I had a banana and a bottle of lemon water for breakfast.
I'm making a baked potato and a salad for lunch with matcha tea that has spearmint and peppermint leaves blended in it (no sugar)

For dinner I'm planning on chicken breast, baked sweet potato and green beans.

Snack - Steak with brussel sprouts, sweet potatoes, and red onion, with balsamic vinegar glaze

Dinner - Scallops with asparagus and left over veggies, mixed green salad with berries.

Posting again - I think I found my absolute favorite food! Spicy Tuna Cakes - but no cake batter :) found the recipe here... http://nomnompaleo.com/post/91332244628/sp
icy-tuna-cakes
I didn't have parsley or jalapeno, so I left those out and just added extra crushed red pepper. They were absolutely fantastic! I also didn't have ghee, or a cupcake pan, so I sprayed avacado oil on the sheet and just left that part out of the recipe. here are mine :)

I'm posting this because I'm pretty proud of myself this week. Before Whole30 I was never interested in cooking. In fact, I was pretty sure that if it didn't come from a box with the seasoning packet, I couldn't cook it. My husband always did the cooking, but I rarely liked it because of the way he seasoned stuff - too much curry, always! Well, I've been doing the majority of the cooking and he's loving it! Last night we had baked cod seasoned with onion powder, chili powder, garlic powder, a pinch of Himalayan salt, and pepper. Earlier in the week I made a chicken zoodle soup and this morning he warmed up the left overs and had it for breakfast. Learning to cook healthy, without a pound of salt and getting creative with sauces is actually pretty fun! We had steak the other night and I made a spicy orange sauce: pureed orange, crushed red peppers, chili powder, beef broth and the pan drippings from the steak. It was a citrus spicy sauce and so good!

I'm not sure the available options in the food tracker are realistic for keeping track of caloric intake etc. Since all the foods are user submitted - with what I ate yesterday, there's no way I didn't meet my nutrition goals, but the tracker says I was under. Not possible. Which is frustrating, because I'd really like to know. Think I'll see if I can find a book at the store that has nutritional info in it. With the way we're eating, it's difficult to find the foods in here that match. So most of it is a guess.

On another note, how is everyone doing on their water intake? Now that I can't have my regular choices, I'm going through tons of water. I had over 100 oz yesterday without even thinking about it.

B - honeydew melon, ham slices, turkey breast slices

L - my home made chicken no-noodle soup (noodles were zoodles)

D - beef eye round, asparagus, carrots, zucchini and a home made spicy orange glaze

S- banana, and a handful of almonds, hazelnuts and pistachios, grapes

I have ALWAYS wanted a pressure cooker. Lucky you! How long did it take to cook from frozen?

I buy unsweetened sunbutter at Whole Foods. Trader Joe's is yummy but has sugar.

So far today Bulletproof Coffee with ghee & MCT oil.

The plan is Meal 2 bacon wrapped artichoke hearts and Meal 3 chocolate chili with cabbage

My husband got a pressure cooker for his birthday, so last night we put frozen chicken breast in it, with a tad chicken broth, a bunch of onions and peppers and cooked it - turned out great! I then steamed fresh broccoli with a bit of onion powder and paprika, and then we noodled a cucumber (that was a test). Very filling meal, and surprisingly very satisfying! I'm on facebook, and want to keep track of all our meals with pictures, so rather than annoying my family and friends - I started a facebook page Our Whole 30 Life - that way I can post away without it showing up on the newsfeed of those who could care less :)

B- apple with sunbutter, Hard boiled egg
L- perfect hamburger (from the W30 cookbook; it really is yummy!), broccoli w/ pesto
D- planning on citrus glazed cod (another W30 recipe) zucchini and onions, graperfuit and fennel salad

I did a 75 minute yoga class today and I was hungry when I was done. Probably should have had another egg. But I felt fine, no blood sugar slump, just hungry.

I might not have internet for the next few days. I am so planned and packed with W30 foods and optimism, and we are planning a few hikes too. If I can't check in, have a great New Year's day!

12:30PM. Today was my husband's day off so we went out for breakfast. Not a W30 meal, just primal. Poached eggs over roasted orange, yellow, red, and green bell peppers with a organic cream & butter sauce. Amazing latte.

Lots of water.

8:00 PM. Fancy raspberry lime infused water. Five Spice Ribs. -- Well Fed. Mixed salad with home made poppyseed dressing.
1 glass 6 oz red wine. After dinner.

Hope your Christmas was perfect! Great blog! You've come so far! The last few days were crazy. Luckily I track in my Grid Diary App. Love it! I've decided to start a modified W30 on Jan 3rd. I'll follow all the rules except "Sex with your pants on" foods. This isn't my first rodeo so paleo pancakes aren't a crutch they're just an occasional normal choice. The big change for me will be no sugar and no alcohol. I've been having too much of both. I'd start tomorrow except I'll be baking some new year treats with my family. My mom is 90 and it might be our last year. So it's an important memory opportunity. I don't want to worry about not being able to taste something for her.

