Yeah!! Definitely check out Well Fed. Melissa's recipes are the BEST. Her cookbooks Well Fed and Well Fed 2 are my favorites. Every recipe she makes is W30 approved.

Thanks Marki! I found the Nom Nom site and some recipes to put on the calendar next month. Not made it to Well Fed yet. Finding quite a few (recipes) from the links on Whole30's website.

Went today after work to a grocery store that has a lot of the more unusual stuff and started my shopping for Whole30!

Excitement brewing! lol

I a bit scared to start this, but excited too. I'm such a picky eater it's hard to find foods that I like. I made the salsa tonight, which I'll have with breakfast tomorrow. Tonight was a steak salad, tomorrow is southwest scramble for bfast. We don't officially start till Friday though.

Even a tiny success is a good success. Never give up!

Spent a good part of the day reading my Whole30 book. Tomorrow I'll work on my meal plan for week 1 and find recipes I want to use during the rest of the January. I signed up for Plan to Eat so I started adding recipes to it so I can make quick shopping lists. Feeling better about my first time now that I've read more about it!

I'm sorry. I've definitely done that too, more than a few times. It sucks. But I'm sure you saw a lot of benefits from 10 days. -- well after the carb flu wore off.

For me the lessons I learned from my first W30/W90 were life changing. I felt amazing, but I would gradually slide back into my old sugar habits -- starting with just a little in my coffee and then In a few weeks I'd be back to craving it all the time. I'd start a new W30 to try to detox from the sugar and the cycle would start over. emoticon

But I've been listening to the Primal Potential podcast which has a lot of great info about eating for hormone balance and fat loss and by making just a few changes to my food timing, it has really helped me find post W30 balance. Hopefully I can continue to keep that "amazing" feeling going forever.

One day at a time or even one meal at a time. But that's the approach I have to take even when I'm not on a W30 emoticon

Well, I'm back to Day 1. If I could only stop craving my daily glass of wine.....
The good news is the rest of it isn't too hard.

Tried to make my Israeli 'avocado/hard boiled egg' mashup this morning, but the avocado was too stringy. The dog wound up eating my breakfast. Thank goodness I had some bacon.

Good Morning team. Today I am having lunch with a friend, got to be careful in my choices emoticon

Yesterday evening we went to listen to Dr.Temple Grandin very interesting.
She has autism and is a great success in her fields, talked about the different ways our brains work. If you are interested check out her books ,and HBO made a movie about her as well, and she does TED talks.
Have a great day. emoticon

Hey everyone! I am starting my second round of Whole 30 starting on either Friday or Sunday (I have to discuss with my boyfriend which day would be better). The first time I did the Whole 30, I lasted 13 days. I got a really bad cold and when I am sick.... all I want is Orange Juice and Chicken Noodle soup and Cough Drops.... all which are not compliant.
This time my boyfriend will be joining me on this journey. He has previously done a low carb diet (prescribed to him by a nutritionist) and he lost about 65 lbs. Unfortunately, he has started eating normal food again and has gained some of it back.
We plan on doing very strict Whole 30. I am in it for the whole 30 days.... he may add some cheese and milk in (to keep up with his low carb diet)
Wish us luck!

Hi Ladies!
I'm here...sort of. LOL Just seems like a really busy time right now. Typical of summer in Upper Michigan. We only get a couple months of truly nice weather and tend to enjoy it to the fullest when it happens. :) I do manage to log my food here daily, good/bad/ugly/or just a little off doesn't matter. It is the one tool I use consistently. I'm probably keeping with Whole30 about 85% right now. I think my bigger issue is total calories right now. I'm ramping up my miles again in prep of racing and that always gives me a mental license to eat, which is NOT reality.

Today starts a new week and I hope to make better choices, but I have a half marathon on Saturday, so I also need to keep proper fueling in mind too. Hoping to find a working balance - I have not mastered the racing on W30 like Dee has, so I definitely will be having my usual bagel with peanut butter race morning. lol

Have a good week. Let's get this board active again!

Don't fret about your strong start and that now all of a sudden you're feeling fed up with water. All those chemicals in diet sodas are addictive. So you're just having withdrawals. Hang in there. It helps me to drink water with lemon or lime, but also throw a few frozen berries into the blender with my water and make it taste yummy! But what really helps me when I'm craving something other than water the is to make it berry or lime water and drink it water out of a wine glass. Maybe you could try a straw? But straws are supposed to cause bloating, so maybe it would be better not to use that. emoticon Good luck. Just hang in there. What you're feeling is totally normal and you're doing great! emoticon

Keep it up. You can find lots of ways to infuse your water on Pinterest. I like to add cucumber, lime and mint and sit it overnight to infuse the flavors. I always have hot lemon water in the morning (left over from weight watchers years ago which is apparently supposed to get your juices flowing). After a while though you get used to plain water.

Not sure how active this thread is but I'm giving it a try :)
I'm on Day 8 and honestly last week went great. No cravings, no mood swings, no flu like feelings. It went really great.

Yesterday and today I am really struggling with water. I'm over it, I'm bored of it and I want a Diet Coke, or flavored water or something other than plain old water. I have absolutley been getting my water in every day. Sometimes if I need to switch it up I'll have a hot tea or I've also added lime or strawberries to it.

Please give me something so I don't cave. THANKS!!!!!

Yes, the HM distance is a relatively easy one. It's enjoyable the whole way.
Not so the marathon, although I'm hoping that it will be if I take it slowly, as I expect to do Space Coast.

WOW! Congrats Dee! Very, very impressive. Ahh, the aches and pains...they're a real PITA. These training runs have me convinced Space Coast will be a one and done for me. I love the HM distance; and no, I'm not getting any younger. Happy Birthday! Enjoy your cake, then Whole30 on!

Conditions were horrible but I did fine.
If my feet hadn't started hurting at mile 13, it would have been a sensational marathon for me. Oh well, my feet are getting old.

But the carbs I consumed are coming back to haunt me now, and I need to get my stomach settled. Back to Whole30 starting tomorrow: today's my birthday and there will be cake!

I'm back to eating closer to 80/20 W30. And feeling so much better already.

Very anxious to hear from Dee to see how NY Marathon went. Sounds like the conditions were horrible.

Yes, I am anxious to meet up at our race the end of the month. I have loved every sparker I've met in person. In fact one of my closest friendships was forged here. And this coming weekend I'm running a half marathon with 2 or 3 dear friends I've met on Spark. Roomies even. I also have coffee frequently with Robert (On2Victory) & his wife since we live within 10 miles of each other.

Thanks for the welcome Melly! When did you complete your Whole 30? It's nice to hear that the reintroduction of some of the foods has not caused problems.
I'md on day six. Still feel a little tired, and sometimes light-headed, but also am experiencing some very positive affects. I have had some skin issues for several months that are noticeably disappearing. My body is releasing lots of fluid, and I can tell my stomach has "shrunk!" I also am noticing that my knees, which have some arthritis, are not nearly as achy - this is the most positive outcome for me thus far (well, I am extremely happy about the other things, too).
Admittedly, I am not 100% Whole 30 as I weighed myself for one of my other Spark team challenges. I know, I know...
