The day actually went a lot better than I had anticipated. Unfortunately it took 3 tries to get my IV started so I definitely needed the Pepsi (something about the sugar and caffeine keeps me from getting too faint while I'm being poked and prodded). But, I switched to water after the hard part was over.

Did indulge my favorite confetti popcorn but only 1.5 cups and then asked my mom to put it away and out of sight (she took it home with her at the end of the day). I decided not to deprive myself of anything but simply to indulge in moderation and it worked. I'm bruised and sore from my flu shot but I got up and worked out this morning anyway (my forearms have 3 large bruises and earned me several odd looks at the gym).

I felt so good from the fresh blood that I was able to go on a downtown walking loft tour of 15 lofts in my city. My mom and I walked approximately a mile and the equivalent of 15 flights of stairs in a little under 2 hours this afternoon (after I did the gym this morning). I'm exhausted now but I feel very accomplished!

Thanks for checking in!

Hi Team! I'll be spending tomorrow in the hospital getting 2 units of blood transfused. Usually only need one but at least I made it 5 weeks this time. Here's my dilemma...snacks! I ALWAYS feel munchy when I'm in the hospital and this time I will be there a minimum of 8 hours (more likely to be 10-12). I hope I get a room quickly and the blood gets typed as soon as possible.

I always crave rainbow popcorn (it's made by a local vendor and oh so addictive...each flavor tastes slightly different). I can't not eat it but I'll ask my mom to buy a small bag and I'll only munch on a cup of it throughout the day. I'm also taking some homemade ground chicken chili (lunch) and some brown rice with peas (for dinner with some lean protein). I'm going to take a fresh yummy mango-pineapple smoothie to sip on throughout the day.

I'm sure I'll break my no-soda rule (only 1 when they start my IV, no matter what I always get faint and it takes a Pepsi to keep me from passing out with the needle...despite the 2 mg of Ativan)!

So...ideas, tips, suggestions for how to stay on track when I get munchy and want unhealthy choices?

Thanks everyone!
Megan
