I have been given some wonderful words of help and support. I have taken all the advice and I will be making changes (slow and steady) I am NOT giving up and we will all be successful in our own way and in our own time. I really appreciate you all taking time out of your own lives to help a fellow emotional eater out. Be blessed and take it one day at a time. Thanks, Michelle

Sometimes we can do everything right and still not lose any weight or lose much. I was hitting it hard core a few years ago. watching what I ate, walking, really giving it my all, well alot more all than I normally did *chuckles*

anyways I went to the Dr once a week to check my weight.

1st time: 1 pound lost
2nd time : 1.5 pound lost
3rd time: 2 pounds lost

About this time I got disgusted and fed up and just stopped walking altogether
the 4th time around: 5 pounds lost.

The Dr explained to me the body is going to do what the body is going to do and you cannot force it or make it bend to you while (so to speak) no my mom swears she can lose weight by eating carefully and the next day the scales will show it. Which is does alot of the time. I don't even argue with her anymore I let her do what she wants.

The point is if we have a good plan in place and follow it, it doesn't matter about the weight. If we are eating better, exercising then the weight will come off and I feel we should just focus on doing the day to day stuff and the rest will fall into line.

On the other end of the spectrum if we are doing everything right and not losing weight I think its time to look in the mirror and really ask ourselves if we are doing all we can.

I have times where I think I am doing great but I gain a few pounds here and there, and I am shocked and cannot figure out why. Well when I really stop to think about it I know that I am not doing everything within my power to accomplish my goal and really I have been half a$$ing it. One day of doing super does not undo a weekend of self abuse *chuckles*

find your own balance, learn to be honest with yourself, learn to be flexible with yourself.

That box of donuts we ate yesterday there is no way to undo that, we need to forgive ourselves and move on and learn from the incident. Or we can be pissed off and upset with ourselves which in turn will (usually) make things worse.

Some days we will hit it out of the park, some days we wont. We are the only ones in charge of our individual health, we can get help and support from everyone around us, but no one is going to do the work for us.

Courage does not always roar. Sometimes, it is the quiet voice at the end of the day saying, "I will try again tomorrow"

i haven't been here very long but i can say that it takes allot for me in order to lose the weight that i would like to lose every week. that is something that we can all agree on for the most part. you see i keep losing and then gain back some of the weight that i had lost so that is something that i can only change. it takes allot to be on a certain amount of food everyday but you can do this and so can i. we just need to focus on what we need to do and yes it's hard to do but then anything that worth while is hard. i know what i need to do everyday in order to stay healthy but sometimes we all get off track we just need some other way of getting back on track.

I have started over many times. Try not to panic as you haven't done that much damage now. It is habit and which one you choose to follow. You know the healthy habits but they are in the background while the urge for the old unhealthy habits have crept back in. Try to think about what worked for you before and how good you felt when you were in control. Picture a conservative obtainable goal - short term and longer term. Start with being successful at one part of your short term goal. Slowly cut back on the poor eating as much as you can. Fill your house with good healthy low cal food, esp fruit and vegetables. If you want to over eat do it on fruit and vegetables. As you make steps in the right direction and have a good day, I think you will get back on track. What is the extra food really doing for you? It is making you heavier which leads to feeling bad which leads to eating. Nope extra calories is not our friend and doesn't solve problems, but makes problems. You are not alone and you can do this. Start small and be kind to yourself.

I am not losing this fat - I am removing it for good.

I was having that exact same problem.
FIRST I came back to Spark.
NEXT I made a new Spark Friend.
Then I bought THE SPARK CD that I listen to everyday in my car on the way to work.
NEXT I started LOGGING everything I put into my mouth (stopped for a LONG time)
I DRINK at least 84oz a day (mostly water)
AND I've been PUSHING myself to jog 5 days a week, even if it's just around the little park next to my house (10min). My goal is to get back to the 2mi run I USED to go on.
It's very hard, but as long as I log and DO something each day I remain at peace with myself.

