Hello Team! Crazy day here in MN. Fun, Fast, Funny & Furious!

Tomorrow is another opportunity to enjoy!! Wills, living wills, obituary, decluttering, organizing —who knows what will happen. Division—dividers —grabbers—takers—givers. Who knows?? I walked away from the money our father held over our heads. I moved on & the other 3 stayed in the drama & greed. Shudder!!!

Life is good!!! Yyyiiipppeee!!!

Hugs to Surround Us All as a Group! Connie, in WI

Ah, it's so good to know that I will leave virtually no income squabbles between the boys. Half of nothing is still nothing, lol!

This is the start of my second workweek of no work, and it feels soooooo good! It's not just that I'm getting things done that I've wanted to finish up for a long time, it's more about the WAY that I can get them done - linear instead of manic multi-tasking. There is a special place in hell for the people who structure/d the modern workplace to be somewhere that you never get a moment to focus on one thing and do it really well!

I did my semi-annual porch cleaning, and it always looks so nice for a few weeks. Lo and behold, DH actually complimented me on it last night.

That's pretty much unheard of.

I'm off to the hardware store shortly and then, when I get home, one task that was on my list all last week but that I never got done.

Another thing that really pleases me is that this past weekend I didn't have to cram in the housekeeping and laundry. I did a (FlyLady's rules) load every day and policed my hot spots, including actually finishing up little projects that tend to lie around. (You know: find the battery for this gizmo, take these things to the shed, figure out how to tie up those cords, etc.) That is definitely something that drives DH crazy, though he does the exact same thing himself, lol!

MAW, there are currently about nine income and non-income properties. His attorney is putting one, that one of the stepsons lives in, in a trust. He hasn't had issues with taxes yet - rental properties can yield some monster expenses when you least expect it.

I think his intent is to have someone liquidate the entire estate and then start distributing it to charities. The client is a bit stubborn and can get fixed on an idea, so I am not really sure what his attorney has encouraged or talked to him about.

He needs to get the stepson removed as PR because both the attorney and I know he will pillage and plunder the estate and the charities will get very little. And the entire, beastly amount is probably $15M...

I think I'll mention the charitable remainder trust to the attorney when I have a chance. I wish he was the PR - he's done so much for the client including picking up his meds and buying him groceries. It is hard for me to watch a life wind down with such an incredible mess up in the air.

Speaking of wills, DH and I are updating ours and on my list of to-do's today is reviewing what we have currently and figuring out what we need to change. And I want to write a letter to each of the kids to have after we're gone, which will be weird.

I took the day off, lots of little things around the house I'd like to get done. And if not, I'll just read and that sounds more fun. We'll see.

Enjoy your day!

Here, south of Portland, Oregon, we expect 88. Ugh. I am really glad I had air con put in right after I got this house. Forecasts are saying over 100 this summer.

Got my money sorted that the ex (or someone acting on his behalf, which I think is much more likely) cleaned out of an account last Friday.

Feeling lots less stressed now. And more positive. Especially as I emailed him right away, after I'd taken it from another account. No sneaking or backstabbing from me. As I believe, always take the high road, regardless of what your angry & hurt feelings want you to do.

Had the dogs to the doggy park just after 6 this morning, while it's still very cool, and the park is quiet. It felt good to get out and move around.

I am committing to no sugar today. It's a start, the best I can do today. But it's progress compared to my recent past

Have a great week!

Leslie, I don't know your older client's situation (and don't need or want to!), but has he considered a charitable remainder trust? It would reduce his current income tax, if that's a concern for him. And would get the properties out of his estate so his family couldn't (ha!) squabble about not getting anything. Just a thought.

Our high is heading towards 70... And it's overcast.

Got to get some stuff done at home this morning. My older client has been trying to complete his Will and I'm going to put together a list of his favorite charities and a few other suggestions along with charity ratings. He's got a substantial estate and I think we'll just have to list a percentage by each charity he picks. His two stepsons and their relatives are hovering but are not named. Very awkward - glad I'm not the attorney!

Off to the PT job at 2:00. Time for another quick conversation with the owner in private. He's just finished hiring a difficult personality, and the staff has already started rolling their eyes and complaining (justifiably). *sigh* He really needs to up his interviewing techniques.

High today of 80! I'm ready for some warmer weather. So are my tomato plants.

My brother is coming down today, staying with Mom overnight. He's going to Salt Lake City to pick up a new dog. Not sure why he's doing it now; he and his wife will be going on a cruise from the 20th to the 30th. Seems like it would have been better to have waited until they got back. But they didn't ask my advice.

Supper at Mom's house is all I have planned for today. Maybe some yard work. Laundry. A bit of housework. And Russell Walks, of course!

Have a great week, everyone!
