SILVERYESTERDAY,
I'm here to chat. I'm here everyday. It is pretty rare that I don't check in.

So, what is it that you are eating? Breakfast, lunch, supper...

I've been on SparkPeople for years, and I really don't know where their nutritional guidelines/suggestions are on anything. Could you post a link?

Not sure about grams, but staying within Spark limits for protein. Some days I go slightly over on fat and I've been below on carbs twice. I think this week could be challenging too just because of PMS, although symptoms of PMS haven't been bad this month so who knows.

What sort of macro's are your eating? How many grams of carbs, protein, fat? Any idea?

Yeah I've been running for about seven years now. Went on another long one today and was much better, no dizzy spells or anything. Still tired but I think that was just my mind rather than body, all I could think about this morning was the fact it was going to be 10 miles.

Sounds like a one day thing. Your body chemistry doesn't change that fast.

Maybe the foods you are eating on Whole30 are more nutritious. Have you run in the past? I would be on Whole30 for a few weeks before running any long distances, and run at least a few miles a few times before running a half marathon.

HI everyone did my first whole 30 day today and I am seriously under kcals. I haven't even hit 1,200 and I'm not really hungry. Is this normal on whole 30? I'm training for a half marathon and do some really intense milage, should I just force down food until I hit my minimum kcal level? Would appreciate advice.

Here is why you are less hungry...

Excess carbs cause an insulin reaction to keep blood sugar under control. Insulin stores the excess into fat cells. In storage mode your body can't easily access body fat, and you actually get hungry before you dip into your "reserves". Why is the body like that? It helps you fatten up for winter. Yes you just ate, and yes you are hungry, for more carbs.

So now, at low carb, and low insulin, your body fat is "accessible" before you get super hungry.

There are some great recipes (Whole30 compliant) in the book Paleo Perfected. Got it from Costco. Also if you search onine for websites you will find lots of recipes. Tessamae's has great menu plans- compliant and free!
Finishing up my last week- feeling great! No more cravings or hunger pains. Amazed at how little I can eat during the day and not get hungry!

I'm finding that onion powder, chili powder, and crushed red peppers - all to taste (or smell really) are working great together when seasoning my meats.

Checking in. Day 5 complete. I ate more today than I have in the previous days. Actually felt full when I was done with dinner!

Want to make a crockpot meal tomorrow. Got a crockpot for Christmas. Need to find a few recipes to get an idea on what to put in it. I got a big piece of meat (don't remember specifically what it is without going to look at it.) Some veggies and some liquid. But don't know what spices or how much.

I think chewing on mint or brushing your teeth is it... any kind of gum or hard candy has artificial something in order to get that "fresh" feeling.

May everyone's "kill all the things" stage go smoothly!

Day three complete. Doing well. So far, I'm not feeling any adverse side effects. What I miss the most is not chewing gum when I want to "freshen" the taste in my mouth. Not always convenient to go brush my teeth! Next time I'm at the store I'll look for alternatives. I read the suggestions on the W30 page and not to sure I want to chew on fresh herb leaves! lol

we searched all over trying to find mixed nuts in the shell. Only one store (the last one) had them, and they said once they're gone, they won't be back till next Christmas. We figured the mixed nuts in a shell on the coffee table would provide a good snack that isn't easy to over indulge in, seeing as how you have to nearly break your hand cracking the shells.

Even a tiny success is a good success. Never give up!

Hello, my first check-in!

Today actually wasn't the best first day..I was jet-lagged from my flight home and went straight for the carbs for energy! But it's okay, will eat a clean dinner and start truly fresh tomorrow. Kind of scared to re-take the initial measurements, but better bite the bullet!

Happy New Year, fellow Whole30 Sparkers!

If you haven't already, you can sign-up for the Wholesome Newsletter for free this month on their website. It's running weekly for January and contains a lot of great stuff and links, not to mention is another way to remind yourself of the journey you're on!

And to the snack issue, I have found cashews to be a great small filling snack when I need it. I say "need" because you aren't supposed to snack on Whole30; your meals are supposed to be large and filling enough with all the right stuff that you aren't hungry between meals. That being said, EPIC produces a lot of Whole30 compliant snacks should anyone not be familiar; they're pretty tasty!

We went grocery shopping yesterday - it's crazy how much extra "ingredients" are in so-called healthy foods. Difficult finding snacks that don't have a ton of sugar or ingredients we can't pronounce.

Happy New Year! This is my second go with Whole30, the first one being in October. I went 21 days then and felt great. I stopped just because I got lazy and was "feeling fine". I have friends doing it with me, which helps. I am going to try to keep up with a daily blog here on SP.

An interesting thing was this morning I was a small potluck. I mindlessly put cheese on my plate, then realized what I was doing! lol.

Had a great breakfast.

Headed out for a hike this afternoon.

Suggested snacks while hiking please.

We usually go 8-9 miles over rugged hilly off road bike trails and such. I usually pack a variety.

What a great Christmas gift! Enjoy! I really loved their first book It Starts with Food. A little science heavy at times for some but exactly what I needed. Good luck with your Jan 1st W30s! It's worth it. I'll be doing a modified version starting Jan 3rd. The only difference will be I'll be including "Sex With Your Pants On Foods". I've done a few W30s and know my less healthy foods. Paleo Pancakes aren't triggers or substations for anything anymore they're just a normal occasional meal. I reason I'm doing one is to get rid of the inflammation that sugar and alcohol have caused. Those are my non-paleo non-W30 trigger foods.

Good Morning , Happy Sunday.
Starting over on day 1 today. Light breakfast, egg and fruit and a cup of herbal / green tea
Not very hungry.
Tomorrow starts my physical therapy, and maybe after a session or 2 I will go back to gym again.
