Hi everyone, I am just checking in. I am alive a still kicking! I have had a really busy last week, I was in Winnipeg for meetings then back home to pack for our Jamaica trip. It is starting to warm up finally. We work the today and tomorrow and then back to Winnipeg tomorrow evening and then to Jamaica on Wednesday morning. I can't believe it is here. My eating has been all over the map so I am just trying to keep up with the workouts.
Have a great Monday everyone!

Oops! Charlotte, I read back & see you are just starting rehearsals ... didn't read it right emoticon

Steph .. glad you had a good visit with your son ... I missed my kids so much when they went away .. I cried buckets when our oldest (girl) went away to University ... only 6 hours away!

Had a laugh about 'You know you're a Canadian' .. I've read that before & it's a good one emoticon

Off to make supper .. it's gorgeous today, but I pity the people that live in the 'flood zone' .. OMG! there's so much snow to melt away ,.... we had a terrible flood last year (South East Alberta) .. the Provincial Government made all kinda promises about putting up berms, etc... well, you know the Government .. nothing much has been done .. and some folks still can't get back in their homes from last year emoticon

Have a gooder emoticon

I hope everyone had a great weekend. My son has been here from college for the weekend, and we got to spend last night just hanging out. We both had things to do and people to see today, but will have dinner together before he has to go back.

It's been a good weekend, so I can't complain. I am getting a bit of spring fever which makes me antsy. I took the dog for a good walk today, and didn't even have to wear boots, but still needed a jacket and hat. It is getting nicer out and spring is in the air!

Here's to a great week ahead for all of us.

Charlotte ... glad you're finished with all the musicals .. must have taken a lot of time emoticon

Have to run & take my great-grandkids for the day .. that should burn 'something' emoticon

Loved it Cindy, thanks I needed a laugh this morning. I'm getting sick and tired of all this weather, roll on summertime. Mind you, these days we'd better be careful what we ask for.
Hope everyone has a great weekend, I'm off to breakfast with a girlfriend and boy I'm already thinking of what I can and can't have lol.....

I agree with LADYSHANNON1. I really do want spring here. At the moment the weather is soggy and we had leeks into the basement yesterday. We managed to open up the outside drain beside the steps to the basement and put plastic tarps on the side of the house to let the water drain away from the edges.

Thanks, Cindy - I sure needed a good laugh this morning. As for winter, you might as well laugh as cry. Maybe the extra hour this weekend will speed melting up a bit. Don't forget to set your clocks. emoticon
Feeling down today over gaining weight again this week - am staying on track with the eating - honest(!) but still up 3. Am journaling every bite & walking twice a day, so hope to stop this silliness in its tracks. emoticon
Finally finished the last of the dinner theatre scripts. Rehearsals are getting really intense - only 7 weeks till opening night. (April 29). Just finished my costume for the Mardi Gras set - good thing I'm not allergic to feathers! emoticon Have a great weekend everyone.

Forget Rednecks...

Here is what Jeff Foxworthy has to say about Canadians; during a recent appearance at Ceasers in Windsor:

If your local Dairy Queen is closed from
September through May,
You may live in Canada .

If someone in a Home Depot store
Offers you assistance and they don't work there,
You may live in Canada .

If you've worn shorts and a parka at the same time,
You may live in Canada .

If you've had a lengthy telephone conversation
With someone who dialed a wrong number,
You may live in Canada .

If 'Vacation' means going anywhere
South of Detroit for the weekend,
You may live in Canada .

If you measure distance in hours,
You may live in Canada .

If you know several people
Who have hit a deer more than once,
You may live in Canada .

If you have switched from 'heat' to 'A/C'
In the same day and back again,
You may live in Canada .

If you can drive 90 km/hr through 2 feet of snow
During a raging blizzard without flinching,
You may live in Canada .

If you install security lights on your house and garage,
But leave both unlocked,
You may live in Canada .

If you carry jumper cables in your car
And know how to use them,
You may live in Canada .

If you design your kid's Halloween costume
To fit over a snowsuit,
You may live in Canada .

If the speed limit on the highway is 80 km --
You're going 95 and everybody is passing you,
You may live in Canada .

If driving is better in the winter
Because the potholes are filled with snow,
You may live in Canada .

If you know all 4 seasons:
Almost winter, winter, still winter,
and road construction,
You may live in Canada .

(this is my favourite, because how true)

If you have more miles
On your snow blower than your car,
You may live in Canada .

If you find -2 degrees 'a little chilly',
You may live in Canada .

If you actually understand these jokes,
and forward them to all
your friends,

you definitely are Canadian and proud to be.

Had horrible weather yesterday. It snowed really wet snow, lots of it. The roads were awful. Now it's raining into all that slush, and is supposed to rain for 24 hours more until it all freezed again into one big lump!

Now that I am done my weather rant, all is well with me. Nothing new or exciting. My son is coming home from college for the weekend. It's always nice to see him because as his Mom I miss him a lot. I am also glad when he goes back and we all can get back to our lives. I do cherish these visits because I know that some day when he has a family of his own, they will be much fewer and far between.

