I guess it sounded funny - I meant that since I was back to 171.5 where I started on October 31 but was happy since it was less than it had gone up to...even though I hadn't lost anything since I started this challenge....HUH? emoticon

But yes, tracking is critical for me as well!

Did you mean you were happy or UNhappy that you bumped up to 175?

I bumped up too, and I need to get my self back under control and on with my journey.
Doing better at logging food - but still not consistent and that vital for me to have success.

In CHRIST I can!

Hi Oma, glad to hear from you. I will wait till tomorrow to post my weight - today it is up -- no exercise at all for a week due to weather plus I had a colonoscopy this week. Routine, everything fine. I thought I would show a loss following all that prep, but I think my body retained a lot of fluid and reacted to the stress. I really need a cold weather exercise plan!!

Hope you feel better!

Not feeling the best - and not doing the best on keeping up with everything - especially here. But I will post my weight. It is the least I can be doing. I don't have from the 14th as I didn't write it down, so it will be today's weight.

Nov 1 - 193.6
Nov 7 - 196.8 - yikes! However, I always weigh more after playing volleyball, and we ate dinner at 9pm last night.

I'm in Indiana so its in the 20s or low 30s here for a walk right now. I do use long underwear out on these walks and am warm as toast my biggest problem is there is something about my Keen winter hikers that is irritating a spot on my ankle. I have to be very careful how I tie them. Heading out for another walk today.

It is the eating in the kitchen for me also.

emoticon for both of us! For me it is the eating!! There is a saying, "Lose weight in the kitchen, get fit in the gym." I believe this to be true though I feel much better when I am up and moving more!!

Thank you for the skis - there is a bit of snow this AM and some predicted for tonight. It is in the 20's and takes a LOT of willpower to bundle up and go out for a walk with Maggie (our furbaby).

Way to go Sharon! Nothing like a quick response to that gain with a quick correction. Was it the eating or the exercise?

My week was right on track with exercise. I did manage to get in an extra 10-15 minute workout on two days. I'm trying to hop on the elliptical trainer for at least 10 minutes an addition to my usual regime. I tracked food 5 of 7 days and ranged from 1400 to 1800 calories.

Oct 31-168 lb.
Nov 7- 167.5 lb. Soso week eating, plenty o exercise. Fit in some strength training.

This is a sorry looking chart!
However, I will weigh in - and move on. I start every day off good. Log breakfast, and most of the time lunch, and then my evening rolls around and I get busy, have good intentions, etc.
I must say, I am wavering. Not maybe in the usual way, but I have spent a lot of time this year studying nutrition, etc, and I was doing really good with eating whole foods, etc. Once in a while I would have something processed. But I feel a bit stuck between raw food eating (not only, but more than half of the diet) and lowering sugar - not in processed sugar, but fruits.
I need some down time to just figure this out, but I don't see it coming as early as I need it, especially with all the activities picking up at church.
Anyway, that isn't an excuse, just telling you all where I am at.
Exercise is great. I have been running 3 days a week and playing volleyball once a week and doing some walking. That has not been my problem in forever.

Rough start for all? Me too. I know I have to keep the calories below 1400 to lose and I've been eating as much as 1700. Exercising like a champ though. Got caught at a pub yesterday and ordered something I thought would be healthy...it wasn't, but I didn't eat the chips.

Weigh in tomorrow.

Sharon - I can really relate to your struggle to get back to tracking. It really is hard to bring myself back to being accountable on paper after having been a free spirit for several months! Dave Ramsey says the person that's the hardest to control is the one in the mirror. He also says "Children live from whim to whim, adults devise a plan and follow it." I have lots of good plans in my head, but unless I DO them, I get no where. Tracking is just a tool for us to use - it helps us think things through, see our weak spots, and helps us to stay on the path to reaching our goal. So, think of it as a gift to yourself - a stepping stone to help you get where you want to be! All that said...

This morning, I dug out my chart notebook, and my monthly action chart, and took some time off work to figure out where I am and take a look at what I've been doing (or actually, not doing now for about 4 months). I had to go back all the way to the beginning of July to find a chart to copy and paste below. Is it any wonder that I find myself up several pounds when I have done basically NOTHING for4 months in a row? Enough! I've HAD it! I now have my chart pasted below and ready to fill in for you today.

I recently found a saying I like which speaks to my goal this year of FINISHING, rather than restarting over and over. It says "Though no one can go back and make a Brand -New Start...Anyone can start from now and make a Brand-New Ending!" For this reason, I am still counting days from the beginning of the year and find myself at Day 309 without much to show for it, but the year is NOT over yet! I said I would continue my day count, no matter how many days it takes! I still have over 90 days left til I reach Day 400, so I am going to try to make this the best 100 Days yet!

Started on January 1, 2014

Day #- - - - Date - - -Food - Cardio - - Deficit - - Steps - - Water - F/ V
Day 309 - - 11/5 - - - ?? - - - - ? - - - - - -(?) - - - -???? - - - - ? - - - -?

Start Wgt: 195
Day 100: 188

"Success is the progressive realization of a worthwhile dream."

"Success is the result of small efforts -repeated day in and day out! "

If you have enough strong days in a row, that makes a strong week. If you do it again, you値l have two strong weeks. Do it some more, and you値l have built a strong month. Keep it up, and you will have a strong year熔ne strong day at a time.

