After a long day of driving, slept well last night. Got up and went to the gym with hubby. Ran on the treadmill for 2.25 miles and then lifted weights for 30 minutes. After breakfast, we went walking about. It was hot and humid so drank lots of water. Got back to the hotel so hubby could take an early afternoon nap. We're going out for more walking and dinner out.

Prior to last year I would never consider myself a runner of any type. I picked running since it was the furthest idea from what I like to do. But when I did, I met friends who were encourging and had like mindedness in health. It has paid off, I am starting to enjoy running but more so to see how far I can push myself. It also motivates me to keep on track with eating right. Yesterday I was able to finally walk/run 3.23 miles for the first time in 7 mos. I am excited to continue to push myself and hit the goals I've set.

Keep up the good work - and congratulations on your first 5K!!

5k is my max. Running is new for me. I'd rather swim. I did my first 5K event earlier in the month, so now I'm just trying to keep it up and improve for when ever the next one comes along.

My longest walk/run is about 2.64 miles - I am just getting back to running after foot surgery in December. I signed up for the Walk / Jog team and just completed that (had to miss a few days due to travel) but did sign up for the next level. I use these training programs to help me get back running. I enjoy the progress I have been making, and am looking at trying to run a 5K later this summer.

I never thought that it would be this difficult to recover from foot surgery. And they said I was a model patient!!! (LOL). I thought I would be running back in March. Boy I underestimated that recovery. I didn't start therapy until April. I am still doing the excercises to strengthen my quads and ankles as well as trying to change how I walk and run (realignment).

I am excited to continue on these teams!!

Everyone have a nice week!! Lets log some miles!!

Good morning,

I just registered for the America's Finest City 5K - August 19th- here in San Diego. Paid for and everything. I think it helps to have a solid goal.

Hello everyone! I ran a 5k ten years ago. I decided its time to do one again. I just started Tuesday with the first week of 3/1 intervals run/walk and did 3 miles In 44 minutes. I hope I can make a lot of improvement. I ran it in 34 minutes then and I'd like to do at least that or better.

I have to say I've been battling with some shin splints for several weeks... hoping they continue to get stronger!

Goal : Still haven't run for more than 4 minutes at a time so for this month it will be to finish the 5k run training and do the run. That will be July 1st or 2nd.

I have registered for the 10km race at the Marathon de Montréal. I plan on running all the way. I am currently looking for a training program to bring me from 5k to 10 k

Your welcome re: ticker. Well I got a little challenge, I have shine splints again not from my 8 K Sun RUN but from what I thought "Taking it Easy Meant ". I did the sun run on saturday past as you all know. So Sunday I rested like a good girl and Monday I did walk 5 K but slowly just to loosen up . ON Tuesday I thought I shoud not go walking and do crosstrainng at the pool. Well I did not know that you can work out to the point in water that you are going to Hurt!!!! Well I got out of the pool feeling pretty good but realized while getting dressed and going outside and then the stairs told the tail..... My body Was Jelly!!! Good sign I had a good work out but next day I had shin splints so I went to physo. So now resting!!!! GRRR!!!!! So I am trying to ensure that my calorie intake is a little lower this week as I can't exercise. GRRR!!!!
The thing for me is, that I am so mentally determined to be healthy that My body can not keep up with me. I had injuries to shins and feet in march April and laid me up for 6 weeks apparently because did to much exercise!!!!! Imagine ME To Much Exercise!! I say this because before January 2011 I did not know what the word meant!!! LOL emoticon

Welcome ! Weight loss ticker.
You can adjust it to the pounds you are at the beginning and what your goal weight is or you can use the weigh loss ticker and put the amount of weigh you want to loose. (I wanted to record my actual weight and my goal weight)
On your Spark Page go to edit my spark page and scroll right down to the bottom and use the tool to create a weight loss ticker! If you want it is pounds and it shows kg go to Start Page and click on (change) in Weight Tracker when you enter weight enter it in pounds not kg.

Congratulations on your first week, and remember relax and enjoy the experience of this sight. It is amazing to me that their are many tools you can use to help keep you motivated and so much information about how to get healthy.

June goal: 36 miles

The farthest distance I've done in one day? In "the modern era" (since I started running again 2 years ago), my longest run is almost 4 miles. Back in high school (early 80s), I ran a couple of 6 mile races (we didn't measure them in kilometers where I ran :^) and I have no idea how long we ran in training for cross-country.

I ran a 5K with my 8yo this past Sunday. He beat me (again), but I was closer. He had a cramp early on, which slowed us both down (it was a crowded race, so i didn't want to leave him behind), then he left me behind at about 1.5 miles. We already had plans for someone to meet him at the end, if he was ahead of me (my husband was at an all-day lacrosse tournament with our 5th grader).

Yesterday June 4, 2011 I completed my FIRST event called the Auther James 15th Annual SUN RUN 8 K . Yes I completed an 8 K . I jogged the first half KM then walked the rest. I am so proud of me. I am happy my mom did it with me it was her first to.
Also, after the race I put my before picture next to my race day picture at 181.5 pounds and I was very surprised at how much weight I have actually lost.
Best of all I now can say I have completed an event like this . I feel so proud I accomplished this goal. I am now looking forward to the next event which is a 10 k on June 22, 2011. I feel so alive!!!!!

Hi, my name is Joan and as of June 1st (national running day) I signed up for the Philadelphia 1/2 rock n roll marathon! So I'm running a minimum of 5 miles a day with long runs-9miles yesterday on the weekend. Today I'll keep it to a slow 5.5 as I don't want to injure myself. Oh yea, the marathon is Sept. 18th!