No virus for me so far and hopefully it will stay that way as I'm at work. shhhhhh
It looks beautiful outside today, the sun is shining and I am actually wearing a winter jacket and not the full length coat. Mind you, by the end of the day I may be wishing I wore the coat.

Hello All...am back yet again! Had another virus within 24 hours of getting the computer back!!!??!! Ths extra tracking to get caught up is for the birds!!! Was "over" my cals for 4 days in a row...while I thought I was doing well and staying within range...just goes to show ya, maintenamce is NOT the same as losing!!! So now have changed all my passwords too!...can't afford to keep "maintaining" yet LOL! Also have changed my scale to "pounds" rather than Kilos as I seem to be hung up at about 80kg without breaking into the 70's (I was at 79.8 one day and scooted right back up the next day) so hope this change will trick my mind!! emoticon

Sky seems to be bluer lately...when it isn't still snowing...have you noticed?? Boy am I glad to be living away from any big city/too much traffic/weird people...some of the news has been ghastly!

Well off to bunk down for the night! Sleep well! emoticon

It's a beautiful winter day outside here, too. There is snow on all the trees and the sun is glinting of the new white snow. Phooey! I have had enough winter. Anyways, it's a lovely day out and things are all going well, so what can I ask for. Hope everyone has a good day today.

Hi Team, well last night before going to bed I thought (what a great thaw the snow will be gone soon). I got up this morning, looked out and ............. what the heck happened........ there wasn't supposed to be more snow??????? Yup, had to get hubby up to plow me out. Still walking on the treadmill the 20 minute mile on weekdays. I'm getting better, I'm actually up in speed a little bit and getting 1.2 miles in 20 minutes - so I'm getting there.
emoticon emoticon
It isn't easy but I'm determined.

It's dark and gloomy here and it's likely going to rain all weekend. emoticon Things are going well, though. I ran and walked 5.6kms on the treadmill this morning in 45 minutes, and it felt really good. I am without plans for the weekend, but will probably work in the shop on the desk I started building before Christmas. I like this empty nest thing. The freedom to do what I wish, or do nothing at all is wonderful.

Have a great weekend, everyone. It must be spring somewhere out there!

Hello All!

Where do these viruses come from??!!!! This is the second one this year!!! and I don't go to that many sites!! Altho a couple of friends have said their computers were down within the last couple of weeks....?!! Anyway I'm back again...like a weed actually!!LOL

The sun is perking up everybody it seems altho it is still really cold out. emoticon

My exercise enthusiasm has waned some as "it" has not decreased my mid-line or my arms the way I had hoped...so I have boney shoulders and flabby upper arms (albeit covering some biceps now)...boney hips and still no waist!! emoticon
I have been doing some more torso twists and cross-punches...
emoticon emoticon
And am on another plateau it seems...as well as on another run of "events with food" as MardiGras, Pancake Tuesday and several birthdays hit! emoticon

Its a good thing this group is so positive! that emoticon ...!!!

I'm with you on the having had more than enough cold and snow! I was in a nasty mood this morning when I found out it was -26C...again. Enough already.

The rest of my life is going really well. I guess I can't control the weather so I might was well concentrate my efforts on something I can do something about and that is my eating and exercise.

I hope that somewhere in Canada it's warm and sunny, even if it has to be Victoria.

So, how's everybody doing? Looks like lots of exercising & water drinking going on. emoticon March is off to a super start for you Steph - success breeds success - you are so right.
Kirky & Crystal - you're doing fine, just one day at a time, one step at a time - emoticon Check out the SP motivational article called Two Steps forward, One Step Back - you might find it helpful.
Joan & Helen - you Calgary gals stop sending snow this way lol Don't worry , a nice chinook will be along any time now. Now that you can certainly send my way!

Still doing script rewrites for the last dinner theatre set - hope to finish up today. And then there's the ironing, dishes, cooking ... oops, no more venting. Have a great day, everyone. emoticon

Yesterday was a success on my journey to have a great March. Kept within my calorie range, no junk food, worked out and didn't smoke. The more successes I have, the easier I find to it keep doing the right thing for myself. Today was a great running day. I walked and ran 5kms in 40 minutes. It felt so good to get back to some serious (for me!) cardio. emoticon

Hi everyone. Well I started my week off thinking yesterday was March 1st so it's going to be a long one. I did walk my 10 min mile yesterday but just can't seem to find the energy to do it today for some reason. I know I should but it's too cold out there and I'm warm in here.

Joan, we had blizzard conditions here in Calgary all day long - it snowed! Haven't ventured out and don't intend to until this is all over.

So, how were the Oscars for everyone? I didn't see any of the pictures but had my fingers crossed for Annette Bening to win, just b/c I like her! It wasn't spectacular, except for the gowns and jewels, but then why would it be? They don't want the show to outshine the stars or the Oscars given out. Or maybe I'm just wanting them to have a reason. Anyway, I loved it!

