Got the spark mail notification, and I need to get back to work on my health.
I just got home from the States on Tuesday, after being gone 4 months. I traveled with a juicer, a big box of food, a cooler and a dehydrator. I still gained. We were in the car a LOT, and I didn't get in the exercise like normal.
I did do a 6K turkey trot with my daughter.
I did have the privilege of meeting Sharon when I was there. What a sweet lady.
Hope everyone has a blessed New Year.

In CHRIST I can!

Yes - we are making 9 month follow up appointments so no reasonable end in sight. I have the feeling he will work until he drops. I'm not excited about that prospect, so I hope I am wrong.

I'm starting a new 2016 streak. Tomorrow!! 16 has always been my favorite number. Time to get it to work with me!!

Karen - whew - it sounds like it's been very hectic for you. I know I'm ready for things to settle down a little bit and life to get back to normal, whatever that may be! Your boss sounds like quite a guy and a real go-getter! You may be working for quite awhile longer if his current pace is any indicator! My boss is in the process of pulling back and turning over the reigns of the company to his successor - I think it's only a matter of months by all indications and if my hunches are right, I'm thinking perhaps by the end of May our office might shut down, as the new headquarters will be in another state.

Wishing everyone the very BEST for the New Year. Thanks for sticking by me this past year and being such a great encouragement on this weight-loss journey. I'm really looking forward to the coming year - it's not about perfection, it's about PROGRESSION and I know we can all make progress and reach many goals along the way as we work together!

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!

If you have enough strong days in a row, that makes a strong week. If you do it again, you’ll have two strong weeks. Do it some more, and you’ll have built a strong month. Keep it up, and you will have a strong year—one strong day at a time.

Don't worry CP - I did very little at all on Spark! It has been a crazy season. After my trip to Seattle there was Thanksgiving. Then my son's birthday. Then getting ready for Christmas. Then really, Christmas. In between all of that I picked up a sore throat and some coughing I am still fighting, but to a smaller degree.

We took our two sons and their girlfriend/fiance to TransSiberian Orchestra, and my husband and I went to the Holiday San Antonio Symphony for a Christmas concert. And of course we have in-laws in town, so it was a very hectic season.

Your life sounds like mine - my boss is 78 and a practicing dermatologist. He goes to the gym after work every day and is very active, so no telling when he will retire. So as long as he works, I work too. Right now he's at Disneyworld with his extended family and being his personal travel agent is also one of my jobs.

Next year he's going to San Francisco for the Carmen Opera, on a trans-Canada train trip, to Colorado to go tubing, and whatever else he can think of. I haven't taken a long vacation with my husband in 10 years and this year, I'm going to plan a grand vacation for the two of us while they are in Canada. My husband will be done with his PhD in a few months, after 4 years, and we all certainly deserve a vacation.

So - lots to stay healthy for and get thinner for. Mostly I think it's food control. Some days are better than others. This holiday season has been tough. I try and eat high fiber low sugar. No processed foods. Some days are better than others....

Anyway - let's make it happen!!

Karen - it's GREAT to see you again - I've missed you! How could you forget about us???? - LOL - well, I'm glad you remembered about us again, anyway - it's good to have you back! I just figured you had been busy getting ready to visit your sister, and then after your trip got wrapped up in the craziness of the holiday season. How was your visit to your sister's house, btw? I think you can be VERY proud of losing 20 pounds this year - that's a huge accomplishment! What would you say were the biggest/best things you did to achieve that? It sounds like you have a big year coming up and those special events will give you great motivation to reach your goal!

I'm working this week - Mon - Thurs, but will get off early on Thursday and then have a 3 day weekend. It's a nice quiet week at work with most people on vacation, so I'm getting a lot done there - catching up some things, and getting set up for the new year on other things. This COULD possibly be the year my boss retires and my job will come to an end when that happens - so when HE retires, I retire, too! I don't know WHEN, but I'm SO looking forward to being a free woman!

I've been far from perfect over the past couple weeks - 2 weeks that were slam packed with parties and eating out, and then company for a full week at my house, too. But, I have done so much better than in past years handling each situation - keeping up my charts and although not counting calories, I did cut everything in half and haven't felt stuffed yet. I am disappointed that in spite of that, the scale still jumped 3 pounds this week - but, I know it could have been much higher if I hadn't made the effort I have. Hopefully, those 3 pounds will leave as fast as they came!

Merry Christmas everyone!! I lost my spark notice for this thread evidently, and promptly forgot about it. I have had a VERY unorganized eating plan for the holidays. Some days I didn't even check myself at all.

However, I'm 20 pounds down from last year, so I'll take it.

I'm starting my track and talk again and will post my Friday weight this next year. With a wedding coming up in November, my younger son graduating from college and commissioning into the Air Force in May, and taking a vacation with my husband in August, there are a lot of reasons to make progress.

Onward!!

Good morning - it's Wednesday! Sad to say, I have to go to work today, and I sure wish I was staying home! Our kids are going to Atlanta today to be with Melissa's side of the family and visit Emma's great-grandpa who is turning 85 today.

We've been having a great time - Emma has stolen our hearts - especially when she puts up those little arms asking to be picked up or tells us a 'story' with that cute little jibber-jabber! We all managed to get out of the house yesterday for a 30 minute walk around the neighborhood - that was good for everyone, especially our little dog who has been locked up back in our bedroom for most of each day except when Emma is taking her nap. The eating is going pretty well so far, at least I think so! I did gain +.7 of a pound at my weekly weigh-in yesterday, but, that was my first little gain in over a month. Considering everything that's been going on this holiday month, I'm OK with that and will just keep working on eating as lightly as I can - just 4 days of big temptations to go.

Good morning - my goodness - it's pouring outside - raining cats and dogs, like my mama used to say!