I am having a struggle with tracking - once I stop it is so hard to get back into the habit. I voted this morning, ran some errands, cleaned up my paperwork and tossed a ton of old magazines and did the shredding. Tomorrow back to swim class - I didn't go yesterday and I really miss it. My weight will be up for BLC weigh in for the first time! I have been a bit of a rebel this past week!

I will try to catch up on my chart tomorrow. I'm just too tired tonight after waking up before 5am.

Sharon - I am not eating vegan - but I do look for recipes that my DD can use with my grandblessings that have a lot of allergies - no egg, no milk, etc. So sometimes vegan recipes provide something she can give the kids. I also have been looking up things about acid/alkaline in the body and that has also gotten me to change some of my eating habits. We eat a lot less meat and a lot more veggies.
Here is the recipe. www.rebootwithjoe.com/raw-caramel-sl
ic
e-vegan-dessert-recipe/

This is the 3rd dessert from here that I have tried and they were all really good.

Okay, the weekend is over and I need to really get on this. I thought I'd start strong but all my exercise really made me hungry. I went on a bike ride that put all those sugary bites out there so they were my lunch. My meals were healthy. I have toget control of impulse eating and ofcourse I have a bundle of candy left from our miserable Halloween.

Well, I am ready to go to bed and it is only 8:30 - the time change of course! I have to take my mom to Ann Arbor or an eye appointment early tomorrow - picking her up at 7:45 and she lives about 20 minutes away. She has macular degeneration - almost blind in the left eye and fairly good in the right. She sees a retinal specialist every 6-8 weeks to make sure the right eye is ok. We've been doing this for about 7 or 8 years now.

I'm glad this team is up and running. I have lost fairly well since August but I tend to get off track over the weekends - hoping keeping up the streak will motivate me to watch the calories and increase the movement.

Yesterday we went for a walk around a school - followed the painted lines in the grass where the track team trains. The school has a lot of acreage in a rural and wooded area. We ended up in a forest area and then in someone's back yard! We had to backtrack and ended up walking for about 40 minutes! It was cold and windy but Maggie had a great team as she was off leash!

CP - you are one busy lady. I have forgotten where you live but it must be warm to have a bonfire. You have really been on the run! How's the new grandbaby?

OMA - I really don't care for Halloween either except for my birthday of course! We never go to any parties - our church has some type of event for the kids - it was so cold with snow showers this year - I don't know if very many got out. I'd be interested in the caramel bar recipe - what exactly does raw vegan mean? Are you eating vegan now?

Off to get ready for tomorrow! I know we will all hold the line for the upcoming holidays!!

Hi, ladies - I haven't been able to check in until now - it's been 4 very busy weeks and something going on each weekend, too! This weekend, I was in charge of putting on a surprise party for one of my friend's 50th Birthday. It was a huge surprise to her and a big success, but it took about a month of planning and this weekend was spent setting it up, getting the gift and wrapping it, making the food and decorating HER house where the party was held (her boyfriend took her north to 'look at pretty leaves' for the day to get her out of the house). Then, the party itself went til late last night, and after church today, we spent the afternoon going back to dismantle everything, put it all away and clean up her house.

Last weekend, we had a bonfire for a group of our church friends, and the weekend before that, my hubby and I went to the lake for the weekend to celebrate his birthday, and the weekend before that, we went to TN to help our son/DIL with some home remodeling they are doing. It's just been crazy and I'm ready for a little pause in all the activity! :) Obviously - I haven't tended to tracking or even exercising for quite some time and I'm looking forward to getting focused and having some accountability here again! I know it will be hard for me to rein it in after having no boundaries for awhile especially during the holidays, but man, do I ever need it! I will start up my chart tomorrow. Best wishes to all of us for great success over the next two months!

I normally weigh myself everyday, but yesterday I didn't....So, I will put today's weight in.

It was Reformation Day here - so an actual holiday. Halloween is getting more common, but many don't like it at all. No trick or treaters. We had a family of 6 over for coffee and for pizza. She brought a cake and fruit salad - just cut up fruit. I made raw caramel bars (no sugar, flour, eggs - it is vegan) It was good. This is the 3rd time I made a raw vegan cake. At least I can feel good about what I am eating.

Everyone must be out trick or treating...we don't get any little tricksters here as we are out in the boonies. Good thing since I can't resist chocolate candy. emoticon

We super-cleaned our living room and foyer this AM as we got new sofa and loveseat - then took a recliner chair to my mom's and set it up, then did some other errands. It is cold and rainy and we did not go for a walk - I am exhausted yet just realized I didn't do any intentional exercise! Will track my food tomorrow and add in.

How fun!
Here everyone takes their babies and young children out for walks, so that is how I get my exercise when I am babysitting. And, it doesn't matter what the weather is. Their mom's send rain gear when the weather is bad.

Wow, I just baby sat for my grandbaby today and yesterday. I didnt snack at all. This would really help me lose except I didn't get any real exercise either. We had a blast with her. She is sweet and social but doesn't go down for a nap well so there was a lot of chasing for me.

Hi - I'm in and decided to just wait and start with the team. I have been on SP since 2008 - lost 30 lbs., and then gained and lost 15 of it. (Sound familiar??) I have now lost all but 3 lbs. and hope to lose a few more by the end of October. I would really like to get to a healthy weight for me in the next 6 months.

