Just wanted to let you know that the Marathon is over, my hips hurt and we are already back home in Ainsworth. It was quite an experience and was glad to go at my 13:51 pace along with my friend. There were beautiful yards and houses along the way and the police and spectators were awesome!! Great encouragement.

Happy May Day everyone! We used to make May baskets with 1/2 gallon milk cartons and crepe paper. It was so much fun to fill with violets, leave them at someone's door, ring the bell and run. Thanks for bringing back some nice memories.

I'm still in Oklahoma and won't be heading home until Friday. I'm behaving on the food but my body has not been happy with the heat and humidity. I'm retaining water and my weight has been up. That's not what I wanted, but especially with doing the challenge! I don't want to let my team down, but the body just isn't cooperating! Grrrr! If it weren't for the challenge, I wouldn't be as bothered since I see everything I'm doing as a lifestyle change and things will even at. Oh well, I will do the best I can!

The tradition of May Day begins with a basket or
container brimming with flowers and small gifts.
The May Day basket is quietly and secretly placed on the
doorstep of a neighbor or loved one, demonstrating the
gift of giving without receiving.

The basket giver would ring the bell and run away.
The person receiving the basket would try to
catch the fleeing giver.
If they caught the person, a kiss was to be exchanged.

The moon shines bright, emoticon
and the stars give light, emoticon
A little before it is day;
So God bless you all, emoticon
both great and small,
And send you a joyful May!

for a Bright and Beautiful
MAY DAY!

Good luck everyone on your marathons, trip to the children's zoo, garage sale preparations and all those other weekend plans.

Our drive to Oklahoma (sister's) was grueling. We were towing a small enclosed trailer (with the Harley) and bucked cross winds the entire way, they were horrendous. Every time we turned around we needed to stop for gas. My small SUV normally gets 25 mpg and we were only getting 10 & 11!

This morning I did an hour in the wave pool. I really enjoyed it but perhaps overdid things. I showered afterwards and I thought I was going to have to crawl to the kitchen for a banana to revive my stamina and energy.

It will be a busy weekend since my sister and brother-in-law will be off work so if I don't make it to the chat room, I hope everyone has a good weekend

I am going to the half marathon also in Lincoln. Doing it for a lot of reasons. Our town had a very rough year and I need to do this for a lot of people. My friend and I have signed up. She is doing it for her bro and both of us have been training for about 6 months. I am ready. We are walking not running as we are older, but I don't think that matters at all. I know we can finish!!

Ha ha, Grannie! Will do!

Jo--here is your kick! emoticon

I have my half-marathon in Lincoln on Sunday. I've put together a new playlist on my iPod for it. The race ends ON THE 50-YARD LINE OF MEMORIAL STADIUM this year! Woo hoo! The last song on my playlist (if my timing works out right) is the Huskers' "Tunnel Walk" song. It should start playing when I reach the stadium. I am so excited!

Hi everyone!
I need a kick for my eating yesterday! I went a little over board celebrating my husband's birthday! I am going to try to do better today.

If it isn't going to rain, I might be heading to Lincoln to the Children's Zoo tomorrow. I have a 4 year old that has been waiting all winter to go! LOL

Grannie--I need a Grannie to look out for me! LOL

Have a great weekend everyone!

Thanks KJ. I often look online before going to a restaurant too - especially if it's somewhere new or somewhere I know will be challenging. When I do that I usually don't even look at the menu, just order. That way I'm not tempted to change my mind for something I shouldn't!

Busy here too. Doing more laundry and getting packed for the trip. We leave in the morning. Something that I look forward to at my sister's is using their wave pool. Man, would that be nice to have! *Sigh* It's not in my future.

Hope everyone behaves since Grannie is watching over our shoulders!

Busy day here too - hope at the end of the day I feel like I've been productive.

Sally, it does have a lot of fast food restaurants in it. I actually don't have the book in hand b/c my friend usually looks everything up. I also go onto my favorite restaurants websites (Red Lobster, Olive Garden, Applebees) and check out their nutritional information and pick out meals ahead of time that way too.

Happy Wednesday everyone!

Thanks for the suggestion KJ on the book. I'm glad you and your friend have found something that helps you stay on track when eating out. I was checking it out online and one reviewer said it was for fast food restaurants. Is that true? If so, it wouldn't be of much use to me since we almost never eat at a fast food place.

Hope everyone enjoyed seeing the sun again. I sure did. I'm also sore tonight. Did 30-day shred this morning, then 45 min on the elliptical and 10 on the treadmill. Usually only do one or the other.

Sally, Have you ever heard of the book "Eat this not That"? My friend has it and we use it all the time to find our best options at all of our favorite restaurants. We don't feel guilty having our weekly lunch dates anymore.

Good for you Jam! Grilled shrimp salad sounds delicious. I need to do better when eating out. I'm better than I was, but there's room for improvement. While at my sisters I know I'll have lots of opportunities to practice good choices since they eat out all the time. We eat out a lot, but not like them.

Hi ladies! Just popping in to say hello. I'm freezing today - want my sunshine back.

GoHusker - 30 Day Shred is a DVD by Jillian Michaels. You can usually get a cheaper used copy from Amazon. It's a 3-2-1 strength, cardio, abs combo 20 minute workout. And, it's a good workout for 20 minutes. I usually do it when I don't have time to get to the Y. She does have a diet plan but I can't remember if it is included with the DVD.

Vicki, Hope the plan goes well. High fiber has always helped me. Also, when doing high fibler diets we usually naturally wean out all of that processed stuff.

Have a great week all!