Justin and Melissa got here yesterday morning about 11 - and of course, little Emma. She brought instant life to our house! It's amazing to watch her explore everything - in a very energetic and enthusiastic way! She can pretty much dismantle things in a matter of minutes - and has such fun doing it! But, between a grandpa and two grandma's - she's got plenty of attention and care. Her smile lights up the room and her little belly laugh just cracks us up. She did very well on the trip yesterday - on both car rides to and from the airport, and in the plane, too - no crying or fussing - she was a perfect baby. And, she's done well sleeping in the little crib we have for her here, which was a concern - but she took a nice nap in it yesterday afternoon, and then went right to sleep last night at 7 in it and hasn't made a peep in the last 10 hours - so I'm praising the Lord for that!

I'm doing my best weightloss-wise, but with the final shopping I did this weekend, both for gifts and food, and then the house work - my feet, back and neck are killing me - so I didn't take a walk yesterday - my feet just couldn't do it. My heel pain was pretty bad yesterday and I was doing good just to stand on them to do the cooking I needed to do. I held back on the eating as much as I could, but I still think I ate more than I would in a normal day. I made one of my favorite meals for our dinner last night, the meal I always used to ask my mom to make for my birthday dinner so that was a big temptation - and to top it off, key lime cake. Again, I had only the tiniest piece of cake, only a few bites...but, that's still more than I should have. It's going to be such a hard week eating-wise...I guess I should turn that around and say that I need to eat WISELY this week! If it's to be, it's up to ME - so I need to stay focused and keep trying to find ways to cut back, while still enjoying this very special week of Christmas! I can't throw in the towel or I'll be in trouble! Every day is a new chance to make good choices and find the chance to get in some movement here and there.

My fit-bit showed that I got in 37 ACTIVE minutes yesterday, even though I didn't take a walk or do exercise of any kind. I guess just getting the final cleaning/laundry/baby-proofing I did yesterday morning before they came, and then maybe playing with Emma and chasing her around, and the time on my feet in the kitchen for meals must have counted for ACTIVE to my fit-bit!

I hope that YOU are enjoying your Christmas week so far - Emma is certainly making our Christmas MERRY and BRIGHT this year!

Hello - Christmas is fast approaching!

Linda - how wonderful that your daughters can both be with you - and you have a son as well, right? How many grandkids will be there? Your house will be hoppin' indeed! It's very easy for that scale to jump up a couple pounds, isn't it?! I wish it was as easy for it to drop them. I've done some spin classes in the past - that is really a workout! It sounds like a perfect fit for you during the winter, especially since you already like to ride bikes so much!

I was really busy at work this week - on the pay-period that just ended, I got 88 hours for the last two weeks! This is for a 'part-time' job! I worked from home on the board books all day last Tuesday (my first day off), and then on Friday, went into the office on my second day 'OFF' for another full day. I stopped at the commissary on my way home at 5 and shopped until they closed at 7:30, then unloaded and put away groceries until about 9 pm and then went straight to bed!

Yesterday, I focused on house cleaning and laundry, and went to WA. I asked my friend if she wanted to go, but she said she wasn't going. But, when I finished the class and was about to leave, she walked in and said she had decided to just walk some laps in the pool. So, I stayed another 45 minutes and walked laps with her- getting a total of 105 minutes in the pool!

Our son, DIL, and little Emma arrive tomorrow just before noon. I have so much left to do! We'll go to church this morning, and then come home and attack the gift wrapping. My scrapbook room is full and I don't even know what all is in there at this point. We'll turn on the Christmas music and have a gift wrapping 'date'. I have some more food I need to get also, so I'll try to do that this afternoon, too...and if there's any time left, maybe squeeze in a nap!

I really like that you joined your workout buddy for the aerobics class. That is what workout buddies are for and I'm sure your work got done.

Yea for grandbabies, have fun with your kids. My husband is working on a little rocking chair for lur 2 year old granddaughter. We are expecting my daughter from CA in a few days and my other daughter from MN just before Christmas. It gets hopping around here and eating healthy will have to be a priority for me. One daughter brings many many dozens of cookies.

This morning I was at 165 so I really need to control it. I've been going to a spin studio for their free promo classes and find I handle it pretty well without any soreness so I might sign up for a spin class after the holidays. I'm still getting my swims in. Sunday it was so warm here we hosted a Holiday Christmas lights ride and refreshments. Sunday nights are really peaceful out there.

Enjoy the season and eat within reason!

Hi - Linda, I didn't realize had posted. I'm glad you are going to stick it out here with me. I know you can get that 162 - that's a very reasonable goal!

This past week was such a busy one - just like a whirlwind both at work and home! Last week, I had Christmas events 4 out of 5 days! I won't go into all of it here, but lots of eating out and other tempting food situations. I think I handled them pretty well, cutting most things in half, tiny bites of treats, and making other meals smaller to balance out the bigger meals. I've also tried to get in some exercise whenever possible. So far, so good on the scale - holding my own - tomorrow is my 10 day weigh-in, so we'll see how it goes!

Yesterday, I was home - but working from home most of the day, so didn't get any of my own stuff done that I would liked to have been doing. I went to the chiropractor first, then came home and started working on the board books. I didn't think I'd be able to fit in Water Aerobics, so I decided as a way to squeeze in some exercise, I would start setting my kitchen timer for 1 hour segments and take a 5-minute walk to the end of the street every hour. I did it 6 times during the day for a total of 30 minutes - little bits add up! It was good for both my mind and body to get away from the computer and get out in the fresh air and sunshine and get my blood circulating! My poor little dog, Molly - she kept looking at me like I was crazy when I'd ask her if she wanted to go for yet another walk - she never gets more than one a day!