I will be 68 the day before we start again emoticon . I am married for 48 years, no kids (but not by choice). I am retired and manage my almost 90 year old mom's care et al. She moved into independent/assisted living two years ago and we got her house sold last year!

We have a very sweet Australian Shepherd, Maggie. I am involved in some other SP teams and have made some lifelong friends here! Looking forward to getting this streak going again!

Hi I'm in again too. I've been with Sp since before it was free! It has been a nice tracking device for me and I also lost 30 pounds+ and have gained back 15. It is tougher to get that weight off with every year past menopause. One good thing is I don't have a house full of teenagers eating high calorie foods in front of me. I too am a grandmother of one 14 month old girl. She looks just like my son when he was a baby and it is all a throw back for me.

Motivation to eat correctly can be my biggest problem. My workouts are regular and vigorous although I will be putting strength training on my list for streaki g along with somr eating guides.

I am retired and in my work life I worked as an administrative assistant/CAD person, etc., I have also taught health and physical education. I live in Indiana but have lived in almost all of the capitols in the midwest.

Before our holiday challenge officially begins - let's get reacquainted!

I have been a member of SP now for going on 10 years. The most I lost was in 2005-2006 - losing 36 pounds doing this streak. Over the remaining years, I've gained that weight back going through menopause, but I really want to lose it again - I felt SO good at that lower weight! I'm 57 years old now, and I realize it's not as easy to lose weight, but it's not impossible either. I have been married to my high school sweetheart now for 37 years, and we have two grown sons, age 30 and 34. My first grandchild was born in August - a little girl named Emma Grace - she is adorable (of course) and the newest love of my life. I'm an administrative assistant and work 3 days a week. I enjoy scrapbooking as a hobby when time allows. I want to lose weight and reach my goal - I have NEVER reached my goal weight and would just LOVE to accomplish it before I get too old! I want to be healthy and strong, and of course, would love to buy clothes in a smaller size!

When our challenge begins, we will each post our daily tracking numbers as we've done here in the past, but we will also include a list of the Friday weigh-in dates. You can copy and paste the list of dates onto your posts throughout the challenge so we can all watch each others progress. Hopefully, with time and paying attention, we'll watch the numbers go down over the next two months! It's all about time and consistency!

Sharon - it's good to see you are back and tracking again - I need to do the same! I'm going out of town this weekend, then work again on Monday, but I will do my best to get back to business here on my day off next Tuesday. This is my home base, too...when I record daily here, I always lose weight! I'd really love to have our team get back together and really hit it from now through the holidays - it's always such a difficult season and I don't want to gain weight this year. Can't wait to get back to it!

I have been so busy with travel and then with company this summer. My company left on Wednesday, and I hope things are getting back to normal. The last two weeks were not good for either my exercise or my eating. I am back to plan - but there is damage to undo.

Hope you are all doing well.

CP - congrats on becoming a grandmother! There is nothing like it!

Congratulations CP on becoming a grandmother! I bet you can't wait to meet her and hold her yourself! Kirk's sister, Sam, is expecting a little girl in about a month. I can't wait to meet my niece!

After getting sick on Saturday night I was down to 208.8. I had a hard time eating for a few days but I have been making up for it the past two days. I need to get myself back on track and back on the treadmill! This will be our first weekend in awhile where we don't have any plans. I want to catch up on housework and yard work. Hopefully find time to relax before we the next 3 jammed pack weekends!

Big news - yesterday, I became a GRANDMA for the very first time! I'm just SO excited about my sweet new little granddaughter, Emma Grace! Sadly, she was born in Indiana and I'm in Georgia, so we've only seen pictures so far, but I'm so thankful to whoever created SKYPE and FaceTime so we can feel in a way that 'we are there'! She is just precious (of course) and looks just like her mama. My son, the bomb technician with the big muscles who has never held a doll in his life, now looks so tender holding that tiny baby in his big strong arms. I smiled when I saw the first picture of her - but seeing the picture of him holding her brought me to tears! We will be taking a trip to see her for the first time in about 3 weeks and I'm counting the days!

I'm holding my own at 185 right and working on the next pound, which I hope I can claim in a couple days when I reach Day 220!

Still working on getting rid of this chest cold. I haven't tracked my food for several days, but haven't been eating too much. The scale has been looking better, so I hope it holds til my next weigh-in day just 3 days away. Maybe I can bring it down even more by then! Hope everyone else is doing well and having a good weekend!

Hillary - that sounds like a jam-packed schedule! You are right, just take it one meal at a time. At each event, just take a minute to look over your choices and be selective - go heavy on the 'good' things, and take just a little of the other things...smaller portions, no seconds, etc. You can do it! Then just kill it during the weekdays! I know you can keep your downward trend going in spite of it!

Sharon - great to have you pop in! Sounds like you are doing great. Good job on your streak and good luck on your 100 Day Challenge! Keep us posted on how it's going!

As I mentioned in my previous post, I've been sick this week - caught a chest cold and have been out of work all week. Thus, the very low numbers on my chart on July 22. I didn't eat much or do anything - just slept most of the day. I am feeling much better now thankfully and will go back to work tomorrow. Yesterday, I finally hit my 10 pound mark at 185. Hopefully, this loss will hold and wasn't just a fluke because I was sick.