Vitchy...Not being critical but just remember this is not a diet but a lifestyle change we are after. I also saw a new "diet" on GMA this morning but for the life of me can't remember what it was called. They all work if we can stay with them...
Regroup here Jam2drew take a breathe and rethink your week...Baseball does not mean drive thu if you plan ahead... Of course I can say that as that is not an option here as we do not even have a food place within 20 miles of any sort.. LOL... But make healthy sandwiches take fruit and plenty of water maybe some veggies and your good to go. Ala picnic...Maybe this is the time to reward you for eating right with that special treat And if you miss some exercise you won't have to beat yourself up so much because you won't have those extra calories to burn off. Good Luck... and be good to yourself... both of you.

What does the fiber diet involve Vitchy?

This will be a tough week for me. I have a surprise 50th bday party to go to tonight at Roja and Drew has baseball games at 6 this week on Tuesday and Thursday which means drive thru. Hope I can still get my exercise in.

Welcome to the chat room GOHUSKERS2 I think the 30 day shred is a DVD you can buy but maybe someone else can report better then me

I am doing the fiber Diet 30grams a day and it said you only have to exercise 10 - 15 or more min a day I am going for the more if I can.

The scale was very happy this morning hope I can keep this going now a while.

Have a great day all

Everyday I find something on this website that I haven't seen before. It's awesome and very helpful, but I'm not familiar with the 30 day shred. Where would I find that. I go swimming at the Y once or twice a week, and ride their Eclipse bikes that take you over different terrains and make it more fun than work.

I said the same thing this morning Vitchy....Guess I can't complain I lost 5#'s this last month...Think a lot of it has to do with the change in medications but would like to lose at least 10 more before I go back to the Dr in June. Small goals area attainable..Tonight is the annual "Ladies Night Out" in our small town where all the ladies get together for supper and entertainment. I have to make a corn salad so had better get busy. See everyone tommorrow

I never seem to have time to garage sale so I usually hit Goodwills instead.

Went to my son's 1st baseball game of the season which they won.

Really not sure what is up here...On a farm plans are never made because something always changes them. didn't get as much rain as predicted although they say today will bring more. Love to Garage sale and used to do it all the time but haven't for years.
Good day all

I wish I were going to garage sales too! I haven't been to one in a long time. When I do go, I usually don't buy much, but you never know what you might find.

I think after a busy day, hubs and I will have a nice evening at home. We haven't had that since last weekend.

Enjoy the day!

30 Day Shred - I like the DVD. I only use it on days that are set for cardio and I can't get to the YMCA. For 20 minutes - it's a pretty good workout. If you're short on time and want a good challenge, I'd recommend it. I'm usually sore the next day. I haven't done it consistently for 30 days, but I'm sure it would jump start anyone if they did. Only complaint is that I can't figure out how to jump past the introduction. My DVD player makes me watch it each time.

I don't do the plan meals on here, but I do faithfully watch my calories. One thing; however, is I make sure we are eating "normal" meals that the entire family can enjoy and that don't feel like a diet plan.

Cleaning weekend - yeah!!

Jo, love the new pic!

Enjoy the rain ladies!

Hi everyone!
I am so glad this week is over. I have been so busy with my work! I haven't got a lot of sleep this week since I work at home and it started to affect my fitness. I was just plain too tired. So I gave myself a kick today and did 6 miles!

Grannie--Missed seeing you on here! I'm glad you are back!

Have a great weekend everyone!

This evening will be going out for a late dinner and perhaps pick up a movie.

Tomorrow, weather permitting, my husband will be leading demo rides at the Harley dealership and I'll probably hang out inside during that time. They'll probably be some biker friends around to catch up with. Afterwards we have a family gathering for hubs side of the family.

What about you Felix?

Didn't win but didn't lose to much at the boats but had a good time but had to much stuff with salt and the scale was not happy this morning.

Oh well I found a Mag with some more good times how to lose weight so going to read and see if I can start something new again.

Grannie I have missed you I thought maybe you went on Vac and that is why we have not heard from you but I will give you a emoticon emoticon if you give me one.

Ok have a great weekend all

Grannie, I don't know you well but if a few kicks in the hinney is what you want, then I feel compelled to help you out!

Were 6 kicks more than "a few"?

Gee cyberspace did it to me again...I haven't received a post since 4/14 so I thought everyone was busy... today I started searching for the April chat room on the Ne site as I felt I needed to get back in the groove and was I surprised.
glad to see all the new one's on here Welcome... I have been doing quite well this last week and want to keep it up but can't by being lax...that is what got me here in the first place so how about a few kicks in the hinney for me to keep me motivated???!!!

It's a quiet afternoon for me. Catching up on some SP in between laundry and other household tasks.

Went to a very early breakfast with DH and a "friend" (that's a WHOLE 'nother story, since said "friend" has been on my pooh list for awhile) and I had a major victory. I had a healthy breakfast and rather than hash browns, I had fruit that was grapes and melon. This is such a victory because I can easily go 6 months without eating fruit. My idea of fruit is the all fruit spread or if DH makes waffles and puts in a banana or apple. The look on DH's face when I ordered fruit was priceless!

Hi everyone!
I think I am finally recovering from my daughter's recital! It's a 2 day deal. Saturday night and Sunday. I helped out on Saturday night. 3 1/2 hours of 20 little 4 and 5 year olds! Plus practice that morning! I am still tired! LOL It was so cute, though. It was a Wizard Of Oz theme, and the pre-schoolers were the little munchkins. They did a great job, and my daughter likes the stage!

I don't use the food plans, but I use the nutrition tracker. After entering in my favorites, it is very slick. I use the fitness tracker also, but I have had to enter in my own fitness since I use Leslie Sansone DVDs.

Have a good rest of the week!

Jo