As it turns out - a friend called me at 5:30 and wondered if I was going to go to the 6:30 water aerobics class. I had more work left to do, but decided I could finish after I got back - so I jumped in my suit and off I went! I got home about 8:00 and worked a couple more hours til 10:30. So, all totaled for the day, I got in 90 minutes of exercise, and over 8 hours of work!

The Christmas countdown is on - our son/wife and 16 mo. old granddaughter arrive on Monday morning. I can't wait - and yet I have SO much left to do, and still have two full work days to fit in as well today and tomorrow. But, then I'll have Friday - Sunday off so can do my final push then of shopping, wrapping, cleaning, getting groceries and trying to get a head start on the cooking. The joy of the season - I just want to try to enjoy every minute, even the hectic ones!

Hey Cruise...you are doing fabulous on the exercise! I've been around you for quite a while and inthink this is your best effort with it. Now most importantmis to keep the eating in line.

I find I get in trouble the most this time ofmyear when I let someone else cut my serving. If it is on my plate I have trouble NOT eating it. There is nothing wrong with sampling those foods you really want. Keepmit tiny and revelmin the taste. That is my strategy. Luckily I'm not in a working environment where goodies are trotted out every day so my sweets will be limited to about a 10 day period around Christmas.

I'll try and stick it out here with you. I'm at 163 and hoping to get to 162 and holding that until January's push.

My streak continues of over 130 dayschecking in to sp.

Good morning - it's my weekly weigh-in day! I'm happy to report another small loss - that makes 3 in a row! This week I lost .7 down to 189.3. The trick is going to be getting a loss this coming week with four Christmas events - but I sure would love to continue the little 'streak' I have going and make it 4 in a row! I'm gonna try! There is no TRY - only DO or DO NOT says Yoda - so....I guess I better just DO IT!

I had exercised 9 days in a row through Sunday, so yesterday, I decided to just take a rest - actually, I didn't even get home until 8 pm from work (I stayed late to work on some Christmas crafts with co-workers) and so I didn't mind at all taking a REST from it for a day.

How are you doing? I'm missing our interaction here - I know everyone is so busy, but I hope you'll make some time to post. It makes such a difference for staying encouraged, motivated and accountable. Stay strong through the holidays - let's end up with a loss this year instead of a gain!

Good morning - it's Monday and the weekend flew by so quickly! This weekend, the focus was on Christmas shopping. I think I got most of the shopping done and now for the wrapping!

The coming week will be a busy one - with my 3 work days, plus Thursday night our boss is taking us out for dinner after work. Then Friday, out for dinner and the Nutcracker after work with my co-worker girls. Saturday evening is a Christmas party at a friend's house, and next Monday is our office brunch/gift exchange. So, lots of temptation in the coming week! I will be off on Tuesday and Wednesday this week, and will go to WA both days.

10 day weigh-in - lost 1/2 pound. Not a lot, but at least it went in the right direction - and will just try to keep it going in that direction in the coming 10 days!

How was YOUR weekend, and what's going on for YOU in the coming week?

Hi - I didn't get to my report this morning, so I'm doing it tonight. I had a busy day at work and now I'm in my jammies watching a Christmas movie before I go to bed. I ate within my range and got in 40 minutes of exercise today, a short walk before work, and a bike ride while watching the Christmas movie after work.

Part of having a successful month is going to be staying focused - in spite of the challenges and the chaos of the season. We will have to be INTENTIONAL to win - one day at a time! I hope you had a good, on-plan kind of day!

Yesterday I got a LOT done at work - it was a good day. However, I didn't get home until 7:30 and stopped at Burger King to pick up some supper with a couple coupons. I got a whopper junior, a chicken sandwich and a small fry. Thinking that if I removed the top bun from the whopper junior and took off the bun completely from the chicken sandwich, I'd be doing pretty good. I only had popcorn for lunch at work and a granola bar and an apple for a snack, so hadn't eaten very much during the day...do you know when I added up that meal that it came to over 1000 calories?!?! Crazy - I won't do that again!! The fries were 340 calories alone! My final total for the day was 1800 - which is my max, so thankfully, I was just barely in my range. I did ride the bike for 30 minutes while watching a Christmas movie in the evening.

Hi, Linda - it's GREAT to see you! Congratulations on that new little Thanksgiving bundle of joy - there couldn't be anything finer to be thankful for - how fun! I've missed you and I'm so glad you posted!

We have one month to go to complete the year - how will the year end? I think the choices we will make in the next few weeks could make the difference of about 5 - 10 pounds for our final results! Think of it like this - if we can manage to stay the same, that's the usual five Christmas pounds we DIDN'T gain. If we can do even better and LOSE 5 pounds, that would really be the equivalent of a ten pound difference!! For me, that would result in 185 instead of 195! What a difference - well worth working for! If five pounds seems like a lofty goal - don't throw in the towel - even 1 or 2 pounds lost would be a great accomplishment - especially in light of the pounds NOT gained just by putting forth the effort!

Hey - I know Christmas month is a challenge - but we can take it on, one day at a time, one meal at a time, one temptation at a time! We need a GAME PLAN! Each evening, take a few minutes to think through your day - what did you do well? What could you have done differently? What's happening tomorrow - and how can you handle it well? Where can you squeeze some movement into the day? Your day might not allow for a 30 minute walk, but it might allow time to throw your jacket on and walk to the end of the street and back? Maybe a little dancing to some Christmas music? Small decisions will add up to make the month - whether they are good or bad decisions is up to us!

Sorry I've abandoned the feed the last couple weeks.

Ive managed to have a streak of 125 days logged at SP but sometime it was a very quick chexk in. It helps keep my motivation in the right place.

Weight was held to 162 as of last Tuesday but that has probably moved up.

