Agree with prior posters - it has taken us X years to get the way we are and unlearning those behaviors is a process. I actually think you are making progress - only one soda and the pizza didn't taste good. The more I crave healthy food, the less appetizing some of the old, greasy, high fat stuff is to me. Each time I eat something I don't enjoy and then log the HUGE calories associated with them - it gets much easier to avoid that food in the future.

We have all had moments like that, it is what makes us emotional eaters but realize you are doing better. It was just one root beer and you went for a walk afterwards plus the big thing is you realized the pizza wasn't really good so i bet next time you will remember the pizza wasn't so great and you won't make the same choice the next time the craving comes on.

It is funny how we think that if only we could have that pizza we would feel great and the opposite happens and like you say it never tastes as good as we have built it up to taste! I try to remember that when tempted. I still have more times when I give in than I would like but it is a learning process. Next time think of how this time made you feel. For me I hate that over full feeling as it makes me feel very tired and lethargic!

You sound like you have got back on the wagon pretty quickly which I think is the important thing. That is where the learning comes in. Before I would just have kept going for a few days and then given up the whole thing.

There is nothing to hold you back except you.

You can press forward long after you cant. Its a matter of wanting it bad enough.

The bad news is: we are our own worst enemies. The good news is: we are our own greatest champions.

Thank you all for your encouragement. I've been pushing this urge off for a while now. Last week I had a calzone and hoped that would satisfy my craving. It did until I got bored today.

Tomorrow is a new day. I will refocus and go from there. I refuse to give up on myself!

Don't be too hard on yourself. We have all been there and done that. As Ima said it does take time to form new habits, and even once you have incorporated those healthy behaviors that you want into your everyday choices, those slip ups still happen. I have been on maintenance for almost a year, and I still have days where I eat really badly and wonder what happened. Just give yourself a shake and get back on track. One pizza will not undermine your efforts!

Linda ~ as you pointed out the root beer was just one glass & not the whole bottle. I would count that as progress.

Next time you are tempted to order pizza, come back & read what you shared here while picking up on what you are feeling about your choices around food this day. That should be enough to get you to rethink buying pizza for one.

Please, dont be down on yourself I doubt that there is one person on this team who hasnt had a similar experience. We just determine to learn from such choices & how we felt afterwards & go from there.

It really does get easier to resist temptations& make better choices for our health (99% of the time anyway). Still, it takes time to form new habits, my EE Teammate. So just keep plugging along doing the things you are learning work in your favor.

God bless you!

I was really bored today and didn't want to go to the grocery store to get food. So, instead, I called Godfather's. emoticon If that wasn't bad enough, I ate a whole medium pizza in one sitting. emoticon Of course, I had to wash it down with a glass of root beer. Thank goodness it wasn't the 2 liter bottle.

What really disgusts me is that the pizza didn't even taste that good! I didn't even enjoy my binge.

To make up for it, I went for a walk this afternoon. I might get on the treadmill tonight. I'm drinking lots of water. And, I think I probably won't eat the rest of the day. I'm too stuffed.
