I've almost finished one light, need to decide if I want the other to match or not. And have gotten a little further with the June scrap book page.

I have 2 projects as well.
One is a pair of coffee cans I'm turning into lights. Either ceiling lights or lamps, haven't decided yet.
The other will be an ongoing project this whole year, a scrapbook (kinda) of the 1st year of my 30's.

I worked on two different projects today. The pillow case for my Dad and the blanket for my MIL. I didn't really feel well today so not much got done.

I am taking a small breather from the afghan I am working on. There is no set time for it to be done. I think I want to take it tonight to show the person who wants it to make sure that it is what she wanted. It is a ripple afghan with many colors and a drk row inbetween the colors. They are different colors, too. We have Bible Study tonight.

In the meantime, I am making some magic square potholders for a wedding coming up in about 3 weeks. They are a neutral color with purple accents, probably a small flower up near the hanger or a small butterfly. I plan on making some crocheted coasters over some CDs. He is an IT person in the technical dept at our church headquarters. So that seems appropriate. Same colors and more of the purple accents. I started the potholders this morning while outside doing my grounding and getting my D3 . It is about 3/4 done.

I technically have three projects going at the moment; a crochet curtain for my parent's basement bathroom (oh so much fun), a knit tank top, and a large crochet blanket for my Mother-in-law for Christmas. Today I am focusing on the blanket because I want to get it done before the Minnesota State Fair so that I can enter it into the competition. I don't know if I will get it done in time. I have 10 days to finish a full panel along with the border and appliqué leaves. Wish me luck.

I finished crocheting the letter "A" for me to put on a pillow on my bed. I just have to do a border around it. I have about 4 more to do for gifts before September 28. I am also going to be working on some baby gifts for expecting mothers and have 2 wedding gifs plus 3 crocheted name hangings for my children before the first of September. Going to be a busy 3-4 months.

Hi,

This is my first time here and it sounds like a lot of fun. I live in Maryland and near by we have a ma and pa shop for scapbookers called Great Scraps. I am headed there this evening right from work to pick up supplies to make invitations for a home presentation that I am doing on Aug 14th.

This Friday evening I will be returning there to work on a two page scrapbook layout for the twins who are 4.

With God's help, it's possible for change to happen. Yet I need to cooperate with Him, which means denying fleshly desires that can hinder my progress toward change.
I don't have anything else in my life that's more important than allowing God to change me.

I managed to complete some more pieces of my jewelry. Most have been in purple, but I did get one finished last evening in blue. I love them! It is so much fun and so relaxing. It also helps keep my arthritic fingers moving.
Hope you all have a great day. Take care and God Bless, cris

I'm participating in a shoebox swap of Christmas cards in Sat. There will be 13 of us. I made a sample card, and then cut out the supplies for 24 more careds - 2 for each of the other 12 participants. We'll each make 24 cards on Saturday - or make at least 12 (one of each design) and bring the other parts home to work on them there if we run out of time.

I made a 5 1/2 x 4 1/4 inch card (out of white 5 1/2 - 8 1/2 cardwtock). I cut a dark red piece of cardstock 4 1/4 by 4 1/4. I cut 9 squares of various Christmas paper (or something swirly that coordinated), each 1 1/4 by 1 1/4 inches. I glued the squares to the dark red card stock, like a quilt, with narrow bands of the dark red card stock showing between the patterned squares. I then ran the dark red card stock, with the patterned quilt pieces, through my big shot, using kind of a swirly folder to add some dimension. I layed it out so the card is taller than wide. Glued the dark red square at the top, stamped a small red greeting "Happy Holidays" or "Be Merry" and added a Christmasy brad at the bottom.

It's kind of putsy to line up the patterned squares, but seems cute when it is done. Hope the others like it.

I'll have an assortment of 27 cards (2 each from the other 12 plus my sample, plus the 2 other samples I made while deciding what to do). There weren't rules on the size, so I guess some of these might be tags instead of cards.

I like the thought of a crocheted cleavage cover! Sounds like a clever idea.

Today while I sit outside I plan to work on crocheting a cleavage cover, if my y\eyes will allow it. If not, I may work on the afghan I am making. So far, it has worked well. Ithink I may take it so that she can see it this weekend. See if she likes what I have done so far.

I have the cricut and the cricut expression. The expression allows for larger cut outs. Cartridges too expensive in my mind. My major complaint is the sticky pad you put your paper on. When new they are too sticky for thin paper and after a few uses they lose their sticky. If you get a machine make sure you buy extra to rotate and for the different weights of paper. Bought mine from Home Shopping channel, cheaper than Walmart or Micheals and came with 3 cartridges and a reduced price in some bonuses :) Gotta luv Cricut emoticon

Always be a first-rate version of yourself, Instead of being the second.

Thank for that information. Would you compare the two with the difference in what each one costs? If I were ever able to afford one that would probably be the deciding factor.

I have a cricut expression and I love it but what I know now I would look at a different machine like the silhouette where you can cut anything not just what is on the cartriges. Buying the cartridges gets very expensive but in the end it is all about what you want and what you will get the most good out of. Like I said I do love my cricut very very easy to use but I have moved on to a new machine because that where my needs were.

I would like to have a cricut machine, too, but not on my budget. I will have to rely on cutout already made. I am using stickers right now but would also like to add quilling and accordion folds, too. I need to go to Hobby Lobby sometime to look at the different Ideas I can com up with.

I was half way through a project and realized that I would not have enough yarn to finish the project, so I restarted it with a bigger ball of yarn. I need to get it done by Friday night, so hopefully I will be able to get it done by then.

Several of you are making cards and since I've been working on a scrapbook lately I have not done any cards. Now, I'm torn between finishing my scrapbook and starting a card project. Decisions, decisions, decisions!