Thanksgiving blessed us with our new granddaughter while we held vigil for two nights with the two year old. What a great pajama party we had. Her momma had a long workout this time. We set up my daughter's doll house with little characters to play with and she was very busy in imaginative play. We will decorate it for Christmas soon too.

Made TG dinner right out of the magazine Fine Cooking and it was the best ever. I'll have to save that one. It even had nutrition information in the back but I haven't had ti e to figure it into my tracker.

Sunday afternoon now - we went to the early service at church, then home for a late bkfst and then turned on the Christmas music and started decorating! Little Emma is comin' to town!

Yesterday was a better day - I got back to tracking and went to water aerobics, too. The scale repaid me with a nice drop this morning, although still not back to my pre-Thanksgiving weight. But, I have a couple more days before our weigh-in on Tuesday to hopefully coax it to keep going in the right direction.

I'm looking forward to hearing from you about how your Thanksgivings were - and the time with your families all home? How did you do with eating - did you find any time to squeeze in some exercise?

It's back to work for me tomorrow - sad to say, but true. :( Perhaps, it could be the last December at my office though, by next year, my job may be gone - so I'll enjoy it for all it's worth this year! Tomorrow, I'll decorate my cubicle and we'll turn on the Christmas music for the rest of the month.

Hi - it's Saturday morning - only 2 more days of freedom before I head back to work. I still haven't gotten to the paper piles on the desk, so that is my focus for today, along with decorating for Christmas. Mark got our outside lights and nativity scene up yesterday and I took down and packed up all the Fall decorations from inside and outside the house.

I didn't do very well yesterday, and I'm disappointed in myself. I didn't eat right, I didn't count or track anything, and I took a nap instead of going to WA...and to top it off, I made brownies last night at Mark's suggestion instead of saying no. I did better on Thanksgiving Day - agh! So - today is another day and I'll get back to tracking and make getting to WA a top priority!

Good morning - it's Black Friday - is anyone going shopping today? Not me - I hate those crowds! Mark and I are staying home sweet home and putting away Thanksgiving decorations and putting up Christmas decorations while we listen to Christmas music!

How was your Thanksgiving? We had a great time with 4 couples of our best friends. Tons of food, conversation, laughter and games! I had one plate of food, and later one small plate of dessert. I drank 10 glasses of water and even managed to take a 30 minute walk.

Today, I'm going to drink LOTS of water to flush out all that salt from yesterday's foods, eat some fruit for snacks, veggie soup for lunch and a big salad for supper to balance the heavier foods from yesterday and go to water aerobics to burn some of those extra calories off!

Happy Thanksgiving!!! emoticon The day has arrived - it hardly seems possible - and yet it's here already!

I'm sure when you girls come back to post, you are going to be totally bored silly by all of these posts, so I'll try to keep it short!

I had another good day yesterday - tracking, exercising and staying accountable has made such a difference this week. The scale has been moving slowly downward, and I need to be very careful today as I don't want it to jump up tomorrow morning - which is a 10-day weigh-in. It's not good timing for that weigh-in day to fall on the day after Thanksgiving, but I'm going to do my best today in spite of it.

HAPPY Thanksgiving Day to everyone - I hope you have WONDERFUL day with your family. We have so much to be thankful for!

HI - I know everyone is very busy this week! I'd love to hear about your plans for Thanksgiving tomorrow and what you've been up to!

Yesterday was a GREAT day for me! I got so much done and made good food and exercise choices all day, too! I went to the chiropractor in the morning, then home to work on the house. I got our bed changed and put on a new Christmas quilt that I found at GW for only $10 a couple months ago. I got everything dusted and the wood floors cleaned, worked on laundry and cleaned up my scrapbook room. It's far from being all done, but it certainly looks SO much better and I'm happy with it for now. I made a big pot of veggie soup and, in addition to having it for dinner, I froze up the leftovers in small containers for future lunches and snacks. I ended the day by going to the evening water aerobics class. I counted my calories and got in over 13,000 steps for the day - woohoo!!

The best part is that today is another day off - so I can continue working on the house. Today's focus is going to be the paper piles and the shelves on the desk. It's an eyesore, to be sure - and, it sits right in the living room where we have to see it all the time. So, I'm pulling out my garbage can and going to it! I'll go to the 2 pm WA class today - my goal is to go there 4 times this week (Tues, Wed, Fri and Sat) - one down, three to go!

Have a wonderful day!

Good Tuesday morning - it's my weekly weigh-in day and I'm happy to say I lost -.7 of a pound! I know it's not a lot, but I'll take it and my goal is to lose again this coming week and make it two in a row, INSPITE of Thanksgiving!

I'm OFF now until next Monday - woohoo! Of course, I brought my work computer home with me and will do a little work from home each day, but, at least I'll be HOME! Today is cleaning day! I'm going to focus on getting my scrapbook room (aka the hoarding room) cleaned up, decluttered and organized, and go through the paper piles by my desk. The latter job will probably be a project for the whole week, but the SB room I really want to change today and surprise my husband by the time he gets home!

The next few weeks provide the greatest challenges of the year, but by applying some thought, some of the helpful hints and tricks we've shared throughout the year, some good choices and some extra determination we can beat the normal holiday weight gain and end our year with a loss!

What is your game plan for the coming week? My game plan is to write down everything I eat in my notebook, whether I count it or not, just writing it down will keep my head in the game and help me to think twice about what goes in my mouth. I'm going to get some exercise everyday - walks, bike rides when I watch TV, and go to WA 4 times this week. I want to beat the odds and LOSE weight this week - that's my goal! On Thanksgiving day, I'm going to eat only what looks really good to me and cut it in half, skip what isn't that special (like rolls/butter), eat only 1/2 of ONE dessert, and not go back for seconds.