Hello! This is a quick drop-in...water aerobics and other things going on today. I am back after restarting over and over and over....well....CP, you get it! Anyway, I am on Day 9 of a 10 minute/day exercise challenge, and Day 3 of a 100 days of weight loss challenge and will be in charge of exercise on BLC26! That last one is ironic because exercise is my weakness!

I will be back more regularly - looking forward to meeting our new members.

Naesreality ~ Welcome to the team!

Oma ~ That's great that you took your juicer with you to France. It sounds like juicing is working for you.

CP ~ That's a lot of chickens! I bet they are fun to watch!

I was down another pound last week. Then we went camping over the weekend. I did good Friday, okay Saturday and not so good on Sunday. The important thing is I got back to it yesterday. The rest of my weekends this summer are packed with a bachelorette party, grad party, two baby showers, three birthdays, a summer bbq, a wedding and two concerts. It's going to be tough but I just need to remember to take it one meal at a time.

Oma - I haven't done it very often, but I haven't heard of adding chickens causing the others to stop laying? And for now, my new ones are in an adjoining pen, and not actually in with the laying hens yet, so I'll have to see if it makes any difference when I put them together in a month or two. I've never seen Fat, Sick and Nearly Dead but I've heard of it. We did watch one with my son/DIL called Forks over Knives or something like that that was also good.

I've caught a chest cold and so I'm dealing with that after just getting a good restart. I'm not going to let it throw me off track. I'm keeping the exercise low this first 10 days back on track anyway and will be working those minutes up over a few weeks time. I'm really getting close to 185 which will put me into the double digits - that's what I'm going for right now!

CP - When you add new chickens, does it affect their laying? We have friends who added some and the ones they had quit laying eggs. I haven't asked them in a while how they are doing now.
Have you ever seen Fat, Sick and Nearly Dead? That was the catalyst that caused us to start juicing. Although, I wanted to for years, but we never had the money for a good juicer. My oldest DS had cancer when he was 9, so I began doing a lot of reading on healthy eating, etc. But, with a large family, doing the juicing was next to impossible for us financially. There are so many health benefits to juicing.
My DD has been juicing since May and has lost 30 pounds. There are still healthy foods we eat, so it isn't (most of the time) exclusively juicing. I was doing a juice fast, so you will lose more quickly during those.
Now I am juicing 2x a day and eating a healthy dinner.

Naesreality - Welcome - we are so glad to have you! I look forward to working with you as we reach for our goals together!

Oma - sounds like you did well while you were in France - way to go! The juicing sounds really interesting. It took me 200 days to lose 9 pounds, and took you 11 days to lose the same amount! Of course, I'd say that 90% of that time, I wasn't being serious or consistent - so it's only my own fault. But still, the juicing obviously worked very well for you - hurray!

I'm not sure if I've told you that at the beginning of June, we got 6 new baby chicks. It's been so much fun watching them grow and change so quickly. This past weekend, I happened to find 4 more chicks through facebook about the same age as my others, so added them to the flock. Along with my other chickens who are 2 years old, I now have 16!! The little ones are still separated from the bigger 'girls' by a gate, and will be for another month or two. I love going out to sit by their coop/pen with a cup of coffee and just watch all their cute little chicken antics!

I am back. I was in France last week for a retreat. So, not on my normal program. I did get out for a run once and a walk once - both over 5K. But all that sitting in the car isn't good. I did take my juicer along and juiced daily. But I had other things I don't normally have. I did, however, avoid the snack table and only ate the nuts and some dates that I brought. The juicing and eliminating sugar has really helped with the cravings and it wasn't such a hard temptation - even though someone brought homemade cookies.

CP - I love the juicing. We make a carrot and fruit (usually apple or oranges) juice in the morning. Sometimes we add cucumber to that. It is 50%veggie or more. Then I make a green juice with celery, spinach, cucumber, ginger, lemon, and some kind of fruit, but this is about 80% or more veggie. Joe Cross has a "reboot" website that has a 3, 5, 10 and 15 day juice program. I did the 15 day one (actually only went 11 days) which is 5 days of a combination of eating and juicing. I loved all the food and wasn't hungry. I lost 9 pounds during those 11 days. I did cheat in a way as I eat some brazil nuts for the selenium and still had my coffee. But overall, it was great because I lost the vacation weight.
I will be doing the same thing again, starting this week when I get to the grocery store to stock up again. I got back yesterday and just picked up a couple things to get us through the weekend.

Welcome Naesreality! Nice to have a new "face" here!

OK - Day 200 and I'm down 9 pounds for the year. Of course, I would like to have achieved twice that much by now, but I'm not looking backward - I'm moving forward! Here's to the next 100 days and the best results yet!

Old Chinese Proverb - fall down seven times, get up 8...well, mine is probably more like fall down 700 times, get up 701 by now! But, I'm still here and still at it! I am almost to Day 200. So, I vowed when I started this on New Years Day that I am not going to quit my count of days until I reach my goal - I don't care if it takes me THOUSANDS of days to get there! I'm NOT starting over! I've made a complete mess of the last 100 days and this is the point I would normally opt for a 'fresh start'. But, I still have 3 days left and I'm going to do the best I can and then I'm going to knock it out of the park on the next 100 days! Easy to say, right - harder to do and follow through on, but that's my goal, so stay tuned! Please keep me accountable!

