Bridie, no worries, not for a second I understood you that way, I just got behind my internet stuff (days off, you know? LOL)

There are things that one does not do. I remember a few years ago (3? 5?) a guy, inside an airplane at the Miami International started screaming he had a bomb inside his backpack. The marshal in the airplane shot him dead. Later on his mother said he had not taken his meds. Well, with or without meds, one does not claims to have a bomb in an airplane…..

I think this is the same case. Some acts have serious consequences….

BTW Myrea, I had already hear the expression suicide by cop also.

That's true but I was thinking about the fact that they say the subconscious mind never forgets.I am aware that a new home is often great as my own Mother was raised in a foster home by wealthy arents who showered her with everything and best of all loved her and we children. emoticon

Another point to ponder Shirley..mentally ill people often do not make the most stable of parents, and we cannot know what this little girl's life might have become even if her mother had lived. This is a tragic event..but as long as that little girl is safe, loved, and important to someone she should do fine.

She tried to break down a barrier at the White House and ran down a Secret Service agent. That is not a typical situation, and the Capital Police took the actions that fit the circumstances as they could see them.

What she did was not a minor crime. It had to be treated like a serious attempt to breach WH security. Anything else would have been irresponsible.

Sounds like she wanted to commit suicide by cop.

I agree with you guys.

It's unfortunate but understandable that the family would want to understand why their family member had to die.

This incident will be investigate because that is what happens any time a police action results in injury or death.

Regardless of the outcome of the investigation the family will be hard pressed to find closure.

BTW Willam, I'm not sputtering at you, but at the idea of anyone blaming Capitol Law Enforcement personnel for doing their job in this tragedy. My heart goes out to the families of the injured officers, and to rthe family of this young woman as well.. they have lost a loved one, and it helps some people to have someone to blame.

I am so p@ssed off at this I could scream..and I live in the DC metro area. Do NOT, I repeat, DO NOT even go there with that foolishness. One does not attempt to breach WH security, one does not hit a member of the Secret service with one's car at the scene, one does NOT lead a high speed chase throughout urban Washington DC following these events, and one does NOT hold officers accountable for responding strongly to an emergency. The only known components at the time were that someone was trying to breech WH security, used a car as a weapon both in that and in striking the Agent with it, and would not halt.We now know it was a woman, she was crazy, she had a kid with her, and she apparently did not have a gun. None of those things could be determined at the time, and the various law enforcement officers responded properly. I hate armchair quarterbacking..hindsight is always 20/20. I am also the mother of a mentally ill adult..it does not give them license.

I have to confess I do not know the case in details, but really? A woman tried to get to the white house and do not stop when the police tells her to. And now her sisters are questioning the police actions. Really? What next? Are they going to sue the police for money?