Hi again! A few days ago, I joined the Fit and Fiber Full challenge on SP. I know I won't be able to follow it perfectly or do all of the activities, but I thought maybe it would give me a healthy focus over the next month of holidays and perhaps I can learn or be reminded of some things that will help me in my weightloss journey next year. Yesterday, the lesson was about smart snacking. We often snack at random - when we feel the urge to eat we just grab something - and it's not usually something healthy. One thing they have emphasized so far is to be prepared - have some healthier, pre-portioned snacks available so when that urge hits, you can eat something with health value to it and skip the foods with empty calories. Here are is a list of some snack ideas:

celery with peanut butter
hummas with veggie sticks
hard boiled eggs
yoghurt and fresh fruit
trail mix
nuts
pickles
fresh fruit
smoothie
half of a turkey or tuna sandwich on high fiber bread
fruit and cottage cheese
apple and string cheese
small bowl of steel cut oatmeal/berries
bowl of all veggie soup
a portion of your previous meal that you save for later

Perhaps you have other high fiber, healthy snack ideas - if so, please share them with me as I'm hanging this list on my fridge and would love all the ideas I can find!

Hi - how's everybody doing? It's such a busy time of year!

I had a really busy week at work . As it turns out, I got 77 hours in over the last two weeks, which is 17 hours more than I normally put in. The extra time is helping me make small strides at catching up a bit at work, but of course, making me fall behind at home and certainly not making it easy to fit in much exercise or tracking. I think I'm trying to fit in the work of a full-time job into a part-time schedule and that's why I can never catch up at home or at work. But, it's job security, right? And, a year from now (or maybe even 6 months from now) I may be retired (my job will end when my boss retires and he's 74)! I stayed home on Thursday, and I'm glad I did. I got our groceries for the rest of the month and can now enjoy my days off more in the coming week. Including both weekends (this one and the next one) I will now have 8 out of 9 days off. I only have to work Monday and then I'm off til the following Monday - woohoo!

I am determined to try and stay on track as much as possible in the coming weeks and months. I want to make some progress before the end of the year and not be mad at myself on New Years!

I've updated my chart below - time to get back OUT of the 190's!!

Karen - How fun that you found the perfect dress at such a great price!! The wedding and the dress are both great motivators! A friend of mine lost 60 pounds (from 200 - 140) for her daughter's wedding and she looks great! She's kept it off, too! The way she looks has made me certain that 140 would also be a good weight for me since we are about the same height.

Cruise Countdown - 75 days! I just ordered 3 swimsuits online both for water aerobics and for the cruise. I don't usually ever order clothes online - but there are no swimming suits in stores this time of year and I really need them now. I should have been looking a couple months ago when they were on clearance. Anyway, just hope these fit!

What's everyone doing for Thanksgiving? We are staying home this year, and our kids are too far away to join us, so we are going to spend the day with good friends - 4 other couples. There will be tons of food, of course, and we'll play lots of games. I'm bringing mashed potatoes and apple crisp, and that's all the cooking I'll have to do! I'm looking forward to the extra days off work, too!

Have a great day!

My husband is doing great. He's down about 70 pounds so far, but the pounds are coming off much more slowly now. He feels good though, and that's the main thing.

Since my son is getting married in a year, I have a year to get to where I want to end up. I was at Penneys the other day, and found a beautiful silver dress. On sale, for $20, from over $120. I bought it, since the wedding colors are navy, silver and a pop of red. The girls are wearing navy, and this dress is something I think the mother of the groom could wear and look elegant and festive in. Did I mention it's a size 6? I am finally back in size 10s, so I think it's possible. I am 5'2" and my frame can definitely get down to a 6. I haven't been a 6 in over 10 years though, so I've got my work cut out for me.

Karen - way to go on avoiding the Halloween candy! You've done SO well this year, and I know you can reach your goal of 30 for the year by New Year's - what an accomplishment! I Hope you have a great time with your sister and a very happy birthday! How much weight has your hubby lost now since his surgery - is everything going well for him?

Linda - I like the idea of putting some alarms into the phone as daily reminders - I've never thought of that and think I'll try it!

OK - I got my chart below caught up to the present. For the week, I lost .4 of a pound from last week to 190.4 for today. I know it's not a big number, but I'll take it! I booked our dolphin excursion and I have to keep thinking about what I want to look like in a swimming suit that day! I normally stop doing water aerobics during the winter months because it's SO hard to make myself put on a swimming suit when it's cold outside. But, the place itself is warm and the water is warm and I have decided this year just to keep going and tough it out mentally. It's only 3 days a week anyway, and I can do it! I LOVE doing water aerobics - I just don't like the cold walk to the car in the winter with wet hair and don't like to stay and change in the locker room....teehee...whine, whine, whine! My best friend has decided to join with me and will start this week, so that will also help keep me going and she won't let me talk myself out of it.

KD That sounds like a great plan! Write it out and post it on your refrigerator and put it on your smart phone with an alarm that rings everyday at 3:30 and READ it. It is too hard to loose those 20 pounds and way to easy and fast to gain them back. You GO girl and keep weighing in to keep yourself honest. You only really need to stay honest with yourself.

CP that is a good motivator! I thing your goals are very reasonable but if you really get through the holidays in a positive manner I can see 165 on your body and know you would feel fabulous. Set an alarm on your most vulnerable tme of the day (a bit before it actually) and read it every time.

It's very exciting to have a goal in front of you - I think once you reach that goal you just need to find another one to keep you moving forward.

I'm going to visit my sister in Seattle in two and a half weeks. Then of course, there's my birthday. In two weeks. Then Thanksgiving, then Christmas. It seems like it starts on Halloween. I eat candy I buy "for the kids" that I would never eat normally. That sugar is like cocaine or heroin (I've been listening to podcasts lately) and I'm hooked. It's a freefall and I end the year higher than ever.

