Thank you. I straightened out yesterday. Even my back feels better. Am thinking about renting a rug shampooer. But wondering about the weight of transporting and lifting it. Need to stay cognizant of what I am really capable of doing.

It is raining today and I am in a mood to watch Haven or Once Upon a Time.

Gosh it is August already. I seem to have lost a couple days on computer.

Still reading. I did walk Buds almost a mile yesterday. Kids are getting the boat today. Not sure if I am going. I feel kind of off. The deer are eating blackberries at the end of the road. So much fun to watch them.

I do have prime, I'll bookmark it for a later watch.

Today I have to transplant my pepper plants b/c my tomato plants are overshadowing them and they're starting to look a bit pitiful. Also I have to move everything b/c they're in above ground boxes and we're in for Santa Ana conditions (high winds) so my umbrella has to come down that's been allowing them to grow without being in hot SoCal sun all day long.

Yes, It is out of Ireland which has the same climate as us and is on Amazon Prime. I first discovered it on You Tube. Very simple premise, but I have learned a lot of useful information.

www.youtube.com/watch?v=p_DMQn2RURw This is only the first part, I do recommend you check out the whole thing on Amazon Prime if you have it.

That sounds fun!

I didn't watch much last night. Oh actually I did watch a half episode of Cursed with hubby. Then a half episode of Chuck, sort of, while I did online research and folded some clothes. Then I listened to about 5 min of a podcast to put me to sleep last night. Worked like a charm. For some reason, listening to a deep voice talk puts me right to sleep!

Last night I watched "Dance With Me" about a dance studio. It was kind of mediocre acting, but the dancing was so much fun, I looked up the Bindi Irwin dance videos from DWTS. That was fun, then, that morphed into watching Crikey It's the Irwin's also on youtube. Now I want to go to Australia again. Sadly, even my daughter's boyfriend can't go now due to all the regs and he has dual citizenship.

Also, I bounced on the therapy ball through all this. So I got some exercise too. Not quite the same as a rebounder but it did feel good.

I don't want to oversell P & S, but I loved it b/c I loved it as a kid.

Oh, and if you like Arthurian Legends, the new Netflix Cursed series is pretty good (we're binge watching and are on episode 6 now).

I'm splitting my time a lot more these days, not as much screen time (including TV) and reading a lot of books to help our household harmony improve with my son's ongoing issues. And I'm determined to get some sort of swing going with this weight loss.

LOL I have to admit something. As a kid, Peabody and Sherman was one of my absolute favorites, so when it came out as a movie, I not only insisted we see it in the theater, I also bought it on DVD. I'm not sure why it's such a love for me, but it is.

A couple more books came up from indie authors I like so still on a reading binge.

I do remember Jimmy Nuetron from my son's era.

I kind of want to watch Sherman and Peabody next. DIL is bringing me the Lego Movie on Sunday to borrow.

The first episode was the least funny of them all. I just realized that. And that we felt similar about The OA. The first episode of The OA took us two (or 3?) tries to get through, and then we avidly binged the rest over a short period of time.

Stranger Things was fun. (mild horror, not comedy, for those who don't know)

That's exciting about finishing the blanket! I'm sure it'll be well loved no matter how long it took you.

Babe, it was a cute show, but I think I got sick of it when my son (who watches almost NOTHING on an actual TV) watched parts of it over and over and over and...you get my point.

Next time you're in the mood for a light animated thing - there were 2 kid shows, not movies, that I loved when he was little. Jakers, The Adventures of Piggly Winks, and Jimmy Neutron. I recommend them both.

I love the premise of Upload, but couldn't bring myself back to it. Of course, I haven't felt like turning on any TV lately.

I think three more rows and I will have my granddaughter's baby blanket finished thirteen years later. Been reading and spending more time outdoors lately and getting a little knitting in.

A friend reminded me of Babe the sheepherding pig. It was cute. I had completely forgotten about it.

Also have you seen Upload (Amazon Prime)? Except for one tiny short shocking moment, the whole series is funny.

OMG That was wonderful... Aszzzzzz....yoooooouuuuu.... wiiiiiiissshhhhh,,,,Especially Rob Reiner as Kevin. I also loved Mandy Patinkin as Inigo Montoya in the movie. "Prepare to die"

I haven't watched the Lego movie yet. I will have to rent it. Got side tracked with Despicable Me.

Been reading again. In fact with the weather so good, I have mostly been putting around the house. TV has not been motivating me as much as it does on rainy days.

Watched My Spy with hubby. It was cute. Def Kindergarten Cop style.

