Night, I've had TJ's tempura cauliflower and that is some good stuff! My favorite TJ's item is the cauliflower tabbouleh. I haven't tried their kale pesto, I'll have to look for that next time I'm in.

I used to visit Gross Out more because it always has some kind of cheap cracker or other packaged "drugs"ť I would justify getting, but I have cut them the first 90 days of 2020, so I go there less. Still has teas, coffees, plant milks, produce...

We have the Gross Out in WA!

Great deals on Chao Cheese sometimes.

Costco - Okay there's mixed feelings about this, but they do sell frozen Beyond Burgers for $15/pack of 8 (usually $8-9 for two). I use them sparingly, but when I have a big burger craving or feeling a need for a protein hit, they really work for me.

Another Costco item that may not be for everyone: Orgain Plant-Based Protein Shake.
Yup! I know whole foods rule and support that, but sometimes I don't feel up to eating a meal (or want complete protein in a shake in case I'm restricted to my home in an epidemic).
The numbers on this are really good. 1 bottle contains:
150 calories
4.5 g fat
9 g carbs
3 g fiber
1 g sugar
20 g protein

Fiber is a little low (eat an apple alongside) and beware that not all of their products are vegan, but this is good to have around in a pinch.

Here is the big confession: I shop at 99cents Only stores, among others.
Trader Joe's. I'll look for that vegan kale pesto. I love their own bruschetta, though I'm not eating much bread these days. It goes well on anything, actually.
Grocery Outlet: A small chain I think is only in CA
Sprouts
Costco (though they stopped carrying the scrumptious sundried tomatoes I loved)
Local Middle Eastern market
relatively local GTM Discount

Petalia turned me onto Bodega Cats and I love them!

Just building my social media for a thing I'm doing and have to add Instagram back to my list. Good time to catch up on cute kitties. Thank you!

Awwwwww - I grew up shopping at a Lucky's on the west coast. Memories.

Oh my gosh but Trader Joe's has some great vegan stuff! Love their hummus, spicy guac, and the great prices on nuts! (Awesome way to get raw cashews for recipes).

Just tried their tempura cauliflower which was yummy but I should only use as a special treat.

But my favorite, favorite thing at TJ's? The vegan kale pesto. Mmmmmmm so good. I put it on a piece of their pizza bread and the numbers aren't too bad at all.

My favorite "standard" grocer was Lucky's Market, until they closed all Florida stores last month. I guess they just couldn't compete against Publix. We have so many choices here, but I mostly shop at Trader Joe's, MD Oriental Market, and Cedar's Middle Eastern Market. There is a Sprout's up in Clearwater as well as a Whole Foods, but I don't get up there that often. Other stores in my area include Winn Dixie, Walmart, Aldi, Save-a-Lot, The Fresh Market, Earth Origins, and Rollin' Oats. The later two are local health food stores. Lots of options, but I tend to make a lot of Asian and Middle Eastern food so the local ethnic markets are my go-to markets.

I've been having to go to Walmart (which I hate) and Aldi because of car issues but my favorites are usually Kroger, Fresh Market and Aldi.

We don't have a Publix and our local grocer was bought-out by Albertsons, so that's the main store and only choice we have -

Except! I do support my local co-op whenever I can. It is more expensive (they don't have the purchasing power of the big chains) but the food is fresher, and they support locally grown produce and local farms.

I also like that I can get many items in bulk that I can't at big chain stores. I love getting bulk bulgur, chickpeas and chickpea wheat, sunflower seeds, almonds, raw cashews and lentils in the amount that I want and with less waste from using reusable bags. The best part? Getting small amounts of spices and using them up before they grow old and stale. :)

That said, I cannot always afford to do that and will go to Albertsons much of the time.

What’s your favorite? We don’t have a big selection here so we usually shop at Publix and then our favorite produce stand. Yesterday we bought a lot of produce. But this morning we went to Walmart for toiletries etc. the aisles and end caps are full of cookies, chips, junk. People shuffling around in a stupor and leaning on their carts. Hubby remarked that it’s from all the junk they eat. Can that be?