Not this year. No candy in the house for Halloween. I hate to be a grinch but we are going to my in-laws and watching the Texas A&M game. Then going out for a movie.

My birthday this year I have determined is only one meal long. Not a day, not days. My trip to my sister's is only a weekend. Friday - Sunday. I've made her aware of how I am eating, and I know she will honor my choices.

Thanksgiving again - one meal. And I'm getting more and more active.

I think the biggest thing is the weekly weighing in. It does make you accountable. I've lost almost 20 pounds since Jan 1st, and do not want to find even one of them again.

My goal for the rest of the year is to lose 10 more pounds. Totally doable. emoticon emoticon emoticon

Good morning once again!

It seems there are daily 'challenges', doesn't it? Yesterday's challenge for me was lunch out at work - my office manager took me out anywhere I wanted to go in honor of my 11th anniversary with the company. I chose to go to Moe's. Good thing was the food is healthy and nutritious there, the bad thing was I didn't cut my burritto in half like I normally do. We didn't eat until almost 2 pm and I was really hungry and gobbled the whole thing down. But, thankfully, that held me over until bedtime and I only ate an orange for dinner. So, I guess that balanced it out a bit. Today's challenge will be the bkfst at the Bible study I go to and lunch out with friends afterwards, and tomorrow will be yet another challenge at work with a birthday brunch for my coworker's 60th birthday. I'm bringing loaded baked potato soup and sandwiches, and of course, there will also be cake and other goodies, too.

Guess what?? My DH and I are going CRUSIN' - woohoo! I've clicked the button and booked it! It's earlier than I had planned - the first week of February instead of mid-April. Several reasons for that date - one, we have decided we will want to take a trip to see our grand-daughter in April, and second, the price was right! It is showing up as one of the lowest prices I've seen and I've been watching it for several months. And, finally, it was a really good week for me to take off at work as board books never fall in the first week of the month. I'm really excited...one thing on my bucket list is to do a 'swim with the dolphins' excursion, so I'm researching those now. I know one thing - I need to be able to wear a swimsuit in public for ,so I now have a new motivator! Just about 90 days to go - and lots to be done before then - and the holidays in between now and then, to boot! What can I accomplish between now and then!?! I'm setting my goal at 10 - 15 pounds - but like Linda said - let's just get to 185 first!

Good day for me also! I wont consider myself on track until I stick with it for two weeks. My daughter will be here in a couple days and she loves good food and cooking. Of course there is Halloween too.

Lets get you down to 185 first CP. Five pounds at a time then hold on to that for the next surge.

Good morning!

Linda - great job on those long streaks for tracking and exercise!!! Consistency is the KEY and you are my hero! I laughed about your brother-in-law who doesn't ask - but just starts delivering dessert - that's a hoot!

Yesterday, I tracked my food and went to WA, so I feel good about that. Sometimes, it's just a matter of pulling out that pen/notebook and getting started. I would LOVE to see a real loss - and maybe even a new low - by next week at this time!

Yesterday was my 300th day for the year. For the time-period between Day 200 and Day 300, I didn't make any real progress - I pretty much just went back and forth between 189 - 190. My goal is to make the next 100 days much different!

I have to get read for work - so I'll say good-bye and make it a great day!

Cruise like you those four days of eating were not good but not horrible. I continued tracing and my worst day was still under 1900 cal and most were about 1600. My downfall was not refusing sweets, indid manage once to refuse ice cream. My bro-in-law never asks if you want it dessert just starts delivering it. So I'm up to 163 today and I'm taking that as my stopper. Dropping before I regain is important so im shooting to get my calories below 1400 and should see a loss. Today is a good start.the Dh Tried to drag me out for breakfast but that was refused. I had a nice smoothie.

My streaking is doing well. As of tomorrow I'll have 110 continuous days with over 30 minutes of exercise and 94 days of tracking.

Hi, friends!

Karen - congratulations on your newly engaged son and the upcoming wedding next year - that really will be a great new motivator for you. I know you can do it - look how far you've come this year already!

Linda - you are doing so well, too - how did your visit go with someone else's cooking for 4 days?

We had a great time up at the lake. Our son/wife came to suprise my hubby and it just blew him away. We had perfect weather, several nice, long pontoon boat rides and ate dinner both nights down by the fireplace near the water - we even stayed there by the fire playing cards until 10 pm one night as it was just so nice out and we didn't want to go inside! I didn't do great food-wise, but I've already taken off the couple pounds I gained and am now back to where I started the month. I have one week left to try to really hit it for a loss during this final week of the month. I'm currently re-reading a very good book on discipline called NO EXCUSES. His book says "discipline is doing WHAT we should do, WHEN we should do it, whether we FEEL LIKE IT OR NOT". I am starting today to put my 'disipline' in place. 1600 calories and 60 minutes of exercise 6 days a week - if I do this for 16 months, I could reach my goal of 60 pounds just in time for my 60th birthday. That's my goal! Resuming TODAY - as in NOW, not tomorrow!!!

I've not been tracking much lately - but I've been doing well! I remember when I got so excited to be below 160. Now I'm challenging 155.

My son got engaged recently, so there will be a wedding in a year. My goal for that wedding is to drop another 25-30 pounds, and look awesome in the wedding pictures!

How is everyone else doing?

Oh I definitely like that idea 1234 - my new set point seems to be between 155 and 160. Nice that I started the year at 174... I've made some progress!!

I'd like to get below 155 and achieve a new set point. Looking for less than 150 by my birthday in November.