Still enjoying Chuck. It feels like a very similar tone to Eureka, Haven, etc., but the only sci-fi are the spy gadgets. The rest is straight up sitcom-style spy show.

So, have you seen the Lego Movie? Not Lego Batman (which had funny moments but just not as good as the Lego Movie).

And...dang it, there was another movie I was going to say I really like from the past, but now that I'm here writing, I can't remember what I was going to say... Oh well, next time.

We went looking for what about Bob and found a documentary about Bill Murray. Kinda fun. He just "shows up" at people's events and "does stuff". He gets away with it because "he's bill Murray". Check it out.

He was just so danged eager to be friends with the psychologist and totally oblivious to other people's needs. I remember Bob rocking back and forth on his feet in eager anticipation.

3.99 to rent on Prime and 9.99 to buy. Think I will buy it. I only have to watch it twice to get my money's worth.

Looked to make sure I didn't have it on DVD and ran across Fifth Element. There is a fun and interesting romp. A little bloody, but still appealing. I haven't figured out why though.

Another one, I would like to see is Night of the Comet. So over the top 80s it is hilarious. Badly written, badly acted, but fun.

I almost rented Monsters U, but checked Netflix first to see if it was free. Found Despicable Me for free and watched it again. I saw that one originally at the theater. Gotta love the minions.

Animation and voice was so similar to Hotel Transylvania I also watched that one again last night to do a comparison. Both were quite good. It is fun to find the extra details on rewatching. I had forgot about the floating minion and the shrunken one. I had even forgot they were sympathetic with the girls.

Love What About Bob. I owned it on VHS. I didn't purchase it on DVD. Wonder if I could buy it cheap again. Took me a bit to convince my Mom it was good, but when she finally watched it, she also watched it over and over. I haven't seen it in over ten years. That would be fun to rent or buy again cheap. Thanks for the reminder.

The Monsters movies are both fun. And, I assume you've seen Despicable Me? Oh, what about the Lego Movie? The first one? If you haven't seen it, that's definitely the one I'd recommend. We didn't see it when it was all the rage, finally saw it later and realize how much fun it was.

I just saw that YouTube TV added a bunch of channels, including some of the teenage networks. So I'll bet there will be more easy pleasant stuff there now.

I haven't watched much house stuff in the last few years. I think I overdosed on the shows that made over a room, can't remember what it was called, but I watched it religiously. Also, the amount of guilt that my house is so messy starts to get to me, LOL. I live with a serious packrat (hoarding tendencies), and my special needs child is not only a collector (can't part with anything he ever played with) but he doesn't clean up after himself much at all (yet). So I'm constantly having to decide how much of my life to surrender to tidying, cleaning, etc., while also trying to balance the stress of feeling overrun by their clutter.

Last night I spent so much time on Spark that I only watched about 1/2 hour of TV at all. But by the time I finished my computer time, I was so hungry b/c I'd forgotten to eat my planned evening snack. So I ended up pounding too much food at the end of the night. Sigh. I still managed to under-eat by 200 calories for the day (based on Fitbit calorie burn data). But I'm supposed to be doing 500 a day to lose a pound a week.

I have found Big Living on YouTube. It is a New Zealand based show about Tiny Houses. They featured one across the river in Kalama. In fact their view was overlooking the hills where my country house used to be. That was kind of fun. But I just like how polite and positive everyone is on the show. It is about lifting people up and sharing their stories and success.

I started watching Dead Like Me. Kind of intense, but interesting. I can only watch one a night. Winds me up too much.

I didn't realize it was her until I was looking her up on IMDB for a different reason (to show my husband what she looked like back in the Gigi days, b/c Girls from Ipanema reminded me so much of her). And when I did, it said she was in Durrells, and I made the connection right away. She's 89 years old now, so she looks a bit different, enough so that I didn't recognize her.

As far as current watching, I think I'm going to stick with Chuck for a while b/c I just need a break from all the stresses of life. And it's an easy watch.

Yes, I still found Father Goose fun and heart warming. However I think the younger generation would be appalled at all the socially incorrect behavior. Now I need to watch the Durell's again. I may have realized it was her.

LOL I am like you. I think I watched a movie because I saw lots of previews. Too funny.

I missed out on Greatest Showman. I checked the clock at 6:30 and had another hour before showtime. Then it was 8:00. I had started sewing to curb snacking It worked, but I lost track of time.

So, I will try for Jungle Book on Tuesday.

