I was so happy to get my staples out - had complete re-construction of my left shoulder and rotator cup repair. Glad the surgery is over, however, not glad that I cannot use my left shoulder any more because of all the damage done to it. No lifting anything or raising my shoulder. But I do have a new look, a new harness for my shoulder--think I'll decorate it for some color & style. LOL

Beth will have the same surgery as me. Boy do I feel for Beth. Shoulder surgery is very painful. I am finding that the pain affects my mood more than I ever imagined it would, especially because I cannot take any pain meds.

Please keep dropping in on Beth. Those little notes and goodies are great medicine.

Good morning friends. Hope everyone is ok. Had a good day yesterday and am looking to repeat it today. I have my meal plan written down for the week and my exercise time is planned out already. I don't plan on going back to the gym for awhile yet so I'll be doing the videos at home.

Thanks for the perspective Indy!

I am the healthiest I have ever been in my life! I have more energy than i know what to do with at times. I can't believe that I was on the brink of death, living in a wheelchair unable to do things for myself. Surgery saved my life!

Hello!

Today I was frustrated by my weight and remembered that I have to concentrate on losing 5-10 pounds over and over again. You see, I KNOW I can lose 5-10 pounds. If I do that repeatedly, I win my success. I have to look at it all as how far I've come, not how far I have yet to go.

Possibly my thoughts today can help you.

Life is happening now, not 10 pounds from now.
200 plus lbs lost without surgery, crazy diets, or extreme exercise- so have hope!

emoticon emoticon Good morning to the gang from a chilly Texas!

This morning's walk emoticon emoticon should be very invigorating! I don't know how far I will make it, maybe just to the end of our driveway, but each step gets me closer to my goal and better health than if I didn't even try!

If you haven't had a chance to read my recent brief blog about "corners" please feel free to. It really says a lot about me/us and my/our present journey. I'm so thankful that I've joined the Indygirl's team. It is just the spark that I needed!

Good information. I have been considering Fitbits but right now, I just use a regular watch I got from CVS that tracks steps, miles, calories burned and heart rate.

Fitbits are little body mionitors that tell you information about how much you exercised, calorie burned, stepped, distanced, timed... for the day, even slept depending on which model you buy.

Some of Dr. Oz's stuff, like his book information, is good. The magazine stuff is interesting to try and see for yourself. What works for one person does not always work for others. I've known several who have tried his pu-ehr tea diet and didn't lose a thing.

Bless all of the hurricane victims and those helping them.

Beni - So sorry to hear about your sister's niece and family. My sister, daughter and my nieces all live on Long Island. My daughter is still without electricity and she and her son are living by candle light, wrapped up with blankets at night...no heat, etc. Don't know how much longer they can do this. When I spoke with her last night they had 3" of snow on the ground. Just so many people in such bad shape right now. They need all the prayers that we can send their way.

emoticon emoticon Mornin' all!

I know this may be a dumb question and all, but what is a "FitBit"? I'm wondering if this is something that I can use in my limited ability to exercise. I've also started watching some of Dr. Oz's tv programs. Is he a reliable source of information? Just wondering about things this morning.

Have a blessed day and wonderful journey to the new you!

Do they have relatives that they can stay with for a while? Were they in an area that insures them? Thousands are left without a place to stay. Tens of thousands have no heat. It's amazing how much of the infrastructure they have been able to restore already. Everything is covered in snow now. I don't know how the Sanitation Department is going to cope with the extra work. Gas is still rationed and the waiting on line is getting on some folk's last nerve. I'm grateful that so much has been restored soooo rapidly. Volunteers from other states have come in. Specially trained teams are helping all over the place. The Marines and National Guard have been a tremendous blessing. My DH is going out with a team on Saturday to distribute foodstuffs, household necessities and items like gloves, hats and scarves.

Lorraine An attitude of gratitude makes all the difference. According to aerodynamic laws, the bumblebee cannot fly. Its body weight is not the right proportion to its wingspan. Ignoring these laws, the bee flies anyway.

Light dusting of snow up here in Manitoba, Canada, but melted quickly, so I didn't have to dig out the winter boots for my walk this morning. A good stress buster for sure, especially when the demands get to be too much. One of these days, I'm going to go walking and forget to turn around and come back! emoticon

Good morning gang! It is really chilly here in my area of Texas. It really makes for great walking! emoticon emoticon

The holidays are sure coming up fast, but I know that we can all overcome our "elbow bending syndrome" from overtaking us and enabling us to get off track in our journey. Let us all keep each other in mind and prayers that we can overcome.

Beth, I don't know what date your surgery is on, but I'm already wishing you the best and to have a speedy recovery.