Still bouncing betwen 161.5 and 162 but not working too hard just in a holding pattern. It's time to challenge that 160 number seriously but I too am going to find myself four days at someone elses cooking. It sounds like rabbit stew for one dinner and waffles for breakfast. I may bring a few things along for light backup and I wont be drinking much.

Cp I'd like to see you set a firm number that when you see it you go into a positive loss mode. My number is 170. I'm re setting it to 165 now. And the big thing is getting on that scale twice a week to keep tabs on it even over the holidays.

I agree CP. There's always something. However - much better to live life than diet and not be social. The trick is finding the happy medium. Maybe one extra thing each day. Not a whole day (or days) worth of extra things.

My tracking is not happening right now. Just got the popcorn done - one more room to be painted. The house is finally clean and I am seeing some light at the end of the (very dusty) tunnel.

We had a great time at the fair and the Alabama concert on Saturday. We got there about 4:30 and walked around for a couple hours, ate, and then did the concert. It was fantastic - I loved every minute and didn't want it to end. We shared a polish sausage with onions/peppers on it and a corn dog. On the way out, Mark was going to get me a funnel cake, but I told him no thank you - that although I wanted one (badly), I knew I'd be mad at myself the next day. We walked around forever looking for our car at the end and I got in over 13,000 steps that day! It turns out going to the fair is great exercise!

This weekend (Thursday - Sunday) we are going to a friend's lake house to celebrate my hubby's birthday, so I have 4 days of eating to challenge me in the coming week. Always something - I must admit, I feel defeated just thinking about it - there will be cookouts, steaks on the grill and wiener roasts, picnic lunches on the pontoon boat and, of course, birthday cake to contend with. I really want to make this a game and see if I can't beat it and come home with a LOSS instead of a gain for next Tuesday! I really don't want to go back UP and then have to take it off yet again!

I hope everyone's doing well!

Hi friends - it's Saturday and I've made it through a busy week at work - catching up from being off the week before. Today we are going to the fair and have tickets to the Alabama concert there this evening, and tomorrow I need to get groceries because I work Mon, Tues and Wed next week and we leave on Thurs for 4 days at the lake to celebrate my hubby's birthday. Never a dull moment, it seems!

Linda - I remember being stuck on that same number when I lost weight about 10 years ago. It was a hard one to crack! I'm sure you've already done it, but I guess I'd look around on the internet and read everything I could find on busting plateaus and try to change things up somehow? It seems like you are doing everything right, so I don't know what changes you could make, but hang in there - I know you'll figure it out! 161.5 is really a great number - I wish I had hung on to that and not gained back so many pounds . I think sometimes there is a mental hurdle to deal with when you are so close to a new 10 pound range - like going from the 60's to the 50's, too. But, again - you are such a determined gal and I know you can, and WILL do it!

161.5 today so perhaps I've got control againand canexpect to lose more next week.

This is my body's happy place and I'm trying to get a new set point. Anyone else fighting this battle. Is there a weight that 6ou seem to be able to sit at for long periods? Anyone have the magic bullet to drop below?

My strategy will continue to be to keep protein levels between 90 and 100 grams, two fruits a day and many vegetables. I'm working on getting at least one veggie in breakfast each day.

Hi there - I'm up wide awake in the middle of the night, so what a great time to catch up my charts and get back to Sparkpeople and my streaking friends! I apologize for being MIA for so long! Please forgive me if this post gets too long - I have over a month to catch up on!

In some ways, I feel like the last few weeks have been a whirlwind and I've been caught up in it. It seems like I've either been getting ready for a trip or unpacking from a trip all month long, and trying to mix in work and church activities, too. In the middle of September, we went to Savannah for a weekend - my brother-in-law's family were there visiting from California, so they invited us to come over and join them at the house they had rented. It was a fun weekend - I love that city - I think I would need to live there for a year or so to really take it all in! The following weekend, we left with another couple (dear friends) for Gatlinburg and were gone for 6 days on a 'real' vacation. We meandered our way to the Great Smokey Mountains Nat'l Park, stopping where ever we wanted along the way, eating out most of the week, playing lots of games, visiting Cades Cove and shopping in Pigeon Forge and our grand finale of doing the VA Creeper Trail bike ride. Although we were on the bikes for about 4 hours, it doesn't really count as much exercise because it's down hill all the way and you don't even break a sweat - just beauty and God's creation all around - breathtaking and wonderful!

Weight-wise this week, I am right where I was two months ago and I see that as both discouraging and encouraging. Discouraging because I haven't made any progress, but encouraging that after two back-to-back vacations and over a month with no tracking, I didn't gain any weight. I guess at least that shows I have truly 'owned' my loss for the year, but I'm ready to MOVE ON to some new numbers!

I read back over all the posts I've missed to get caught up with what's going on - I'm so thankful you all have carried on!

Linda - it's great to see you back and so active with your posts! You are doing well, and are so close to the 150's - I know you can beat that 162! Congratulations on your long exercise streak - is it still going?

Sharon - I'm so sorry to hear your mother passed away. I know it's been a difficult year for you, but you've been a wonderful daughter to her and I hope now you will enjoy your travels this fall with your husband and we'll look forward to hearing from you when you get back!

Karen - I can only imagine what a mess taking that popcorn off all the ceilings must be and how frustrating for it to go on so long. Hang in there - you are almost done - and your house will be beautiful when it's finished! It sounds like your hubby is making good progress with almost 60 pounds gone already. It's fun to have a trip to your sister's house planned - it will be a great motivator for you over the coming weeks!

Hillary - I hope all is well with your new school adventure. We'd love to hear how it's going if you can find time in your busy work/school schedule. How is it affecting your eating/exercise? We miss you here!