Hillary - I'm happy to see you are fired up and going for ONEderland - I know you can do it!

Oma - what were the results of your juice fast? You are back to eating food again now? I see you are back into the 180's - congratulations and it seems you must have had good results. I know that took a lot of willpower to do - I couldn't do it - but I admire your tenacity! To answer your earlier question - my new chicks are just to increase my flock - not to eat. My chickens are more like pets to me, and I could never kill one of them - they all have names! LOL I'm doubling my number from 6 to 12. I order 6 every couple years - and already have picked out what I want to order in 2016! :)

Linda - how is your visit going with your foodie DD? It's hard to have company in the house that eat differently than you do - especially when it's your grown kids! Good job on your new streak - I know it will help you develop better habits to conquer your weak spots. You ARE indeed the exercise queen! Are you doing a lot of bike riding this summer?

I will be posting regularly here again - please forgive my being so slack the past couple months!

Linda ~ Good job with your streak and good luck with your daughter!

I've done really well this week with just a small slip up on Monday. I still tracked and I was still in my range though. I made up for it on Tuesday with fewer calories and a longer workout. I weighed in yesterday down 2.2 pounds. My goal is to be back in Onderland before our vacation at the end of August. In order to meet this goal I will need to lose just over 1.5 pounds each week. I know I can do this.

I'm getting back to basics and a streak that includes:
1) stop munching nuts for snack (only use them in a meal)
2) only eat sitting down at the table, ie. stop eating while I cook
3) track food 3x per week

Started this streak on July 6: 6 on target days into the streak

I'm finding the food tracker VERY irritating with the pop up adds just interrupting everything I do and sometimes causing me to loose everything I've stacked under favorites. My laptop is the only contraption I use that I can control this with. All my touch screen apps are horrible or my fingers are just too big.

My foodie daughter is coming down from WI tomorrow for a couple weeks and will do her best to foil my plans. Luckily she is NOT a snacker but loves her sweets and heavy cream.

Great choices Hillary! When my dh stops at McDonalds I either get a SW salad with no dressing or treat myself to a small smoothie.

For me its all about habits. My exercise habits are fine. My husband likes to tease me that I'm an exercise addict so the eating is my downfall.

So far I have 3 days in a row establishing these new habits.

Hello everyone! emoticon

I have been tracking diligently for the past week. I was back down to 213 on Friday. I've been walking every day. I have kept my calories under 1500 every day with the exception of Saturday I was around 1700. Considering we made a last minute decision to go camping for the night I think I did really well. Yesterday on the way home Kirk stopped for McDonald's. I decided to go home and make myself breakfast instead of eating fast food.

I have been posting a lot of pictures on Tumblr.

I hope everyone had a great holiday weekend! emoticon emoticon

CP - nice to see you here again. You are sure getting a lot done! So, are the new chicks for eating? You still have your laying hens, don't you?

I looked back to the last time I posted a weight. Here is that chart.

Starting weight 1/1/2014 - 197
Day 10 - - - - 193.2 (- 3.8 pounds lost)
Day 20 - - - - 192.2 (- 1 pound lost)
Day 30 - - - - 191.6 (-.6 pounds lost)
Day 40 - - - - 192.4 (+.8)
Day 50 - - - - 190.4 (-2)
Day 60 - - - - 190.4 (0)
Day 70 - - - - 190.8
Day 73 - - - - 189.4! (new low this year!) Vegetarian/Juicing/Raw foods
And, finally in the 180's again!
Day 80 - - - - 3/21

Lost so far = 7.6

I think I will just put in a date here with a weigh-in and go from there.
July 1 - - - - - - 188.6

I'm not logging my food, but know that I am in my calorie range with the juicing. I began to think today that I need to have a solid plan in place after my 15 day juice fast so that I can continue to lose.

In CHRIST I can!

Hi, Ladies! It's July 1st and, based on several posts here and my own experiences, I'd say we are all getting back on track and looking at today as the middle of the year and wanting to make something of the last half of the year! I've been so busy every since Justin and Melissa were here at the end of May! Three days after they left, I got 7 new baby chicks that have been so much fun, but keep me busy. The past two weeks my husband has been on a trip to Texas for a class in crash investigation. While he's been gone, I've done some 'surprises' (major projects) including finishing a cottage garden, complete with planting 37 plants in there, had a new nest box added to the chicken coop and did a little 'decorating' inside, trimmed all the front hedges, got new furniture for the front porch, and had some tile work done around our tub, etc. Today, I'm touching up the kitchen cabs with some paint where it needs it! I just haven't paid much attention to food or exercise, but happily, I weighed in this moring at 186, which is down 9 pounds for the year so far - I'm quite sure from all the yard work and plant watering I've done over the last month because it sure wasn't because I've watched my diet. This means I've averaged 1.5 pounds a month for the year so far, but I know I can do so much better than that, and would like in the next 6 months to increase those numbers! I'm going to get back to water aerobics this week and start keeping track of my calories again and fill in my charts!

Good luck to everyone on your plans, too...lets be accountable and really get the weight-loss ball rolling!

