Hi all!!! Hopefully I"m a familiar face from long ago!! But I plan on being back for a while!! Been gone too long, (having a couple kids will do that to you!) Work is crazy busy and life too, we are getting ready to put our house on the market, but hopefully I'll be able to drop in now and then more often than before, and continue lurking as I used to! Glad to see a lot of the same faces around!

I was really hoping to get a job back in New England. I miss it there so much and would love to be closer to home. But, sometimes you have to go where the job is. There are strong unions here, which I'm glad for. I just spent almost seven years in Louisiana with no raise to speak of at all. That looks not to happen here, and there's real support at my university for teaching, plus, I actually have time to work on my book. Good for you Myrea for sticking to it. Maybe you can give me some pointers on getting it done.

I have been working on my book. There was an open manuscript submission from a really great publisher and I had to get my manuscript as perfect as I could for that, so all my spare time (and frankly a lot of time when I should have been doing other things) has been spend polishing it.

Now it's out the door and all I can do is wait.

So, someone stir up some trobule!

Val, I hear ya..looking forward to the day..

Willam, thrilled that two of your kdis will be visiting! What fun!

Rebecanola, wish I could move home to CA!! Tho I have lived many places, including NOLA, and DH is the New Englander that landed me in first NY, then NH..loved NH. Now in the mid Atlantic..born in CA, all of my happiest years were there, and I miss it clear down in my bones! So glad you got a job right away! Hope for prosperity, luck and joy for you!

Yes Val, I am. The oldest one has already been here twice, but the younger one is her first time. It will be fun.

Congratulation Rebeca on the new job. I'm sure CA will be an interesting experience after NOLA.

Willam I know you're looking forward to seeing your girls.

Wow Bridie! Congratulations on the good news! And they are good indeed!
And for you too Val! It seems our team is entering 2014 with good medical progress!
Well rebeca, it seems that a change in name is in order. Are you going to be called REBECACA from now on? LOL I wish you success in your new job, and new life! Moving can be so exciting!
I am just trying to get in gear. Not that easy! LOL WE spent new year’s in key West (did you guys see Sushi on CNN? We were there!) and now we have a house guest (a very polite and good one). My next big event is that in mid-February my daughters will be here visiting… Other than that, life goes on as usual.
How can Christie get away with what he did?

Hi everyone! I've been on and off of Sparkpeople and got terribly off track with following my diet and exercise. I'm back on the wagon again, though. The good/bad news is that I moved from Louisiana to California. Bad, because I lost my job (thanks Bobby Jindal), good because I got a new one right away, but it moved me, my boyfriend, and my cats to CA. It's been quite the adjustment period.

Congratulations Bridie! Considering the stress around you that is quite an accomplishment,

When my oldest moved home for a "short" period, for my peace of mind I offered him money towards his rent to get him out of the house. It was a great investment. (by the way it wasn't just stressful on me, it was on him too.)

Since the dust settled after Greg's accident I've been able to go off all the anti-anxiety/anti-depressants I've been on for a number of years. Woohoo!

That's true..the news has been a lot of same old /same old except for christie, and for renewed flareups in Iraq, and Kerry saying the US would not send troops. Other than that? Right wing is still going after women's reproductive rights, and gay marriage, the weather is still being enhanced by the yellow journalism treatment ("Hercules bears down on the US armed with a mighty polar vortex") congress still isn't accomplishing anything much and the beat goes on.
Me? I'm tired..lots of family ructions going on, two young children residing in my formerly empty nest 50% of the time, and the stress level engendered by the adults who parented them is crazy making. Other than that I am fine. Happy New Year! Still need to lose 10 to 15 lbs, but have lost a couple, but the really good health news is that my A1C is within normal limits..I am no longer within DMII ranges at all. I have managed to stay that way for three years now, simply on diet and exercise. No meds. Yay me!!

just tired post holiday. No new issue - the weather is only thing on news it seems. Gates new memoir looks interesting. I'm disappointed he put it out so quickly however. Wonder if the bridge snafu will affect Christie. Was he raised by the Mafia??

Happy New Year Willam.

I'm here. Not a lot to report. I'm still occasionally using the Soapbox as a form of Social Media. I still have a lot of weight too lose.

It's been a relatively slow news period so not a lot to b!tch about.
