Hello, ladies! Hope you are all having a lovely holiday weekend. I'm sorry that I've been MIA for awhile. That first week of classes is always a killer of best intentions, but I'm back and determined to stick with it.

Happy Saturday!

Quiet day here so far. Today is the first college football game of the season and the town is full of fans, but the neighborhood isn't full of loud cheering and fireworks. Football is taken very seriously around here, and you can quickly learn the difference between fans and fanatics.

I may just take today to fold and put away the laundry, run a couple of quick errands, and then spend a lazy day at home with the hubby and the cats. I worked 14 hours yesterday and I still feel it.

Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend. I'll be checking in from time to time though.

Hugs,
Lucky

Good Morning everyone! Hope everyone is enjoying a beautiful Saturday wherever they may be! I have been to the groomer to drop off my poodle and to the vet to get my one cats insulin and needles - now just taking a break & having breakfast - thinking about all the little chores that I need to get done - might head to the lake later to visit with a friend and her kids

Other than that a pretty quiet weekend planned here!

Just returned from my sister-in-law's dad's funeral in Kenosha. He was 89 and had a good long life, so it was sad, but not tragically so. I got in a short run along Lake Michigan this morning before we headed back. This evening I have a potluck for a discussion group I'm in. Tomorrow is farmers market and laundry. Sunday we are going apple-picking and to APT, (great out door theatre) and Monday I need to clean house before my sister visits next weekend.
This cool and cloudy is a bit of a change, but I like it much better than the heat!

Good morning everyone.
Have a busy weekend planned. Today it's around the house with laundry and varnishing some furniture. Tomorrow is the 4 miler race. Sunday, may go into work, haven't decided yet, and Monday it's off to visit a college my son may attend next year.
Hope you all have fun and healthy plans for the upcoming weekend.

Ahhhhh! It's Thursday night and the town here is evacuating for Labor Day. A few people will hang back because of the college football game Saturday. We'll be staying home, getting the yard in shape and just enjoying the time off.

Anyone have Labor Day plans? Traveling? Partying? Sleeping in late? emoticon

Getting a Good Night's REST

First thing you do, for rest, is REST your MIND. Wind down for the day. Take some time at the end of the day for relaxation exercises, music, a soothing bath, a warm drink such as Sleepytime (chamomile) tea. Having a cool down after exercise is beneficial. Try it after your DAY. Sleep well

I tried it works for me!!

Hi all! just getting a few quick minutes to check in before I am back to the grind! I want to say THANK YOU to all of you for your support... my mood is a little better today - outlook on the job still not great. Something is going to have to give soon!

On a brighter note - my hubby is going to spin class with me tonight! This is the 2nd time for him... I am looking forward to us getting to exercise together for a change!

Hope everyone is having a Terrific Thursday!

GracieGal,

I know what it's like to be stuck in a job that you can't put your heart into any longer. I'm sure almost all of us here have had this happen. Maybe putting in some applications will make you feel better and you might even find something you like better. You'll never know until you look, right?

And if you're not able to find anything else, try to make the best of the opportunities you have with your current job. Those extra responsibilities are going to look super good on your resume at the end of the school year! The extra things you're doing will help you rise above the typical applicant; employers want to see someone who goes over and beyond just their job description. In this economy, give yourself every edge that you can.

If all else fails, then you might have to do what a lot of people, including me, are doing: be thankful that we have a job - any job. Once you start looking, you'll probably see what I'm talking about - jobs are scarce. I advertised for two part-time temporary workers in May, and got over 400 applicants. The job market stinks everywhere (I live in Florida).

I wish you the best in your situation and hope there's some happiness to be found!

A couple weeks ago I was feeding a neighbors cat, while she was out of town, well the cat jumped on my leg and clung with claws still in. I yelped and screamed and left the apt. By the time I got back to my apt. I was bleeding alot. I cleaned and bandaged it up!! It hurt, I checked again and a BIG bruise was there!! I kept it clean and bandaged up!! Went to drs. and wouldn't you know I have a bad infection in it. There are deep punture wounds and now I have to take antibiotics!! My leg still hurts!!