Good job on getting back at it.
I am on day 9 of my juice fast and it is going fairly well. I have lost 9 pounds as of today, so an average of a pound a day. Remember, I gained 4.6 pounds while on my cruise and another 2 in the States, so it won't be like this constantly, but it is nice to have my clothes fit again. I am going for 15 days. The first 5 days were a combination of eating and juicing - but only fruits and veggies. The next 10 are just juicing.
I'll have to update a weight chart here soon.

Hello! Well, this is IT! I have been procrastinating too long. This is July 1 and half the year is ahead of me...I will get back to basics and back here to be accountable. I am on Day 11 of a streak to my birthday on October 30. I have been tracking food, sometimes just writing it down on a piece of paper. Going to help my mom get rid of some clutter in her little apartment. She took too much stuff with her when she moved 2 years ago - she wants me to bring to my basement, but I think a donation to a thrift store is a MUCH better idea! See you later... emoticon

I'm checking in after my world travels. Taking a cruise is NOT good if you are trying to lose weight!
I am on a 15 day juicing program and today was day 1 and it was a success.
Hoping to see those vacation pounds disappear in a hurry!

Hi ladies! emoticon

I'm still on SP tracking almost every day. I've had a deficit the last 7 out of 8 days. I was up 2 pounds after my week with grandma but I'm back at 214 again. I have been walking Hank here and there but my main source of exercise has been working out in the yard every night! I am feeling it too. I will weigh in again tomorrow to see where I am at for the week.

Hi! I also have overindulged on my holiday and will start checking in here each day from Wednesday when I am re-starting my diet and fitness programme. Love the monthly losing streak thread. I'm going to check in on that too. :-)

CP ...back after too many Spring vacations but oh I had fun and I did eat so I am up to 168 and getting back on track. I'll be trying to do a streak of low carb days here and days of just checking in. I'll start on June first officially and see what happens. I'm back to mega workouts on the bike, and lots of gardening. Wednesday and Thursday II felt like a got a workout with all the baby lifting and holding and climbing down on the floor and up with my grandchild. Her nanny sprained and ankle and I covered for her....what a great day of sweet smiles and rocking her to sleep. Do we ever get over our kids growing up and out of that cuddle stage?

Hi CP and Hillary - I am back - missed this team! We went to Branson to visit with my brother and I am having problems getting back into a healthy routine. Today is rainy and cool - started water aerobics this AM and am resting now. I have a pot roast simmering in my dutch oven.

I am starting my streak over today - it is 156 days till my birthday and this is Day 1:

Hillary - Your garden, and your stone bench/flower bed is BEAUTIFUL - I love it!!! And your Hank looks so much like my Molly! I'll try to post some pics of my new stone flowerbed sometime soon...but not this week! Have a safe trip and a fun time at your Grandma's. Let's see if we can both come through this coming week with a loss! I don't know about you, but that would be a miracle for me!

My son and his wife arrive today!! Yesterday was a busy day of preparation. I went to Lowe's in the morning and got some geraniums for the pots in front of the house (where I currently was sporting dead pansies), and couldn't resist picking up 5 tomato plants, 3 peppers and some cucumbers for the new bed as well. I came home and planted the geraniums, went to the commissary, then home to unload them, took a short nap, then up to make supper, trim the hedges, plant the veggies and clean up the kitchen and put away the groceries. Went to bed at 10:30 sore and zonked!

Just a few hours til I need to leave to go pick up the cake and decorate at 11 for tomorrow's baby shower, then heading home to see the kids, who will arrive shortly after lunch...so, I have to have the housecleaning finished and will be cooking up some food before I go to get a jump start. I really need to take a walk, too, as I know I won't have time later today. Yikes, I need more hours...guess I better get off the computer!

Have a great weekend, everyone!

CP ~ 186! That's great! Oh and I have pictures up on my blog of the yard. The link is in my signature.

We leave today for a visit with grandma for a week. My goal is to just have a deficit every day. With all the walking I will be doing with Hank I think it will be doable. Even if it is only 100 calories a deficit is a deficit!

Hillary - lots going on for you - way to track in spite of it! I hope you have a great time at your grandma's - stay focused while you are away!

This morning, I saw 186 on the scale - that's the first time I've seen that number as a new low this year. I say it cautiously though, knowing that tomorrow I have company arriving for 6 days and knowing how quickly that scale can jump back up with just the slightest dalliance! I think, as a matter of accountability for this 10 days, I will post my daily weight here so I have to face it each day, for better or for worse! If I know I have to tell you, maybe I will be more careful and less likely to throw in the towel!

Hillary - it's GREAT to see you! I'm so glad you're back! It sounds like you've really been busy, and I would LOVE to see a picture of your new outdoor fireplace, bench, flowerbed, etc! We just put in a new raised stone flowerbed all the way around our patio, so I'm excited to start planting, too! We are actually planning to do about 1/3 flowers and about 2/3's veggies in it. I know it will feel good for you to have a fresh start and get back on track. You can do it, girl!

Well, I reached day 140 on my chart. I'm back to what I was at Day 100, and now have 60 days left to see how much I can lose by Day 200. The next 10 will be a tough challenge - to lose weight, or even to stay the same will be hard with my son and DIL coming for a week and all the food I'll have around the house. I'll take it one day at a time and do my best to keep my notebook and exercise going and to keep posting here during their visit.