Helen

Hi from the East Coast again. I don't post often on this site, just once in a blue moon. Just finished digging out from yet another storm and another coming tomorrow and into Tuesday. We just can't seem to get a break at all here. Took me 45 minutes just to chip away the ice and hard snow off my car just to get in the darn thing this morning. But right now we are enjoying a beautiful sunny day here on the Island. Just came inside after spending 2 1/2 hours outside.
Take care everybody and chins up,SPRING is just aroung the corner.

Hey there GUNI - good to see you posting again. We're still in the deep freeze here & my tulips are fast asleep in their frozen beds. Time for a visit to the flower shop - emoticon
Anyone heard of laughter yoga? Went to a "laughter playshop" this morning that used some of the exercises as a stress reducing technique. What a hoot! And it works. After that class, driving through the city didn't fizz me at all (of course, it was a Sat. morning, so not the usual traffic)
Well, KIRKYLASSIE, I'm going to try to keep the wedding dress idea a secret until our 25 anniversary, but DH is a pretty perceptive guy. emoticon

Hi All!

Have been MIA for awhile but had to check back with my Canadians... emoticon
The deep freeze is thawing gradually and I have to tell someone that tulip bunches are $2 LOL!! a SURE sign of spring!

Great to see all the newcomers to the site! Its what keeps the motivation high and the energy up to lose these sticky pounds. emoticon

Am off to the Y for strength training and biking (which has become a "good time") and then back to the paper work for tax time (Yech!!)

Have a great week-end!

Thanks Minimoe1 emoticon

You hang in tough there. You WILL be wearing that wedding dress again, when you feel "down" just think of how good you are going to feel and the look in his eyes when he sees you in the dress (is it a surprise or does he know)? You are lucky your goal is reachable there is no way - and I mean NO WAY - I would get one leg into my wedding dress LOL.

Well it's 6:40 am here in Ontario and not snowing just now. It snowed last night and the highways were pretty bad, a few closures but all is calm at the moment.

I don't get it. We drop to -14 or so and Monday it's supposed to be 11? No wonder I'm confused.

No big plans today so I guess I'm chillaxin. Have a good weekend everyone.

Steph is right, Kirky & Crystal, you've started & can only improve. The old saying practice makes perfect applies to this healthy living journey for sure. Exercise & healthy eating & a positive attitude all work together to get you to your goals. emoticon

More Arctic air temp was -38 this morning, without the wind chill. Enough already! Spent all morning discussing kitchen cupboard designs/possibilities with a cabinetmaker - my new kitchen is one more step on the road to reality.
Tomorrow I'm enrolled in a laughter playshop called "From Stressed to Desserts" - really looking forward to it. emoticon Time to shake out the mental cobwebs a bit & take some me-time. Hope all of you find a way to do the same this weekend. And keep drinkin' that water!!! emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

I worked out (day two for me). I know it sounds pretty pathetic but at least I'm doing it right? I went to the gym, for the second time, and used the treadmill again. I walked the 20 minute mile. I know some of you think this is slow, and it is, but I was so pleased with myself and I hardly had any pain after it. I did have to slow down a bit about 2/3 of the way through but managed to pick it up again. Nope, no slope no nothing just walking.

I didn't workout yesterday, dealing with too much stress regarding my 15 yr old daughter. But, I did stay in my calorie range. Feeling a little depressed today but hoping to still get my workout in. MINIMOE, 30 Day Shred is a dvd by Jillian Micheals. It's circuit training, but each workout is only 20-30 mins long, which I find wonderful since time is not very plentiful. I love it!

Finally checking in - it's been an impossibly busy week, yet I'm not too sure what's been accomplished. Not much computer time, that's for sure. A cabinetmaker is stopping by tomorrow to talk kitchen cupboards, so major "tidy-up" in progress.

Accomplished my "mini-goal" re drinking water over the long weekend. emoticon And, Joan, you'll never guess what my TOPS group's weekly challenge is, yep, drink 64 oz each day! It's a conspiracy emoticon (downing another glassful!) A wee disappointment at the scale this week - up a pound, but am not too concerned. Will not slack off though.
Crystal : what is the 30 day shred?
Steph - Great to hear you're back to "treading" & that we have another treadmill convert in Kirkylassie. I've never tried one, but just may get inspired by all you gals. I'm now part of the AquaFit team with Joan & GUNI, having just signed up for six weeks of it, beginning in mid-March. It's a 30 minute drive to the pool, but so worth it. I've really missed going this winter. emoticon Time to "paddle around" in the dishpan. Take care, all.

Grateful for yet another day feeling better than the day before. This morning I walked and ran intervals on my friend the treadmill. I coughed a fair bit, but was able to run the intervals I wanted to. It's funny, but being sick made me realize how much more important being fit and eating healthy has become to me than just losing weight.

Hi All! I've been doing really good so far this week and this is hump day do it's looking promising. I've stayed in my calorie range every day so far and has done the 30 Day Shred every evening. I even had compliments today on how toned I'm starting to look! That alone is a major motivator to keep it up! Have a great day everyone!!
