford to stress out on food plans and menu plans too. Try to get some exercise like walking for quiet time by yourself that helps the stress levels and gets you out and about. Please keep on logging on and get other ideas that you can incorporate without adding more stress into your life. Think positively no failures, you are not a failure you are trying to make yourself into the woman God intended you to be.

Hey there -- No failures. You're here and you're writing and that is SUCCESS! I am also separated (two months now) so I can appreciate some of the anxiety that goes with that.

I've only been here at SP for a few weeks, but it's definitely a great -- and varied! -- community. I have found a good deal of support here. Just reading the blogs and posts is great. And writing (just like you're doing) is a good way to prop up your own motivation.

Don't feel bad-I've been trying for the month I've been here to get my eating under control. The only thing I seem to get right is breakfast and then the rest of the day goes to pot.

I have, however in the last month brought my calorie intake from 5000+ calories to around 3000 a day. There's been a few days I've hit around 2500.

I'm also slowly easing into a workout program. I'm doing the best I can.

There's a great group of people here. Keep on trying.

Yes!!! Absolutely stay here. You are very anxious right now. It isn't unusual to be eating poorly when in the midst of these emotional circumstances. I would advise you to stay here. Read posts from all of us. Once things get back to "normal" and you aren't so anxious you may find it is easier to get into the Spark program. Please stay with us. We all care about you.

Breakfast was the only thing I was on track with today ....

Well I believe I've truly not decided to commit the this. I think one should pschyed to do so or you just set yourself up for failure as I have done on Day 1! Geeze, what a disappointment! It doesn't help that I am totally bored with nothing to do, at least nothing I want to do. Also anxious about my relationship with my husband whom I've been separated from since Sep 2008. We are talking about reconciliation but so many obstacles to overcome first. Waiting on his response to a letter I wrote him. It is driving me crazy.

Is it okay that I stay here, continue to post and read others trials, tribulations and successes? Possibly "your" stories will encourage and motivate me.

Sadly discouraged.
