Old Faithful again.
Strictly speaking, I *could* have allowed myself a 'treat breakfast' as my weigh-in showed me down a pound. But this week, I want to get as close to the bottom of my target weight range as possible, and we don't have any days of eating away from home till the end of the week, so if I stay strict for a few days, maybe I'll make this short-term goal.

Big breakfast this morning, just 'cause. I'll tone down my lunch and dinner to make up for it.
Open-face sausage-egg breakfast sandwich: split one ww English muffin, dab a little blue cheese dressing in lieu of butter or mayo, place .25 oz slice of cheese on each half, top with hot wilted spinach, split a turkey/pork breakfast sausage patty and put half on each muffin slice, top each with over-easy egg, garnish with halved cherry tomatoes, serve with half an orange, half a glass of 100% cranberry blend juice, full glass of 1% milk and a multivitamin. I'm just about to load it into the nutrition tracker to see how I did for cals, fat and sodium and then go and run it off with a Sun Run training session : ) Wouldn't have had this breakfast if I weren't already well ahead of target calorie-burn for the week (without counting my blood-donation calorie "burn").

I certainly count my V8 as one of my six fruits and veggies servings per day, but I do like it and like the lower carb/sugar/calorie count vs other breakfast drinks. I started drinking it 11 years ago when I found out I was diabetic and have stayed with it since.

OJ at 24g of sugar would spike blood sugar. My glucose tests are in the 90's so I don't have a concern in that area.

I end up drinking 5-8 oz daily and I'm wondering if I should trim that back to x days a week (overall diet strategy due to high liquid calories/high sugar content)?

2nd question:
Is the V8 a, pardon my analogy, vegetable delivery system? Or is more just something you like?

At DD & S-I-L's overnight. Had to root out my own breakfast this morning--that's how they 'do' mornings : ) Found some ww bread and cheddar cheese. Had a dry-toast-and-cheddar sandwich, a glass of oj, a glass of milk and my multivitamin. I, too, drink low-sodium vegetable cocktail (usually store-brand, but otherwise V-8). I have mine at lunch. Tried the fruit/veg juice combo and didn't like it much so went back to veg. cocktail.

Can't say that I have. I have been a long time drinker of V-8 ans recently switched to the lower sodium version. OJ in the past has caused my blood sugar to spike, and I do not have that issue with V-8.

I bought a carton of Heart Wise orange juice by Minute Maid. It contains plant sterols and the claim is daily servings will lower both total cholesterol and LDL. Anyone else tried this product?

Thomas 100% WW Bagel Thin, a touch of mustard, 4 oz white albacore tuna, 1 T of Kraft mayo with olive oil, a tomato, and 2-3/4 oz slices of Land o Lakes less sodium American cheese. Mixed the tuna and mayo, spread it on the bagel halves, then tomato and cheese on top and under the broiler for about a minute. A great jump start breakfast for me, especially since this is one of my running days.

Balkan-style yogurt, frozen blueberries, 1 slice dry toast, half an orange, half a glass of cranberry juice blend, glass of milk, multivitamin, tablespoon of honey with teaspoon of cinnamon (for arthritis discomfort. Egg whites only omelette with onion and 50 g of cheddar, toast with *butter* (just a bit), half an orange, multivitamin, 1% milk, cherry tomatoes. It was bigger than usual as it was more like brunch--slept in, had a glass of juice and kefir snack and held off breakfast till late in the morning. Granola bar snack in the afternoon and fish and chips (healthy ones, of course : ) for dinner. Kept well within my calorie range for the day.

1 cup of raw milk full fat (not homogenized or pasteurized).

six strawberries, six drops of stevia. A splash of cinnamon. Three large kale leaves, and a 1/2 dozen ice cubes. 30 seconds in the vitamix ... nice smoothie.

Great thread. My usual is Fiber one, bowl, small glass of orange juice, table spoon of raisins and one half a banana on top and coffee. I eat this about 5 days out of the week. Seems to stick with me too. No added sugar but do add skim milk.

Gentlemen, as we all know, breakfast is the most important meal of the day. So I thought I would start a discussion on this topic as a way to share, and hopefully encourage anyone who might not be doing so well with this meal to get some inspiration and ideas.

My breakfast this morning: a breakfast burrito. A whole wheat tortilla, 1/3 cup of refried beans with green chilies, two scrambled eggs, topped with some of my homemade green chile, 1/4 cup of shredded low fat cheese, mixed salad greens, and 1 small apple cut into bite size pieces. Oh, and I have a small glass of V-8 low sodium vegetable juice every day.

This all adds up to 486 calories. My goal is to have between 400-500 calories for breakfast each day, so I am right on my target.

OK, who is next?

ENJOY!!