Have a blessed day and wonderful journey to the new you!

Beth, I just read in your blog about your surgery. I didn't KNOW you have a team and I'm so very glad you gave a link to it in your blog! You have been a huge blessing in my life this past year so I just joined!! And since I know you are getting an overwhelming amount of comments on your blog I'm going to copy/paste here what I wrote there:

Sending prayers your way - you have made a huge difference in a LOT of lives so I know the prayers going up for you will be just as overwhelming as your life seems right now. And I know you will feel them - having been on the receiving end of prayer! Blessings!! Marilyn

I DO believe in the power of prayer and while not every Sparker prays I know from personal experience that many do. And I believe you will be feeling the effects of those prayers in the next month! You can do this - you've proven to ALL of us that you can do ANYTHING you set your mind to!!

I am looking forward to getting to know the other team members but for now I must go get in some exercise - I slept too late this morning!! But I'm so glad I saw your blog while drinking my morning coffee!! Again, BLESSINGS!! Marilyn

emoticon emoticon All I can say is emoticon , emoticon !!!!!!!!!!!

When I logged in this morning and went to my spark page, I never dreamed in a million years I would see and read how many people sent encouraging and uplifting words my way! I have never had that done to me in any of the years of my "journey to the new me". I can't begin to tell all of you, the Indygirl team members, how I just needed that this morning. I've been beginning to really get discouraged about my journey since I've been on this new medicine for my leg tremors. I know that it is working wonders on my legs, but "dreams" have had to have some setbacks and attempts to come up with a "different game plan" to continue to lose to where the doctor's want me to be is hard decision time. Now, after reading all of my goodies and posts on my page, my feet are not touching the ground, I'm lighter than air, my inspiration has been re-inspired, I feel that I can do it!!!!!!!! emoticon

When I try to take my emoticon emoticon this morning, my feet will be a little swifter and more determined.

May I say to all of you fellow team members and especially Beth-Indygirl, thank all of you so much for caring and taking the time to uplift and encourage me! emoticon

emoticon for having me in the team "Spotlight"!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Have a blessed day and wonderful journey to the new you!

I only know two people that had knee replacements. Both of them didn't regret the effort to recuperate. They have been pain free for years now. There's a lot of therapy involved afterwards but the results are worth it. I'll be praying for you guys.

May I "jump on in" and share some good news?
Today, I have broken the 300's. I am no longer in them! I am thrilled beyond words. I know I have a way to go but those are gone. No longer to be seen.

Mark Twain said: “I'm glad I did it, partly because it was worth it, but mostly because I shall never have to do it again”

I am so looking forward to the rest of my journey because I know I will do it.

Sorry I've been so quiet as of late. I found out some bad news from the doctor this last week. I need shoulder surgery and knee replacement. Sigh. Just when I started using my body again lol. Well, I will do my best to take it with stride. My shoulder surgery is on the 16th thus far, if it doesn't change. Say prayers for me. He said it will be a long recovery to get my full range of motion back. I just hope I can type!!! I'll go nuts without Spark.

emoticon emoticon Good morning everyone and a "BIG HOWDY" from Texas!

Happy emoticon emoticon y'all.!!

I have numerous health issues and am disabled and yesterday, I had one of my seizures. emoticon That just bums me out when that happens! emoticon I am on a new medicine for leg tremors that is working beautifully, but the main side effect is, you guessed it, weight gain. My doctor apologized for having to put me on it, but my legs were extremely out of control, sometimes even during my "attempting to sleep" at night and it was the only medicine left to try. I have come so far in my weight loss, and now, I'm really struggling to maintain and to lose even an extra 25 lbs that my other doctors want me to lose. Oh well, as my mother always taught us girls...."This too shall pass". I am discouraged, but not giving up! I'm in it for the long haul! emoticon emoticon

Have a blessed day and wonderful journey to the new you!

The elevator in my condo went out yesterday. I had to walk up the 3 flights of stairs to my apartment. I was really huffing and puffing by the time I finally got there. I admit the unexpected exercise was a good thing.
However, the chair exercise is great for me. I have osteoporosis and am afraid of hurting my back in doing too much. But I am now do the chair exercises 2 times a day.

emoticon emoticon Good morning everyone and happy Halloween! emoticon

Thanks Lorraine for the information on the "softer" chair exercises. I will definitely give them a try! Thanks for being so supportive and sharing information.

I hope we all have our "candy guard" plan ready for tonight. I wrote about mine in a blog this morning. I already have a kitchen towel covering my bags and then tonight I will implement my plan.

Have a blessed day and wonderful journey to the new you!