Stand By Me is an all time favorite on that list. I know I watched Fast Times, because of the teens at home. Or maybe I listened to it from the kitchen while they watched. I owned eleven of them on VHS at one time. Stand By Me is one that I keep upgrading to newer formats. My daughter worked in a video store when she was 16 so she kept bringing them home to watch. She also strongly encouraged me to buy the used tapes when they went on sale. I had a pretty big collection at one time.

Okay, Old Romances: Anything with Cary Grant.

Wait, Maybe I just loved looking at him. I did like Father Goose with Leslie Caron.

I just rented it to watch this evening. We will see if it stands the test of time.

bring a lumbar pillow to the theater?

80s movies:

I've seen all but Evil Dead and Fast Times at Ridgemont High.
I may or may not have seen Fri 13th, and Broadcast News.

I get confused sometimes b/c there were a few movies that were super popular while I was managing a trio of video stores that sometimes I can't remember if I watched it or if I just saw previews for it a bazillion times as we played other movies in the stores.

If my back behaves tonight I intend to go this evening to theater.

Small town, We are allowed to gather in groups of 25 now with six feet distancing.
www.thecolumbiatheatre.com/ It is a historical building and our town loves it. You will have seen it in Twilight and Halloweentown too. When covid closed everything they set up a curbside popcorn delivery system and had people lined up for blocks in their cars to buy popcorn on the weekends. It was great fun.

Tonight appears to be the last night for Showman. Hope I feel up to it. Although I liked Jungle Book too. But I have seen that one.

Oh let me know about Greatest Showman. My husband really hates musicals, so I'd watch it late-night if it came to TV. But wait, your local theater is open?! Wow. I don't think any are allowed to be open here.

Locke & Key does have some creepy parts. But I was also pleased that they have an actor in it who has autism.

I've been trying to get into Riverdale, but the last season I didn't enjoy and this season isn't really exciting me, either. I've begun reading again before bed.

What can I do for myself today?

I started Lock & Key. It looks good, but it feels like something I might enjoy more around Halloween.

The Greatest Showman is at our local theater. I am thinking about watching it.

Thanks for the review of My Spy.

i finally finished Eureka, and am kind of reluctant to get involved in anything long, so maybe I'll do that movie. I did start watching an episode of Chuck and I think I'll like it when I'm ready to settle into another long series.

I'm excited to see that Locke and Key is going to have a 2nd season.

And for watching w/hubby, we've started watching the 3rd season of Dark. It's a weird show, but we got interested in it.

My Spy: Review: One and a half thumbs up. I found I really liked the characters. It was definitely a rewrite of Kindergarten Cop. Had the same problem. It really could have been a wonderful kids show, but awfully violent in places, like it couldn't make up it's mind who they wanted for audience. But as I said, I really loved all the quirky and broken characters. Save it for a movie night. Make popcorn and settle into the story line. Don't watch it with small children. Since I don't have any, not a problem.

I just put it on my watchlist either yesterday or the day before (My Spy). But, like you, I'm not really doing a full movie right now. I'm still doing my passive watching that I do in the evenings while trying to catch upon laundry, email, and other admin. Basically, I find shows with a lot of seasons, get to know the characters well enough that I don't have to watch every second of the show, I can just glance up now and then and divide my attention so I can get other things done. A movie, though, or a new show, or one with subtitles, demands a lot more of my attention so I tend to reserve those for special times. Then there are also shows/movies that hubby expresses a desire to watch together, so I leave those for the rare times we're both available for a watching session. But lately, I've been struggling with dark moods, so we're going to keep watching Space Force together until it's over, and my alone passive watching is still Eureka. I am about halfway through the last season, I think.

I do like Space Force, but got side tracked by Amazing Spaces (home renovations) and a couple dog series.

Have you watched My Spy on Amazon? It looks kind of good, but I just haven't settled enough to watch a full movie lately. It is light out past 10 PM right now, so I want to sew or read or anything else.

I'm excited because Roswell, NM is back for 2nd season (not the old one w/Brendan Fahr). I hope it's as good as the first season.

We've been watching Space Force and finding it funny! Such a nice distraction.

Really like Karl Urban and I did start watching that show. Not sure why I quit. Need to check it out again.

I binge watched the Twilight series on Sunday. I absolutely love the sound tracks. Also the first one was filmed just a few blocks from my current house and also from where I grew up. Bella's house is four blocks away and the Port Angeles scenes are about 5-7 blocks. Only about three from the house I grew up in. Lots a nostalgia and it makes me look at my community from different eyes. I like that.

I repeat myself all the time. Helps me remember.

