There is to much snow today. I'm staying in the house. My husband and I did get out to see if we could find the cars and the drive, but we gave it up as a lost cause. After lunch we tried again, but it was still snowing. Take care and have a safe and happy weekend.

This is in response to Suz' message

I am on plan today. I was starving at lunch and when I went to heat up my home-frozen entree, I discovered my breakfast in the microwave! Oopsie! No wonder I was so hungry!

I had a nandos last night, but I'm not stressed about it for once, I don't feel like I fell off the wagon, rather that I had a 80/20 moment. I'm kind of worried about the weekend though, it's my dad's birthday and I'm going home. If I could just maintain at 146/147, I'll be happy. Fingers crossed

I had a good day eating, stayed within the calorie range! YAY! ; ) Also exercised, WOW, cannot believe it.

Curious to know if anyone can tell me how to get to the journal in SP? I am having trouble finding it. Thought it might be helpful. THANX!

Yesterday I had a completely "on plan" day. Going for a repeat performance today.

The weekends are hard for me too. To everyone who overindulged on the weekend -- pick yourself up and start over. Every meal/snack is a new opportunity. Put it behind you and move on!

U posted ur mesage of 2/11/ regarding the gaining lbs. after losing some the week b/4. According to my trainer at the gym, it will happen, however, if u stay with the program and keep your eyes on ur goal, u will get there.

As long as the lst weight is greater than the gained weight I think it is ok.

Good luck.

just don't give up,stay with ur goal and u will get there. I'm 76 was in great shape for a number of years them I tired of fitness and the results were disastrous. Now @ my age I hv no choice but try to get back to what I once was or at least a semblance of it.

Of one thing I'm sure,if I stick with it I will get there. u should too.

My 16th Spark Day. I'm still LOST in a SPARKling MAZE!!!! There is so much here! I'm requesting some super simple hints for navigating essential paths in Sparkpeople. I have been using the trackers pretty well, but get lost among the many teams and challenges and things. I have a question for the experts but can't figure out how to ask it. But I'm making baby step progress. I've lost 6 pounds (mostly due to illness). I changed my name from 'judyonadiet' to 'judyliving' it, because it gives me a more positive message each time I log on. I began nicely with an exercise goal, but then got bronchitis and have had trouble getting over it enough to resume. Any advice out there? Thanks, judy

Hi there,

I am new to SP, too, and I just quit smoking/drinking aclohol, coffee, soda, etc. 37 days ago. I seem to be doing all the things that you are -- including working out. In three weeks now, I have gained a pound. Please let me know if you find anything out, since I seem to be in the exact same boat.

Thank You,

Red

p.s. congratulations on the five months!!

Yes I had been feeling this way and unfortunately it got much worse. Soooo tired very light headed, weak and a multitude of other symptoms like what you was talking about. I went to the Dr. and it was a vitamin deficiency. B12 but not only did I not have any in my body and almost died but my body rejects it. Now I must get weekly injections. I also have thyroid problems. I would tell everyone to always have those two things checked out. Especially when your feeling slow, slower than usual.

You know I haven't been on a calorie restricted diet for ages, so the other day I woke up feeling very light headed, a bit nauseous and had a headache. Unless I'm sick this is not normal for me. So I checked my diet from yesterday and I really looked at what I ate, veggies, protein (lean meat, beans) and thought everything looks okaaayy but the carbs seemed a bit too low.

I know runners can get really run down which is why they "carb up" before running. My carbs were far too low for safe dieting, I was so worred about going over my 1200 - 1500 limit that I really wasn't watching what I ate. I had eaten very few if any whole grains.

So a pancake breakfast and about 2 hours later I was okay. But I'm watching this now. I'm trying to find my right 300 calorie x 4 meal foods but I do think I need to be more careful.

I understand the tiredness when I changed drinking soda to water I became tired also although I do not know if it is the same thing that you are experiencing. It stopped after four days though getting seen by your doctor is a smart idea

Hello everyone. I'm about a week in of using SP and it is going ok. I'm struggling really bad right now with motivation. I completely changed my life the day after I turned 25. I quit smoking (5 months smoke free now), stopped the fast food and junk food, eat a ton of fruits and vegetables, drink all my water, stop drinking sodas, work out 5 days a week... But I've lost 5 pounds. I am tired all the time and I really thought it was my life style but I changed everything and my body is still the same. I went to the doctor yesterday and I am having my thyroid, iron, hormones, things like that check to figure out what is going on. Anyone else having these problems? I've kept my head up the past couple of months waiting for something to change but I've lost patience and motivation. I want a new life to mean a new body...

I did pretty well this week. I've been eating trail mix that I made (raisins, salt-free sunflower seeds, almonds, craisins, and banana chips) and cucumbers dipped in light ranch for snacks at work. I've also instated a 9:00 cut-off time for eating at night. Nothing after 9:00! I didn't realize how much I tend to snack at night. Even just "small" things add up calories...and pounds, I'm sure!

