I agree with you on those Beyond Meat sausages, totally awesome! I like the Beyond Burgers myself, but I was totally creeped out the first time I tried one, they were so much like real hamburgers. I've gotten over that and buy them regularly now. Their grilled chick'n strips are also really good. I like the Gardein beefless tips for fajitas and I also think the Sweet Earth benevolent "bacon" is good.

I'm making Isa Chandra's Chickpea Cutlets for guests tonight. Not too bad, but probably much more healthful oven-baked than fried.

Still, if you're missing a "meat" or "cutlet" kind of thing, these are faaabulous.

I like the Boca crumbles. Also texturized vegetable protein, which you can get in the bins or on the flour isle, by Arrowhead Mills.

A couple of years ago I tried vegan... so knew about these before. BG was out of control then, I am approaching it differently now.

I assume its regular as the package doesnt say spicy. I also just realized it has a lot of fat!

Seriously loving it. And our local co-op started carrying it recently, so I don't have to go to Whole Foods to get it. Yay!

Did you try the spicy one or the regular one?

Great question and topic. I find that many plant-based meat products just taste off or bad to me. And I do try to stick with tofu, beans or nuts as my go-to main proteins. I have a good list of exceptions, though.

The Beyond Meat burger is okay, though their sausage links are really incredible. I use them in stews, with lentils, for breakfast...
The only other sausage substitute I like is Gimme Lean sausage grounds, which are great for breakfast protein or crumbled into things like stuffing.

My other recommendations are Boca ground beef crumbles Boca Chicken Patties, Gardein Fishless Fillet, and Gardein Sliders.

These foods are better than their alternatives in terms of fat, calories and cholesterol, give me a break from cooking from scratch and feed that craving that I occasionally get for those type of foods. I never thought is have fish tacos again, for instance.

As to burgers, do give the Impossible Burger a chance of you get a craving for a burger. It truly lives up to its name and is changing minds and helping the environment!

Im new to vegan and am transitioning. I may always be transitioning. Ive tried the new Beyond Meat and it was OK. Id rather just eat real food though.

Do you use meat like substitutes? If so, whats your favorite?