Once Upon a Time was a favorite before I moved and no longer had TV. I probably should check it out again.

Could not get into Transformers with Shia. Maybe on a cold winter day I will try it again.

Young and Hungry: I know I have seen some of this, but not sure where and yes it was a fun and easy distraction.

Weather is fabulous, so intend to kayak today.

Magicians gets progressively darker as the seasons go on. You may want to just skip it. It also gets to be more work keeping everything straight. Like with Legion, we eventually wandered off and didn't finish it b/c it got to be so much work.

Have you seen Once Upon a Time? That whole series is about the same pacing and balance of fun, drama, relationships, and fantasy/sci-fi as Haven and Eureka. Wait, have I mentioned this before? LOL sorry if I have.

I also watched Young and Hungry. It's not sci-fi or fantasy, but was a cute no-emotional-investment thing to watch.

But oh, two other series we watched and I'm not sure you can even get them now were: with Steven Zahn, Mind Games en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mind_G
ames_(TV_s
eries)

and Almost Human with Karl Urban and Michael Ealy en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Almost
_Human_(TV
_series)

Both got canceled and we were bummed. The first one is about mind manipulation as a business, and the second had Michael Ealy as a robot partner to a cop (Urban).

Nope, not Bumblebee, although I liked that one, too. But the original live action Transformers with Shia LaBeouf. It had so many funny parts, but was also quite the adventure.

Rushing to get kiddo to bed, more later...

Bumblebee which is the Transformers movie I think you are referring to is on Prime. I will watch it tonight. It has really good reviews.

I did watch some of the Magicians awhile ago. I think it was a bet darker than I needed at the time.

Live action Transformers and Magicians on my list.

I think part of my need for sweet and uplifting is that working in spec ed with the little guys we received an awful lot of foster children with some horrors in their background. I did not need to be emotionally challenged both at work and home. And no matter how much we love someone if they are struggling with health issues or disabilities they take twice to five times the physical, mental and emotional energy of healthy or typically developing people.

So we need to recharge our batteries with uplifting such as Touched By An Angel, Signed, Sealed and Delivered, Eureka, Haven etc.

I turned on Healer last night and wandered in the kitchen to let the Buds out then did something else and couldn't get into it. About half way through it just clicked with me. I finished it and liked it so much I started it from the beginning and watched it all the way through again. Sweet and uplifting. It is on Netflix right now. www.netflix.com/title/81035785

It's the Transformers live-action one, not the cartoon (I've never seen the cartoon).

I'd forgotten that part about Holes, I'd remembered why they were digging, but had forgotten the reason for the killing in the first place. And I can't remember whether they handled it well (the movie makers).

I loved Chocolat.

Can't think of any movies I haven't already mentioned. Unless I haven't mentioned the original Footloose?

Sometimes Hallmark romances are spot on for my level of available emotional investment. Frankly, that's why I watch things like Eureka, Haven, and Once Upon a Time. They were fun, not too deep, didn't require an emotional investment.

Have you see The Magicians? It's a bit young and edgy, but we ended up really enjoying it. It's not for everyone, that's for sure. It's weird, and after season 1, the language was a bit more vulgar, but for some reason we liked and yet didn't like all of the characters. It's odd to explain and I can't really say I recommend it to anyone I know. Kind of like Legion was its first season.

Hmmm....I will have to check out Transformers. I had a student who lived and breathed them. Never watched the movie though and I do love well made children's movies.

Holes: The reason they were digging the holes was to find the loot left behind by Kate who became an outlaw after her Love was killed due to racial prejudice. The boys themselves had a cool story about prejudice and perception too.

I could not find anything I wanted to watch last night. I did watch a Hallmark romance. It was sweet and not stressful. So that worked. I ended up putting two more books on Kindle to read. Enjoying Rebecca Raisen. She writes sweet uplifting cozy romances about friendship and community. However, I think this latest series is set in the USA and she uses a lot of British terminology. Some reviewers whined about that. I just thought it was funny. She got her characters voices dead on with some different language and accents, but missed the people in the US have flashlights, hoods, trunks instead of torches, bonnets and boots.

So back to movies. I looked up Overboard, Chocolat, and Avengers. Avengers was free on prime, but I couldn't get into it. I couldn't bring myself to pay for the other two when I own them on DVD. Maybe I will roll the computer over to the TV so I can watch them. But not tonight. I have TOPS tonight.