Hope everyone is having a good week. At least the temperature in South Carolina is a little cooler and that helps!

unfortunately, I don't think any of the scraps will work for the Christmas cards since I want to make them all the same.

It's been very hot in Minnesota, so hiding in my scrap room in the basement is a good thing.

I am trying to invent a new Christmas card that I can turn into a make 'n' take for a Christmas shoebox exchange. I'm not a professional - one of the local scrapbook stores is hosting this event and each participant will bring enough supplies (in a shoebox or similar container) so that we each make one make 'n' take of everyone else's cards. I think they have room for 15 or 20 participants. Several of us did something similar with graduation cards during one of the 'gab and craft' days that we have at my church.

The other thing that I am working on is trying to use up my bin of little scraps of paper - my bin runneth over, mostly because all the little scraps end up gravitating to the same side of the bin, or to the middle, so there is a big hump in there. Totally out of control, but I think I'm up to this challenge.

I went to a "block party" yesterday afternoon. There were many people there it was very enjoyable. I worked on a name wall hanging for my nutritionist as a "Thank You". I am planning on a few more and then start some cleavage covers in crochet - cotton for the summer and the yarn for the winter. I can make them in just about any color, hopefully. I can see the stitches barely now, but when the darker colors are needed, maybe I can see them better. I've already had one person tell me last night that she would be interested in a few.

So glad your husband if feeling better.

Today is the first day I will have gotten to go to the "Y" to exercise in about a month. My husband has been illl (actually, I've used that as an excuse not to go) but his doctor has told him he can continue exercising now. So, we'll do an abbreviated session today and Saturday and hopefully be back on our regular routines next week. This afternoon I look forward to working on scrapbook pages about my grandparents for my heritage album. Hope you all had a wonderful holiday yesterday. I did, AND the scales were down a little this morning not having seconds and making wise decisions paid off! Have a great week!

I have vision problems - cataracts, retinopathy, and detached retina. My diet is reversing it all, I think, but I was told because of my diabetes my retinas are swollen so I think that is why my vision is a bit blurrier, but I expect that to reverse, too. I am wearing a power of 6 reading glasses to do my crochet and sometimes I use another magnifying glass on a chain to help me read my patterns. But when I knew I may go blind, I taught myself to crochet by feeling the stitches. The hardest part is putting the first row of stitches in a foundation chain. I have to hold my work up to the light to make sure the stitches all went into the right stitches once in a while.

I crocheted on a name wall hanging and was able to put 2 more letters on it. I want to finish it by next Wednesday so that I can give it to my nutritionist/chiropractor because he has done so much for me to get me to the state of health that I am in. The pattern I am using is a cross-stitch pattern for letters.

My mom did macrame for a while she made frogs and flower hangers holders. She also paints. I do not but she did teach me to crochet and do some cross stitch and embroidery. I do not do cross stitch much of at all. Vision is a problem.I wear glasses and even with glasses small work............. But great for you for pressing your way.

I'd love to have a craft room but with kids............

I saw some beaded bracelets that could probably be made into necklaces with knots on a tutorial yesterday. I would like to try them, but have some crochet projects I need to get done too. Plus I need to get my beads, etc, organized as well as my card-making supplies more organized so that I can trade rooms around between the workroom and my bedroom. Then I will have more room and light in the workroom and more room in my bedroom to put a 2nd bed.

The bracelets were ade like macrame with knots. There were two different ones and I think they would be easy for me to do even with my vision impairment.

I hope I can hold out on my bead collecting. emoticon until the fall/winter season. I have most colors of bracletts and necklaces I have made. But there are a few colors I'd like to have like pinks, a pretty colored blues. Not willing to shop on the web or go to an expensive craft shop Wally world has a pretty good selection. Now I am making one more hobo bag for the summer. Still have my crocheted wrap in the works.

Anyone work with chains it seems to be in I saw some on JTV channel?

I finished one wall hanging and have started the second one. I just finished the first letter, still have four more to go. The other one had seven letters in it. It is 9:00 so I probably won't get it done tonight. Hopefully, I will have some time to work on it tomorrow. I have shopping to do tomorrow, too.

Today and tonight and probably tomorrow I am trying to finish a crocheted name wall hanging for an anniversary gift which was Monday. Then I will do another one also for an anniversary gift for Thursday, but probably won't be able to get it to them until Saturday afternoon.

Everyone has their own niche in the crafting world. I used to do a lot of jewelry, too, but my eyes are not so good anymore. Although, they are getting better, so I may be able to do it again some day. I had to take a chain that I broke to someone else because I could not see the chains enough to fix it. Can;t see to crochet with thread, only yarn, but for now that is acceptable, but I want to return it that as well. I used to make period and crochet fashion doll clothes with the thread.

I also used to do cake decorating and did all the wedding cakes for the Church, but since my eyes are going I have decided to give it up and I have given a lot of my supplies, etc, to my granddaughter.

I have tried crocheting but I always mess it up, so I gave up :( I made a pair of booties, or tried. I didn't like the way they turned out so I didn't give them to my cousin... I make beaded jewelry, polymer clay charms (cupcakes) and I used to make a lot of faux food candles

I plan to work on a crocheted name wall hanging for my 3rd daughter and a crocheted piece to cover the bad place in the ceiling lining of the car my grandson is going to get from me. I can't drive it anymore and he needs one, but the lining has a big place in it that came down. So I cut it out and will replace it with a piece that should not look too bad if I put a plain edging on it and pin it up with long straight pins.He is my 3rd daughter's son and they shpid be here from Missouri pretty soon to pick up the car, so I need to get everything done quickly.