Today. Meal 1. Coffee. Meal 2 Ribs and Kale salad. Meal 3 Duck Mole Tamale. with cabbage slaw on top. Yum!!!! -- went out to dinner with my sister and her husband. It was a wonderful night. My husband's working.

Oh and I think you've gone paleo/primal and are starting your W30 for all the right reasons. I remember how much better I felt when I cleaned out my system. My grandma had those claw hands too, so I feel better when I eat to prevent inflammatory issues too.

Hi Marki,
Hope you're feeling better each day.
I'm not really doing the Whole 30 officially until the 28th. That's one day after my birthday (48!). The real reason I've even looked into W30 is the anti-inflammatory response people have while eating this way. I have been a massage therapist for 15 years and had to close up shop due to painful joints. I refuse to call it arthritis yet, because I've seen my mother & grandmother's hands all knotted up with that disease. Plus cancer, heart disease, high cholesterol (I know the opinions are surely changing on that subject), and just lack of health with age. I want to be kayaking and hiking when I'm 100! So, yeah, that's the reason I'm paleo, aiming toward a W30.

Anyway...

B- sweet potato and pork casserole, coffee w/ cashew milk
L- BLT salad
D- Chicken and artichokes.

I read that info about carbs after breakfast, but I'm going to try that!

Peace!
Fran

Sounds like you've been doing a great job! I don't remember if you mentioned why you decided you needed a W30, is it for health issues or are you hoping to boost your fat loss goals? If you're eating for fat loss you can tweak your carbs by waiting until lunch or better yet dinner to eat your starchy veggies and fruits to reduce your insulin response.

Yesterday was uneventful -- still don't have much of an appetite

Bulletproof coffee
Health Aid Holiday Kombucha & my vitamins
Bone broth.

So far today
Black coffee with MCT oil
Bison Onion & Apple hash

OK today was good, but not quite W30 compliant, since I forget how they feel about smoothies. "It Starts with Food" is sitting right here next to me and I have a feeling they aren't too thrilled about them, but there was no added sugar, so there's some redeeming value.

B- pineapple, mango, ginger, tumeric, coconut water, celery all whooshed up and a hard boiled egg. No I didn't whoosh the egg LOL

L- my DH grilled me up a little piece of steak that was left over from last night and I threw together a big old salad with mixed greens, baby spinach and some oil and vinegar.
D- tonight is our church's Christmas dinner. I pre-ordered the grilled salmon and roasted vegetables. There may be wine involved, since I'm not officially starting the W30 until the 28th. :) Just starting to weed out the cruddy stuff.

On another plus side, I am not a big sweet tooth, so not having dessert isn't the end of the world.

So that's today! Have a great Sunday everyone

Did you end up making the Chocolate Chili?

I haven't had much of an appetite the last couple of days since I'm fighting off a weird flu-sh virus. emoticon

Meal 1, has been Bulletproof Coffee
Meal 2 has been green tea and vitamins and more green tea
Meal 3 has been chocolate chill with cabbage,
Romain leaf citrus pork (well fed recipe) tacos with guac and cabbage

So far today Meal 1 was black coffee and 1/2 paleo muffin -- big mistake!! left me starving
so I ate chopped red and green cabbage with citrus pork and lemon
garlic dressing.
Meal 2 green tea followed by a nap emoticon

Depending on how I'm feeling Meal 3 will be either roasted chicken breast, with kale salad and paleo stuffing or just another citrus pork cabbage salad.

What a great idea with the cabbage! I usually do something like spinach or kale in the bottom of the bowl, but a crunchy addition sounds yummy!
Thanks

Yum! Great plan! I LOVE Well Fed!!!! Melissa's cookbooks are FAB! I have both. Chocolate Chili is sooo delish. Everyone loves it. I just made a batch Monday. But I tried something new because I'm always looking for ways to eat more veggies. I chopped up organic green cabbage super thin and bite size and mixed it into my bowl of chili. It gave it an interesting crunch. I loved it. My husband tried it that way and loved it too. He said it was more satisfying and he didn't need his usual second serving.

Alrighty, I'm new here so while the last post was in March, I think sharing my meals will help me.

B- chicken breakfast sausage, mixed fresh berries, homemade cashew milk in my coffee
L- turkey burger with a little homemade mayo, kale

D- (my plan anyway) cocoa chili from "Well Fed" by Melissa Joulwan (I think that's her last name) Her 2 cookbooks convinced me I could do this Whole 30 thing!

What makes lard different from tallow? When I make bone broth I save the fat, the lady on YouTube called it beef tallow. It makes roasted veggies taste so yummy!

Meal 1: bulletproof coffee
Meal 2: kale, coconut, strawberry salad
Meal 3 Not sure what I'm going to find on the road tonight.

definitely need to work on getting more protein in tomorrow.

So far today, I had potatoes and spinach sauted in lard from a local farm out here, strawberries, and a couple of pieces of ham. I also had almond milk in my coffee, which is probably not whole 30, but I don't care! emoticon

I just recently started cooking with lard and I never knew lard could make things taste so good!