Running in a race this weekend, so that should be good. Here's the problem...after every race there is free food and BEER! I'm going to stick to healthy options, though, or at least try. It's the beer that gets me, though! To be honest, I enjoy a frosty beverage every once in a while and don't see that changing anytime soon. I've just got to learn better options. I read an article on SparkPeople this week about choosing alcoholic drinks. Apparently wine is the best option...good to know!

That's all for now... :)

Feeling pretty bad.
Woke up late due to a failed alarm clock and slept through my two classes today.
My face has started to break out from all the stress (I have six papers due next week, four of them on Monday and Tuesday).
I went to meet my acting partner so we could practice our scene, and she couldn't be there for more than a few minutes, and our scene is also due on Monday.
Realized when I guessed by starting weight I was ten pounds under, so it will be a while before I actually start losing weight, according to this tracker. Unless anyone knows how to change it without saying that I gained ten pounds, because that isn't true.

And to think, I've only been awake for a couple hours. Can't wait to see how the rest of the day pans out.

I am disappointed today! It's been almost 2 full weeks. I have exercised and eat right. End of 1st week I lost 5 pounds but today I weighed in and I have gained 3 of it back. Uggghhhh...this is so frustrating. How in the world could I gain?

OK this the end of my first week on SP. I lost 3 pounds!

Yay!

This nutrition and fitness tracker is just the thing I've been needing apparently. I'm so excited now to continue on.

Rather than snacking in the evening, I get on SP with a cup of tea, and figure stuff out for the day gone by or for the next day.

I eat very little processed foods and was really concerned about how to accurately record my own recipes. It is a bit of a pain to measure out how many servings a recipe makes and whether it is a cup per serving or 2/3 cup or what have you, but once it's in the computer, it's in. I figure it's like achieving any other goal - at first, it's a pain in the butt. But over time, the changes become habits and you get a routine and you see progress and that makes doing the daily little annoying stuff totally worth it!

Hope the rest of you are having a great day, too!

Good morning! I got to sleep in a little morning and I'm having some yogurt now. Then my hubby and I are going to the gym this morning.

I woke up with some energy, which is exciting.

I'm going to try and do 45 minutes on the elliptical today but we'll see.

Hope everyone has a good day!

I've been kind of tired lately. I'm going to TRY to take a nap today, but I'm not sure if it's going to happen.

Last night, I got some chocolate as an appreciation gift for being on the school board, and I didn't chow it all down at one sitting. I did eat some of the dark chocolate covered pretzels though. I didn't overdo it though, and I'm proud of that.

So far so good losing weight, unfortunately, I'm falling into that total "food focus" attitude again. You know: is it low fat? does it have sugar-free sweetner in it? need to have a much smaller amount? can't eat more than one? I must remember to track this?

I go crazy with that kind of inner dialogue. So today: plan ahead, record it and forget it. Just live!

tried to stick with the diet this weekend, but was out of town visiting family. everyone wanted to eat out, and i tried to choose healthy options. unfortunately no weight loss this week, and i think the weekend had a lot to do with it :( heading out on my honeymoon next week. hopefully that doesn't totally derail my diet like the weekends do!

I am kind of frustrated. I started off really energized and am still very committed to this journey. However, I can't spend hours per day on the website. It took me hours to track my food intake, what a PITA. I know it is important to track what I eat and I get valuable information from the reporting feature but I have a life. I assume that it gets faster after I enter all the information on foods I eat. But I really like to try new things all the time. Every time I add something new I have to figure out how to log it in. Also, I try not to eat too much prepared food. When I make a dish from scratch it is hard to figure out the nutritional information to enter. I have to look up every single ingredient in the dish and divide the total fat, calories, fiber, protein, etc. by the number of portions. Help! Does anyone know of an easier way?

Thank you Sixmile, for the kind acknowledgement! Yes, it is a BIG change for me. I have decided to be grateful for the differences in my behavior rather than fearful that I will fail. One week ago today I spent the day over-eating, wasting a beautiful day, feeling lousy and out of sorts. I have had six days of freedom from over-eating and regret about food. I am so grateful.

I will find strength in pain and I will change my ways....to live my life as it's meant to be.

Toward the top of the page (under where you can track your water consumption), there is a green box that has a button that reads "Add a food not in my meal plan" and you can search for the food item (i.e. Lean Cuisine or whatever else) and add it. If you don't find it in the system, it gives you the option to add a food not listed, so you can create a listing and input the calories. Also, you can hide the suggested meal plan; that button is right next to the "Add" button on the main page and reads "Don't show meal plans". Also, there's a button at the top (above water tracker) that says "How do I use this page?" that takes you to a brief (2:30) video tutorial.
Hope this helps!

Im on day 5, Im finding the reports so helpful. I didnt realise how little protein I eat so Im trying to find ways to get more in to my meals. And Im realising that protein really fills you up too. Im just not a big meat eater and never will be, but Im going to try and find new ways with eggs, tofu, nuts, anything this week.
I havent weighed myself yet but I already feel leaner.......

I am trying to figure out how to select the foods I actually eat. For example, if I eat a lean cuisine that is 340 for lunch how do I mark that on my nutrition page. Currently I have been making sure that the calories equal the same by marking the same amount. I wanted to know what to do. Someone pls give me a clue.