I used to enjoy westerns more than I do now. And speaking of abuse, tonight, we were watching an episode of Girls from Ipanema (Brazilian show) and it's set back in 1959, and the attitudes toward women are not just bad, one man abuses his wife multiple times, and they're pretty graphic instances. As a victim of spousal abuse in my first marriage, those things are very hard for me to watch. If the show does much more of that, I'm going to opt out.

Holes, I don't remember much but at the time I saw it, I thought it was pretty good. Didn't both kids (who ended up being the main focus of the movie) get unjustly arrested? That whole detention camp was pretty rough. But I don't remember enough about how they handled the race issues that I can't really comment on it.

I'm still watching Eureka and enjoying it. It does remind me a lot of Haven, and a little bit of Once Upon a Time.

Transformers is another movie I've watched multiple times. The first one, especially. I love robots!

Loved a lot of John Wayne movies, but can't hardly watch him paddle Maureen O'Hara any more without getting irritated. When we were suppose to be sweet helpless things we were suppose to be taken care of too. That never happens. Reality is that things happen. Even the best husbands can get sick. I made sure my girls had skills to care for themselves. Deep breath, lower the blood pressure.

Here is one to discuss...Holes...I loved the movie, but wonder how other groups feel about it. It does touch on racism and prejudice.

7B47B: I used to watch it often, like every time I could catch it on TV, and even borrowed the video a few times. But then years went by without seeing it, and when I watched it again, I was a bit shocked at some of the attitudes. Now that I'm older and more mellow, I wonder if I would find it fun to watch again.

LOL Talk about Free Range kids. She was certainly fearless and so were the children. Of course there is some literary license. Still a lot of fun to watch.

Did I mention Seven Brides for Seven Brothers? I love the music and dancing especially the barn raising. It is probably considered very sexist now and the younger generation would be appalled. But I thought it was fun and funny.

That wikipedia article is how I found out they were real people. I was shocked when I saw that Gerald was the one who wrote the books that became the TV show.

It all started with me looking up Henry Miller b/c I wanted a refresher on what titles he'd written, and on his page it mentioned the Durrell's, so of course, I wanted to go read about them, surprised they were real. That mom was such a free spirit, even today she'd be seen as an alternative parent, I can't imagine what people thought of her back then, LOL.

I loved the Durrells in Corfu. I checked out a couple of the books and although they were good and definitely funny, I just couldn't get into them. The author of the books is the kid on the show. The TV show let's you really feel the warm sultry climate and bright sun. I loved that. Especially in comparison to wet, rainy, depressive England which they left.

I think I read somewhere that Gerald was a doer and it bothered him that his brother spent more time talking about writing than actually writing, So he sat down one day to write about his family because that and animal husbandry was what he knew. It was also a good way to get his cause out to the general public.

Knight's Tale - I loved that Chaucer was a character.

I just finished watching The Durrells in Corfu and was interested to find that they were real people in history. I didn't realize this until near the end when they had a famous writer as their guest (an actor playing the famous writer). It was on Amazon, I think. PBS Masterpiece production.

Chris - have you watched Mindhunters? It's about serial killers back when they first created the term. And it's pretty intense. So intense that I had to stop watching it. Knowing these people are real just got to me.

Eureka was TV series pm the SyFy channel made in 2006. You have to be a hardcore scifi fan to watch it. Very funny though.

Troop Zero is an Amazon made movie so is free on Amazon if you have prime. Coming of age movie about embarrassment, determination and friends.

Still geeking out on Eureka. So didn't get my Old Men watched.

Since it is cloudy, I so badly wanted to put jammies on after my bath, but decided that might not be good for my mental health. Putting on slacks and dressier shirt instead. Then I will listen to the sermon and spend the rest of the day reading and sewing. Maybe more Eureka tonight. www.amazon.com/Troop-Zero-Vi

Steel Magnolias is way too sad for me! I watched it ages ago and couldn't understand why the woman would purposely get pregnant knowing she would likely orphan the child by the time it was born. That was before having a child myself. I think I'd watch it with much different eyes now, but it's SO sad that I can't really bring myself to do it. Definitely a well-done movie.

I'm not familiar with Troop Zero, maybe we'll check it out. Also not familiar with Eureka.

What can I do for myself today?

only 2.99 to rent. Might do that tonight, but I just found Eureka on Prime so I may continue binge watching that.

Have you watched Troop Zero on Amazon? It really is a decent little movie.

LOL I also liked Jack Lemmon. Speaking of which....

Grumpy Old Men and all the sequels. Would love to watch them again. Wonder if they are on Prime. I owned them all on VHS, but never replaced them with DVD.
