"Lauren Tannehill, Wife of Miami Dolphins Quarterback, Left Rifle in Rental Vehicle: Authorities
She left an AR-15 rifle in the back seat of a Nissan Rogue when she swapped vehicles, the Broward Sheriff's Office said"
------
No charges filed - not because she's famous, but because there's no law against just leaving a deadly military-style assault weapon just laying around.

When we walk around in public we participate in a "social contract." I used to think that contract involved not bringing weapons into movie theatres, bars, malls, etc. Am I mistaken? Of course if you're a nutjob and want to hurt people, you'd violate that contract no matter the precautions in place, but that's supposed to be a very rare thing. It just doesn't seem so rare to me. I'm wondering if we're going to get to the point where going into any public place is going to be like getting screened at the airport.

Yes..a scarlet "B". This is disgusting. And as for the Kentucky Rep...really no concern for the fact she could have hurt someone. What a maroon!

I watched the story on the news and was shocked the way the police on the scene treated the "alleged" suspect. Although he was wearing a white jumpsuit(I assume to protect the evidence) and handcuffs, the guy was allowed to walk around, they gave him a bottle of water and gently guided him toward the back seat of the patrol car.

Seriously! Anyone else, regardless of age would have been man-handled and shoved into the car. What's the deal treating the guy with kid gloves? He just committed cold-blooded murder!

It doesn't matter what the victim was doing, short of "shooting someone."

This is exactly why gun owners should not be allowed to carry guns in public places. If that's the way they want it they should have the fact that they are "bearing" printed across their forehead!

I saw that in the newspaper, and me too, what called my attention was the "It happens" attitude.... I think this gun thing is getting way out of control....

I agree Myrea. Then add to it that they feel it's their 2nd Amendment right to carry a gun into bars.

Definitely a recipe for trouble.

"Security scare at Kentucky Capitol after lawmaker accidentally fired her pistol while cleaning it in her office"

Here's my *favorite* part of the whole article.
"But Leslie Combs has brushed off the accident, claiming that it comes with the territory of gun ownership."

Yes, that's right, folks. If you have a gun, accidents just are going to happen. And hey, if an innocent person happens to have been in the way of that accident, what is that?

And people wonder why I don't think humans should go everywhere armed with a deadly weapon...