Wow it doesn't seem like it has been a month since I last logged on here! I'm glad to see you ladies are still here! We've sure been busy the last month. We found out that Sam is having a girl! So excited to have a niece! We also put in a fire pit and a retaining wall/bench/flower bed in. This year I finally put in my raised garden bed that I have been wanting to do for years now. So far I have planted tomato, cucumber, strawberry, cantaloupe and honeydew plants. I also have some seeds that I will plant this week. It rained all last week so I am a bit behind it planting.

I wan't really planning on tracking or getting back yesterday. It just sort of happened. I'm glad it did though because I need to change my habits. I just have been feeling yucky and I know it's from eating too much and not getting enough activity. I went grocery shopping yesterday and loaded up on veggies, fruits and greek yogurt. Planning on grilling chicken and veggies this week for dinners.

I have a bridal shower at the end of the month for an old co-worker. I would love to just be able to lose a few of these pounds I have put back on this last month.

Yesterday was a quiet day - church in the morning, a nap and a little shopping at Walmart in the afternoon, and some TV in the evening. Back to work today, and looking forward to my son and his wife coming on Saturday. I have a LOT to do between now and then - will just take it one day at a time and try to fit it all in. Mostly, just the three days of work, housecleaning and food prep...but also, wrapping gifts for the baby shower and getting the final things prepared for that, oh, and if possible, a little planting in the new flower bed!

Yesterday was a busy day - I did a lot out in the yard, including raking leaves in the morning for about an hour, and then another hour or two spent pushing dirt around while we filled our new flower bed with dirt in the late afternoon. I am SO sore and tired today I can hardly move! So, even though I didn't actually take a walk, I put down 45 minutes for cardio, figuring I probably expended at least as much, if not more, energy as a walk would have taken. I'm so excited to have the new flowerbed done...now I can start planting some things in it! This morning, the scale said 187 - which ties with the lowest I reached before my sister came at the beginning of March...now, on to some NEW pounds!

Happy Saturday! It's a beautiful sunny day here - with perfect temps and a great day to be outside! This morning, I did about an hour of raking and digging, included shoveling piles of leaves into a bag....so that was yet more exercise and lots of sweat (and hopefully, melted fat). We are making a 33 foot long flower bed that wraps around our new patio. Just waiting on the dirt to arrive now and then I can start planting.

Yesterday, I got in lots of steps - I did my 45 minute walk AND went to the commissary and then unloaded all the groceries from the car. The scale is showing good results since I got back on track earlier in the week, so it's going well, and I know I must be doing something right.

I hope you have a great weekend! Missing everybody!?

Yesterday, I was not as strong in my resolve at work and had some coffee/creamer and also a small fudgesicles - and I'm talkin' small - just 45 calories for the Weight Watcher, Jr size. But, I kept my calories at the lower end of my range overall and rode my indoor bike since it was raining outside, so it was still a successful day.

Good morning!

Linda - how big is your garden? I have always wanted to be a gardener, but haven't been very successful in my previous attempts over the years. However, my son is really into it and has given me the inspiration to try again. We just added a patio onto the back of our house and we put a stone flowerbed all the way around it where I am planning to plant some veggies. So, it won't be your typical garden, but more like a little raised bed. I have to find someplace to bring me some dirt now - I can't wait to get started!

Yesterday I faced one major challenge - Wilson's Bakery - the best bakery in our town! I had to go in to order a cake for my DIL's baby shower - and wow - the temptations in that place are crazy! The last time I was in there, I got a turtle pretzel and a peach fritter...this time I said NO to both! I went to water aerobics in the morning, and walked some eggs down to a neighbor's house in the evening, so I got in lots of exercise.

Oma - sounds like a wonderful month ahead for you! We'll miss you here, but have a great time and please check in in you get a chance and let us know how you're doing! I know you must be so excited for both of these trips!

Yesterday was a very good day! I used my food tracker again for the first time in a long while, took a walk during my lunch break at work, got in all my water and F/V's, etc. It's amazing how much better things go when I have intention and am paying attention! In addition to this, I avoided the coffee pot in the morning (because of the cream/sugar I need to drink it), avoided the fudgesicles the office has in the freezer in the afternoon, and when a sweet co-worker gave me a praline treat she brought back for me from her vacation, I thanked her profusely, and then quietly threw it in the trash later! SECRET VICTORY! The scale rewarded me this morning with an initial 2 pounds off - woohoo!

Hello!
CP - thanks for sending the spark mail. I'm sure I lost this thread way down on my e-mail somewhere.

I have been doing fairly well, although, not counting calories. I am still juicing, eating lots of fruits and veggies, cut way back on meat, sugar and processed foods.
I am also keeping active playing volleyball 1 day a week (2 hours) and running 3 days a week.

Saturday I had a 5K and ran my fastest time ever - which isn't very fast, but I reached my goal of doing a 5K under 40 minutes. This was my 5th 5K. I have done one 10K and am considering another in September.

I am leaving on Wednesday for a 3 week trip to the States. I have one grandblessing that I have not seen yet and she is almost 6 months old!
Then I will be home for a week and then we are going on a cruise to Norway - which has been a long time dream of mine.

My challenge will be food for sure. I hope to be able to get to the store early in my trip and pick up a bunch of fruits and veggies so I can still eat healthy. Some of my kids are conscious of eating healthy, others not so much.