Fall is here and we have a challenge ahead of us over the coming final quarter of the year. Three month's worth of treats and temptations - my co-worker already put out her bowl of Halloween candy that will sit only a few feet from my desk for the rest of the month! Next Thursday, we are going up to the lake for 4 days to celebrate my husband's birthday. In November, we'll be going to son's house over Thanksgiving, and then in December, our other son's family (and our only grandbaby) will be coming for a week at Christmas. These will be my challenges - not to mention the usual array of Christmas parties and events at work and church. I'm sure it's the same for you. But - there are still far MORE days that we can track and do well...we'll just have to take it one day at a time - tackle one challenge at a time! I know we can come out ahead, but we will need a game plan!

So, what is your goal for this final holiday quarter? How do you want to end the year? What do you need to do to get there?

*My goal this quarter is to lose 10 pounds.
*I want to end the year at 180 or less.
*To get there, I need to start tracking my calories faithfully and keep them under 1600 a day. I also need to put in a total of 60 minutes of exercise and drink 10 glasses of water a day.

I have totally gotten off track. We are having all the popcorn scraped off our ceilings. We have a 3000+ sq ft house. There is dust EVERYWHERE. I am cleaning all the time. It was supposed to take 2 weeks. As with all construction - we are in week 3 and it looks to be slightly over 3/4 done.

I can't cook. We are bringing food home. Of course not as healthy. Not as much water. Not as much exercise. Trying to just hang on until they are done! My husband has promised me a top to bottom commercial house cleaning once they are gone.

Wow lonely here.

I'm back up to 162 again, something about that number.

My check in streak is doing great.

The scale was kinder this morning and showed me 160.5. So its two steps forward and one back and I'll not get on the scale again until Tuesday.

Beautiful day, I hope to bike some and get some strength training in.

Pancake breakfast
Asian chicken salad lunch
Salmon dinner

I'm still following SP menus with tweeks and its working as long as I keep the carbs to twice a day and only two fruits a day with lots of veggies.

Well I got that pound back this week. Am now 162 and doing the two step forward one back but sticking with it. The average caalorie count last week was a tad higher than the week before so I'll have to drop that down to all days under 1400 this week.

Way to go 1234!! I am also bumping up my cardio and cast away another pound this week. Aiming for under 155 next!! I actually remember the last time I was under 150 - it was six years ago. And I felt great. And I remember the last time I was under 145 - it was 10 years ago. And I felt like I looked awesome, even though I still had some weight to lose. It's definitely the last 10-20 pounds that are the hardest, because you feel so victorious for losing some weight, yet you still want to lose more and the motivation isn't quite as sharp.

I am ultimately trying to get to 130 I think. We'll see.

Ran out this morning to play pickleball and forgot to weigh in. I'll try to remember tomorrow.

Hard to believe that two hours burned 800+ calories.

KD I didnt think you were down to youe last 10. I just know where the struggle really starts for me and my goals are very narrow right now. Eight years ago my doctor at the time told me the 154 was the best I was going to do at my age. We'll seenwhat this new push can do. I think my body did think it was being starved so I'm always over 1200 calories but always pushing to keep my metabolism going.

You and your husband are doing great. Keep it going. It really does help to both be on the same page. My husband is my coach andnhe would like to drop a few pounds too.

1234 I am not down to my last few pounds... therefore I know I have more to lose and it "should" come off if I'm pretty consistent with my tracking and eating. Yesterday I had 971 calories, which surprised me so I thought back on my day and remembered the snacking I did while I was at the grocery store. Even those few bites of cheese, and hummus and crackers put me up past 1200 which is my minimum when I'm trying to lose weight. I think it's those bites that got me up in the 170s to begin with.

Anyway. My husband is doing well. Back at work and no more hives. He's down 58 pounds and seems to be fine eating small portions. Of regular food. Today he had 2 english muffin halves with peanut butter and jelly for breakfast. Then a 1/2 cup of cubed cooked chicken with a little BBQ sauce on it, some grapes, and a V-8 for lunch. He's always eaten enormous portions, so if he can keep the size down, he should be very successful. He is not tracking though, and I really think he should do that to see where his nutrition is but I am not going to badger him about it.

How are classes Hillary? How is your exercise going CP? Everyone good?

KD you go for that ten lbs! Wish I was that optimistic.

I managed to gain .5 this week and I was good. Sooo I'm doubling down and setting a bit stricter goals for myself.

This is a 60 streak I'm going to try.
My personal goals:

Lose 6 pounds...ten would be really optimistic for me.
Keep calories under 1500 but under 1350 five days of the week.
Don't eat after 8 pm.
Keep fruits to two a day and bump veggies over 6 regularly.
In addition to my cardio all days do strength training 2 days a week for the first 30 days and bump that up to 3 after that.

162.5 today

Good Morning!! I had a good weekend and am tracking on MyFitnessPal as it seems to be more user friendly for tracking.

Broke through 159 and am in the 158s. Bought a ticket to Seattle to visit my sister in 2 months and I'm going to lose 10 pounds between now and then. It will feel awesome to get in the 140s

Good weekend eating under 1400 Calories, A couple longwalks and a 36 mile bike ride should help the cause.

still monitoring all foods on SP.

How are you all coping? Do you have a streak going? I have 65 consecutive exercise days!

I did the eating out plan today and I thought I did well. We were at a German restaurant and I ordered the sauerbraten with sauerkraut but subbed in fruit cup for the potato salad. I thoroughly enjoyed it and left a third of the beef on the plate.

We must be on the same holding pattern 1234 - I'm stuck at 159.something. Enjoying Beck and not quite on one point per day, but trying to let the lessons sink in.

My hubby has had quite the last week with hives and swollen lips. Some kind of allergic reaction to ????? We still cannot tell. It's finally getting better. Hopefully he goes back to work today.

On the plus side - my grocery bill is quite small!!