You need to RELAX, don't pressure yourself, just find something you can do to START and you will be on your way.

All we can say is you are not alone. thousands of us on this site are going through the EXACT same thing you are :) that might not fix anything but at least you know your not alone in your struggle

Greg said it all.
There's really nothing I can add except to say congrats on the weight you've lost- you obviously know what it takes to lose weight.

Well what do you feel you need to do to "get back on track?"

if its more than one thing i would suggest that you pick one thing and work on that no matter how small. Set a time line for yourself like "Im going to walk for 5 minutes everyday, or every other or once a week" whatever it is, it doesn't matter something that works for you and is attainable. Then you slowly increase it by however much every day or every week, or month ETC. You can do anything you want you don't have to follow anyones rules but your own :)

Look it happens we all fall off from time to time, we are not perfect, we will never be perfect, and striving for an unobtainable perfection I feel personally hurts us more than it helps,.

A quote of mine I love is this:

Motivation: motivation is not wanting to do something yet finding a way to do it anyways.

We all feel we have to "find motivation" or wait to feel motivated that is complete and utter bull****. Who wants to exercise? most of us do not, so we suck it up and do it anyways even if its only for a few minutes. We accomplished something.

Some people will tell you if you don't exercise for X amount of minutes you aren't doing anything, those people can kiss my ***. Don't listen to them, doing something is better than nothing any day of the week and chances are they have never had to deal with the thing that we need to, and even if they have they are not realistic about or put their own expectations on others.

So listen to yourself, YOU know whats best for you and no one else can tell you whats better for you than you, not me, not anyone. That doesn't mean you cant listen and take suggestions IF they help you, but if they don't then leave it. Take what works and leave the rest behind :)

No matter how much we pray and support you the bottom line is this: YOU must find a way to get back on track and YOU must find a way to get yourself in motion. We will do whatever we can for you but in the end you must actually bring about the change, just like I must and everyone else in here. You can do it even if you think you cannot. I know because I feel like I cannot most of the time and I HATE IT when people give me that little YOU CAN DO IT!!! pep speech, but its true only we can do it for ourselves because if we don't no one will.

so get to it :)

Greg

take it slow, give yourself a break and know we are here for you.
start with small changes. drink you water, eat healthy, take a walk or some form of exercise.
the exercise will make endorphins which will make you feel better, which might help your motivation. give yourself a hug. and know this: you do deserve this journey. you do deserve to be happy and healthy. maybe you won't be miss american thin but you can reach a healthy weight for you. I know that I will never meet the "guidelines" set for me height, but I'm okay with that. I have to feel comfortable in my own skin and that weight is different from what the standards are. you need to find a way to love yourself on the inside and once you can start to love the inside, you will love the outside as well.

Planning is they key for me. My meals are planned in advance and I stick to them. I use the appointment reminder to exercise every day.

You are definitely with the right group of people. About 6 years ago I dropped 35 pounds. I have put 25 of it back on. I'm struggling to get my act together and take off 15 pounds. Stop beating yourself up. It makes it worse. Go do something like join spark bootcamp. It can help you get focused. If you need a friend I'm here.

MEMISH, firstly, understand tat what you are feeling is normal. Be gentle to yourself. May I sugest that you put your scale under your bed for a few weeks and focus on eating healthy and walking and then when comfortable weigh yourself. Sometimes, people obsess with the scale and it frustates them. Use other means of measuring your weight for instance rings or bracelets. enjoy your foods.
Hugs

Hello my friends, I need guidance and prayer right now. I have fallen off track and I seem totally unable to pick myself back up and continue on my journey to better health. I have gained about 15 lbs (the same 10-15 lbs that I have been fighting with the last year). I think I am just frustrated with the plateau but I need help from you all right now. I know what I have to do to get back on track I just don't seem able. Thanks in advance.