I have been busy studying things on foods and it only makes me want to eat healthier.

I will likely not check in for a while, but will try to check in between trips.

In CHRIST I can!

Good morning! I hope you are doing well and had a wonderful Mother's Day weekend!

We went to our son's house in TN for 4 days and had a wonderful time. I didn't do well on my plan - didn't eat well (or maybe I should say we ate TOO well), and I didn't take any walks. I rebuilt the stone flowerbed around our patio last Wednesday, and quite honestly, I could hardly move for the next three days! Saturday it was raining, so aside from our grandson's graduation we stayed indoors the rest of the day.

I won't say it was all a wash, though, because while I was there, my DIL gave me a book that re-emphasized the dangers of too much sugar in one's diet, and I also read a book on the philosophy of finishing what you start! Both of these books have made an impact on me and will affect how I do things going forward.

The next 10 day chart will look much better than the one below.

Hello, friends! I apologize for being MIA for so long. It's been my best intention to get on here and catch up, but just haven't followed through and DONE it...and, thus it has been for my diet as well, as I'm sure you have probably suspected! This morning, I read your posts going back to my last post near the end of March and it seems like we all have been struggling with different circumstances, but similar battles! Linda - sounds like you had some really great trips away - glad you are back and ready to get rolling again! Hillary - you've done fantastic this year...keep it going, girl! Oma - you've been busy, as usual - keep us posted on your progress with your new juicing plan!

I won't go into all the gory details, since the time away has been so long, but suffice it to say, I let my guard down in March when my sister came and we also took that trip to our son's house in TN immediately following her visit, and I let a couple WEEKS off plan turn into a couple MONTHS off plan. I have restarted several times and done 'OK' here and there, and have seen the scale go up and down as a result. But, as of this morning, I am sitting at 188.5, which is up only 1.5 from my low this year of 187. I've wasted some time, but, I still have a lot of time left in this year to move forward!

During my time OFF, I crossed the 100 Day mark, and was down 7 pounds for that period, although I've gone up a little bit since then. I have 75 days left in my second 100 Days...I know I can have a good loss if I get going again now. Last week, I started water aerobics again for the summer, and it was fun to get back in the pool!

We are taking another trip to TN this weekend, to celebrate a college graduation, and also Mother's Day. It was tempting to just say I'll regroup and start again NEXT Monday - but, where would THAT get me? Just up more pounds, so I'm here TODAY and I'll do the best I can on our trip to see if I can't bring the number down for Day 130's weigh-in next Monday.

HI I am back....went to Hawaii for 2.5 weeks and another in CA and took two weeks to get back on here. So much to do, so little time and one of the computer harddrives crashed.

Hillary it looks like you've been successful at the losing here. Goes to show what a regular check in will do for you. Congratulations. Do you have any secret strategies to share?

Well I came back at the same weight at when I left but I'm up two pounds since getting home. I'll be recommitting in May but that month is going to find me visiting relatives and friends so it will be nuts again.

I'm getting my veggie garden in. Anyone else on this forum gardening? I'm hopeful that my new shoots won't get chomped down by the resident bunny because I've been finding bunny fur around the yard. I think we have a sleuthing coyote out there or it could be an owl. Either way I appreciate their efforts to keep the population down.

Hey Michigan is really looking swamped? Are all the lake levels up? A friend of mine sent me a picture of an "iceberg" in on of the Traverse Bays.

It is quiet here....I have been MIA as well. But I joined BLC25 and will be kicking it off again on April 30. I may not keep my stats up here as I'm not sure how much posting I will need to do to the challenge. But I will check in here more often!!

Oma - Thank you Hank does seem better. We took him to my fiance's sister's house on Saturday to play with their doggy.

I did better this weekend with activity. Kirk and I went to the park on Saturday for a walk. Yesterday we spent the afternoon cleaning up the yard. Food was a different story but I did stay away from fast food. I think I did good tracking everything just could have made better choices. Somehow I still managed deficits each day.

Where do the days go?!
I have been super busy as I have been helping a lady that is suffering from depression. It is very draining. I still got out for 3 runs this week of at least 5K each, and my normal volleyball, so at least that is good. I need to bite the bullet and log all my food. I haven't been consistent with that, so no wonder no weight is coming off.

Sharon - nice to see you and hear of the inch loss. Where are you going on vacation?

Hillary - hope Hank is doing better.

In CHRIST I can!

Kirk took Hank back to the vet yesterday afternoon. He was concerned that his gums looked pale. The vet said everything looked normal and to continue on his steroids and antibiotics. We took him for a 20 minute walk yesterday afternoon.

It felt so good to workout yesterday. I was in such a funk and I think it's because I didn't workout over the weekend. Hank seems to be doing better. We are switching his food to rule out food allergies. I think the steroids have helped with him not scratching his ears so much. I have been doing a lot of blogging on Tumblr:

Hillary - I certainly hope you find out what is happening to your dog and can get some treatment. That is so distressing! We have been through it!

I am exercising but the eating is a bit out of control so I am not even trying to log it for these first few days. Good news is that I have lost 1 inch around my waist in the past few months. Must be the swimming. I ordered swim fins, gloves and hand buoys so I can continue my water workout when we are on vacation.