Graciegal, I would apply for other jobs. When I have felt stuck, underappreciated, or otherwise unhappy with a job, it has always helped to look at other possibilities. Simply by applying for other jobs, even if you aren't certain you want them, you are affirming for yourself that you do have choices; that you are not as "stuck" as you feel. The one thing I would caution against is taking a different job only to get away from the one you have. It's always better to be moving toward something than simply away from something.
I hope that makes sense, and good luck!!

good morning all! Just can't seem to get it together! I went into this new school year thinking it was going to be a great one and my mindset has done a complete 180! not happy with my job which in turn makes me grumpy when I am not at the job... which makes me skip my gym routine and makes me eat EVERYTHING in sight!

I am in such a dilema - I told the principal of the school I would basically stay all year since this is her last year(so she says) I am doing tons of extra duties that she guilts me into (testing coordinator, Chairperson for School improvement - the list goes on and on!) yet I know if she does retire there is not a snowballs chance in you know where they will even entertain the thought of letting me become principal of this school! So here I sit doing all this work and basically it is not going to help me get the type of job I want...

SO do I start putting my application out there again for other positions or do I sit by another year and do all the grunt work.... *sigh* would love to hear what my teammates think... (my hubby is sick of hearing me complain!)

Despite all of the great tips and articles, not getting the sleep I should, except for Saturday & Sunday night. Working late, eating dinner later, and winding down into what would normally be sleeping time. Not willing to give up my exercise time in the morning. Afraid if i don't do it then, I won't have the energy when I get home or the time. emoticon

Sometimes, especially if I am over-tired I feel "bouncy". Then to get to sleep I lay on my side and rock back and forth or bounce my legs (thus my calling it feeling bouncy). It is better to do this before hubby comes to bed so I don't drive him crazy. LOL!!

Bonus #1 What works when I'm having trouble sleeping:
1)focus on breath
2)count
3) repeat a brief prayer or meditation
4)get out of bed for a little while, read or do yoga
5)imagine something pleasant

Bonus #2 good sleeping habits:

1)yoga before bed
2)make sure the room is cool to cold
3)take a little time to unwind if we've been out
4)control darkness of room
5)this is the most effective one - my DH snores loud enough to wake the neighbors, so once the kids moved out, we moved to separate bedrooms. We both sleep better! (I'm not so sure about the neighbors.)

what helps me sleep...although I admit I am a night owl. Taking bathes just before bed, drinking chamole tea. Massages from hubbie etc. Thought I'd drop in and say hi. emoticon

Therefore we have been buried with Him through baptism into death, so that as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, so we too might walk in newness of life.

What works for you when you’re having trouble going to sleep?

1. Put a calming "New Age" CD into continual play
2. Self-hypnosis
3. Get the room colder
4. No pjs or gown
5. Play a mind-numbing computer game until I almost fall asleep upright. LOL

What good sleeping habits have you developed that insure a good’s sleep every night of the week?

1. Make sure the bedroom is cold (cold = good snuggling!)
2. Shut off the TV about 2 hours before bedtime.
3. Read something's that's calming or technical (no comedies)
4. Take any medication that is going to make me drowsy 2-4 hours before bedtime.
5. Play some nice soothing music to fall asleep to.

I don't normally have much trouble falling asleep. Usually my head hits the pillow and I am out. LOL
But there are some times when I can't get to sleep. My number one cure: SEX!

1. I keep the room cool at night.
2. Go to bed at pretty much the same time every night
3. I have a nightly routine of carmex and good smelling moisturizer
4. I flip the sheets up to check for bugs. Hardly ever find any LOL but it is better than thinking they might be there.
5. Turn on the fan (even if it is not warm) to have white noise to drown out all the other noises.

Happy Monday Wave Runners!!

Graciegal - I hope you are not too sore from your fall.

Leann - I hope those migraines stay away this week.

So this week I am busy getting ready for my trip. I leave on Thursday (don't know when I am coming back). Hubby will be following me in a couple of weeks - probably driving up. The stressful thing is not knowing how long we will be gone, and not knowing for sure when he will be leaving, but I am sure that everything will work out ok!

1. Go to sleep and get up at the same time 7 days a week.
2. Limit caffeine. I try not to consume any past the late afternoon.
3. Create a comfortable sleeping environment free from clutter and stressors.
4. Regular exercise just puts my body in a better rhythm and sleep comes more easily and regularly.
5. Melatonin - it works for me
